Lynsay Sands has written another "Good" Argeneau Vampire Novel.
I enjoyed the theme of Love that Conquers All. In today's time one needs to escape to a place of Timeless Love, Even If It Is a Vampire Love.

I was so disappointed mainly because I read this book already, it was a called A Quick Bite. If Lynsay wanted to revisit the carefree bumbling vampire mystery style that started it all I don't get why she did it for this book, it would have made more sense to do it for the 20th book. So much of this book was silly and made no sense starting with Jake's name. We were already introduced to this character as Stephano Notte in A Bite to Remember, so now having him go by Jake Colson made no sense. I get that he was upset about being turned, but since his family always knew where he was it kind of defeated the point. It almost seemed like Sands had written the outline for this book, and then decided she wanted to connect him to the Argeneau/Notte families but for some reason preferred the name Jake over Stephano, so she came up with this silly explanation. Also Jake is the worst bodyguard in the world, most of the confusion in this story should never have happened. Some minor investigative work and a few quick background checks should've been done. Jake hired a locksmith, a security company, and Dan as backup. But he never hired a tech guy or PI to do a few quick checks? I don't know if I will be continuing on with this series. I do want to read Justin Bricker's story but who knows when she'll get around to it, or if it will be any good.

Stephano Jacob Colson Notte, or Jake Colson as he now goes by, was horrified when he learned at 18 his stepfather, mother, and younger half-brother are blood sucking, mind controlling vampires (immortals). That turned to anger when he was changed after nearly dying 3 years ago. After he learned to care for himself, he walked away from his family to start a new life. This new life and career as a body guard has brought him to Nicole's doorstep. Nicole doesn't believe her string of unfortunate events is an attempt on her life but her family friend Marguerite (yep, she's matchmaking again!) does and secretly hires Jake to protect her by posing as a housekeeper/chef.

I thought Jake abandoning his family after they showed him nothing but love and patience was childish and uncalled for so my expectations weren't high for this book. Nicole's arrival changed that. Nicole married a smooth talker but once the honeymoon was over, he showed his real self and it wasn't pretty. With a gentle mental nudge from Marguerite, Nicole filed for divorce but the money grubbing husband wasn't happy. A couple of near misses later, Jake is at her house and protecting her from any more "accidents" until the divorce is final.

Nicole is sweet, has a surprising naughty side, and is Jake's lifemate so he must reveal the immortal world to her and explain what he is. Coupled with Nicole's understanding and acceptance, it finally clicks in his head that immortals aren't monsters and it's not a curse to be one. Finally! Jake's a good guy that needs a great woman to show him the error of his ways and Nicole needs a man that will cherish not use her and that's exactly what both get. My problem with the last few books in this series is that the couples didn't have the same spark and impact as the ones in the earlier books. Jake and Nicole definitely have that special chemistry that I've missed and I enjoyed every bit of it.

This series has been really uneven since the Rogue Hunter books came into play (around book 10). One Lucky Vampire is one of the high points and captures everything that drew me to the series to begin with. The story is kept light and amusing with intrusive family members that have their hearts in the right place and meaningful romance that leads to hot sex that ends in the couple passing out from pleasure on the bathroom floor...or at the kitchen table. Longtime fans will welcome this latest installment and I believe there's enough recap to bring newcomers up to speed so they too can enjoy it.

Overall Rating: 3/5 Stars

It's been a good minute since I read a book by Lynsay Sands. I can honestly say that I don't love them as much as I used to. It's kind of disappointing because I still have a lot of book from this series that I need to read. I will still read them though, because even though I didn't love it as much as I did, I still enjoyed myself.

I still love the scientific parts of this series. I love the nanos and I love that they originated from Atlantis. I think that is so creative. I love how there's an explanation for everything. The fangs, the eyesight, the hearing, etc. It's not very often I've come across a vampire book that was scientifically explained.

I enjoyed the book. All the way until the ending. I was not a fan whatsoever with how it ended. How is the bad guy going to be someone that nobody even cares about? That's some kind of BS.

