This was superb. Annabeth Chase finally meets Sadie Kane. They r immediate friends, It is a funny thriller. Full of excitement and proves girls can be smart and strong.
Annabeth meets Sadie when following a Greek/Egyptian monster. Sadie shows Annabeth her underworld and the adventure begins!!!!

As with [book:The Son of Sobek|17312201], this little story hints about a Greek/Egyptian gods mash-up comming in the future and I really hope it does! Although Riordan's chapter structure and writing style in his previous books became a little repetitive, I still like everything he puts to paper. All the stuff about the different gods, the mythology, the magic (Ha-di!) and the personalities of his characters. Sadie rocks. And so does Annabeth.

Some spoilers ahoy!

Just think what he could do with a Greek/Egyptian mash-up! What happened to Serapis? Who is he, really? What are the rest of the Ptolemy gang up to? What monsters lie in wake? And who is this all-powerful being who woke/raised Serapis in the first place?

I really hope Riordan is writing like crazy. On this possible mash-up, but also on the Norse mythology series Wikipedia mentions. Just think of the possibilities there!

In summary: I loved it!

I bought this book for my Kindle from the store.com. and, once again, I am aorry that I failed to ask for a sample, which will be sent to you for the asking free of charge.

I was disappointed in this book. One reason being that it is a short story. I was happy it was. I think this book was written for a much younger reader. Perhaps the very young adolecent. The lexicon is rather hip-hop and the heroines are very hippie like. I am almost sure the pre-teen and young teenager will enjoy the story line and find it exciting. Also there are sequels to keep up their interests. For this age group I do recommend this short story.

I bought this for 3 bucks and thinking it was a big book but all I get is one chapter and one chapter of "The Blood of Olympus" .I mean I love Rick Ridoran but just add the son of sobek to this and one more chapter along with a hero's of Olympus chapter

This book will definitely please fans of both mythological sides of Rick Riordan sagas. And for those who never read his Egyptian trilogy, this book will make you wish you did even though it could stand on its own. Moreover, the ending foreshadows something vastly important for the shared future of this well-crafted world. A must read.

This book is where Annabeth Chase and Sadie Kane meet!!!!!!!!!! It is awesome! I personally liked this book better than the son of sobek! one of the main reason being that the girls get closer to each other (in the context of friendship) than the guys.
This book is worth the read. I recommend this book to the people who have read the PJ series, The Heroes of Olympus series and the Kane Chronicles.

Enjoy ;)

The only reason I gave this four stars is because I wanted it to be longer! Love the idea of combining two different series in one book, as done in the previous book, son of Sobek! Rick Riordan's done it again!

I think this book is a wonderful way to spend time. I feel like this book has an aura around it that makes you reed it. I like it how it connects with the son of sobek and I am happy to say Rick Riordan made a beautiful book again!

Wow.......
That was interesting.

I have to say, it was okay, good, entertaining.... Although I think Annabeth was acting a little OOC (Even though she's Rick's Original Character: Do Not Steal)

Sadie's humour knows no bounds. hehe.. lol

It's been a while,

Ok it's Scuttle Bonez back for more. I'm here to diss out Staff of Serapis. Rick, you are the worst author I've ever seen. This book was just a repeat of Son of Sobek, so it was just as lame. Annenbeth was an okay narrator, but she still was too lame and brainy. Her “Ability of Incredible Detail" was just an excuse of you being descriptive. Also, the fact you made this book EXACTLY like Son of Sobek proves you are running out of originality and creativity for your books. I was a fan before, but I realize just how bad your books are. They lack all creativity. Your first series was awesome, I wont complain about that. But soon I'll get my reviews on The Heroes of Olympus. Wait Til next week. Scuttle Bonez out.

