From the very first chapter, the author sucks (no pun intended) the reader into the story of a beautiful night shift morgue doctor and a computer game developer vampire. From the very beginning I was intrigued by the relationship between the two main characters. Lynsay Sands once again creates a excellent backdrop to an awesome vampire book series. A must read and guaranteed to make you read it all the way through in one sitting!!!

These books are the most intriguing series. I love all of them and will continue to purchase the whole series. I hope she continues to write more. She is very descriptive in her details it just makes you feel like you are there experiencing the whole story. Her sense of humor is great I find myself laughing out loud and my kids are thinking I am going crazy. Wonderful writer, Love her.

I always thought the coroners had all the fun where can a girl sign up? I really loved the way this story was put together. You can get a real feel for them as they struggle to cope with the joys and frustrations of new love as they grow to know one another. Great book for a lonely rainy day or at least it was for me.

I love this book. I can only wish to have such a beautiful, mysterious, powerful man who is not only smart, but sexually fulfilling, with a lifetime of experiences to prove it. I highly recommend this book. It is so erotic, it will make you hungry for your mate. It creates a strong desire, and teaches and takes you away into another world. Awesome book. You won't be dissapointed.

Book is great but the format is not. I didn't realize it was an MP3 audio book and therefore am unable to listen to it until I purchase an MP3 player, which does not help much since my wife wants to listen in her vehicle.
I will need to be more attentive when buying in the future!

I know Ms. Sands books are suppose to be funny, but they are not they are just supid and silly. This story is about Etienne Argeneau Vampire and his love interest Rachel Garrett Mortician, they meet at Hospital Morgue because Etienne has been shot and apprears to be dead well we know he is not!!!! Etienne has a stalker killer after him who blows him up in his and his car and is constantly trying to find ways to kill him. This is where I have my problem with the story The Vampires in these books have no great powers just mine readers it is nothing interesting about them in this story he doesn't even defend hismself, nor was he able to stop the attack and then the kidnapping of Rachel his love interest he just keeps saying he had to think of away to stop Pudge the villian in the story. I found Ms Sands developed Pudges character an story line better than she did the main to charaters in the story. If somebody is trying to constantly kill you and your girlfriend you are going to do something about it like go on the offense, I Started rooting for Pudge!!! and that sick!!!! Very stupid silly story!!

I really enjoyed Karrlyn Sparks series and on every one of her books in Lyndsay Sands but so far style is presented so it seems far fetched and while i laughed outloud in Sparks this just annoyed me.
Characters come in too fast and youre not really drawn into them.

Apparently Lindsay Sands is playing the Nora Roberts game of rereleasing a book with a different cover in order to trick people into buying it more than once. I am SO sick of that. This novel even comes up in the "new releases" list on the store. It is NOT a new release -- in fact, it was only released in 2004 -- in paperback! -- so it's easily found with the old cover design in bookstores.
Be sure to check your bookshelf and read the description of the book carefully before you buy! Sad when you can't trust that a new release from a favorite author really IS a new release.

Love Bites by Lynsay Sands is the most intriguing yet sexy as hell journey. I was hooked. A human woman falling for a dead corpse who turns out to be a vampire. A sexy and geeky vampire. I loved the geeky twist of the vampire being a video game designer. His human love is a huge fan of his work. Their romance is complicated, messy, and emotional. I couldn't stop reading this book. Plenty of hot scenes and laugh out loud moments included in this story. Overall, I recommend this vampire paranormal romance to all readers.
I received this copy from the publisher. This is my voluntary review.

The story:
In theory, a vampire is pretty darn close to indestructible. But Etienne Argenau finds out the hard way that all it really takes is a determined self-proclaimed vampire hunter with the means to stack up on weapons and gadgets. During Etienne's second involuntary trip to the morgue (once shot, once burnt), the hunter barges in to finish the job - and the confused young doctor in attendance, Rachel Garrett, throws herself between the madman and the miraculously recovered "corpse" and gets an axe in the chest for her troubles.
There is only one way to save her: Etienne is allowed to turn ONE single person in his endless life. Just one. And if she doesn't turn out to be his soulmate, he's in for an eternity of loneliness.
Pros:
I liked the basic idea of the story: what happens when a Vamp lands himself in the morgue more than once? That's bound to be a sticky situation! And what happens when he turns a woman who didn't ask for it and who might not thank him for it, either?
The novel is easy to read and entertaining for an evening or two of light reading - if you don't expect too much.
Cons:
In large parts of the story, I didn't like Rachel much. She's described as a "firecracker" and "prickly", but to me she often sounded like a rude, whiny teenager. I didn't feel any real connection between Rachel and Etienne, either; it felt forced because they *had* to fall in love for the story to work.
The "villain" is introduced on the very first page, and from there, the story pretty much follows a tired old pattern: two people who were thrown together by fate get to know each other, fall in love, face some minor obstacles and a few misunderstandings... Then there's the showdown with the villain and they live happily ever after. There absolutely nothing surprising or new in this novel.
There were some hints that the villain has a tragic backstory, but he's mostly portrayed rather one-dimensional.
It also doesn't really make sense that Etienne doesn't stop him - vampire, mind control? The big show-down at the end was just unbelievable - it was like watching a B-movie.
The sex scenes are numerous, but mostly not very exciting, more like filler to eke out the plot - except for that one scene where Rachel starts thinking about how biting Etienne would be just like biting into a juicy sausage... (You can guess what she's doing at the time. It doesn't end well for him.) That one was memorable, but not necessarily in a good way!
Summary:
I'm sorry if my review sounds mean... I honestly wanted to love the book, but it left me feeling like I'd just eaten a huge helping of cotton candy - sweet and fluffy, but without much substance. Don't get me wrong, sometimes I'm in the mood for cotton candy! I just wish the novel had a bit more of a bite (pun intended).