So, I really loved Jake. I loved that he his undercover as a cook/housekeeper to keep Nicole safe. I really liked that he didn't intentionally go there but on a favor for the amazing Marguerite, the matchmaker. I really had fun with seeing their relationship grow. I just didn't see how Nicole was okay with the immortals as fast as she was. I feel like she should have put up some resistance for that knowledge.

All in all, I think it was really enjoyable. I just hated the ending and hated Nicole's reasoning for the immortals and being instantly okay with them. If those were different, I would have given the book at least a 4.5.

I have a vague recollection of Jake from previous books, but this almost read as a complete standalone (you know, if not for the matchmaker herself showing up in the first few chapters and then coming to the rescue). Honestly, I think you can probably pick up just about any of the books in this series and not have a problem catching up. Sure, the couples are familiar, but at this point there are so many of them I’m having trouble keeping them straight. The switching narrators (I’m doing the audiobooks) also makes it more difficult to keep them all straight (sometimes they have an accent, sometimes not, etc.).

So, this story is about Jake. He’s essentially exiled himself from the meddlesome Argeneaus after they forced him into vampire-dom while he lay dying. Ungrateful? Yup. He is definitely sulking, which for a vampire can take quite some time. Under his new name, he has become a bodyguard, and he’s pretty sure he’s avoided all family entanglements until Marguerite shows up. Marguerite’s housekeeper’s relative is in desperate need of a bodyguard, but one that can pretend to be a housekeeper/cook so that it doesn’t raise his client’s suspicions. Nicole (said client) is dead set against hiring someone to protect her, no matter how many attempts on her life. By selling her on the idea of a housekeeper, Marguerite manages to sneak Jake into her life without raising any alarms. The attempts, however, just keep coming.

Through the combination of life threatening situations, live mate attraction, and just the fact that these two are perfect for one another, they begin to quickly fall in love (and in bed). While there are almost constant houseguests, these two manage to work on their relationship and get into even more life threatening situations. While other books seemed to focus on the romance, this one was definitely more of a murder/mystery, with twists and turns to have me guessing until the end. There are so many members of this family (and extended family) that I don’t think this series will ever dry up. As little yummy distractions, they are the perfect audiobook series for me!

This book is one of a series, but I didn't find great gaps in my knowledge: Lynsay Sands managed to fill in the blanks neatly and provided just the right amount of information, not overwhelming a new reader to the series, nor boring one familiar with the Argenau series.

This story focuses on Jake and his withdrawl from the `family business' because of his great distaste for other vampires. Still bitter after his change, he has worked hard to find a line of work that both suits his nighttime hours and allows him a measure of remove from the others.

When his "aunt" Marguerite approaches him to protect the daughter of a trusted employee, Jake is understandably frustrated and upset that again, the "family' has intruded in his life. Although, coming from a family where immortals are the norm, and working for the same vamp that turned him to save his life does give him a unique insight into the behavior, expectations and even frailties of his kind.

Nicole left home when she married the man who turned out to be a vengeful, lazy and controlling beast. A talented artist, she was pushed beyond sense and her physical limits, and the soon to be finalized divorce has been an ugly process.

When the two meet, there is an attraction: even as Jake is posing as a housekeeper / cook. Kicked bur refusing to stay down, Nicole was determined and strong: shell shocked from her divorce, there is just something so right about Jake. Jake, for his part, was still reeling from the mind control and other deceits he believed his family practiced with malice: trust never came easy for him, and a relationship is the last thing he needs or wants.

Beautifully written with characters that are easy to get to know, yet still hold some surprises. Their interactions felt real and their hesitancy was understandable. What was even more perfect was Marguerite's knowing the match was a real one and they are made for one another. My first introduction to this author, and I will certainly be adding more of her titles to my list. Sure to please fans of the series, there was clever action, a few twists, some danger and some very sensual to steamy scenes.

I received an eBook from the publisher for purpose of honest review for the Jeep Diva. I was not compensated for this review: all conclusions are my own responsibility.

