While many people are talking these books down I think it is more that they are still good books but they are not as good as those first 7-10 books in this series.

Sherry and Basileios made a great couple and the book was very entertaining IMHO but maybe its been so long since I read one of these books but I don't remember them being full of so much filler sex as this one but that could be me. I started scanning those encounters unless there was something unique about it (most were not).

I DID like the story and the heroine, I have mixed feelings about the ending but at the same time considering the reader kind of already knows what is going to happen it would seem Lynsay Sands decided to spare us the gruesome details which is probably a good thing.

Bottom Line: I really did enjoy it more than I have most of the last 5-6 in this series and thought an earlier review did have one true statement in that I felt it was getting closer to the original books but none of these seem to recapture that humor or maybe it is because we have already read most of those situations BUT since I can reread those early books and still laugh out loud at them I think it is more that something is missing. It was a true 4 Star novel, good plot, good story, good characters so what's not to like?

Sherry Crane gets drawn into the Immortal world when the perky Stephanie, mini-matchmaker in the making, tried to escape the big bad Leonius. When Sherry and Basil are informed they are both life partners, they don't query it or get to spend much time together without the Argeneau bunch interfering.

Basil isn't the most dynamic of heroes. He and a female friend decided to have a kid together as a way of staving off boredom and giving themselves something to live for. They don't stop at one however but decide to have 26!!!! As you can only have one child every 100 years (assuming there are no twins) then he has spent 2600 years with a woman that he can casually toss aside.

Sherry was definitely dealt a dodgy hand what with her father and the life mate she ended up with. She seemed like a decent person but she accepted the existence of Immortals and life mate stuff way too quickly. Maybe if she had been paired with someone a little more dynamic, I could have enjoyed her more as a character but her constant capitulation, especially regarding her father was irritating.

Even if you put the main characters to one side, I still didn't enjoy the novel. I'm sorry. I tried. I couldn't get past the way Sherry's father justified mind controlling and raping her mother. I didn't care that he felt bad about it afterwards. I also didn't care that he was drunk at the time. No means no. Rape is rape. There are no excuses.

I cannot recommend this book to anyone who has strong views on sexual assault as I suspect the trivialisation of rape will upset you. Sands has written some really funny, sweet and sexy novels but, for me, this wasn't one of them.

This review is going to be a bit of a mess, I just finished reading it and I usually take a day or two before I write the review just to get everything in perspective. Anyways moving along….

Basileios Argeneau is a 3,538 year old immortal who is now a lawyer. I guess he’s vampire in more than one way (get it cause lawyers are considered bloodsuckers…no? I’ll stop) He is Lucian and Victor’s brother. He is said to be bossy, stubborn and quite a lot like Lucian which is why they often have arguments and Basil prefers living in New York.

Sherry Carne is the owner of a kitchenware store in Toronto. She is also very much a mortal. Her mother died a couple of years ago and her father abandoned her after her brothers death when she was a child. She is a workaholic and really wants her business to thrive which is why she doesn’t many friends or other hobbies.

Let me start off by saying that for quite a few years I really loved this series, it had cool vampires, a lot of humor, sweet and soft romance with some sexy time but something changed in the last couple of books.

There was just a lot of stuff happening in the book. The romance was practically non-existence, they only met a couple of days and while some books manage to make me think that the protagonists are actually in love after only meeting each other a couple of days, this book didn’t. Also the I love you’s came a bit too early for me considering they don’t know each other and yes I know they are meant to lifemates and most of the couples in the series had only known each other for a small amount of time as well but those couples atleast spend a lot together and were not just trying to find some immortal criminal or were hiding from some criminal immortal with a whole bunch family members.

Quibbles: Apart from the lack of romance, Basil had 22 oh sorry 26 children (four of which died) with another woman who was not his lifemate, she was his ‘friend’. Seriously unless the children were born from in-vitro, you have to feel something for the woman you have 22 children with. Basil said that it was because him and Mary were lonely, tired of living and wanted a reason for living, fine I could understand that I could even understand having till about 4 children together but 22. Are you kidding me?

