I bought this book after reading some of the author's recent comics on facebook. I was disappointed as these comics were not as funny and engaging. I am very much looking forward to his next book with more recent material, but I would not purchase this again.

I really enjoy reading these comics, but I was very disappointed at how these items were shipped. In a flimsy manilla envelope which left the covers of the books bent in the corners. and the books curved oddly.

I quote so many lines from this comic that it's like one of Nick's diminutive organs are playing in my mind ... and rolling off my tongue! Nick Seluk will dazzle you with his brain and his heart and his sole! I've been a AWYE (Aw YEAH!) fan for years and really even before anyone else. So it's cool to see him start to make something with his life. Congrats, Nick, I like your stile.

4.5 Adorably Amazing Stars!

I was first introduced to The Awkward Yeti when a teacher of mine put one of the comics on a test. I thought it was adorable and cute as heck while also having a slight scientific undertone to it. That's what makes these comics so enjoyable: they mix adorable comics with deeper and scientific topics.

My favorite (since the image won't work):

Brain: Have you ever thought about the phrase "the pursuit of happiness"?
Brain: Not just happiness, but the PURSUIT. Which means we admit there is no guarantee.
Brain: It's a constant struggle to find the next joyful moment, and it comes with hard work and diminishing returns.
Brain: The more we experience the more difficult it is to replicate these moments.
Heart: If there's even ONE happy moment out there for us, I'm going to GET IT!
Brain: Go then. Bring it to me.

See? Deeper subject but with adorable comics. I love Heart and Brain comics and I'll definitely be reading the next collection if one is released!

A collection of comics featuring the antics of Heart and Brain, the realist vs the dreamer.

Brain is the down to earth realist who knows what needs to be done and what should be done, while Heart is the dreamer and follows his emotions and may get Brain in trouble sometimes but also tries to get Brain to let go of his worries a little more. Together, they're a delightful comic duo. There's something for everyone in here and no objectionable content. The comics may hit close to home sometimes, but in a way that should make us laugh while realizing we really need to change a certain habit or tendency. So it's like therapy that makes you laugh!

I’ve seen parts of these comics circling around on Facebook or Twitter or Tumblr before, and they always brought a smile to my face with the easily relatable situations that the quirky Heart and Brain characters would portray. When the opportunity arose itself for me to read the full length book, I totally had to jump at it!

I love these comic strips so much! They are true to life, and demonstrate the unique relationship that our heart has with our brain.

I like how it showed how sometimes they don’t oppose each other, but they compliment each other as well.

There’s also some hilarious moments that make each of the characters in the comics (Heart, Brain, Yeti) stand out, which make them even more lovable!

I loved this book. It was so easy to get into; such a simple concept but delivered amazingly! I can’t help but to re-read this whenever I’m in the mood for a quick smile-inducing read!

'Heart and Brain: An Awkward Yeti Collection' by Nick Seluk is a laugh out loud collection for anyone with a working heart and brain. The comics are cerebral and silly.

Poor Lars, the Awkward Yeti. He is ruled by his heart and his brain and they constantly pull him in different directions. Brain wants to save money, and heart wants to squander it on pet food (for a pet they don't own). Heart wants to chase his dreams, and brain is too pragmatic. Just when Lars wants to go to sleep, his brain is there to keep him awake with troubling thoughts like how he did on that last job interview.

It's a really hilarious collection of comics and Nick Seluk manages to find the humor that we have in balancing our brain and heart. You have to let them both take the reins sometimes, and you've got to learn when that is. You might not learn when that is with this collection, but you'll nod in agreement as you run across similar situations to the ones in your life.

I received a review copy of this ebook from Andrews McMeel Publishing and NetGalley in exchange for an honest review. Thank you for allowing me to review this ebook.

HEART AND BRAIN are friends who have to live together. They are a part of the Awkward Yeti. While friends who live in tandem, Heart and Brain often find themselves in opposition to each other. However, despite that, sometimes the opposition from Brain is good for Heart and the opposition from Heart is good for Brain. The situations the duo finds themselves in are humorous and completely relatable.

Heart and Brain collects a number of The Awkward Yeti's comics in a single volume. If you enjoy humorous looks at the internal battles we all face daily, over everything from chocolate to work, then you will enjoy this book.