A Good story, with surprises and twists and turns. It was a really different storyline in several ways, which I liked. Both MC's were honest good people who were easy to like. Nicole was a good hearted, talented woman who had been used time and again by men who should have been trustworthy because they loved her (?). The struggle that Jake was still going through because of his change to vampire and his estrangement from his family was a nice angle. He separated himself from them years ago and they allowed it but stayed in the background keeping an eye out for him. It was great to see family members begin to come out of the background and help him as things begin to hit the fan. The person who was trying to committ the murder, was quite a surprise as was the motive behind it. Never saw that one coming.

Another great Argeneau Vampire story by Lynsay Sands.

Stephano Notte was turned into a vampire 7 years ago to save his life. He ran away and changed his name to Jake Colson. When he turned 18 he found out his whole family were vampires and they were willing to turn him. He grew up on horror films where vamps were always bad so he felt betrayed and alone and never wanted to turn. Once he was he couldn't deal with it and ran. Now a family member finds him and asks for his help. He has been a bodyguard since he left.

Nicole Phillips has had several accidents that suggest her soon to be ex might be trying to kill her for her money. Family friend suggests she hire a cook/housekeeper to free up her time so she can finish her work. She agrees.

Little to either of them know Marguerite is playing matchmaker again. Jake takes the job and pretends to be a cook/housekeeper until things start to go bad and the attempts to kill Nicole become more serious. Jake takes the brunt of the attacks and manages to live through what would have killed her. His cousins come to help and then the rest of the family comes after the second attempt. Jake has also discovered that Nicole is his life mate. Now he just needs to figure out how to stop a killer so he can ask her to join him for eternity.

I always enjoy the Argeneau vampire books. The only thing that disappointed me was the ending. It was a little short and just ends with Nicole agreeing to the change. I would of like a little more of what happened after the change with the two of them and Jake's family. I gave it 4 stars for that reason.

I have a bit of a love/hate relationship with this series. Love because I really enjoy some of the light humor that this series usually offers. Hate because now that we are at book 19, sometimes I feel like I've read that before.

I had high hopes for ONE LUCKY VAMPIRE, mainly because I have enjoyed the past few books in this series. But while reading this I couldn't help but feel that although it's a completely different couple, with their own issues and set of problems and chemistry... I just felt that it was all cut from the same cloth. I really hate when I feel like a series is repetitive and I really want something to shake things up a bit in this world. Maybe Marguerite shouldn't be the matchmaker in every book. Maybe the whole mate and nanos thing needs a fresh spin on how it's told. I don't know what I'm looking for really, just something other than "Margarite knows these two people are mates and she sets things up so they are in close proximity and they are bound to fall for their mate chemistry".

This is a sweet read and the hero is verra sexy, so after I put my own mental hang-ups aside of what I want, I thought it was enjoyable. Not as funny as some others in the series, but still a light read. In the end though, for me, it fell a bit flat. With so many ups and downs I've had with this series, I have to question myself whether I want to continue reading them.

Lynsay Sands has done it again! Even though “One Lucky Vampire” is the 19th book in her Argeneau Series, it has all new plot elements that make it stand apart from the other books. Nicole, the leading lady in this novel, could be me – she’s very realistically written and it was easy to imagine myself in her shoes. The characters are deep and have flaws and quirks, there are no perfect people (mortal or immortal) in Sands’ books! There are lots of details to the plot, as usual, and it turns out again that the couple have a lot in common that they don’t even know about. I love the Vampire mythology that is used in this series, especially the life mate bits. It makes it so sexy that they’re only for each other and the shared pleasure makes the sex scenes super erotic! I can never put her books down, and this one was no different – just had to keep reading and reading! I can’t wait for the next installment. I have already marked my calendar for February 18, 2014 when “Vampire Most Wanted” will be released.