I guess whenever they felt tired of living again, they decided to have a child and I think the reason Basil doesn’t have more children is because of the 1 child per a hundred year rule. He says that they don’t now and have never lived together, how does that work if they both wanted a child and both of them raised them? Their youngest child is only 25 years old. Sherry is only 32 years old herself and she doesn’t have children or is planning to. Now she’s a step mother to 22 children. How can Sherry be okay with that, maybe it would have been different if had children with some women and not just one woman nope I don’t think so. How can anyone be ok with that is beyond me…

Other than that Elvi (Victor’s mate from The Accidental Vampire), she really annoyed me, her behaviour first when she accused Sherry, then making Sherry dress up in her choice of clothes and then her apology to Sherry…it just bugged me. Lastly, Sherry I felt for her, the poor woman’s life gets uprooted and she ends up in a house full of vampires but she took it quite well too well…the immortal presence in her life and the fact of how quickly she forgave her father for all he did, did not sit well with me either. She was mad at him for a couple of minutes and then BAAM she forgives him because of a something Elvi says.

I miss the older books style where the couple actually had alone time without their whole family in the same house and meddling with every little thing/aspect of their life. Give them space people! I also miss the humor.

I know I sound pretty harsh but I just expected more from this book. *sad sigh*

Overall, this just didn’t work for me….I might still read Justin Bricker's story if he ever gets one but for now I’m be giving up on this series.

I am absolutely flabbergasted. If I were talking instead of writing, I would be practically speechless. We're up to book 21 in the Argeneau series, and while Sands has at times struggled to remain fresh and coherent, it has still been an enjoyable series. But this book? I had problems with this book. Don't even bother reading if you don't want spoilers, because that is all I am going to be doing here.

The book starts off kind of novel, lots of drama and violence, and Stephanie (the teen Edentate i.e. vampire without fangs who isn't crazy from previous books) is the heir apparent in finding life mates. And this time, instead of maneuvering, Stephanie is very up front, hey vampires are real and this is your life mate, this is what a vampire is, all of that, it is right out in the open. Consequently, I think a new reader could actually start here, which is unusual for such a long running series. Everything was going along fairly smoothly, and while Sherry and Basil's chemistry wasn't the best (nothing like Basil's bother Lucien and his lifemate Leigh) I was enjoying this more than the previous couple of books, and then we hit the first speed bump: the hero Basil, has been having babies every 100 years or so over the past 3000 years with a friend of his, and as recently 25 years ago. Ok, that threw me for a loop. But he explained and while I was still not precisely thrilled with it, I understood his motivations, life is boring and they found having children fulfilling. So on we went. Then we got closer to the end and we started realizing Sherry had been controlled by a vampire her entire life. Turns out her father, while an effed up drunken immortal 19 year old, used mild mind control to convince Sherry's happily married mother to have sex with him. Later he found Sherry's mother in a hospital after she tried to kill herself over a pregnancy from an infidelity she couldn't understand, and he used mind control on them to try to fix his mistake and he stuck around. When Sherry's parents eventually divorced, he stepped in as an uncle. As Sherry aged, he wiped his image from her mind to show back up as her best friend. Later he did it again and got her to hire him for her new business. And all the while wen she went off the rails, so to speak, he would control her or wipe her mind to "fix" things. Naturally, Sherry was completely devastated and righteously angered. But then Elvi, who seemed a reasonable and sensible person in her own book, turned into a sociopath and explained how what Sherry's sperm donor did was alright because mortal parents would do it if they could, and the rape really wasn't that bad because it wasn't a violent violation. WTF? Then Basha (from a previous book also) finally had to/got to kill her own son Leo, who is the true villain of this current story arc. And Sherry realized everything is hunky dory and she looks to go rescue her dad from the horrific punishment he is due (violent though the punishment was, it seemed like an appropriate one to me). Sherry and Basil admit their love, they find out Sherry's paternal grandfather will be showing up, and the book basically ends.

