I stick with this series because I like the characters, although I find the writing moderate and the attention to details very bad. This is my least favorite of the whole series. Vivisection - really! That made me pretty sick to begin with. The gene splicing ideas were out of really bad science 101. The rest of it was ok, but with that under-pining I had real issues. On top of that characters I had come to enjoy from other books showed up without any of the charm they originally displayed.

I have read all of the author's vampire books but this is the most demented repulsive book of torture that was unnecessary to the story. The author has obviously lost her ability to come up with creative story lines. Time to stop writing if this is the best you have. Buy this book only if you are demented and love to read about unbelievable pain and torture. For those of you who enjoy the usual vampire romantic love story, stay away.

Well this latest addition to the Argeneau series is quite simply non stop entertainment! This author brings her own twist to traditional vampire lore with these her Immortals who also just happen to be descended from a race that nowadays is the stuff of legends. Yet not content to simply leave it there we get the added bonus of a scientific vibe with nanos and of course mind blowing sexy times! I mean come on wouldn't you like to tick passing out into glorious oblivion from the ultimate shared big O off your bucket list? Yet this instalment blows all the cobwebs away with the addition of a mad scientist ! Prepare to buckle up for an unforgettable ride!
So this series has been leading up to all the dastardly deeds that have been happening on a mysterious Venezuelan island and the Immortals have never been in more peril. You would think with all their strength and speed they would be invincible but unfortunately not as they all share a weakness, the need to protect their life mates ! Domitian found his when she was barely a teen and nobly decided to wait until Sarita had grown up and tasted the world. Now he wakes chained to a table and faced with the independent life mate who never knew he existed! Sarita has been lied to, drugged and now she's all alone with a blood sucking vampire! Still it's not all bad as he is kind of cute but it's a bit creepy that he's had her followed for the past fifteen years and as far as Sarita is concerned there's definitely not going to be any sexy shenanigans . Hmm lets see how long that lasts !
Keeping a long running series fresh is a challenge that this author has clearly relished and this new departure has so many possibilities. There's still the heat that excites so many readers with veteran characters making an appearance and of course new and somewhat unusual ones here too! If honest I was a little taken aback by Saritas initial reaction to everything she sees and learns as personally I'd have been running screaming but then again as individuals we all react differently . Sarita is sassy and stubborn but pairing her with such a sweetie as Domitian worked out beautifully. Yes there's danger, suspense and humour too but for this reader the mad scientist added just enough darkness to keep me gripped.
A copy of this was provided for me and I have voluntarily read it which means my comments are my own honest opinion

I realize it’s a cliché when a reviewer says that the storyline grabbed them from the first page but that really happened to me. Right off the bat, the novel opens up with a dramatic prologue where Domitian is in a heated discussion with Lucian and it’s a shocking exchange. I had no idea so many Immortals had disappeared, especially people who I’ve ‘met’ in previous books; characters that I’ve come to adore and love it whenever they are on stage. To think that someone has the ability to overpower my favorite descendants from Atlantis boggled my mind. How? What powers do they have? Yes, those first few pages lay the groundwork for an amazing, mind blowing and stunning adventure that raises the bar in the Argeneau saga to new levels. Readers, buckle up. Immortal Unchained is a wild ride and is nothing you’ve seen before. Ms. Sands has a true winner on her hands and it’s stunning.
The first full chapter introduces Sarita, the heroine. It starts off so benign and innocuous. Don’t let it fool you. The heroine isn’t a helpless damsel; she is a cop and she has good instincts. Something doesn’t add up so being the good officer she is, she investigates. What follows propels the plot and story forward at a dizzying speed. Sarita is abruptly thrust into the world of the Immortals and their fight to survive in what turns out to be a hellish captivity. What the villain does to them is truly horrifying. Ms. Sands’ writing makes that very vivid and clear to a reader. The good news is that the disturbing, dark and insane goings on does not overwhelm a reader. Ms. Sands walks a fine line between horror and dramatic adventure while keeping the growing romance between Domitian and Sarita front and center. This novel has a hefty plot that is amazingly intense. The pace is furious and gripping; I couldn’t flip the pages fast enough because revelation after revelation left me astonished and dumbfounded. How could the villain do what he did for so long? The hero and heroine stumble upon their answer and once again the truth is jaw dropping. There is no way I could have guessed the true scope of what Domitian and Sarita are faced with. The big question, will they escape? How? There doesn’t seem to be any allies to help them and there’s no way to contact the outside world to send out a cry for help to Lucien and the rest of the Immortal Hunters. It looks so hopeless. Help comes but from a quarter that a reader can’t even guess or fathom. I remember sitting there, staring at the pages in astonishment. This book is awesome!!!
There are a lot of important new secondary characters, some of which I suspect will show up again in the future because they have a certain …edge which could really help the Immortals. They’re going to need all the help they can get because the final showdown closed this story arc but effectively opened up a new one. Yes, there is a solid and satisfying happy ever after that is as sexy and romantic as a reader could wish, and many loose ends are tied up but the biggest loose end is a new beginning. A new threat has emerged and I bet it’s going to be unpredictable, challenging and diabolical. Just you wait until you get to that part of the book then you’ll understand why the next book in the series can’t come fast enough. There are new characters to sympathize with and I want to know what happens to them. The world as they knew it is no more, so what’s going to happen now? Ms. Sands has made me care for these new characters and I expect them to be an asset to the series. Certainly these people help breathe new life into what is already an awesome and riveting succession of novels. I don’t know how Ms. Sands does it but she’s getting better and better and readers and fans reap the benefits.
Run, don’t walk, and grab your own copy of Immortal Unchained. This novel is going to find a welcome and permanent spot on my keeper shelf. It’s that marvelous.