I was looking for a good paranormal romance book to read and I came across Lynsay Sands. She seemed to have written quite an arsenal of books and all of them were so highly rated I decided to give it a shot. BORING! I will be honest and say that I put the book down about half way and never picked it back up. I didn't like her characters, her plot, the writing style, nothing. I tried to get through it but when it became a fight to continue reading it so early on in the book I stopped.
The main characters were about as interesting as a wet cardboard box and the hero was a total chump. Now there's a word I haven't used in a decade but this book opened up that vault. He seemed entirely uninterested with the fact that a man is trying to kill him, and had attempted it numerous times.
The chemistry between the two main characters was nonexistent. They didn't seem like they would even been acquaintances let alone bed partners, and the one sex scene that I came across before putting the book down was uninspired and just lazy writing. I won't be buying or borrowing anymore of these books, or any book from this author again. I don't think her style is right for me.

This was a sweet & funny light-hearted read that was anything but cliche for its genre. I laughed and swooned through out and even the villain had his funny moments. I didn't even realize that this was a sequel until quite a ways through so it could easily be a stand alone book. I really liked her explanation for vampire's existence and how she squashed a lot of the stereotypes along the way. I could've done without the 'sausage bit' but all in all it was a great read with lovable characters (especially Thomas)and an amusing storyteller at the helm :)

Title: Love Bites
Author: Lynsay Sands
Genre: Contemporary Paranormal Romance
Rating: 4 stars
Summery: When a stalked tries to kill him, Etienne Argeneau finds himself in the morgue. Twice! Rachel Garrett, the night coroner, is mortally injured when Pudge comes to finish off Etienne. Etienne feels he has no choice but to turn the courageous woman who saved his life at the cost of her own.
Fun story, but I myself liked Single White Vampire and Tall, Dark & Hungry better then this one. I love this series. I would recommend it and Lynsay Sands historical romance, they are really fun to read!

There were things I enjoyed about this book and things that didn't work quite as well for me. I thought Rachel's stubborn insistence that she as dreaming was hilarious. The fact that the Argeneaus didn't kill Pudge outright once he started trying to kill Etienne boggles me. For all their good natures, the moment someone tried to put the whammy on one of their own, it shocked me that they allowed it.
Plus, Pudge was annoying. Well, right up to the end when he just became amusing. Poor guy.
For me, this was an amusing, quick read. Etienne and Rachel had some hurdles to overcome in their relationship -- mostly because their relationship started with neither of them knowing much of anything about one another. Etienne probbbbbably needs to work on his communication a bit, but I can see why he wouldn't be the best with words since his entire family can just plop themselves down and read minds. Rachel was surprisingly accepting about the whole thing. Well, once she stopped thinking it was a dream, that is.
Fun, light-hearted, and sometimes ridiculous. There are days when that's exactly what you need in a book. *nods*

Second in the Argeneau paranormal romance series revolving around the Argeneau family.
My Take
Who says you can't meet nice guys at the morgue?
This was a very mild and cute love story involving a computer game designer and a forensic pathologist.
Definitely could use a proofreader here...
I did enjoy the comparison of the morgue world and that of the vampires as they realized their reasons matched in referring to "crispy critters" and "off the hoof". Definitely funny as the Argeneaus attempt to entice Rachel into acceptance.
The Story
Etienne has drawn a little too much attention to himself with his Blood Lust computer game. One computer geek, frustrated over Etienne's continual refusals to employ him, did some in-depth investigation and discovered Etienne's true nature. A nature over which Pudge is conflicted. Kill him or get Etienne to turn him before he releases him. Hmmmm, decisions, decisions.
It's those decisions that cause Etienne to cross Dr. Rachel Garrett's autopsy table twice and resulting in her needing some "vacation" while she copes with her new state and a life-changing decision about lying.
The Characters
Dr. Rachel Garrett has specialized in forensics and she's just learned she's getting promoted out of the night shift!
Etienne Argeneau is one of Marguerite Argeneau`s younger vampire sons. Bastien and Lucern are physical twins--their cerebral interests are quite different. We met Lissianna and Gregory in A Quick Bite (Argeneau Vampires, 1); they get married in this story. Lucian Argeneau is their uncle and the head of the clan. He's also a world-class jerk.
Pudge, a.k.a., Norman Renberger, has some issues with reality and fantasy.
Sylvia is Rachel's best friend. We get to hear about Sylvia's wet dreams quite a bit...she's gonna be so jealous when she hears about Rachel's "wet dreams"...
Lissiana's bridal shower is a lovely opportunity for Rachel to meet other vamps: Jeanne Louise and Mirabeau. Then there's Jeanne Louise's cheeky brother Thomas.
The Cover
The cover has a metallic sheen to it with a red border across the top with the author's name. The bottom four-fifths of the cover is of Etienne embracing Rachel from behind, nibbling on her neck while displaying her gleaming cleavage rising up from a black corset, a tasteful bat tattooed on her right breast.
The title could go one of two ways. Etienne and Rachel do get pretty physical teeth-wise with all their Love Bites. Then again, Etienne gets into all sorts of trouble as he attempts to woo Rachel and avoids mentioning certain urgent actions on her.