So basically, I am not at all pleased with this book. I am not pleased with the way this book handles consent, and I am not pleased with this lopped off ending. I honestly don't know if I am finished with this series, but unless something spectacular is happening in the next book I am doubtful I will continue. I am sorry to say, but this story has negatively colored the entire series for me. No rating from me, only disappointment.

Another neat twist on the same old story - this time with a tough and independent woman with some questionably vampire-related beginnings.

If we met Basil before now, I totally don't remember it. He seems like a lighter version of Lucien, also having lost a previous life mate in his history. Unlike Lucien, he's also got a bunch of kids from another woman who was also losing hope in life. While not a true couple, it certainly adds a new dimension to the story. So, how does he meet Sherry? We finally get another visit from Stephanie. She turns up, bursting in the office of Sherry's store while trying to escape the big bad. Sherry is unable to be controlled at first attempt, which leads them to forge a bit of an alliance in their escape.

So how do they end up together? Stephanie has a version of the matchmaker ability that we've seen push people together for many books previous. Sherry, as most women would, fights a little bit against having her life determined for her (oh, if she only knew). Throw in lots of fun new friends, undeniable attraction, and life threatening situations and you've got a recipe for a solid HEA, though. I was happy to also have some resolution of the larger storyline here. Bring on the next couple! Oh, and as a side note, I think Bricker is becoming more and more of a jerk as time goes on. I really hope he gets his life mate (who has to be Livvy, right?).

After 20 some books the series has had it’s up’s and down’s for me. I have my favorites and the not so great ones, but this time around I wasn’t disappointed and had a marvelous time returning to the Argeneau series.

I’d say this book can be read as a stand-a-lone or be a starter into the series.

The Immortal Who Loved Me delivers a new storyline with a little mystery, humor, and a sweet romance.

I loved the start. Sherry won me over on the very fist page. I liked her and liked that she had a good head on her shoulders. Stephanie, a little girl we have seen pop in and out of the books, was a nice addition. The poor girl has it ruff. I liked her interaction with Sherry and loved her comparing lifemates to pizza when explaining things to Sherry. Made me laugh.

The humor was remarkable in this one. I loved the miss pronounce of Basil (pronounced Baw-zil). Took me by surprise and had me smiling. Then their was Bricker he was kinda of an ass in this one, but boy did he have me laughing when he spit out all the different names for a mans penis. Yes, their are several names to call a mans penis and that whole scene was hilarious. Really, you need to read it.

Basil was adorable. He totally screwed up explaining things and had Sherry thinking someone slipped her something, until they shared their first kiss and then, well she starts to rethink things. I loved Basil and Sherry. They had several great moments. It was just so much fun reading about these two.

It was fantastic for me as a fan of the series to see old favorites pop in. I just love seeing old characters in any storyline show up.

We finally and I mean finally get closer on Livius, one of the bad guys who has been reeking havoc throughout several books. I’m glad that’s done, but we still have one more bad guy and all of Livius sons to find, but part of this plot comes to a closer and I’m glad.

I did have some issues with the book.
- I didn't like how abruptly the ending was. We learn that Sherry’s paternal grandfather will show up and then the book ends.
- I also wasn’t to found of how this book handles consent when we learn some very disturbing things about Sherry’s mother’s past and who her really father is. This was explained by Elvi, but how it was explained ya it makes some sense, but still it’s rape in a form.
- I also felt that Basil and Sherry needed to talk more about the kids. Basil has had a kid every 100-years with a friend. This was just said and then they move on. I can understand where he's coming from, living so long, but still it's a hard issue to tackle and I felt the author didn't tackle it. I wouldn't be able to move on from this very easily.

