I really love this book, I am very happy with the time it took to arrive it only took a few days and arrived sooner than I expected. This is a very interesting book Love the ASAPscience YouTube channel and hope they make more books in the future.

If you're interested in the way the world works and how us a humans work get this book, not only does this book teach you it makes it fun by using funny drawings and not so big words..I've learned so much from this book and on there YouTube channel I definitely recommend this book, especially if you want your kid to gain knowledge on science.

My 11 year old enjoyed this book. Parents should be aware that a few of the questions do relate to the body and sexuality: "what is morning wood?" prompted an interesting conversation with my pre-adolescent child.

I'm a little disappointed in the amount of detail in this book. I had hoped that it would delve into a bit more detail about the topics it covers, but it really seems to cater towards kids (which is odd considering some of the content covered).

That said, if you do have a kid that has an insatiable curiousity about the world, this should help pique their interestings in various topics.

I gave this 3 stars because I bought it for my 12-yo granddaughter who loves science but I was surprised to discover chapters about sex which were really inappropriate for her age, even though they were advertising this book on a kids channel she watches on TV. I will probably take an exacto knife and remove those pages/chapters so she can enjoy the rest of the book and I won't have to toss it..

I've read most of it, and the only difference with the Youtube video is just more clear explanation. I don't see any "addons" contents that not available on the video. Anyway, I just bought this book because I want to support them, and clear my sin because I use Adblock in the Youtube, haha.

Also, they should put big warning in the book that this is not suitable for children. I am planning to give this book to my relatives, but I see the sex explanation is way too detail, and I think not appropriate for primary school children.

Anyway I am quite regret since no new content (so far I read), and it is definitely not for children. So I need to keep the book or give someone else.

My 4th grade daughter LOVES the ASAP YouTube channel. We anxiously awaited the arrival of the book. Unfortunately I can't share it with her yet, the topics on sex are too advanced for her age. I wish there had been a suggested age or a table of contents listed so we could have made that decision on the front end. I think the creators are brilliant, innovative thinkers and I am grateful for their work, just not ready yet for all the topics covered here.

This is clearly marketed to kids, but the sex topics in the book ar poorly handled (particularly the 'will dancing get you laid' chapter). I'd prefer that my son and daughter did not learn to objectify the opposite sex with this book. Initiating a return after a candid conversation about what the phrase means and why it's dangerous and unwise to pursue.

I got this book hoping there would be many facts that I havent heard of before. But that was not the case. When I flipped open the book, I realized that every single topic was exactly like the videos, they were word for words and had the same drawings. Why make this book when you can just watch it on YouTube?

I got this for a cute girl I liked...She said she wanted it but then returned the book to me because I'm too dramatic... I'm sorry that giving a book is dramatic. I like this book because it made me find out I hate the girl.

I follow asapSCIENCE on YouTube. Their bite-sized science snippets, replete with colorful whiteboard drawings, are like a modern-day version of Bill Nye the Science Guy or The Magic School Bus. It's hard not to like a couple of guys who are setting out to erase common misconceptions and make science fun. Naturally, when I saw that they had a book coming out, I hit the apply button faster than you can say "Fahrenheit."

Here, asapSCIENCE covers a wide variety of topics, ranging from the science of zombies (are you prepared?), to the effects of sleep deprivation, to what really causes brain freeze. There's an entire section dedicated to sex, and another section devoted to hypotheticals, and another section that debunks myths, like whether you can sneeze your eyeballs out of your sockets (nope) or whether the common cold is caused by the cold (maybe).

If you have watched a lot of their videos, you probably won't be too blown away by this book because it addresses many of the same topics and there is a lot of recycled content, including the drawings. On the other hand, I think this would be a handy tool for educators and parents, because it explains science in a way that is easy to understand and fun. I just felt like they should have anticipated that a lot of their YouTube fans would be reading/buying this book, and included some never-before-discussed material for us especially devoted followers.

I got an advanced reader copy so some of the drawings and art were left out, especially toward the end. I didn't mind this too much, because this was incredibly polished for an ARC - full color illustrations, anyone? Yaaaaasss! I do wish my edition contained a bibliography, because I would have enjoyed learning more about some of these topics, and I was curious where they got their research from - especially in the sections that involved studies (can you tell I was a lab assistant?). Still, it was good. Fun. I like that there are YouTubers out there who are trying to use their wide audience as a platform for education, knowledge, and learning. #TalkNerdyToMe

Thanks to the publisher/Netgalley for the review copy!

3.5 out of 5 stars.

My Thoughts

I so admire anyone who can make science fun and these two authors have done exactly that. Never dry, filled with delightfully silly drawings and answers to some of life’s truly important questions such as “Can Sneezing Pop Your Eyeballs Out”(I never thought of this one) or “Are Silent Farts More Deadly”(I’ve often wondered about the SBD phenomenon). The chapter titles made me laugh, but then the authors go on to outline in very down-to earth terms the scientific explanation behind the answers.

Bravo to Mr. Brown and Mr. Moffit. This is a perfect example of how using humor makes learning so much more enjoyable.

Many thanks to Scribner, via Netgalley, for allowing me to read this in exchange for an unbiased review.

This book is basically the ASAP Science videos in book form like exactly. The videos are great so the book is fine I just wouldn't waste money on this book when you could just watch the YouTube videos and get the same information and pictures. If the money from sales was going to charity like the three Pottermore books which also contains information you could easily get online for free then I would say buy it and think of it as a decent reward for donating to charity or if you want to support them financially then buy it

These guys definitely know how to make science interesting and funny. I love the book and I highly recommend it to everyone (even if you're not a science type of person) it is worth the read. There were many things that surprised me and others that made me laugh out loud. Also if you haven't seen their channel on YouTube you should do so. Peace.

My wife and I were a bit excited and curious about this book. We were in anticipation to get it delivered as soon as possible after buying online, but were shocked at the explanations given about sex. Definitely would not recommend it for kids. So please be ware about this book as not at all suitable for kids under 18.

Unbelievable. It's a book marketed with cartoon-ish images clearly catered towards tweens and teens, and I jumped in line to pre-order it for my highly gifted kids who are 8,10, & 12. (Mensa members.) This is what parents of gifted kids do - we buy them books like this which claim to scientifically explain interesting things. And to top it off, the book arrived over spring break, when they could sit and gobble up a new book with joy. I flipped through it first, and thankfully, because there's an entire chapter devoted to the science behind ORGASM. And before you call me a prude, I am an open-minded woman with a biology degree, and I think that's a fascinating topic - but entirely inappropriate for minors. The other chapter called something like "what hurts more, delivering a baby or getting kicked in the balls" is fine, in my opinion, crass but that's the style I expected. I draw the line at encouraging kids to think deeply about orgasm. A million global topics to choose from, and the editors approved this one - and HID it from all advertisements! I pity these authors and editors and publishers - bottom feeders all. Classless, base, and they have no idea how one goes about educating and forming a child. Book is being returned.

This is a great book,if your a huge fan of their videos than this is the book for you, I admit some words might be a little triky but nothing a dictionary ,the internet ,or a parent that is just as good as all that.