Yeek, this book certainly took me to places I never expected to go in this series. I guess by the time you reach book #25 you've got to start changing things up.
If you've read the previous books (or even the previous one alone) you know that there is a big bad out there who is kidnapping immortals and experimenting on them. He tried and failed to get the twins, but appears to be stepping up his work. When it becomes clear that he has taken Domitian's life mate captive, he dives right in, offering to help. The big bad, however, knew all about his drive to save his life mate and they soon find themselves trapped together in a luxurious island... under constant surveillance.
The romantic story is, of course, about life mates. This time, however, Domitian discovered his life mate, Sarita, when she was entirely too young to be claimed. He bided his time, had someone watching her, but letting her live a full human life before he approached her. This waiting may have given the evil doctor more than enough time to locate and get her to into his clutches. Aside from being kidnapped, having to explain the whole nanos thing, and accepting a whole bunch of things outside of their control, these two also end up infiltrating the evil doctor's island base where he conducts his experiments. While this tale doesn't really end with a fully satisfying evil-doer in custody, it is certainly a nice step in the right direction. I'll be happy when this storyline is over.

It's sad that I made it to book 25 in this series before writing a review. I blame it on the fact that I didn't discover this series until there were already over twenty books. I then proceeded to binge chain read the entire series to that point as fast as I could. Now that I'm caught up and have to wait for each new book to be released before reading it like a normal person, I have time to write reviews. Although the thought of going back through the first twenty-four to write reviews is a bit daunting.
Sadly, this is not my favorite book in the series thus far. Not that I don't like Sarita and Domitian, I do. I think that they're a great couple. I love Domitian's gentlemanly restraint in waiting for Sarita to grow up before approaching her in person, even though it had to be driving him crazy. I like Sarita's creativity and resourcefulness. I wish that the next book could still be about them and what they do next. What I didn't like was the whole Island of Dr. Moreau storyline. It's just a personal prejudice of mine. I watched that movie as a child and disliked the story then and time hasn't cured me of my distaste. So, it took me forever to get through this book, even though I really like all of the characters, even those that are introduced in the latter part of the book, and I'm dying of curiosity to learn what happens to them. It was worth it to finally get through.

I have purchased all of Lynsay Sands' Argeneau series up to this book. I've enjoyed getting to know the characters and seeing how they meet their life mates and have enjoyed the family dynamic. Even the Rogue Hunting based books were ok. However Ms. Sands has gone down the same path now as other paranormal authors with a doctor villain capturing many of the characters we've gotten to know in previous books. I got the sample of this book and didn't get far into reading when I stopped (I picked the sample first based on some of the other reviews). That is the point in the book that introduces torture of one of the characters who I saw listed as missing and whose description I recognized. Sorry, I enjoy these books for the entertainment; but seeing characters I like tortured isn't entertaining to me. Until Ms. Sands moves off of this theme, I won't be buying any more of her books.