I really am enjoying this series. Not only does it have a good plot to each story but there are also quite a few VERY funny moments.
Rachel is a night shift coroner in Toronto. Etienne is a vampire who has been shot by a "sick minded" person and is assumed dead. He is brought into the morgue where Rachel is suffering the flu. She proceeds to begin preparations for the body and removes the bullet from his heart. Etienne begins to heal. Because she is feverish he gets Rachel to believe that she is hallucinating and then she passes out.
A week later, Rachel is back to work having recovered from the flu when Etienne is once again brought into the morgue presumed dead from a car explosion also caused by the mental guy. Etienne begins to heal and Rachel notices that he may have a heartbeat. When she listens for it Pudge (mental dude) comes into the morgue screaming for her to move that Etienne is a vampire. He brings up an axe to chop off Etienne's head and Rachel steps into his path taking the mortal blow. Pudge apologizes and runs away.
Etienne's family shows up because they were headed there to save him from the car explosion. They figure there is no saving Rachel. Etienne can't let that happen since she has now saved his life twice. Even though he is only permitted to change one person and that should be his life mate, he changes Rachel.
What follows is a humorous and action packed story. Well worth the read.

I really liked it and enjoyed it as a fun romp. Yes, there is several scenes of sex in it but there was also humor too. In at least a couple places I did laugh out loud. And the Argeneau family were a tight knit family with plenty of variety in looks and personalities. Just like a regular human family. It was also fun to see what people thought was a natural deterrant to vampires were a myth. Like garlic keeping them away for one thing. The villian was one wack a doodle who managed to cause a lot of damage. But he also accidentally helped put the two MC's together. Without him they might never have "really" met.

Love Bites is the second in the series by Lynsay Sands following the Argeneau family of vampires. Etienne is a writer of computer games who lives alone and hasn't had a relationship for three decades. However his life isn't all dull - Pudge, a fellow writer of computer games, has found out that Etienne is a vampire and is trying to kill him. Etienne takes this in a spirit of amusement as Pudge doesn't really know what he's doing - Etienne's family think Pudge should be killed but Etienne has some sympathy for him.
Rachel Garrett works in the morgue at a hospital and has no social life at all - the night shift for three years has seen to that. She realises that her life is getting pretty bad when she finds the corpse of a handsome young man rather attractive - although is he actually dead? And did she dream him anyway? Then a severely burned corpse is delivered to the morgue a couple of weeks later and Rachel finds there is a heartbeat; she's about to call for help when a man comes in and tries to kill the burned almost-corpse. Rachel tries to save her patient and ends up receiving a mortal wound. At which point the burned corpse gets up and saves her life by turning her into a vampire. Now Rachel has to learn to live as a vampire and to live with the knowledge that Etienne has used his one chance to turn a life partner on her - saving her life as she saved his. With the help of his family she tries to make her way in this new world, knowing that Pudge is out there as a threat and feeling guilt that Etienne had to turn her.
This book is a fun and lighthearted read, despite the occasionally serious subject. There are lots of references to characters that are in the first book and the end of the book sets up for another. There wasn't a great deal of action in this book and the personalities weren't particularly in depth - I suppose if you liked Kerrelyn Sparks' "How to marry a millionaire vampire" you'd enjoy this book as it was very similar. It's good to read but nothing special and doesn't add anything new to the genre.

This is the second in Lynsay Sands' vampire series, which began with Single White Vampire. However, it's actually set *before* SWV, so could be read before it. The reviewer below is incorrect, actually: in SWV, Etienne was engaged to Rachel; in fact, Lucerne and Kate attend Etienne and Rachel's wedding.
Etienne is 300 years old, born a vampire into a family of vampires. He's not too worried about being single, since he's sure that he'll find his one true love some day. But suddenly he has to make a choice. He's only allowed to `transform' one human in his lifetime, and most vampires use that one transformation for the woman - or man - who will be their soul-mate. But his life has just been saved by Rachel Garrett, a mortician, who jumped in front of him when a madman was about to try to bleed him to death. Unfortunately, Rachel is the one who's got hurt, and she's dying. So what does he do? Let her die - or `waste' his one opportunity, transform her, and risk remaining single and alone for eternity?
So he transforms her, and he and his family smuggle her back to his house. And, when she wakes up, he knows he will have to deal with her reaction to having been turned into a vampire without so much as a by-your-leave. And that's probably going to be the least of his worries, he thinks - apart from anything else, regardless of how many times he begs them, his family will probably ignore his wishes and tell her just how much of a sacrifice he's made for her. And that, he knows, is the last thing Rachel will want to hear. Coming to terms with being a vampire is one thing; discovering that the man in whose house she is staying has given up his chance of a lifetime's happiness is another. And the last thing Etienne wants is for Rachel to feel guilty.
But guilt is the last thing on Rachel's mind when she wakes up. She is a vampire?! And she has to learn to drink blood? YUCK!! Okay, so she doesn't have to suck the necks of strangers, but even the bags Etienne keeps in his fridge taste disgusting. How on earth is she ever going to survive? Not to mention the fact that these new people in her life are just plain scary - Etienne actually sleeps in a coffin! And his cousin delights in serving up doctored drinks designed to make her behave completely out of character. And, as if all that's not bad enough, the man who tried to kill Etienne and almost killed her is still on their tail. This vampire life isn't looking like a lot of fun so far... But then, sex is pretty terrific, so maybe it has its compensations?
Another highly amusing vampire story from Ms Sands - I'm already looking forward to book 3, Tall, Dark and Hungry.