Even with the few issues I had, I still ended up really liking this book. The Immortal Who Loved Me brought me back to what I love about this series. A fun loving story filled with characters to fall in love with and humor to keep you laughing.

Sherry Carne owns a kitchenware shop and she’s proud of it, business is looking good. She’s thinking life is coming along well when suddenly a teenage girl runs into her store, hides in Sherry’s office and begins telling her outrageous things about reading minds, no-fangers, and when the worst of the no-fangers, Leo, manages to make one of her customers cut her own throat, Sherry discovers her life will never be the same again.

Basil Argeneau – that’s Baw-zil, not Bay-sil – has been waiting a lifetime, a very long lifetime, for a life mate. When he’s introduced to a mortal woman who is being hunted by Leonius Livius, he goes into full protective mode like any good immortal who’s just met his life mate would. It isn’t going to be easy for him though, since Sherry isn’t any ordinary life mate. She’s a very independent woman with a will of her own and perhaps, a secret even she doesn’t know.

In a nutshell, I love the Argeneaus. Lynsay Sands can put together just about any kind of story featuring an Argeneau or Argeneau relation and I’m going to get excited about reading it. Not always, am I completely satisfied by each one, but it doesn’t keep me from coming back for the next one. Well, in THE IMMORTAL WHO LOVED ME, Lynsay leads off with action, carries us forward with more action, some very steamy life mate sex between Basil and Sherry, and then manages to keep us guessing clear to the end about what is going to happen regarding the evil no-fanger, Leo and wondering who is misdirecting Sherry. I have to admit that my imagination was going in all kinds of directions, but I love the way Lynsay puts it all together in the end.

As usual, we are treated to characters from past books that we’ve come to know and love, including our favorite mischievous enforcer, Justin Bricker. I hear his story is in the works. Yay! In THE IMMORTAL WHO LOVED ME, it’s definitely a family affair trying to keep Sherry and Stephanie safe from the evil clutches of Leo and his sons with a lot of fun banter, sexy innuendos, and keeping tabs on Stephanie, who is simply a normal teenager with a little too much know-how.

I highly recommend THE IMMORTAL WHO LOVED ME by Lynsay Sands if you’re a fan of the Argeneaus because it’s fun, action-packed, immortal sexy, and gives us some definite satisfaction. If you’ve never delved into the world of the Argeneaus then please do, because they’re not your normal paranormal romance. They are funny, sexy, emotional, and strangely normal. Give ‘em a try, you might just fall in love with these amazing characters and be as hooked as the rest of us.

I was really excited to get the opportunity to read the 21st book in Lynsay Sands’ Argeneau series. Please check out our tour stop with an excerpt from the book and a chance to win one of the books from the series.

On to the review…

The Immortal Who Loved Me starts with an exciting scene that grabbed my attention. I got hooked into the story, especially to see if Sherry and Basil were really life mates. Normally, I am not into stories that focus on life mates, soul mates, destined mates, or any other kind of mates. But, in this book the concept was actually interesting and made sense to me because life mates are determined more by compatible energy than by some predetermined or predestined force.

I liked how the romance didn’t just happen automatically. The characters actually took time to learn things about one another. However, this development slowed the pace. After the first chapter that had lots of danger, not much else happens besides talking and kissing until around the halfway point in the book.

From that point on, the pace picked back up; there was less talking and more action. Towards the end, I was glued to the pages because surprises kept coming and I wanted to see what else was going to happen that I might not have expected.

I also liked how Lynsay Sands slips some humor into the love story now and then. I laughed out loud in a few places.

Overall, I thought this was a great book. Just don’t expect lots of action. If you are in it for the romance and some hot sex, this is definitely a book you should check out.

I recommend it to readers who like well-developed characters, lots of dialogue, sexy vampires, and/or stories about mates who actually have a choice about being together.