3 stars because I have not yet finished the book. I will, though. I just had to say something before I forget.
There is a HUGE, MAJOR inconsistency right at the get go in this novel. Dressler doesn't know how immortality is transferred to another, eg a lifemate? Uh, "Accidental Vampire" - anyone remember that book? And it's happened more than once, where someone not a lifemate got blood into their system and were transformed. Accidental Vampire is the BIGGEST example of it, where she went through the change and had no clue even to what she was, except she thought she was a movie-type vampire. Blood dripped into her mouth from an accident. It did not drip into her from her lifemate at all.
I don't like this Dressler arc much. It's not so bad to have the bad guys being the no fangers and so forth, it makes for a story, but this crap right from the get go, what Dressler did, cutting a body in half and UGH. Also, in the prologue, so many are listed as having been taken by Dressler. Seriously? Don't they use their mind reading abilities and other powers? It should be easy for these vamps to beat humans - and both sides can use guns and such. The immortals should blow up Dressler's island, with him on it.

Setting: An Island off the coast of Venezuela
Genre: Paranormal romance
Domitian Argenis, one of the Spanish cousins to the Argeneau family, has been offered a job many times by Dr. Ramsey Dressler, but turned him down. Now that the Rogue Hunters have connected Dressler with the missing Immortals they have been searching for in the last few books, Domitian accepts the job offer in order to help stage a rescue. However, when his new employer's minions come to take him to the island where Dressler's lab is located, they incapacitate him and take all his technology. Sarita is a 30 year old police officer in Toronto who came to the island to visit her grandmother who has worked for the doctor for over 40 years. When she arrived, she was told that her grandmother was in Caracas at the hospital, and she would have to wait until the doctor returned from a trip to authorize the use of one of the vehicles to take her to the mainland. She finds out that the doctor is not off the island, but at his lab. She sneaks in, sees a horrific experiment going on, has the whole Immortals business explained to her and is knocked out. She wakes up wearing a skimpy nightie, in a beautiful home set in a tropical paradise on an island separated from the one she was on at the beginning. She is instructed to wake the guy chained up in the basement. Domitian wakes from his drugged sleep to see an incredibly sexy woman and is madly attracted. He tries to read her mind, but can't, meaning she's his life mate. But he already has a life mate, the sweet 15 year old girl he met in Caracas 15 years ago. A girl on whom he has gotten periodic reports (but no pictures) while he waited for her to grow up. Maybe he has two life mates to choose from? Then he figures out that the woman in the see-through negligee is, in fact, his sweet Sarita. She unchains him, they are attracted, he explains life mates, they have sex a lot, try to escape, yadda yadda.
This entry in the Argeneau series is okay. The humor of the books from early in the series is missing, as is the wonder the Immortal feels upon finding the person meant for him alone. I guess because Domitian has known Sarita was his for so long, his meeting with her is almost boring. And even though she has a hard time believing it, the whole Immortals, life mates, and life mate sex was explained to her, so it's just a matter of Domitian convincing her. I wasn't as invested in this couple as much as those in other books, but their escape attempts and the mystery of what is going on kept me listening. I felt like the climax of the story is somewhat abrupt, but with a long denouement that just lamely wraps up this story but leaves an opening for the Dressler saga to continue. I think the secondary characters we meet toward the end, one of whom is the doctor's son, Thorn Dressler, are almost more interesting than the protagonists. Even though he isn't an Immortal, it would be nice for Thorn to find his own HEA in a novella. The narrator of the audio, Julian Durant, made him sound so sexy. Durant did a creditable job with the other characters as well.
I waited a long time for this book and, while it wasn't a total waste of time, I wish I could have gotten it for less than one Audible credit. Despite the fact that the book is technically well written, with excellent grammar and usage, the story is weaker than I would have expected and was somewhat disappointing. However, despite its negative aspects, I may well listen to it again, especially prior to the release of the next book in the series.