If you're looking for a Para-romance/comedy with a great family then you'll enjoy this series: ("A Quick Bite" (read them in this order), "Love Bites", "Single White Vampire", & "Tall, Dark and Hungry"). I did have to remind myself to stop comparing these stories to the more maudlin Vamp books by authors like Christine Feehan or Sherrilyn Kenyon whom have both created such awesome worlds, and whose books are full of action and suspense. When I read a "Vampire" book I'm used to expecting magic and suspense, shape shifting, "Evil" bad guys, etc. But while these stories are just about relationship development, it's a refreshing change. I just love this family! Yes, there was a comical vampire hunter in Love Bites but as far as vampirism; she takes a more comical route, which is fun and different. They preferred bagged blood as opposed to biting (which they considered "out of fashion" unless it was an emergency), which for me did seem to take a bit of the intimacy out of it. But it works, because there's just enough "nibbling" between just the right people. These heroes's were also not very "Alpha" men, as some would expect from this type of book. Greg was a psychologist, Etienne was a video game inventor, Lucern was an author, and Bastien was a businessman. There were only three instances where Greg, Etienne and then Lucern were put in "dangerous" positions where they encountered a vampire hunter (which was more comical than anything else). In "Tall, Dark and Hungry" there was absolutely nothing. But, like I said, these stories are not to be missed, all of the characters were great, and I'm really looking forward to the upcoming secondary characters stories, hopefully Thomas will be next, he's such a "Charmer!"

Okay can you say cute story. Rachel Garett works the night shift at the morgue and one evening a dead man is brought in, or is he dead? She can't seem to remember. Etienne Argeneau is a 300 year old vampire, and he has one little problem, someone keeps trying to kill him. With every attempt he ends up at the morgue and he keeps meeting this beautiful redhead. Unfortunately, he has to erase her memory of him being there. Then one time too many he is brought to the morgue and while he is waking up, and yet again seeing Rachel, there is another attempt on his life, and Rachel is caught in the middle. Now Etienne has a choice. Only once in his life does he get to bring a human over, and that human usually is a life mate. If he brings over the wrong person, he could spend the rest of eternity alone. Should he bring over Rachel? She's cute and just saved his life but he will be alone for eternity if she doesn't agree to be his lifemate. This is a very lighthearted story. It's cute. Etienne the vampire is not dark and depressing. He has a mom who is just like anyone else's mom except she's going to live forever. This is a very cute story and I would highly recommend.

First of all, the cartoon cover of this book sets the scene: no depth here. So anyone who goes in expecting much in the way of plot or character development will be disappointed.
Sands has an entire series set around the Argeneau family following the romance cliché with each member of the family getting their own book, in which the hero or heroine meets their lifemate. The vampire mythos is that all the vampires are actually descendents of Atlantis who developed nanotechnology. Nanos live it their blood and keep them in perfect health. Each vampire is destined to have a lifemate, i.e. a soulmate.
I won't bother hashing out plot problems as the focus of the story itself is not on plot, but on furthering the supposed sexual attraction between Etienne and his lifemate Rachael. Etienne turns Rachael into a vampire to save her life after she is axed in the chest by a totally ridiculous villain named Pudge--yes, Pudge--who has discovered Etienne is a vamp and wants to kill him.
Although I didn't hate it, my main issue with this book is with the scene in which Rachael awakens from being turned into a vamp thinks she is having a wet dream while Etienne tries to convince her she's awake, and he's a vamp. She is upset by him putting off her sexual advances and whines with disappointment that it must be because he is not well-endowed. Etienne responds with "all the men in my family are well-endowed." This line was so absolutely ridiculous and unbelievable that I laughed out loud. Rachael then responds with "Oh goodie!" I cannot believe the author, much less an agent or editor, did not suggest a revision to this absurd dialogue. What man would ever say this?! Worse still--how would he even know this information about the other men in his family?!!
Another amusing scene occurred when Rachael and Etienne are slightly intoxicated by the ecstasy-blood drinks they are slipped at a vamp club by Etienne's cousin. Rachael ends up on her knees, but Etienne gets a nice surprise when her blood lust overcomes plain old lust.
All in all, it's not the worst book out there, but many of the scenes trying to build tension between Etienne and Rachael were boring. Rachael whines a lot about the same old gripes--specifically about his turning her into a vamp, when she ought to be thanking him since she can't stop pissing and moaning about how BORING her life is. I mean, according to her, she was basically a hermit with a night-job of dealing with corpses in the morgue--why would she want to go back to that? Meanwhile, Etienne comes off as a geeky adolescent, despite the fact that he is supposed to be 300 years old.
In conclusion: this book has silly, absurd dialogue, no plot, and no heat between the main characters.

