This story of Lucians brother Armand, the father of Thomas, Nicholas who we have already read about was a far cry from the level of reading that we get in the other Argeneau Novels. It is very much predictable, slow, and no build up.
It is starts right to the point and leaves no suspense in the developing relationship, no chance to really fall in love with characters. I knew exactly who did "it" within the first quarter of the book. I love Lyndsay Sands and love this series so I will keep buying these books but really had a hard time with this one. It is my least favorite book in the whole series.
In summary Armand is suspected of killing his former wives and son Nicholas's life mate Annie (who read about in one of the first novels written) so Lucian dispatches Eshe and Bricker to solve the questions to the allegations and to find out if Nicholas really went rogue and killed...

Born to Bite by Lynsay Sands is the 13th book in her Vampire Argeneau Series. I cannot stop reading them. They're addictive...in this book, I got to meet another Argeneau male vampire. He is just as hot and sweet inside as the rest of his male relatives. His life mates and wives have been murdered. Too many women died in similar ways that the head of the Vampire council and brother to this sexy male vampire, is now being investigated as a possible suspect. The head council relative also sends one of his best enforcers to find out the truth. Only, it happens that the enforcer is a tough, independent, clever yet sexy as hell woman in leather pants. She is wild and tough but has a good heart. Both she and her suspect find out that they're life mates. That only complicates the investigation until both are almost burned to death in a shed. The killers are closer than any of them think...overall, I was intrigued and fell hard for these characters. It was funny and charming too.

I received this copy from the publisher. This is my voluntary review.

Legend has it that Armand Argeneau is a killer in the bedroom...But with all three of his late wives meeting unfortunate and untimely ends, is this sexy immortal a lover or a murderer? That's what Eshe d'Aureus intends to find out. As an enforcer, it's her job to bring rogue vampires to justice, even if the rogue in question makes her blood race red hot. Armand knew she was trouble the moment Eshe roared into town on her motorcycle, clad in tight black leather. She claims she's hiding from dangerous fiends, though he suspects something more. But after three wives who've all had trouble remaining, well, undead, Armand is reluctant to open his heart again. Then strange accidents start to happen, each deadlier than the last, and Armand realizes he may not have much time to prove he's a lover, not a slayer.

What a great set up for trouble. I love the fact that big bad Lucian can't read Armand. It also explains why HE can't get to the bottom of everything and just read him to get to the truth. That sure makes things even more interesting. Even though part of this story deals with Armand's son Nicholas and trying to save him from being executed, this book can still be read all on its own. It give enough information about Nicholas' troubles so even if you hadn't read his story, its easy to follow along. Eshe was a one of a kind woman and enforcer. I liked her style. Another plus for Eshe and Armand was that they didn't have to go through the "let me explain about immortals" speech. They both had found life mates before, so they knew what to expect. Eshe had her life mate for centuries but Armand was lucky if he was able to keep his wives for any amount of time. Even reading the Bio of the story, its easy to see that it wasn't just bad luck on his part.
I was so sure I knew what was going on, and who had done what. Then I found myself twisting and turning as story did the same. What a great way to keep my interest.

This book contains all the information that I wanted to know at the end of the previous book! If you’re angry about the lack of information, this is the book that gives it to you (thank goodness). Remember Armand, the possibly wife-killing vampire/father of the rogue who could possibly be executed? Well, this book is his story, and even comes with a love interest in the form of Eshe. The timeline for this book overlaps a bit with the ending of the previous, so while the new mates were locked in their cell, Lucian was busy setting up some detective work for Eshe.

Eshe is an enforcer who doesn’t take anyone’s crap. Her mate has long since been killed, so she is pretty much just left with her work and friends. Her latest assignment is to figure out who has been killing off Armand’s wives. Seems like something she could do as simple as reading Armand’s mind, but upon first meeting it appears that they are destined to be mates. Good news is that they can finally have companionship again, but the bad news is that now Eshe might be the killer’s latest target. Sure, I think we are supposed to doubt Armand, but it is pretty obvious that there is a bigger threat somewhere that is determined to make his life hell.

This book was filled with everything that I’ve come to love about the series: smutty goodness, a good mystery, lots of wonderful “check-ins” with the main characters of previous books, and a happily ever after (this time with no infuriating missing information). If you’ve read the other oodles of books in this series, this is another “good one” in that we get good chemistry and page turning story. Who doesn’t want to know who really killed all those women?