Long time readers of the Argeneau series have been waiting for this book for awhile. Sands has been building us up to this Island of Dr. Moreau reminiscent story for the last few books now (Immortal Nights, Runaway Vampire) and Immortal Unchained does not disappoint. Dr. Dressler is every bit the mad scientist whacko we figured he'd be, and then some! On the one hand he readily admits that immortals are pretty much people just like anyone else, with families and lives and loved ones. On the other, he has no problem kidnapping all the immortals he can get his hands on and experimenting on them. Is he trying to learn how to recreate the original Atlantean nanobot technology? Does he want to become immortal himself? Is he just a sick mad scientist who likes torturing people in as many ways as possible? Does it have to be just one of those? (hint: no, it doesn't. Remember, he's a psycho)
Fortunately, the mad doctor doesn't get too much "onscreen" time. He has set up a remote location as a "romantic getaway" for Sarita and Domitian and they know whatever experiment he's set up, they want no part of it. It was a lot of fun getting to know Sarita and Domitian and watching them get to know each other while they work on escaping. Domitian is a great guy who blends complete sincerity with some very smooth lines. How can you not fall for a man who learned to cook so he could woo his life mate with amazing food (though he didn't eat at the time) and quotes The Princess Bride? Likewise Sarita is a modern, independent, practical woman who became a cop so she could make a difference and help people. She has no intention of sitting around and waiting for someone to save her when she can do it herself. She takes most of the craziness of the island in stride- it's hard to say vampires don't exist when the proof is right there. There is a great scene where they are getting to know each other and Sarita asks about Domitian's past. She's able to handle the whole "vampire thing" but when it sinks in exactly how old he is she goes straight for the open bottle of wine!
Sands does an excellent balancing act with the tone for Immortal Unchained. Obviously with the threat of a mad scientist, Unchained couldn't have the entirely light, often madcap, humor of some of the other Argeneau books. However, that humor-in-the-face-of-all-odds is also a trademark of any Lynsay Sands book and couldn't be left out here. I thought Unchained was perfectly balanced between the two. There's a scene in the beginning where our fears of the doctor are confirmed and Sarita realizes what she's walked into that the overly squeamish may want to skim over. Very quickly the complete threat the doctor represents is realized, without going into (too) gory details. No similar scene needed to be written for the entire rest of the book, it haunts us the way it haunts Sarita, threatening the worst while still reminding us that immortals are pretty hard to kill. We feel the urgency Sarita and Domitian feel to rescue everyone without continually being reminded through additional sessions with the doctor and Sands was smart to leave it that way.
It's no spoiler to say that we get the expected happy ending while at the same time getting a to-be-continued threat of more trouble to come. Readers new to Lynsay Sands' Argeneau series will need the first chapter to catch up, but should then enjoy it as much as the rest of us (plus have the additional fun of being able to read the rest of the series for the first time before the next book comes out in September!). Long time fans get to enjoy cameos by a few Argeneaus and Rogue Hunters we already know and love, while now adding Domitian and Sarita to the extended family tree.
A great new addition to the Argeneau series, Immortal Unchained lives up to high expectations while opening some new doors for potential future stories. A must read for paranormal romance fans and Lynsay Sands fans!

The new direction of this series is not for me. The first two books were ok but this third one is the final nail in my coffin. I have loved Lynsay Sands’ Argeneau series for years. It has been the only vampire light series that I continue to go back to time and time again to reread.
In this newest book Sands depicted Sarita as a cop and a strong heroine but in the next sentence showed her to be to-stupid-live. Time and time again she did this in the story. Now while most of Sands heroines from other books haven’t been strong heroines Sands didn’t contradict them so much or so often and it really bothered me a lot. It distracted and annoyed me to no end that I had trouble reading this book.
Now I understand that after 20 some books a series might get a little old and very predictable (BTW I would read 20 more predictable Argeneau stories in a heartbeat). I think that’s when you do a spinoff series instead of adding such drastic elements into an already much loved series.
The idea of adding a doctor that knew about the immortals and was kidnapping them was interesting…the whole mad doctor/scientist doing experiments on immortals to find out how they tick and just to torture them not so much. I personally wouldn’t have gone for that angle but it is what it is. I think this could have been done better in other ways and the doctor still could have been evil and after the immortals.
There were so many inconsistencies in this story. Now I get that after 20 some books that details can get a little fuzzy but Sands changed so much. (Things about lifemates and how they behave, how the turning happens and how long it takes, how the nanos behave in the body.)
I just couldn’t deal with all this. I have been a long time Sands fan but I am pretty sure this was my last book.