Love Bites by Lynsay Sands is another funny sexy book in the Argeneau vampire series.
Love Bites takes us back to prior to Single White Vampire, Kate and Lucern story to tell of the meeting of Etienne and Rachel.
Etienne is the youngest son in the Argeneau clan. He has a stalker that is making his life hell. This stalker "kills" Etienne with a bullet to the heart that lands him on the table of lovely coroner Rachel Garrett. Their first meeting is so hysterical, Rachel is sick with the flu and convinces herself that what she is seeing isn't real. At their second meeting Rachel has a vague memory of this handsome man who is now laying with deathly burns on her metal slab. When the stalker attacks Etienne at the morgue, Rachel gets in the way and it hurt by mistake. Etienne is compelled to safe her from death and makes her immortal. He also brings her to his home to help her adjust to the change.
Rachel reactions to her new way of life are priceless. She is equally confused by her attraction to Etienne. Etienne mind is racing to delay her leaving his home. He never needed a life partner in all his 300 years but he realizes Rachel is everything he wants for all eternity.
Love Bites is wildly amusing and steamy. Rachel and Etienne are a pair that will keep you laughing and will tantalize you with their passion. Lynsay Sands Vampires are on my auto-buy list.

If you need a good, light, funny read this series is definitely a go to!
Once I started this book I couldn't put it down until I was finished with the whole thing!
Rachel and Etienne are so funny as a couple.
Pudge is hilarious! I think I laughed so hard at the end when he has his cape and pretends to be a vampire.
Trust me, when you start this series you won't want to stop!

It seems that I am always starting a series out of sequence! Oh well no worries here - I looooved it just the same!! I just wanted to bare my neck and join the family!!
LOVE BITES is the second book in the Argeneau series. It revolves around a family that are direct descendants from the lost civilization of Atalntis and due to an experiment gone bad, only a few of the descendants have survived and have become immortals - but to the world we know them as "vampires". A close and guarded clan, they protect themselves closely and try to engage in activities that will prevent them from exposure and discovery to the human race.
This particular story revolves around Etienne and Rachel. Etienne is the youngest son of Marguerite Argeneau - a super cool mom who is able to read the thoughts of all other immortals and humans alike, is about 700 years old and looks like she is 30! Etienne has adapted to modern life after living for 300 years and has become a computer geek, who has developed a very popular video game called Blood Lust. One of his ex co-workers, Pudge has discovered that he is a "vampire" and is out to exterminate Etienne.
Rachel works at the city morgue. The body of a very good looking man is brought in and she can't help but feel sorry for his death. What a waste of such a gorgeous male specimen! After she extracts the bullet from his heart, Etienne starts coming back to life. Recovering and about to leave the morgue, Etienne erases all traces of his encounter from Rachel's memory. A week later, Etienne's car is blown up by Pudge and he is again brought into the morgue.
Great! Another crispy critter! Rachel is stunned to realize that this crispy critter's skin is falling off and new skin developing underneath! Impossible! Does she detect a heart beat?? Pudge rushes into the morgue at that moment with the intent of chopping off Etienne's head. As he swings his axe, Rachel moves to protect Etienne's body -and in doing so she is almost cleaved in two. As Pudfge rushes out of the morgue, Marguerite and Bastian, one of Etienne's brothers rush in to help. Etienne realizes that Rachel has now saved his life twice and cannot allow her to die! So he turns her into an immortal and brings her to his home to care for her as she undergoes the "change".
I love Lynsay Sands historicals. Her novels have the right mount of humor, passion and tenderness. In the Argueneau clan, she has created a magical series. With the perfect mix of laugh out loud situations, easy going banter and steamy love scenes - these series have become a winner! In the same vein as Kathy Love's Young Brother Vampire series - (which by the way I HIGHLY recommend as Kathy Love's writing style is very similar to Lynsay Sands), I am looking forward in exploring all upcoming novels and reading about the sexy Argueneau clan. LOVE BITES was awesome and am now in the middle of Julian and Leigh"s story BITE ME IF YOU CAN- just as good if not better!