Born to Bite is part of the Argeneau vampire series, which I am admittedly addicted to. I love the premise of this whole series: immortals descended from ancient Atlanteans living among humans while trying to keep their existence a secret. Each book involves a member of the Argeneau clan finding his or her lifemate – their one perfect mate.

In this story, ancient Armand has shut himself away from the rest of the family, fearing for their protection. Those close to him – especially females – have a tendency to die thru freak fires and accidents (something which is very difficult considering how hard it is to kill immortals). Enter Eshe, a vampire council enforcer, dispatched to determine if Armand himself might be behind the suspicious deaths.

Armand is very sweet and gentle, a quiet sort, while Eshe is very colorful and likes to live life to the fullest. This is the 2nd time around for both of them. In addition to enjoying the benefits of being lifemates, they also work together to finally get answers and save Armand’s nephew in the process. They complement each other well, and we get to see some of the other enforcers from previous books have some pretty good roles in this one.

Continuing on with the investigation of Nicholas.
At the end of Nicholas' story we learned his first lifemate was on to something regarding the death of his father's 3 wives. Now we get to Armand the one constant and connection between the death of his wives.

Eshe is sent to Armand's ranch to discover if he is guilty of killing his past wives. But upon meeting Armand a wrench is thrown into Eshe's plans of getting in and getting out. He's her lifemate! And a possible murder suspect.

Armand has isolated himself after losing past wives. He's been suspicious since the last death and to ensure nobody else close to him comes to harm he has stopped contacting his family and gone so far as to give up his daughter to her aunt to raise. Now his son Nicholas' life relies on Armand and Eshe getting to the bottom of this mystery.

After reading Marguerite's book and learning how one vampire was able to hide away and fake his death for 20 years, I couldn't help but think maybe one of Armand's wives was able to do the same thing. Many other people have said they were able to figure out the mystery about the half way point of the book, but obviously they haven't read previous books to consider other options.

By God, I thought I had read everything this human could pen or key...I'm not sure....but, I somehow missed this book..my bad...
And as always I thought the characters were well-done and the men yummy...the adventure and the mystery, always a great read. I might add that if most of us could find someone that could grant us immortality and sex so good you'd pass out....yeah...thought so...so so...read the series...Every book gets better than the last.
I recommend!

I've enjoy Ms. Sands books in the past. This one just didn't hold my interest. I did go back and finish it, but it didn't get any better. The characters were uninteresting and I never felt one way or another for them. They didn't seem to have feelings for each other, so why should I?
The plot made me feel like I'd dropped into a story in progress and I was struggling to catch up. I never did.
Maybe if I started at the beginning of this series and read them in order, I'd feel differently. This one just didn't generate enough of my interest to bother going back to previous books.
I can't recommend this one, but Ms. Sands' The Hellion and the Highlander is a great one!

Armand Argeneau's self exile if disturbed when he is asked to hide Eshe d'Aureus from a rogue. Or at least that is what he's told. Eshe is really there to find out why all three of Armand's immortal wives died and to help clear Armand's son Nicholas of a murder that no one thinks he committed. Things take an unexpected turn when both Eshe and Armand realize they are each others life mates.

Armand is attracted to Eshe's unapologetic attitude and leather clad body while Eshe is attracted to, well everything that is Armand. At first Armand wishes to send Eshe away so she doesn't meet the same fate as his previous mate and wives but there is no way she will go for that. Instead they start to ask questions and find out what really happened all those years ago. They will need to find out who is behind the deaths before Armand loses both his son and life mate.

Armand Argeneau decided to exclude himself from his family after the death of his third wife. All deaths were deemed accidental but the likely hood of three immortal women dying of similar deaths is very slim. Armand sent his daughter to be raised by her aunt and cut off almost all family contact thinking he was protecting them. Aside from the occasional visits from his first wife's family and people he hired to help take care of his farms, Armand has spent years alone and has been ok with it. That is until Eshe rode in on a motorcycle wearing leather and brought meaning back to his life. Eshe d'Aureus is there to find out what happen to Armand's wives. She's also looking into the death of Nicholas' wife and the death of a human woman that Nicholas is accused of committing that all seem to be connected to Armand. They know almost right away they are life mates. It goes from being a job to Eshe to trying to clear the name of the man she wants to spend the rest of her life with.