Marguerite Argeneau is known in her family as the life mate match maker. And, she's up to it again. Jake Colson has been turned into an immortal and he wasn't too happy about it. He ran away from the rest of his immortal family and has been working as a body guard. But, when Marguerite calls and says he is needed to protect a very important mortal woman who's husband is trying to kill her before the divorce, he agrees to go undercover as a housekeeper/cook. Problem is, he knows nothing about cooking. Nicole Phillips is more then happy to have help in her house so she can commit her time to her paintings, but has no idea he would be such an attractive man. Things heat up pretty quick (and I'm not talking just in the kitchen) and it brings Nicole and Jake closer together. But, can Jake accept that Nicole is his life mate? He has only been immortal for 7 years and still not happy about the change. Most Immortals wait centuries before they meet a life mate. Will Nicole's fears get in her way of love again? Can she accept Jake for what he is? As with any of the Argeneau stories by Lynsay Sands, I was thoroughly engrossed in the story and couldn't put the book down. I was anxious to find out what happened next.

Very impressed! This was a "New to me Author" and I love her writing style! The story flowed so nicely and not choppy in any way!The love for the characters are spot on and so was the page flipping! This is an author who knows how to hold her readers!

I loved this story on vampire who didn't want to be turned and was angry at his family for all of the lies told to him and mind control they performed on him as a child.Leaving home angry at them for being monsters and then to be turned by a so called boss who happened to save his life by turning him.Jake goes into hiding and becomes a bodyguard. With his Vamp talents he sees things before they actually happen.By reading others minds he can control them and their actions before things go bad.He is hired on as a bodyguard for Nicki, only she thinks he's just a cook/housekeeper.Nicki's exhusband appears to be trying to kill her off and Jake needs to protect her.Not going to spill any more..... Just read it! It's awesome!! Trust me,not the vampire read you expect.

One Lucky Vampire by Lynsay Sands is an Argeneau Novel series read. I admit that I totally love this series and have read every book in every series in order. I believe this is the first book by Sands that I would not recommend reading without reading previous books in this series first. Many characters from previous books popped in and out and even I felt a little confused at times. I think if I would not have had knowledge of these characters I would have been completely overwhelmed.

The mystery aspect in One Lucky Vampire is one I really enjoyed and it kept me on my toes, however the comedy fell a little flat. It is hard to admit this as most of the Argeneau books are completely hilarious and LOL funny. Some funny comments and situations certainly existed and maybe my standard for Sands is a little high because of previous books, but I expected more. The story was a sweet one, but not the best of this series.

I received this book from the publisher in exchange for an honest review. I received no compensation for this review.

The humor is missing! I used to love this series but have been disappointed in the last 4-5 books. The silly, fun, crazy situations that the characters used to get themselves into are not there anymore. There might be one or two funny things happen but not the wonderful mix of zaniness that the earlier books in the series gave us. Also, I have never seen so many accepting humans in my life. None of the non-vampire characters in the last few books seemed to be very shocked to discover they live with vampires around them. I find it hard to believe so many people would just accept discovering that the person they love has been living a secret life of vampirism. I probably won't be reading any more from this author unless she gets her joy for writing back.

Before my kindle I have huge book collection and most of the books are Lynsay Sands. But she is just doing this to death. Jack is practically getting his a@@ woop by a mortal from afar. The mortal is running outside the house cutting brake lines to their car a their super human ears hears nothing. The arthur is spending so much time humanizing them that she's forgotten their vamps. Jake only feeds twice in this whole book. Her vamps never gowls or get pissed. Nothing. Her series are basically becoming your run of the mill romance books. And I'm done buying them atleast until Bricker gets his own story I think he'll be the craziest one If Ms Sands write it well. Ps: If you start a vamp series make sure its some vamps in the books that act like vamps.

I am an EPIC Lynsay Sands fan, and I LOVE The Argeneau Series. But this one fell flat to the others. The rest were so much fun and had all the hijinks that brought the lifemates together, but this one was....meh.....It seemed that Nicole and Jake;s aka Stephano's story was rushed and you didn't really see much chemistry between them. Usually the sex scenes are usually hot and funny and Ms. Sands always gives us funny places where the lifetimes usually black out, but this one was so vanilla. Also not much Marguerite was involved. She is my favorite character and is the one that brings the funny to these books. All in all it was a great read needless to say and I'm still patiently waiting for Justin's stpry now for YEARS and can't wait for the twins. P.S The whodunit person in the end was dumb. How they dealt was it was even dumber. And from the beginning, didn't it ever occurred to Jake to just install security cameras?