I'm having mixed feelings about some of these later books in the series. I feel like they have lost some of their grip... I can't imagine it's easy to keep adding characters and having the reader fall for them in the same capacity we did with the original cast. That being said I did enjoy the story and the background behind Sherry. Sherry is a mortal who gets pulled into the immortal world when Stephanie tries to hide in her store while being chased by bad guy Leo. When Stephanie takes Sherry with to avoid Leo she quickly realizes the mortal is a life mate to one of the gang. Sherry takes this all in amazing stride and is rather receptive to the entire immortal story. It's evident to the gang that unbenounced to Sherry she has been regularly exposed to an immortal for a long time. The story splits focus between Sherry & Basil's life mate status, the hunt for Leo, and who the immortal in Sherry's past was. As a library reader I'm all too glad I grab these up for free.

Review courtesy of All Things Urban Fantasy:

I need to preface this review with a confession: I have read most, if not all, of the Argeneau Vampire series, and if I hadn't, I am not sure I would have enjoyed THE IMMORTAL WHO LOVED ME as much as I did. Still, there are a bunch of things to like in this latest instalment.

Lynsay Sands' dialogue is always spot on, and I love a series that doesn't take itself too seriously. Her characters are able to have light, funny moments as well as dramatic ones, which makes reading the Argeneau books fun and easy. Sands uses dialogue really well as foreshadowing in this novel, and it was subtle enough that I only realised what was going on a few pages before the characters; that is exactly what you want, so that you can relish the characters' reactions.

As well as being a love story between two fun and interesting characters (a smart, business owner and a 2000 year old vampire lawyer), this book also wraps up a continuing storyline, where a “no-fanger” (a mad, homocidal fang-less vampire) is trying to get a young girl he kidnapped and turned back from the Argeneau family and killing tons of humans in the process. Stephanie, the teenager, is very well written, and it's nice to have a character who isn't madly in love/lust for once. She is entertaining and pertinent to the story, without being a slave to the lifemate madness.

A lifemate is a vampire's “fated” love, the only person they cannot control and whose mind they cannot read. It is an interesting concept, and finding your lifemate is supposed to be super special. Earlier books in the series relied on chance meetings, but in the last few books, two of the characters have discovered that they can read people's energy and can tell instantly is someone they meet is a lifemate for someone they have met before. In this book, they literally set up a blind date with two characters that they know will click. Boring.

There were also a lot of characters in this book. I felt as if the entire casts of the previous twenty books were, if not present, at least mentioned in passing. Honestly, I don't care if the couple from book twelve is in England chasing a rogue vampire. Enough name-dropping!

I felt that THE IMMORTAL WHO LOVED ME shows the series' age, but also introduced some cool concepts and mythology to the Argeneau world. I am looking forward to the next book, which according to the blurb, will not have as simple of a lifemate setup.

It's hard to believe that Lynsay Sands has written 21 Argeneau Books. But The Immortal Who Loved Me is the 21st book in this endearing series.

Sherrie Crane has lived a pretty normal and boring life. Having worked hard most of her life to get where she is, the owner of a small shop. But one day changes everything. It seems a normal boring life is no longer in the cards... Due to the invasion of said shop by some rather strange individuals she knows terms like fang eaters and rogue immortals and rogue hunters.. oh and that vampires really do exist. Now she's on the run and learning all sorts of things about herself. Like there's more to her life than she remembers..

Basileios Argeneau is a typical Argeneau, stubborn, strong willed, pig headed.. *grins* Having survived the fall of Atlantis Basil has lived a long and lonely life. Only his children (all 22 of them) have made life worth living. But now it seems, a freak meeting has found Basil his life mate and it's his job to convince her that Vampires aren't necessarily the bad guys.

This was not my favorite Argeneau book. Don't get me wrong it had it's moments, the conversation on how to pronounce Basil's name alone makes it worth the read but it didn't have that wow factor that I enjoy in Ms. Sands' books. At times it seemed like she threw in the kitchen sink and the plot line sort of rambled.