In this short story by Rick Riordan we follow Annabeth and Sadie as they meet for the first time and have to team up to overcome a God that should not be.
This was a fun read. Not as good as it could have been, but fun. I think my first issue is how weak Annabeth comes off. I understand the author is trying to show how strong or over powered the situation is, but after everything Annabeth has been through she shouldn't come off as a child. Particularly when compared to Sadie.
Annabel is a demigod, Sadie a magician and chosen of Isis. They are both exceptionally stronger characters and should be fairly balanced. But Riordan writes the pair with Sadie as the older, wiser character which makes no sense given what Annabeth has been through. Not to mention that Annabeth is older than Sadie. Yes in the end it's Annabeth's plan that leads to victory but if feels more like a way out than an actually conclusion.
In the previous book Percy meets Carter and they matched and balanced each other, and paired nicely. Here it felt forced and only there to move the story along enough for the third book to exist.
I would recommend this book as a way to get to the next, hopefully better, book. It's sad when a series doesn't live up to expectations.

This is the second year in a row Mr. Riordan has gifted (blessed, teased, tortured, etc) us with a short story combining the worlds of Percy Jackson and the Kane Chronicles. In this segment it is Annabeth and Sadie who get to meet and join forces against a monster who is oddly connected to both worlds.

In this one we learn a bit more about who is behind the magic and theories are formulated as to why it is happening. It seems very much like Mr. Riordan might be a bit more than hinting at a major story line involving the Olympians and the Egyptians. Whether it is a single-title or a series of books, nothing has yet been confirmed.

Overall, Riordan Fans will salivate over this story, and the awesome bonus of being able to read a chapter from the final Heroes of Olympus book Blood of Olympus.

Once again another great story from Rick Riordan, a short and sweet entertaining story where the world of Greek Mythology and Egyptian gods collide. But not with the expected results if Annabeth Chase or Sadie Kane have anything to do with it. As they each stumble into each other while chasing down different monsters, they use their combined knowledge to figure out how to deal with the newest challenge, most bizarre challenge yet. I really liked how much history was put into it, showing how tangled up history can be. It is a neat story that is hopefully setting up for a bigger cross over series to come.

The mash-up series of the year. The fans of Carter and Sadie have long expected and hoped for the new troubles foretold by their mother in the trilogy ending. Percy Jackson fans, or rather Peter Johnson as Mr. D. would say, are pining for more now that everything looks finished in the world of Greek demigods. Which can only mean one thing-it's not. And let's not forget about the fanfiction and shipping crowds. Cannabeth! Padie! (I mean seriously-Sadie Jackson? Perfect! And Annabeth Kane? Flows right off the tongue!) Rick is a genius when it comes to attracting new crowds. I only hope that this is the next chapter of Camp Half-Blood and Brooklyn House. I am a fan of both series and fusing them is like Reeses Cereal or Moonpies or Snuggies or even the Blue Eyes Ultimate Dragon from fricken YU-GI-OH!. This will be great.

These books are really fun reads! I'm really grateful to Riordan that he's been willing to write these cute little stories that incorporate characters from his Egyptian series. Having the teens play off of each other with their backgrounds that are similar but unrelated is a really neat way of seeing them through a fresh perspective, but without the needed exposition if they were meeting some average teenagers.

If you pay close attention as you are reading both series, there are small Easter eggs that let you know that the two series are happening in the same universe, its very fun to actually see the characters collide!

Ok Riordan now we know what you are up to! I can tell there is going to be a new series. Greeks+ magicians= AWESOME! Why not throw in some Romans (Frank, Hazel, Reyna, etc.)! This book was epic, but just hurry up and make the series! I AM TIRED OF WAITING! If you have not heard of the Percy Jackson series or the Kane chronicles you are totally missing out on the bomb diggety plus you may be insane. So read this book! It combines two courageous girls from two not to different cultures. Here is a sneak peek, Sadie and Annabeth have to battle a power hungry god that wants to destroy the Greek and Egyptian gods who is this God? What does he wants? Find out in staff of Serapis! I am so glad that Annabeth and Percy are still together. After Rick Riordan makes the series with Greeks and magicians, he should make a series about Percy's children (whoever the mother may be,)! So make the series Riordan and please amuse us!