I love this series! Lynsay Sands always delivers fun and sexy romance. Jake is a a reluctant vampire. He was turned to save his life, but never wanted to be a vampire. Nicole is in danger and matchmaking Marguerite decides to send Jake to secretly play bodyguard and protect Nicole. I really enjoyed Jake and Nicole’s story. Their chemistry heated up the pages. This series is on my must have list and I highly recommend it for paranormal romance lovers.

Pure unadulterated romance where one of the characters just happens to be a vampire.

It seems like it's becoming harder and harder to find PNR that revolves around the hero/heroine's relationship building and ultimate HEA rather than 'taking out a faction of evil'. One Lucky Vampire kept things clean and easy in the sense that the majority of the book is about Nicole and Jake and the crazy thing that is falling in love. Yes there is a foe, but it's used as a plot device to strengthen the h and H's relationship rather than dragging them into impossible situations with a lot of over the top drama.

Sometimes I want outrageous situations and sometimes I want sweet romance. This entry into the Argenau series definitely falls into the latter category. If you're looking for a sweet romance, with typically hot Lynsay Sands sex scenes then you're going to be happy with this one. I'm taking off one point solely because of the few ridiculous chapters when Jake/Stephano's HUGE family comes to help out with a situation. True to other Argeneau titles there were just too many family members barging into a situation where only one or two people would have been helpful. All those characters just seem to jumble the story.
Don't let that keep you away, though, it's still good fun ;)

I absolutely love the Argeneau and Motte families and all the rest of the wonderful immortals. I remember Jake from Vincent's story. Jake struggles so hard with being immortal and actually runs away from his family. Marguerite comes to him and asks for his help in protecting her housekeepers daughter whos ex husband is trying to kill her.

This is a classic Sands. I came to the series late (like just in the last year) and have only read a half a dozen books in the series. However, I have read a most of her historicals. The thing that I love about Sands stories is that while it at times deals with serious issues, there is still laughter, family togetherness, and the story moves quickly. I like Nicole and Jake and watching their romance develop. I liked seeing Jake try to figure out how to cook :)

Its a very light read. The story had promise but then got off subject. It switched to the characters personal relationship and took too long getting back to the story. The last part of the book then switched to an insane man which was not established & was casually mentioned who was the culprit. If this is an example of the authors writing style then I will not buy any more of her books. I prefer substance to a story.

To bad it didnt last longer, the ending went from the guy who was trying to kill Jake and Nikki to the end in like one chapter, wished it had a bit longer ending, but other then that it was a good story. Now Stephino I mean Jake has changed his mind about being something he hated being when his life was turned back in Vincent & Jackie's story seven years ago and now Jake has a whole new meaning of life with his life mate Nikki.

I like a cute fun light romance. I have enjoyed the Angeneau Series from the beginning. Some of the books are better then others, but the series has not brought anything new into the mix.
"One Lucky Vampire" was enjoyable. It was a sweet read and the hero is very sexy. Not as funny as some of the other books in the series.
In the end it was repetitive. Nothing new and exciting happens. The series feels to me at an end.

I enjoyed this book, and I have to say that I loved the fact that the heroine was totally into him at the start. You could see their attraction to each other and how they might fall in love, rather than have her denying it, or him denying it.

I liked the heroine a lot. She was artistic and kept odd hours. A girl after my own heart! Thanks for the read, Ms. Sands. I enjoyed it very much!

I love the Argeneau Vampire Series. These books are funny and steamy at the same time. Each new book in this series leaves me wanting more.

I have faithfully read each of the books in this series and loved them all, until this one. Love all the Argeneau's and would love to know how to get an Aunt Marguerite. However, this book was disappointing. Way too much detail and fluff. At some point in these series if the author is just phoning it in, they should bring it to an end. Sorry Lynsay, not your best work. Would I recommend the series to others, absolutely! This installment just missed it.

But who is trying to kill Nicole?

Nice to see the passion between Nicole and Jake.
Bit of strange how well she takes it that he is a vampire.