The Immortal population has been dealing with mysterious disappearances of their people for quite a while now. With the escape of the Notte twins Tomasso and Dante (from Runaway Vampire and Immortal Nights) we learned that a man by the name of Dressler is the one behind the abductions. Now, Lucian Argeneau has to figure out a way to infiltrate Dressler’s stronghold located on an island off Venezuela.
That’s where Domitian Argenis comes in. Domitian, a skilled and well-known chef, has been propositioned by Dressler many times over that past few months to come be his personal chef on his island. Lucian recognizes this proposition for what it is: a trap. But when Dressler also lures Domitian’s lifemate Sarita to the island, there is nothing that will stop him from going, regardless that he’s not a Hunter.
When Sarita receives a message stating that her grandmother has been injured, and is in need of care, Sarita leaves her life in Canada as a police officer and heads immediately to Venezuela. Instead of finding her grandmother, however, she’s waylaid by the mad Dressler and unwittingly pulled into his plans, whatever those plans may be. Now, she must work with the mysterious and delicious Domitian if they have any hope of escape.
Immortal Unchained marks a milestone in the series for Lynsay Sands in that it’s the 25th book! That’s impressive by any standards. I found that I overall enjoyed Immortal Unchained. There’s this undertone of The Island of Doctor Moreau running through it. And if you are at all familiar with this story, you will immediately understand the type of experiments Dressler has been conducting on his island, to a point.
I was a little thrown off in the beginning—with Domitian having already declared that Sarita is his lifemate and why exactly Sarita was on the island to begin with—I felt like I missed something somewhere.
But I liked the way Lynsay Sands builds up the specifics of the opening details in the way Domitian and Sarita get to know one another. They’re ‘getting to know you’ is a little unconventional in that they are definitely not meeting up for a coffee date. No, they end up being kept captive on a smaller more secluded island with little to no clothing between them, and that sets the tone for much sexytimes to ensue. But I liked that beyond the instant attraction they have towards one another, they actually take the time to talk and learn about one another. Domitian has lived a loooong life, and he has a very interesting history. And just because Sarita is a mere human, she’s still had many obstacles that have made her into the woman she is today. Also, everything we learn about Domitian and Sarita only lends itself to their strength and resilience to get off the island and save the people they care most about.
Immortal Unchained hit the mark for me more than the previous two books in the series. The big plus being, we get a lot more in regards to the missing Immortals story arc. But to that end, I will say things aren’t exactly tied up with a nice bow at the end, and it makes me very interested to see where the next book picks up.

Another good, but dark, entry in the series.
This one has a Dr. Moreau vibe to it. Dr. Dressler is a sadistic maniac. He's been kidnapping Argeneau people for awhile, yet they can't seem to find him. (Which is one my problems with the story line-you have money and people who know how to research, and you still couldn't figure out how he hid his property?)
So, there are some funny elements, like her lack of clothing choices, but overall, the humor from the early books is missing. And, being drugged will cause you to miss some stuff, so I don't fault them for not thinking straight at first.
I thought she, as a police officer, should have taken a better look at their strengths and weaknesses while they were formulating their plans. For example, it was not logical to divide their load of stuff equally, as he was obviously stronger and had broader shoulders. She didn't even scratch the surface of finding out his assets. However, I did like that she was proactive in searching the place for useful tools and so on.

Immortal Unchained by Lyndsay sands is not the first book I have read in the Argeneau series. so with that in mind, I will be weighing this story merits based on previous instalments of this fascinating series.
Well, first things first, This tale is told from two viewpoints, our heroine Sarita and our hot Vampire Domitian, I'm assuming that the reader is familiar with this series and life-mates but if not for the Argeneau virgins here's a brief explanation.
There's a life-mate for each vampire and the ability to recognise them comes from being unable to read or control their future life partner.
The vampires are originally from Atlantas.
it's the advanced technology with nano's that repair their bodies, that make them practically immortal, it's these nano's that need the extra blood.
You can only turn one person, so this is usually reserved for the life-mate.
so now that's out of the way lets get back to this book,
Immortal Unchained is book number 25 in this series it features the above two characters I mentioned before Sarita who is a cop and Domitian who after numerous occupations over his many years is now a chef.
Both end up stranded on an island after being lured there by Dr Dressler who seems very insane, so the mad scientist label would definitely be a fit.
Now all the action takes part on the small island our two lovebirds are stranded on and also a bigger one where the mad doctor has been running his diabolical unethical experiments from.
I really don't want to give too much away so will just say what I think
of the overall plotline.
This wasn't my favourite of Miss Sands books but was still a great read,
it was fast paced, the writing flowed and the action between our two mains well let's just say it was sizzling hot.
We get to meet previous characters from earlier books which was really nice, we also get a conclusion which while very satisfying also had an open-ended finish which paves the way for future releases.
so in conclusion, while not being my number one read of this author this is still a worthy offering of Argeneau yumminess that is well worth a read.
I received an e-copy free of this book from Netgalley and this is my own honest opinion.