I have yet to find a book written by Rick Riordan that I do not like. His writing is funny and his dialogue is never stilted and painful to read. In this novella series, Riordan continues to craftily merges his two series, and it works. I love how Annabeth and Sadie have to work together to figure out which monster/god they are fighting, and for once, Annabeth doesn't come up with the answers right away, and we don't see that much in the Percy Jackson books. We also see her struggle to be the one out-of-the-know. The Egyptian world/magic really disorients her, especially because Sadie, the younger and surely the less experienced of the two, doesn't seem to be phased by anything. I really enjoyed that interaction.

I can't wait to see what Riordan has next for this small series.

Only 60% is the story. The last 40% is a preview of Lost Hero.

I wasn't convinced the good guys won. Their fight didn't make sense. Massive spells and dropping buildings on a guy does nothing, but a dagger can destroy him?

Cool blend of two series. Riordan's combination of worlds and series reminds me of Sanderson's cosmere.

Fun addition to the Percy Jackson series (I haven't yet read Carter Kane, so I can't speak to that). An extremely quick read in part of the little trilogy of novellas. I enjoyed the way Annabeth and Sadie worked together combining their differences into a cohesive whole.

Being a gargantuan Rick Riordan fan and having read and enjoyed The Son of Sobek, I preordered this one, expecting it to be just as good as its predecessor.

I was wrong.

It was SO. MUCH. BETTER. (No offense to the previous book, which I loved, but this one is better. No question.)

I loved (spoilers);

The interaction between Sadie and Annabeth, unbelievably uproarious! How I love these characters.
The mention of Setne and some of his intentions being revealed
The additional chapter of Blood of Olympus, giving me major speculation material for these next few months
The plot line (so much packed so well into this story)
THE DIALOGUE (as always)
"As of this moment, my brother's name is Punching Bag."
"The future is a good thing! It's cute and fuzzy!"
"I bet five quid and a plate of Gran's burnt scones…"

Anyway, if you like Rick Riordan, please buy this for a fantastically funny and dynamic read!

Another great short story from the (shared) worlds of Percy Jackson and the Kane family, this time focused on the meeting of Annabeth Chase and Sadie Kane. Like "The Son of Sobek" before this, I really enjoy these cross-over stories, and hope that Rick Riordan plans further stories like this.

If you're a fan of either Percy Jackson or the Kane Chronicles, you should definitely check this out.

Another wonderful story featuring two characters from his Kane chronicles and heroes of Olympus series. I picked it up and didn't put it down until I had finished. It is a nice short story leaving wanting more from Rick Riordan. If only he could write as fast as I read. Kids and adults alike will love this new tale combining Greek and Egyptian mythology.

Absolutely brilliant! Read this on a quiet bus ride and had to deal with frowns from other riders every time I laughed so loud. It was great seeing Annabeth and Sadie working together. Missed Sadie's sarcasm, she's hilarious. Can't wait to see what other Egyptian/ Greek crossover Rick has in store for us.

This is a quick, light installment from Riordan. It involves Annabeth Chase and Sadie Kane. I assume that he's going to have a series involving both groups after the current Heroes of Olympus series is over. The book was okay, but it kind of made Annabeth out to be a big wimp through most of it. I guess it's a way to tie-in the two separate groups, but it could have been much better.

My copy of this book was in the mark of athena so I got it early. It's probably clear that there will be an Egypt/Greek mashup although I have a therory the egypt magitians will show up in Blood of Olympus. That would equal Egypt/Greek/Roman. That would be EPIC. Anyway, (spoilers) Setne summons Serapis who tries to take over the world and absorb Isis and Athena's essense or something, while he's at it. Their relationship is totaly different from Carter and Percy's. For one, the boys are suspicious of each other and have a shaky trust of each other. The girls, though, got along fine. They didn't punch each other with giant fists, or try to drow each other with tsunamis. GO EGYPT/ROME/GREEK/NORSE! (lets face it, that would be awesome). Oh, and Riordan, some people who read the books say that you are going to make LEO DIE IN BLOOD OF OLMPUS!!!!!! You better not do that. :) ;)