I liked the romance between Armand and Eshe but their relationship didn't have the same depth to it as those of couples in previous books in the series. They had chemistry and sparks were flying but that little something extra you found in other couples was missing. It may be because the romance takes a back seat to finding out what happened to Armand's wives and saving his son from being executed. The 'who done it?' story line was interesting and there were turns that hand me changing my guess as to who really was behind it all. This wasn't my favorite book in the series but after the less than spectacular Rogue Hunter books (with the exception of The Renegade Hunter which I really enjoyed) it was a nice improvement.

Lucien Argeneau and Justin Bricker are two great characters and I was glad to see they them in this book. Lucien is so serious about everything and I liked watching Eshe challenge him every chance she got. Bricker is one of the younger vampires. He is very funny but unlike a lot of younger male characters you see in books, he doesn't slack off and takes his responsibility as a rogue hunter seriously. I hope he gets a book soon.

Born To Bite is the latest installment to Lynsay Sands popular Argeneau series. Even though I didn't think it was the best book, I believe fans who are already invested in the series will enjoy it. If you haven't already read the books then I suggest going back and starting at the beginning because those are the best of the series. The Argeneau/Rogue Hunter books are fun because there is a lot of comedy and family dynamic worked into this very much paranormal romance series.

Argeneau bites again! Sands fans can rest assured knowing the latest Argeneau novel Born to Bite is just as great as book one. This book may have a different tempo than her earlier novels, but it still captures the same paranormal story fans know and love.

Armand Argeneau has been unlucky in love. His last three wives have met an early demise and the poor man is beginning to think himself cursed. Being immortal just isn't all it's cracked up to be. So he has pushed everyone away...his friends, his family, anyone that might be hurt by his horrible misfortunes. It's all a little too peculiar for the vampire council, who doesn't think Armand is unlucky, but perhaps the murderer of his previous wives. Which is why the council sends Eshe d'Aureus to Armand's farm to find out the truth. Their attraction is instantaneous and with good reason. The two vampires are life mates or rather two immortals destined to be together. Finding a new life mate has many new overwhelming urges which are difficult to control. Eshe must focus not on her new life mate, but the case at hand. She must discover what really happened to these women if they are going to spend a happy life together. That is, unless Armand really is the killer?

Born to Bite picks up where the last Sands vampire book, The Renegade Hunter leaves offs but has quiet a different feel. You still have some of the characters fans now know and love, but the tone of this book is very different. These new lead characters are older, and more mature than previous novels. Eshe is the focused composed female with an unquestionable reserve of determination. She walks her own line, rarely inclined to follow orders. Armand is the quiet and calm type. He keeps to himself and tries not to cause trouble. For the most part, he doesn't let his impulses take control. At least not until his life mate instincts kick in. Then both Eshe and Armand are lost in a whirlwind of new emotions. These characters are entertaining because they are opposites in almost every way, yet still perfect for each other.

The story isn't all about action and adventure, yet the pace of the novel still moves quickly and seamlessly. It reintroduces the happy and fun loving vampire family Sands has created. There are many wonderful qualities to Lynsay's characters. They are so genuine, so funny with such sparkling personalities you are always ensured a delightful read. And no matter what obstacles she throws in the way, there is always time for the characters to steam up a few of the pages!

This book has a great sense of humor and isn't too dark. Lynsay has created her own unique brand of vampires that are funny more than they are scary. To new readers, the background is briefly mentioned in the first few chapters to get you up to speed and to avid fans this will be the umpteenth time we are reminded why they are what they are. The Argeneau immortals are part of a wonderful universe you will be delighted to learn more about. Born to Bite is a light and fun read for any paranormal fan. The book has danger, passion, mystery and will keep you intrigued from page one until the end. Sands book are like potato chips...once you read one, you have to come back for more. Born to Bite is just another example of why her books are highly addictive!

I forgot how much fun these are to read. We are not bogged down with too many of the characters with whom we are familiar from previous books in the series, only Lucian, Bricker and Marguerite are present enough to make much of a difference. If you have never read Sands you are in for a treat. This novel re-infuses life into the series. It is a different set up from the other books. And, it ends the doubts about a very big mystery.