IMMORTAL UNCHAINED is the 25th book in the Argeneau series. Though each does stand on its own, I highly recommend reading them all and in the order of release.
I borrowed this as an audio book from my local library. I enjoyed listening to it as I was driving to and from work. It was nine discs and took about 10 days of commute.
I said I enjoyed listening to this one, but honestly that was an understatement. Domitian is probably my favorite character since Lucern (Single White Vampire, Book #3). On top of the usual hot-as-the-sun, determine-to-claim-his-one-and-only-lifemate, this vampire quotes one of my favorite romance movies. (My boyfriend gets bonus points if he can tell me the name of the movie when he reads this review. Why don’t you leave your guess in the comments?) I also liked the story because of the amount of giggles brought about by Domitian’s and Sarita’s banter.
In the last few books, the lifemate was changed with control (drugs, chains, etc.). Sarita was changed in an emergency situation with nothing available and the description was beautifully written – a verbal theatre.
You would think after twenty-five books in a series that there would be a formula and it would be boring, but now we have an overarching theme in our super villain Dr. Dressler that has me intrigued and curious to continue.

Review courtesy of All Things Urban Fantasy:
IMMORTAL UNCHAINED is the twenty-fifth book in the Argeneau series, and I’m sad to say it is the last one I will read. It wasn’t so much that it was bad, but it was so similar to so many other things that have happened in previous books that I felt I was reading the same passages over and over again. Although the 23rd book had me excited for the new direction the series was taking, when we got there, it wasn’t worth it.
Sarita and Dominitian are both the same kind of characters we’ve been seeing from this series for a while now She’s strong willed and has a semi-tragic past. He’s a few millenia old and just now rediscovering what life is all about thanks to her. Sweet, but nothing that wasn’t sorted out in the first books.
There were also a few things I hated about this book. The “vampires from Atlantis” was once again boringly explained, this time by an evil doctor who spells it out to Sarita before drugging her and sending her to a secluded love nest with her life mate, Dominitian. He wanted to observe life mates in a “natural setting”, so he puts them up on a deserted island full of cameras, and he only provides a closet full of negligees and two piece bathing suits for Sarita to wear.
The most frustrating part for me was the incredibly obvious way out of the whole situation which they all ignored until things got really really bad. If you have super-powered people at your disposal, why are you going to try and bypass security to reach the only phone on the island? It just took time and made sure that the next book was easily telegraphed.
I feel like I’m betraying the author, the characters and the series, but I feel an editor somewhere should have stepped in and let her know her know that maybe, just maybe, twenty-five books to a series is about 15 too many.

I worried that maybe this might be one too many books in the Argeneau series BUT I WAS SO WRONG. This book was so, so good! It has everything you would expect from Ms. Sand’s long running series and more. It was infused with the perfect blend humor, passion, heat, danger, intrigue and even evil. Domitian Argenis is very, very old. He has been waiting so long for Sarita Reyes to be old enough for him to woo her and show her that she is his lifemate. Before he has a chance to do that they are both basically kidnapped and brought to the island of a mad scientist, Dr. Drexler, who has been experimenting on humans and immortals alike. He has kidnapped many of Domitian’s relatives already. Drexler leaves them alone together in a house so he can watch them interact and so they will bond as lifemates because he wants to use that to gain the information he is seeking.
The love story part of the story is very sweet and Domitian is the perfect gentleman and extremely sexy. I love how he always says “As you wish” to her. Sarita is of course a little taken aback by everything she is learning and a much harder sell on the whole life mate thing although she is definitely up for the physical part of the relationship. I really like her though, she has spunk and is quite sassy.
This is a real nailbiter as we hope and wait to see if Sarita and Domitian can find a way to free his family members, escape this madman and put him behind bars like he deserves.
One of my favorite lines in the book is the throwback to Princess Bride when Domitian says that he was going to walk up to Sarita and say “My name is Domitian Argenis...you are my life mate...Prepare to be loved.” I found myself reading that in Inigo Montoya’s voice. Very funny.
Great addition to the Argeneau series!
Another fantastically amazing read!