For those unfamiliar with The Awkward Yeti you can go to his site, follow him on Facebook and other platforms. If you want a sample of the type of humor those are also excellent sources.

Wonderful book and a must for anyone's coffee table. Heart is impulsive and full of feelings, Brain is practical and slower to act; this book is about the conflict between Heart and Brain. A light book for the most part, but does dive in to some themes common to those suffering from mental illnesses like depression and anxiety, such as unwanted, intrusive thoughts and feelings of social isolation and inadequacy. Beautiful life lessons about perseverance and courage in the face of adversity. Highly recommended.

This book is SOOO good! It's a great compilation of your favorite Heart and Brain comics with many new ones mixed in. I love these comics. They manage to be both brutally honest, logical, and sometimes bordering on cynical (brain), while always balanced by a cute, sweet, and hopeful message (heart). The comics are incredibly relatable and touch on topics of anxiety, hopefulness, boredom, naive excitement, and wonderment at the universe and humanity. It's the most relatable and sweet collection of comics you'll find. Love the characters and the message! More please!

The first time Awkward Yeti and his eloquent body parts appeared on my Facebook timeline, I fell hook, line and sinker and was surprised that an informed appreciation of human anatomy and philosophy could be so beautifully combined with finely nuanced humor. Not only enjoying each new entry but the resulting comments from equally smitten (and refreshingly civil) fans, of course I bought this book. And of course I enjoyed it.

A huge collection of Heart and Brain web comics by Nick Seluk.

Some of them are just spot on and hilarious, and make you want to yell, "True!" (Like when Brain says to Yeti in the night while Yeti is trying to sleep, "Hey, we forgot to do all those things today and everyone is going to be upset.")

Some of them are poignant and meaningful. (Like when Brain says to Heart, "Why do I keep following you?")

Some of them just aren't that funny.

But all of them get to the heart (ha!) of what it's like when you're emotions and intellect aren't on the same page. Which they rarely are.

And page 86 gives a whole new meaning to the phrase, "They're just jealous."

And, of course, there's Batman.

Whether it's choosing between what you want to do and what you know you need to do, or just determining the best way to spend money, it is funny to see this tug of war play out a little more literally than usual.

I love this book, and I hope he puts out another. There are comics not published on his website, and the reprint comics are just as nice to have in a book form. Also, he's a Detroit native, and he remembers Detroit when he plans book signings, and you can't get much more awesome than that.

My one and only complaint about this wonderful book was that it was too short! I absolutely love Heart and Brain comics. I follow The Awkward Yeti on Facebook and fell in love with Heart! As soon as I learned there was a book I knew I had to buy it. These comics are so relatable and give me a giggle every time I read them. Heart is so much fun and reminds you often why you have butterflies in your stomach. Brain has an amazing love hate relationship with Heart. These comics are also pretty medically accurate in regards to the illustrations and would be an amazing gift for any medical student! I highly recommend it if you are looking for a few laughs, I guarantee you will want to read it over and over!

Amazing book! Always brings a smile to my face when I scroll through FB to see Heart and Brain interact! Heart and Brain and Lars bring out all your scattered thoughts and emotions and let you breathe a sigh of relief knowing that you're not the only one! Embrace your inner Lars! <3

Met Nick yesterday and he is an amazing human being, really humble and just overall awesome!

The Awkward Yeti has been creating funny comics on the internet for some time now, but Hear & Brain series is easily his best -> it's smart and funny, not to mention highly relatable most of the time ;) I wholeheardly recommend this book for everyone who'd like to smile a bit at the world :)

PS. It would also make a great gift for anyone - just sayin'

PS2. technicality: the quality of the paper and colors is stunning, i didn't expect it to look so... refined :P

PS3. the last comic is easily my favourite of all time, make sure to check it out ;)

This is an awesome book. The printing is gorgeous and I love the disagreements between Heart and Brain. I have had many of those discussions myself. I have recommended it to everyone since I got it and they have all been impressed as well. It's worth buying the physical copy of this book so you can flip right to your favorite comics. My only complaint is that gall bladder, liver, bladder, and all the other wonderful characters that make the web comic complete aren't included.