Morgue Dr. Rachel Garrett is coming down with the flu when the corpse of Etienne Argeneau is brought in for her to examine. The big man was shot, but soon gets up as bullets cannot kill a vampire. Rachel assumes that her fever is making her delirious.
A few days later, Etienne returns dead again. This time when he recovers, his assailant is there too as he followed behind the transported "corpse" to the morgue. Etienne, who feels he owes Rachel, will do anything to keep her safe from the evil that has assaulted him. Besides which she has somehow gotten inside his blood. He wonders if he should convert her as his eternal mate even though he knows vampires have only one chance to get the transformation right However, before he can decide to end three centuries of bachelorhood, the vile foe takes the choice out of his hands as Rachel is under assault.
Vampire romance readers will love to tenderly bite the caring charming champion, who is simply a nice individual; Rachel is his delightful counterpart if she can "live" long enough to permanently take the role. The story line is entertaining on two levels. First there is the good vs. evil war between the hero and his vile obsessed foe (role reversal); and second is Etienne's dilemma of bringing her over or not. With this tale and SINGLE, WHITE VAMPIRE, Lynsay Sands has provided a unique vampiric family of nurturing considerate souls that readers will cherish.

In Love Bites we get to meet Etienne, Lissiana's older brother.
He's gorgeous but a bit of a reclusive nerd, working on his succesful vampire video game.
Etienne is bored with life after 300 years, even with women... he hasn't dated in 30 years. And then he meets Rachel... and instead of being able to do woo her the normal way by taking her out on a date he has to turn her in order to save her life and take her home so she can adjust to her new immortal life.
I just loved Etienne and Rachel!
I can't wait to read the next book and find out which member of the Argeneau family is going to find his/her lifemate.

While most vampires series wait until the end of the book for the vampire's love to get turn this one is just the opposite When night shift worker Rachel Garrett falls for a new arrival to the morgue that new arrival is attacked by a half out of his mind vampire hunter killing her. So they both thought until she wakes to find her life mate had already turned her into a vampire. Now she's moved in with her new love as she learns what life as a immortal is like. The Argeneau family wants to get rid of the hunter by blaming him on Rachel disappearance from work but she refuses to lie which leads to her become a actual target for the hunter that would make any reasonable person wish that she'd had taken the advice of experience in the first place.

Rachel thought she had just another "crispy critter corpse" on her exam table; she'd never been more wrong. Etienne Argeneau only appeared to be dead. Once the bullet was removed from his heart, Etienne was able to heal. So, his intrepid assassin had to try and kill him all over again, but this time, Rachel got in the way. After she'd saved him, Etienne couldn't just let Rachel die, so he did the only thing he could do, turned her into a vampire like himself and took her home to meet the family. Now, he just had to hope that the two of them would fall in love, otherwise, he'd just lost his only chance at a lifemate. Each vampire could only turn one other person during their life.
Rachel's journey to falling in love won't be easy. Etienne's family is rather unconventional, she's worried about her face turning bumpy, like Spike's, blood is not her favorite dish, and Pudge is still out there, looking for vampires to kill. However, when she looks at Etienne, all that other stuff is just stuff.
***** Like Single White Vampire, Love Bites is an intelligent, witty barrel of laughs. Admittedly, Pudge is more irratating than evil, but that is no drawback. Marguerite, the matriarch of the clan has promised to find her other children lifemates, and this reviewer looks forward to her fulfilling the promise. *****

The cover is what initially attracted me to this book (along with the title). It's romantic fun between a vampire and a mortal ... and a psycho named Pudge! I couldn't put the book down and eagerly anticipated the next page and chapter. Reminds me slightly of the Twilight Series as it's more about romance than erotica. I was unaware of it being the second book in a series but I didn't need to read the first one to know what was going on in the second. I will, however, go back and read the first one...just in case I missed something. Highly recommended and can't wait to read the rest of the series.

So the plot's a little predictable. That's not why you read romance in the first place, is it? It's the romp on the way through that draws you in! That being said, I can write this without any guilt. I personally prefer comedy to drama anyday, and Sands' delivers this quite well. While the editorial posted by the store scoffs at one vampire's surfer/hip lingo, I personally found it quite funny. Maybe it's because I grew up with 90210 and Saved by the Bell, but I love valley lingo because of its absurdity. Vampires who wallow in their own damnation are no fun at all. And that's what this novel is: FUN. Don't expect anything that will knock you to the floor laughing (Single White Vampire is better for that), but this is a cute bit of fluff that's great for rainy day reading.

The stories in this series are terribly complex. Which may be why I can't give more than a 3 star review. I liked Rachel and Etienne, the writing was good... I just wasn't as hung up on this as I usually am.

I'm writing the reviews backward - I already read more than half of the books that are out in the Argeneau family, an am on the 13th now. So, if you just starting - grab it, because you'll find reading her stories as an enjoyable ride - light, funny, well written, with good story-line, hot scenes - all you want in a good romance. Enjoy!

Like "Bite me if You Can," "Love Bites" was the same story, different people, except Etienne had more Kindness for the person who he transformed, wherein Lucian did not. So far, the books that I have read of Sands' do not fit in with the category of Vampire Romance, except for Single White Vampire, but more of Vampire transition, if there was such a category. Once again, one of the Argeneau vamps turns someone and then has to deal with the transformation. Except for Single White Vampire, which was cute, Sand's books can merely fit into the "Fiction" category but hardly romance. Love Bites is not "a keeper" and will give it to the library. It was boring and easy to put down to go and clean house! If I had not ordered "A Bite to Remember" and "Vampires are Forever" I would not have even considered buying any more of her books, as money is hard to come by these days. But, since I did, now I am stuck with them and will read. Who knows....I might be surprised! There is always hope.