If I had started the Argeneau's here I would have felt like this was a good book but not worth going back for a second peak. It wasn't a bad book it was just eh..

What I did enjoy is seeing so many of the other couples, watching how they have grown and what they are doing with their lives. And Ms. Sands does wrap up the Leo storyline.. of course the man had like a kazillion kids so they aren't all gone but it is time for a new over all arc.

Damned with faint praise, that's how I feel about this review. It wasn't a bad book.. sort of like I came to bury "Caesar not to praise him"... It's an easy read so if you just need a warm fuzzy, this could do it. But don't look for any earthshaking..

This was a very good story. I liked both Basil and Sherry very much and their story was enjoyable. I've read the whole series and to be honest I've been worrying that the stories would get boring but happily I haven't seen it yet.

Sherry is a nice woman in her early 30s that owns her own kitchenware store. Her mother died a few years back and she doesn't have any other close family. She's got friends but has been too busy building her business to date much.

Basil is the brother to Victor (book #7) and Lucian (book #6). He's a very old Immortal and has lived a very long life. He has been without his lifemate but has had children with a friend to give him something in life to hold on to. Basil has had many careers over the years but currently works as a lawyer (in addition to being a member of the Immortal council).

The story begins when Stephanie (a teen vamp from book #11) comes running into Sherry's office . Sherry is surprised by this and even more surprised when the one-way window into the store shows 4 men walk in and start terrorizing people. Stephanie basically decides to run and try to draw the bad guys (who are rogue Immortals) away but Sherry won't let her go alone and they both run. They're able to draw the rogues away and then escape them but they're still in danger so Stephanie calls in the rogue hunters (Immortal police). The thing is, Stephanie has some special gifts and can see energy signatures that lets her see who would be good lifemate for Immortals. She has the Immortals coming to get her bring Basil along so that he and Sherry can meet. Stephanie also explains to Sherry about Immortals and lifemates. Obviously, it's a lot to take in but Sherry does pretty good at handling things while they try to figure out if she and Basil actually are lifemates.

Basil is rather laid back for the most part but he has a bit of a dominant side that comes out when needed. Sherry is put in the Immortal version of witness protection and so Basil goes with her, both so they can get to know each other as well as so Basil can keep her safe. They end up in Port Henry for a short time but issues show up that indicate enough of a risk that they move on before long. This brings about the realization that there may be another immortal (other than the original rogue) causing them issues. Meanwhile, like most new lifemates, Sherry & Basil have a hard time keeping their hands off of each other but they do manage to spend some time talking and getting to know each other. They have to deal with a few different issues but once everything gets figured out and the rogue is dealt with, Sherry and Basil end the story starting to plan their HEA together.

I enjoyed this story very much. Sherry was a good, non-annoying heroine that I was happy to see get her guy. Basil is a good hero but as I said, he's rather calm, cool and collected and not real forceful for the most part, still he seems to do pretty good at being that way without seeming like a wimp. My only real complaint is the ending. The relationship and the main conflict got resolved nicely but the was a secondary plotline that felt like it was left hanging a bit and I wish Sands had given us a bit more of a conclusion on that part. Regardless of that, this story was very good and (as usual) the characters are very likable. I'd recommend it. :D

Note - I listened to the audio version and the narrator did a great job.

The Immortal Who Loved Me by Lynsay Sands
Argeneau Series Book Twenty-One
Sherry Carne is pretty content. At thirty-two she owns her own business and it's doing well. In one day her life turns inside out after a young teenager runs into her office to hide. Vampires? The girl claims the creepy men who were chasing her are vampires. And that her, that sweet looking teenager, is one as well. Can the day get any more weird? Yes.