One reason I really enjoy this book is its individuality. It has always seemed that the Argeneau Immortals find mostly mortals are their life mates. There has usually been a big dilemma over being changed (How sad: being turned into a perpetually healthy, perpetually at ones peak of fitness and beauty - no cellulite, no zits. You can eat and go out in the day time, you could even go out to eat in the daytime.) The reason you need blood is that your body is filled with nanites (according to [...] a nanite is a robot built on an atomic or molecular scale, created through nanotechnology) constantly repairing any and all damage to your body and they are fueled by blood. The Argeneaus can go out in the sun but then need more blood to repair the damage. This is one of my favorite explanations for the Vampire (they prefer Immortal) change.

In this book it isn't an immortal and a human hooking up and so there is more time for plot because there isn't a chapter devoted to convincing the human you are a "vampire" and that you are lifemates. The couple falling in love here are Armand (Lucian's brother) and Eshe, whose dad was an original Atlantean. So we essentially move from hello to let's go to bed in short order. The idyllic nature of finding one's lifemate is interrupted as incidents that can't be accidents start to happen. In the series it is known that Armand lost three wives, two by fire and one by decapitation. His oldest son lost his pregnant lifemate in a crash. Other Immortals have long believed that either Armand or his son Nicholas are the killers. Nicholas was found over the body of a mortal woman after his wife died, and went on the run for 50 years. Recently Nicholas was forced into turning himself and having recently met his lifemate, in he is in prison waiting to be proven innocent or executed.

When Eshe, a rogue hunter, is set to Armand's remote farm ostensibly for her protection but really to investigate these deaths, Lucian seems to suspect the pair may be life mates. Maybe he is because it seems to be almost contagious. But, even as the couple grows closer, the mystery becomes more dangerous for them both. Were the late wives' deaths accidents? Armand has had his suspicions.

Armand is the only family member so far who does manual labor. He even owns farms,. He is lonely and had to send his three kids by three separate wives away for their protection so he feels a combination of guilt as a parent and misses having raised them. In these books the
immortals seem older, mature which constrasts with their twenty-something appearances. Eshe is a is described as having mahogany skin. she is tall, and favors black leather. She has been without a life mate for centuries and Armand really turns her on, big time. Her reasons for saving both Armand and his son are escalated. Now if they can only stay alive to prove both are innocent. These characters are fun. Like all Argeneau men, Armand can be a bit internal and brooding. Eshe is an excellent counter to that.

I think the the story benefits from the additional time spent building the mystery. If I were looking for a good book with some heat to read by the pool, in the hammock or curled up by the fire this would be a great choice.

High number of respectful sexual references, moderate violence and reference to violence.

I do so love Lynsay Sands' books. Having said that, this was a very half-hearted, bumbling, and crude attempt from her. I found her 'cat in heat' remarks and all the overdone lingerie choices distasteful. She wrote this like she was writing a porno book and not erotic fantasy. Yuck! Her female characters until this one have been sexy and strong in their own way but Eshe exhibits no charm and is lacking in all feminine grace and modesty. Normally, the love scenes are really steamy (WHEW!), but with these two characters it is as if she had no idea how to portray people of color. As long as this series is going, at some time it is expected we should see all races depicted but if she cannot write tender yet HOT scenes with the change in the ethnicity of the character... well, I will just have to drop her from the 'A' list of authors to recommend. Shame on her for trying to write a story with African Americans in it when she obviously knows nothing about the interactions between the males and females of that race? Clearly she has no friends of color or she would never have written this trash. I mean, she IS a author who writes stories for a living! At the very least she could have read some African American or Interracial Romance novels or watched some love stories to research before jumping in and offending everyone. I don't know about you but I cringe to see her write a story with the main characters race being Asian, Hispanic or Indian (both Native American as well as from India) after reading this trash. People are people...or in this case immortals are immortals. I don't want to read PORN. I bought her books for the EROTIC, fantastical spell she wove that had me enthralled and impatient to get to the next page; long-suffering when pesky little things like the daily grind - you know, the routine of real life - interrupted my immersion into the world of the Atlantians. So...I will give her one more chance. If she ruins the next story line, she is off the list. I do so hope she researches the other rich cultures that make up America before inserting her foot in her mouth and again offering up an offensive rag. I already have fallen in love with Sherrilyn Kenyon, Nalini Singh, and J. R. Ward so I will bear up under the loss.

Born To Bite by Lynsay Sands continues the delightful stories of the Argeneau family.