Ms. Sands is a staple in our paranormal romance book swap at work-we all love her and have devoured her Argeneau Vampire series hungrily-this one ended up ranking a bit lower on our chart then the others in the series have cause it was a little hard to connect with the 2 main characters and sometimes they felt 2 diminsional but its still a good read-Ms. Sands never disappoints me. some of our group have commented that Ms. Sands is a bit predictable and her reads are no-brainers but we that hasn't stopped the love we have for her-our group has been converted to devout fans of hers and I highly recommend this book as well as the entire series-good, quick, easy reading that makes you laugh-read it and I dare you not to at least like it a little bit-LOL

Looking forward to working through the series in the next few weeks! Thank you, lynsay sands.

Rachael works at the morgue on the night shift. She sleeps through the day, albeit she loves the sunlight. She sometimes uses this as an excuse for her lack of a social life - being asleep during the day and at work all night.
Rachael is overcome with the flu, when she encounters what she assumed a corpse with a bullet wound straight to the heart. Instead, her body is really Etienne, a 6'4" blonde vampire, whose body is in stasis because of the heart wound delivered to him by his (rather dorky) villain, Pudge.
Technical Note: Sands' vampires are really ancient humans but with nano's (nanomachines) in their bloodstream. (She calls them "benign parasites," although, technically, this seems more mutualism than parasitism.) These nano's feed off blood to regenerate wounds, etc. Heart wounds can be fatal if a bullet is lodged in there for a while, as that would prevent the nano's from doing their job. No curse, eternal damnation, or any of that dark stuff involved.
Rachael does her job removing the bullet for forensics, whilst recording her progress (Scully-like from X-Files). Etienne's body is allowed to heal, and he escapes. Nothing happens for a while -- well, the vampires celebrate a birthday by going to the movies and Etienne's car gets blown up as he walks towards it; as a result, his body becomes utterly charred - and he's back to the morgue as a "crispy critter."
Rachael, whose memory has been altered by Etienne's last appearance, has been having dreams about Etienne. She encounters him in his blackened charred form. Definitely dead for sure, right? Instead, however, bits of Etienne's char flakes off and skin has regenerated beneath. Etienne's assassin, the villain of the story, Pudge comes and attempts to behead him, resorting to this since his first kill attempt (bullet through heart) failed. Instead, he accidentally slices through Rachael.
In the intermittent confusion, Pudge escapes and Rachael is "turned" into a vampire by Etienne, who feels responsible for her death wound. Later, we will find out that Etienne also liked her from the very beginning. A vampire can only "turn" one lifemate because of population limiting reasons. (Incidentally, only one baby is allowed per 100 years.)
More technical details: much of the blood in the transfusion comes from IV's hooked to bags of blood. Sands' vampires have fangs which "jump out" at the sight of blood. Apparently, these fangs work with straws, quite fortunate, for the vampires who don't like the taste of blood.
When Rachael is conscious again after her transformation, she goes through pages and pages and PAGES of denial. (Pain to read through since her excuses were a bit off-beat.) A good fifth of the book is spent on denial and disbelief of vampires.
Despite thinking Etienne is some crazed cult maniac, she finds him to possess sex-appeal. They share dreams that are almost steamy, but not quite sexy. (Unfortunately, the same description goes for Sands' other explicit scenes.) After a while, Rachael accepts her new existence as a vampire. She is determined to continue her life as is despite her change in mortality.
Etienne, however, wishes to keep her in his home as long as possible. He makes her drink bad blood to deliberately sicken her, so that she would be dependent on him for food. (A wee bit childish. We're talking an approx. 300 year old vampire trying to "trick" his lovemate, here...) On the other hand, "the Argeneau family," requires that Rachael be convinced to lie about Pudge kidnapping her in order to solve the problem of the assassin. Etienne postpones telling her this, and eventually, this leads to Rachael's distrust.
Apparently, Etienne is a solo game-programmer (which is rather unrealistic, nowadays). He created "Blood Lust," which just happens to be Rachael's favorite video game. This, along with other reasons, builds up Rachael's "liking" of Etienne. But, sad to say, there isn't really much love in this book, despite the title. There is, however, a whole lot of what seems like light infatuation and sex that's significant enough only for brief casual flings.
In Love Bites, Sands' romance abilities are really non-existent. There's a beach scene and underwater sex scene, but it's described bereft of the "umph" - for the lack of a better phrase - that a scene as emotional as that deserves. Although not as perverse as Bangs (Night Bites) to have shallow characters just lust after each other, yet act and think like children, Sands' characters tend to, also, think in crude ways.
I had to force myself to read through the bulk of the novel, telling myself that the sooner I'm done with this, the sooner I can focus fully on the next (and hopefully less horrid) book. Rachael's reasoning for a few chapters near the last part of the book deprecated to that of a 8 year old -- in language, as well as logic! I understand that writers have deadlines to meet, but having to distort what is supposed to be a college/med-school-educated character instead of a bit of revision just further destroys Rachael's character.
My rating for this book is primarily set by the lack of passionate-love-romance in the book. However, there are a few random perks that had me smiling.
The drinks offered by the Night Club were interesting, and if they were complemented with a bit more love in the resultant sex scenes, that might be worth an extra star. The vampire wedding was one of the better-written scenes, but the concept of such really detracts from the idea of a proper vampire... I guess the last bit would be my own personal requirement that vampires act a certain way -- I mean, the "creatures" in this book might as well be called nano-droids, rather than vampires.
The penis biting was a bit amusing, and perhaps one of the sexier, but still not really sexy scenes, as both characters end up sickened by the clash of nano's. Etienne's family discovering this first-hand, as they deliver the blood, is also worth a smile.
Note: Apparently, vampires cannot bite each other - as that would lead to a profusion of nano's in the biter's and ingestor's bloodstream. Nano's consume blood and if there are too many of them the vampire, who does not have enough blood to feed them, is weakened.
As for naming: a vampire named Lucern -- Lucerne? as in Safeway Select? Etienne already sounded too feminine to be a macho vamp name.
Anyway, if you're up for the steamy, brooding, intelligent/wise, *dark*, vampire of passion, love, and eternal nights - you won't find Him here; if you're not up for a light read with pathetic vampires, then skip this, rather than be wrongfully disappointed. (...)