Basileious Argeneau, or Basil as he's known by, has lived a very long time. When his sister-in-law, Marguerite, claims she has found his life mate, he goes to meet this mysterious woman. His hopes are high. It's lonely being an old immortal. He quickly finds that women have changed a bit. They aren't quite so biddable as he would expect.

Another great addition to the Argeneau series. Many of the characters who had their stories in previous books, join the fun and humor in Sherry and Basil's story. It's not all fun and games though, as the no-fangers make their appearance. Leo isn't ready to give up on his quest to get Stephanie back just yet. The next book, About a Vampire, is Justin Bricker's story.

First of all let me start off in saying I love Lynsay Sands and this series. I recently started reading them all over again to renew my self with the characters. I have to agree with another reviewer who stated that the first 10 books or so are her best of the series. Anyone who has read this series from book one has to be at least somewhat let down at what the books have become. I too believe the Ms. Sands is indeed tired of this series and just doesn't know how to end it or maybe she is under a contract and has to produce so many books in this series, who knows? I do know that seems to be the way a lot of series are going....After the main characters are matched up with "Lifemates" (in this case) the books take on a whole new look. Almost like someone else is writing them. My first issue with this book is that Stephanie immediately tell Sherry about vampires, lifemates and such in a pizza place no less like it is not a big secret. When I remember Lucian threatening to kill Rachel to protect the secret and Evie being investigated by the counsel for not keeping the secret....it is beyond believable that we are at the place where we can just talk about it casually. Sherry not only is not shocked she takes the information well and goes along with these "vampires" with no reservations. Lucian basically tells her she has to stay at his house and she just accepts it. What happened to all the fire in the women? Basil immediately tell her he is her lifemate and she goes along with it. There is no romance at all. In fact they start by testing the theory's of lifemates like eating, reading her mind and sex. In the back of my mind I keep thinking "what in the world"? I kept waiting on Lynsay to fill in the blanks but no that did not happen. I have to admit I stopped reading half way through just because 1, It was not in the least interesting and I found my self skipping pages , 2, This book seemed so choppy I decided I wouldn't waste my time. I am really disappointed in how and why these authors agree to a series and then seem to not give it there full effort after so many books. I may try Brickers book but I am not positive. I might have to add Lynsay to the growing list of authors that I no longer read because they seem to abandon there series long before the readers do......Please get this at the library if you want to read it, that way at least you wont feel cheated.

I just love this book. The only reason I took off a star is that I just did not feel that the ending was truly finished. The book didn't have a cliff hanger ending but I felt like there should of been a little more to the story ending than was given.

Falling back into the storyline we had in the rogue hunter plot line Leo is once again after Stephine. This time taking her into Sherry shop where Stephine decide to take time from saving her own life to play match maker and drag Sherry into the immortal world. Unlike other mortals who have no clue that immortals (vampires) are real, Sherry doesn't have the usual freak out reaction to everything happening to her. For it seasons the reason she so hard to read and control is that she has had a immortal secretly in her past over years and its a mystery to find out who that is while trying to keep both Steph and Cherry safe from Leo.

The fact that the back of the book and Lynsay Sands web site doesn't list any title name for next in the series makes me wonder if this is the final book or not, I do like how most of the characters from the series past books are either brought into this book or referenced by name to show they haven't been forgotten about over time.

I have read all of Lynday Sands' books except for the last 3 or so. I think I started losing interest around the time the Rogue Hunter series started. I was especially disturbed by Stephanie and Dani being turned into endente. They just seemed to get darker and darker. I think Ms. Sands may be getting back on track with this one though, and I enjoyed reading it. There were LOL moments in the beginning, it dragged a bit in the middle, then we were given an interesting twist/mystery. Elvi, Victor and Stephanie play strong rolls in this book, as well as Lucian. It made me want to go back and re-read "Accidental Vampire" (one of my favorites) and "Bite Me if You Can".
Something happens toward the end, which would be a major spoiler if I where to say what it is, so I will just say "Finally!" I know, I know, but it would be unconscionable for me to say more.
I am taking a half a star off for the ending. It was rushed, and incomplete. While I was expecting the last 8% of the book to progress through the turning and for Sherry to meet her grandparents, and to tell what will happen to an important person in her life, it just ends and goes in to summaries of previous Argeneau books.