Armand Argeneau has retreated to his farm to live a life of the gentleman farmer. After all three of his former wives have met with tragic deaths. He decides it would be safer for his children and extended family if he didn't have much contact with them. The head of the family Lucian asks for Armand's help he reluctantly agrees. He figures he can offer a safe place to hide to one of Lucian's enforcers. But Armand's first meeting of Eshe d'Aureus has him feeling thinks he has thought had died centuries ago.

Eshe d'Aureus is sent to Armand Argeneau's farm with an ulterior motives. She is send to find out who is behind the deaths of Armand's wife's and the death of his sons wife as well. Eshe has to get close to Armand to discover the truth. The truth gets complicated when they discover that they are life mates.

Armand and Eshe join forces to get to the bottom of these terrible deaths. Along the way they become targets of the evil that is closer then either of them realize. Trying to stay out of harms way begins to prove tricky, trying not to fall in love is much harder for both of them.

Lynsay Sands Argeneau series if funny, witty and all out sexy. I loved this series from the first book and it has only grown deeper with each story. This story will answer a lot of questions about the past. Armand and Eshe are a treat, their chemistry and connection is very satisfying. I can't wait for the next book to come out. Kudos.

I'm happy to finally read about Armand's story. He has been mentioned several times in past books and was always curious as to what happened to his wifes. I don't know what is was about this book, but it feels like it took me forever to get through it. Right off the back it started into the Atlantis and the nano's explanation from Eshe, it felt kind of like a yada yada yada, quick run through by Eshe. I'm getting a little sick of reading the explanations over and over again. I get it though, it's important to explain to the mortals and maybe to a new reader. I really liked the chemistry between Armand and Eshe and was glad to see Bricker again. He always brings some nice comedic timing to the table and I love when past characters show up, it makes me feel like they never left and gives us glimpses into their lifes past their main books. I was a little dissapointed to have Eshe and Armands shared dream skipped over. That was always a HOT plus for me in past books. The fact that they were both immortals and were very accepting of the Life Mate situation may have been a factor in that. Overall, I like it and can't wait for her next two books

Armand Argeneau thinks that he's doing a favor for his brother by allowing Eshe d'Aureus hide out in his home. She's supposedly being chased by a rogue vampire looking for revenge. Little does Armand know that she's really there to investigate the suspicious deaths of Armand's late wives. Neither Eshe or Armand suspect that they will discover they are lifemates. Now Eshe and Armand must band together to discover the truth behind the enemy who has been plaguing Armand for so long and accept that they are meant to be together.

The Argeneau books keep me hooked. From one story to the next, I find myself compelled to lap them up and Born to Bite is no exception. Armand and Eshe are not young vampires and both have had lifemates before, so their coming together has the feel of a wonderful second chance. Readers won't be disappointed with this new installment of Lynsay Sands's Argeneau family!

Loved it! Another great Argeneau read from Lynsay. She keeps us on our toes trying to figure out who murdered Armand's wives and framed Nicholas for the mortal's murder. Each time we think we have it figured out there is a snag that says we're wrong. She does a nice job at hiding the truth from us so we can't prove anything.

So Lucian sends Eshe to Armand's farm under the pretense that she is in hiding from Leonius the second. Armand and Eshe realize that they are life mates. Both had had life mates that had died a long time ago so this is a wondrous thing if Armand isn't a murderer. What transpires is Eshe knowing that Armand is innocent but she still has to find out who is the murderer so that Nicholas can be cleared. While investigating Eshe and Armand are almost killed a few times. It is a fantastic read. Enjoy!

Vampire Armand Argeneau is stunned when his lifemate and two other women close to him all died mysteriously accidental. The Council sends undercover Enforcer Eshe d'Aureus to investigate the farmer as the brass wonders if Armand is a spousal serial killer. His brother Lucien enables Eshe to get onto Armand's farm as he tells his sibling that she is hiding from Leonius Livius the second who wants her dead.

As she investigates her host, she and Armand are shocked to realize they are life mates. Neither is pleased with this revelation as she fears she loves a psychopathic murderer and he fears the three women he cherished were murdered by an unknown adversary who probably will make his fourth female he holds dearly the next target. When the incidents begin, Eshe wants to believe a third party is causing them, but she still has niggling doubts about her beloved as all evidence seems to point to him yet everyone who knows him including his in-laws think the world of him.

The latest Argeneau urban fantasy (see Bite Me if You Can, Love Bites and A Quick Bite) is a terrific atypical entry in which the story line is more of a super investigative thriller rather than the vampire romance though the latter is a key secondary subplot. The story line is fast-paced and contains amusing interludes especially when Eshe drives Lucien crazy. Series fans will relish this wonderful tale while newcomers will also appreciate the vampiric whodunit.