Fast and in some places exciting story. Our Vampires are a little too human (ie eating food) but the story rocks along to its conclusion. I was annnoyed that this was one of a set but that is just me. The Author has thought this book through and it flows wonderfully. The males are not too chest thumpingly ALPHA and the women are not too simpering. 9/10

Vampire sex comedy featuring erotically romantic romps. Original take on the origin of the vampire species, with nice family closeness among the vampire clan. This is the beginning of a long, well-loved paranormal series featuring the fangtastic Argeneau clan. Lynsay Sands writes with a welcome humorous bite!

I have become a serious fan of Lindsay Sands. This series, the Argeneau Vampires, gave me a new type of vampire to read about. The books are funny and sweet and for me a great fast read. I recommend taking the series with you on vacation. I read very fast and an afternoon spent reading Love Bites is just plain fun and very relaxing!

This book did have a very interesting premise, but it could have been written in a whole much better direction than just to have the two main characters repeatedly having sex throughout most of the book. I did like the fact that 'respectable' vampires drink from bags of donated blood instead of attack people on the street (could have made a good subplot dealing with the blood bags); and the straws getting stuck on the woman's fangs so that she didnt have to taste the blood was kind of inventive too (but then she could have moved on with her life and tried to eke out what she could of the life she had before becoming a vampire). Too bad the blood issues were the only interesting things in the book.

I picked up this book at a friends house while I was staying with her and sat down that night and started reading. It was great! A funny and very interesting book kept me involved most of the night till I finished. Went out the next day and bought the next one in the series Single White Vampire.

I saw this book on the shelf at the drug store, and knew I would have a long wait at the Dr's. So I bought the book, knowing nothing about it or the author, and thinking that I would be disapointed and that it would turn in to a horror fest or be gloomy. Boy was I wrong. I devoured the book, laughing out loud in the waiting room! I was immediately hooked, and tracked down the first book Single White Vampire. That one too was fantastic, and I wait with great expections for the third, Tall Dark and Hungry. It is such a relief to find someone who has fun with the vampire idea and makes it sexy as hell. Thank you, Ms. Sands!

Bought it at a grocery store in South Dakota while on vacation for a quick summer read, should have left it there. So many cliches and bad romance lines and vocabulary that it was a waste of time. Nothing worth while, read anything Patti Briggs for a real storyline that doesn't make you feel dumber for having read it.

I really enjoyed the romance storyline of this book. I found it refreshing how the love between them unfolded. I know this book did not have a lot of action packed adventure but I found the love story was able to stand on its own.

I enjoyed this book more than her first novel "Single White Vampire". The cousin was too funny! I also liked that the family members seemed to be given more depth. The ending made me anticipate her next addition in this series.
The only gripe I have is that throughout this book, Lucern was portrayed as alone.....until the last few pages. Then Kate's name popped up. Otherwise, nothing was ever mentioned about both women attending the very same wedding. Odd.

I love Lynsay Sands! Her Argeneau series is fun and suspenseful. I love the humor. Also has some steamy love scenes. Of course I've only read the first four books but I'm looking forward to more of this series and other books from Lynsay Sands.

After reading twilight series i was looking for a new vampire love story and came across this one. got to say i love the first book a quick bite and finished it in 3 days, this book was no different before i knew it was the end of the book. the only problem about this book is it seem a bit rushed, i wish the author made the book longer to make sure the whole story was covered in a normal pace, everything happened too quickly. other than that this was a amazing book.

So I finished this book in about 6 hours. I couldn't put it down. I am so happy that there are so many books in this series. Granted, I am putting a lot of other important things aside while I read them but I just can't stop. They have just the right amount of romance and drama. I love these books :-)

This book is part of the Argeneau Vampire Series written by Lynsay Sands. I highly recommend this series to anyone who enjoys reading vampire stories that are varied but still maintain continuity between the books and the characters.
Please RateLove Bites (Argeneau Vampire)
But after reading about 4 of her books I realized that some of the other books have a much more "nail biting" plot.