I love Lynsay Sands, but I have to admit that I think this is the worst book in the series. The main couple feels overshadowed by the return of many characters, so much that Basil, the lead male, feels like a cookie-cut immortal. (Spoilers ahead!) All we know about him is that he is Lucian's slightly younger brother, he has several kids with a woman who is not his lifemate, and he's on the council. Oh, and of course he is Sherry's lifemate and thus falls crazy in lust for her. But we never see much of his personality. He's stubborn like his brother. That's about it. And there isn't much in the way of his bonding with Sherry. I mean, there's lots of immortal sex (even slight bondage hehe) but no growing affection. I don't know about other readers, but I'm more interested in the story and the characters than the sex. Of the two, Sherry is more developed, but even then she feels like a teenager who loses all the independent woman she could have been when she meets her lifemate. I know, it's supposed to illustrate the gravity of lifemates, but the past heroines have all maintained identities separate from their life mates.
I sound ranty, I'm sure, but I absolutely adore this series, and this book was disappointing.

This may be the 21st book in the series but it was a great read. Somehow this author continues to write engaging characters that meet and fall in love admist a life threatening situation that actually continues to surprise. Seriously you'd think romance check mystery murder check being predictable, but each book twists and reveals a psychological drama that is startling and fresh. Impressive.

If you are up for a paradigm-shifting look at the world of vampires written with a whole lot of imagination, a cupful of laughter and a generous portion of spicy naughtiness, then this book is for you. Definitely not for children.

While I love the Argeneau series, I think it's time for them to end. These past few books have been lack-luster at best. I miss the intrigue and novelty of the first 6 books. Plus, I miss getting character updates for Luc, Etienne, Bastien, Lissa, etc.

All that said, I continue to read them! They are predictable, but fun.

I usually give the Argeneau books an automatic 5 stars but I've felt with the last few books that every member of the family is stuffed into each book. If I was a new reader, not a follower from book 1 I would be totally lost with everyone and their lifemate showing up in the story.

I love the Lynsay Sands Argeneau Vampire books. Yes, they all involve finding a life-mate, but the individuals and their situations and reactions are so different, and the books are written with such interesting side-plots, that they remain fresh and entertaining.

Oh lord where to start! I usually love Lynsay's books, but this one just fell flat. There was not a lot of the usual humor found in this one and the the hero had 26 children with another woman, plus a past life mate. Ok I realize he over 3500 years old and may have a child or 2, but 26!!!!! I thought they lost joy in sex after a while, he latest kid was only 25, so I just felt he a was a a man-ho, even though they were with the same woman. Then he tells the heroine, that because the mother was not a life ate, just a long time friend, that makes it alright, and he has no feeling s for her. I'm sorry, if you have 26 kids with someone, over 3500 years, she is going to be in your life and be important. Life mate or not. I'd never feel important enough, especially since the heroine doesn't really ever want kids. Their chemistry I just didn't buy, it was like Basil was forcing himself because everyone told him she was his life mate, and so he just went with it. Ugh I felt Gypt reading it, hoping since he was Lucian's brother he would be a funny and explosive, but he was a total dud. I love the series, but this was a real let down. Hint to author, no one wants a hero, who has a platoon of kids, especially with someone other than the heroine!!!

She's one of my favorite authors, ever. Her only flaw is I have a story idea that can't be done by any other author, in any other "world" (ok, I could write it, but there are all these pesky laws.....) that I will GIVE her FREE ...... ok, put me under contract, my payment is a copy of the book.
...
Maybe name the character after me. Done!

But that's another story for this amazing series.