Born to Bite follows up the story in The Renegade Hunter (book 12) and is all about clearing Nicholas Argeneau's name.

Born to Bite was full of suspence and I had absolutely no clue who the murderer was untill the very end.
I loved Eshe... she's one of the 2 female enforcers and is a tough girl with a mind of her own, a positive attitude and she doesn't take s*** from anyone. She is sent to investigate Armand Argeneau to find the proof that Nicholas is innocent. When she meets Armand she really hopes he didn't have anything to do with all the murders cause Armand turns out to be her lifemate.

Bricker was in this book again as well! I just love him and I hope there will be a book about him soon!

Someone had killed Armand's first lifemate and his two wives. They had framed Armand's son, Nicholas for the murder of a mortal woman and killed his lifemate, as well. In order to prevent Nicholas from being executed of a crime he didn't commit, Lucien sent his enforcer Eshe, to investigate and discover the truth. Interestingly enough, Armand and Eshe were lifemates.

I was first introduced to Eshe in The Immortal Hunter. She was wild and rebellious, I liked her fire. Then, when she made her first appearence in Born to Bite, I saw that fire again, but it was quickly diminished as the story continued. I am not sure, if it was because of Armand, but he did have a tendency, to suck all the fun out of the book. I had a hard time believing, he was a member of the Argeneau family. While he might have been described as the most handsome, he lacked the charisma, that the men in the family had. In fact, he lacked substance and depth. Not to mention, I learned more about his dead lifemate and wives, than I did about him. I found it hard, to have any kind of emotional connection, with both Eshe and Armand. I felt that both characters were under developed. While, it was obvious, they had a connection being lifemates, I just didn't feel the sizzle or the romantic essence of the relationship. I also felt, the author should have utilized Eshes wild side, especially while visiting a small town. I can only begin to imagine, the fun she could have had with it. But, even the supporting characters came off a bit humdrum. The only saving grace was the appearance of Bricker. I loved Bricker's care free wit and charming personality.

I did think the plot was good. I was looking forward to the final revelation, as to who was behind all the murders and I wasn't disappointed. I even liked how the investigaton slowly progressed, as Eshe began to put the pieces of the puzzle together. What I didn't like, was how dense Armand seemed to be. I also didn't like, the fact that, the author didn't have the family more involved, especially considering, there were a couple private detectives in the family.

Overall, I really wanted to love this book, but this book felt out of place within the series. While the plot was good, the essence of family was missing. As I mentioned before, this series centered on members of the Argeneau family and not so much the plot. But, this book didn't. My joy in reading this series, had always been, how the family united when things got tough. I loved the charm, the wit, and the love that came, when they all connected. Sadly, I didn't feel that connection in this book. I couldn't seem to engage with the characters and I couldn't seem to feel the romantic tingle. I might have got my revelation with the murders and answeres to some lingering questions, but I didn't get my satisfaction with the wit and charm or the romantic love story, that I have come to love with this series. Hopefully, the next book will have the essence, of what I have come to believe, the series to be about.

What's an Argeneau to do in matters of the heart when every woman he gets close to dies tragically?

Armand Argeneau has become a recluse after his wives and daughter-in-law perished under mysterious circumstances. But even worse is the fact that Armand is being considered a suspect by his fellow immortals, and an enforcer, Eshe d'Aureus, has been sent to investigate the matter. That Eshe is a gorgeous female that he can't telepathically read -- a potential lifemate -- doesn't help matters any. The last thing Armand needs is another woman dying because of her connection to him.

Eshe has been through her own share of problems over the years. The daughter of a hero to the "good" vampires of the world, life has always been complicated for her, especially since losing her own lifemate centuries earlier. But while her attraction to Armand might complicate her investigation, Eshe is determined to see it through -- regardless of the fact that being around him for any length of time makes her lose her mind...

This is the best book Lynsay Sands has written in awhile! I was excited to finally read the tale of the ill-fated Armand, whose poor luck with lifemates and wives has been alluded to in numerous previous books -- and in the Argeneau family tree which illustrates each. The first book about the beloved family of vampires since the "Hunter" series, "Born to Bite" really returns to what made the early novels great, and ups the ante a bit. Armand and Eshe are one of the better couples -- since both are already vampires, they are able to accept the circumstances of their relationship and lives without some of the side-effects that have been seen in the other "Argeneau" books.

I think one of the best attributes of this particular book is the fact that it's really as much of a mystery as it is a romance, which suits the story and characters nicely. It is, after all, a Lynsay Sands book; readers can be fairly certain that they'll end up with a delightful and happy ending. What makes it really interesting is what happens on the way, and adding a centuries-old cold-case into the equation is a perfect addition to this book.

One of the best "Argeneau" books in awhile - don't miss it, fans!

Armand seemed to be plagued with the worst luck in the women department. Losing 3 wives and a daughter-in-law, he finally decided, even before his son list his wife, to stay away from family members, but especially the female's. This of course led to a very lonely life and at the top of the councils suspect list. Lucian brings in Eshe to find the truth, and what results is a great mystery along with the two discovering they are life mates.

feels like forever since the last Argeneau Vampires novel by Lynsay Sands but this was by far worth the wait. The story stars Lucian's brother Armand the father of Thomas and Nicholas. It also the story that tells the rest of the tale seen when Nicholas meets Jo in a previous novel of the series. While Nicholas and Jo is held in protected custody by the enforcers Eshe is assigned to learn the truth. She learns much more that she is a life mate for Armand. Like his previous wives that makes her a target for death. This turns into a murder mystery story with many suspects all with a alibi who could of killed each of Armand's three wives as wells as framing Nicholas for a mortal's murder. Having heard so much about his bad luck with women and how his wives died by accident its interesting to read what really happened to them.

This is a review of the Audiobook!!

Although it was nice seeing the storyline introduced during Nicholas and Jo's adventure come to a satisfying conclusion, this novel was nothing to write home about. The love between Eshe and Armand lacked depth. They had (almost) no conversations except a few about their dead mates. They did not seem to have anything in common. The only thing binding them together was the fact that they were lifemates. Eshe especially was quite one-dimensional. I liked having a black (mixed race) heroine, however I missed the physical descriptions you usually have in this type of novels. The narrator was ok.. Except for his dreadful renditions of Lucian Argeneau and of Eshe. (I know it's not easy for men to adopt a credible female voice, but Eshe's voice in this one had me cringing..) All in all: I usually love Lynsay Sands and I remain optimistic so I'm still looking forward (if a bit more cautious than before) to the next installment... I'll say three stars because I'm in a good mood. Truthfully, the book was worth 2,5.

Overall the book was wonderful but I found it a bit to long.

Eshe and Armand made a great couple. He has the out look of a glass half empty and she has the opposite view. She brings light to his life.

The investigating into the death of Armand's former wives is what took so long to solve. It was slow
but gave me a satisfying conclusion.

It just goes to show what can happen when you chose to sire the wrong person.

I was always curious about Thomas's father, Armand. What was his deal? Why did all his previous wives' die? How come he hardly ever spoke to his children or the rest of his family? Well this is his story and it answers all of those questions! If you are a fan of this series, don't pass this one up. Those three Hunter spinoff books were lame but this is definetly a return to what made this series interesting.

Rather tame and predictable story from an author that otherwise is both entertaining and fun.
The romance between two immortals that have seen their share of life and death, is just not something to look forward to. Sad to say, is just simply and totally MEH.

Started out interesting then turned boring. There wasn't any relationship development between the main characters just a trip to the mall together. Armand and Esch only wanted to jump in bed once they decided they were life mates. The story line quickly lost my attention. There was way too much talk of the past and too many past wives to keep up with each of their stories. This book could have benefited from more present action and less sitting around talking about the past.

Lynsay Sands once again proves she can combine great sex with a great mystery in her latest Argeneau Family Novel. This latest Argeneau novel focuses on the loner Amand Argeneau, who lives an almost exile life from his children and family. His past is a mystery that includes three dead wives.

In rolls Eshe d'Aureus, an enforcer who is under orders from Vincent Argeneau to discretely investigate his brother's wives' deaths. The attraction between the two sizzle from the moment she enters his life.

Sands takes up a non-standard method of portraying her "vampires". The Argeneau family are surviving Atlanteans. When Atlantis was destroyed their nano infused bodes altered them to better survive in a world without the advanced technology of Atlantis.

This novel follows in the tradition of all Lynsay Sand's novels providing sizzling sex, love you'd die for and a touch of mystery to keep you guessing til the very end.