4.5-5 stars
This was a great story and addition to the series. Sarita and Domitian were both characters I really liked and their story was really good and kept me interested and engaged throughout.
Sarita is a cop that lives in Canada. Sarita was born in Venezuela, but her family moved away from there when she was very young, right after her mother died after a failed kidnapping. Sarita and her father moved to Canada to get away from the violence in Venezuela. Now, Sarita has lost all of her family except for a Grandmother that she's never met that still lives in Venezuela.
Domitian is an Immortal, a type of vampire originating in Atlantis that are made through the use of nanobots. Domitian is very old and has been waiting for a long time for his lifemate, the one person that's meant for him. He finally found her 15 years ago but she was only 13 years old at the time, way too young for Domitian to claim her. Domitian decided to wait until Sarita was grown and had spent 2 years in her chosen career before he moved to Canada to woo her.
Sarita is called to Venezuela because the Doctor her Grandmother works for, called to say she'd had an accident and needed Sarita. When Sarita arrives, she's given the run around and isn't allowed to see her Grandmother. When Sarita makes a move to find the mysterious Doctor to see what's going on, she finds that he's performing horrible experiments on Immortals that he's captured in an effort to see how others can be transformed. The next thing Sarita knows, she's been drugged and moved to a small home that seems to be remote and only reachable via a boat. The Doctor gave Sarita a brief overview of Immortals before he drugged her and once she wakes up, she finds her only companion in this place is an immortal named Domitian. They're lifemates and even if Sarita isn't sure how much of anything she's been told is true, she does find that she has an unnatural attraction for Domitian.
Domitian ended up on the island with Sarita after working with the Hunters that were looking for the Doctor that's been kidnapping immortals. Domitian decided to do this when he found out that the Doctor got Sarita to come to his island and Domitian feared for her life. Once they're trapped together, Domitian has to convince Sarita they're meant to be while figuring out a way to escape and notify the hunters about where the captured immortals are being held. Sarita is a very independent woman so there is some conflict as Domitian feels the need to protect her as much as possible while she wants to be part of things, convinced her human police training will allow her to achieve the needed goal. This is true to an extent but also, not really. Regardless of their disputes about how to handle things, with the help of some unexpected allies, Domitian and Sarita are able to get help and fix the bad situation they're in ending the story starting a HEA together.
I greatly enjoyed this story. I really liked Sarita and thought she was a great heroine. She didn't completely understand her own limitations at times and got in a bit of trouble in her efforts to protect Domitian but I still couldn't help but like her. Domitian was great. Although he's been a warrior in the past, he hasn't been one recently and yet he didn't hesitate to go into the fray to save Sarita and I loved that. Overall, the story was great and kept me interested until the end so I'd definitely recommend it. :D
* note - I listened to the audio version of this story and the narrator did a really good job.

I have been waiting patiently for this one. We get to see a new Argeneau (Argenis, origin) and continues on the ride on to the island of the crazy mad doctor/scientist that wants to see what and how the immortals work and just how far he can take it.
SWEET. SEXY. SAUCY. SCITILATING. SCALACIOUS. SUPERB. I love the new installation to the Argeneau family. We get to see an ancient immortal that had found his soulmate in that of a young girl. He watched and allowed for her to mature into a woman, but things go wrong when he gets nabbed by the crazies and she follows. This was a high intensity impact of danger and passion. We get to see the true depravity of the man that wants more than to just become an immortal. He was much much more.
Sarita was strong, independent, sexy, sweet, and capable of more than the normal female mate. She gave just as good as she got. She could give more. She was the saucy, spice that added to the interaction from both sides passion and dangerous intrigue. While Domitian was the cool sweetness of the passion and fire.
Come take a trip to the isles of the Venezuela coast with the Argeneau family. The hunters. And of course for those that have read the previous books Lucian. We get to see the depths of this villain depravity. I loved the new addition. I have read all of them and I can say with all honesty and realness. You do not have to read them all to enjoy this one. You do not have to read them in order to get the full passion, fire, sparks, coolness of this series. Each one have its own impact on you. There are some underlying elements but there are all standalone reads.
SWEET. SEXY.

I really enjoyed reading IMMORTAL UNCHAINED. Books with the fated mates trope are always a favorite of mine, and this spun things up a bit. Domitian met his destined mate, Sarita when she was much too young for him, and has been quietly keeping tabs on her since. Then despite his instincts, he didn't even jump to "claim" her the moment she became of age, but still waited until she had time to live her life first. Of course the whole fate thing always is a bit tricky and he meets her earlier than he expected in the most unfortunate way, bringing in a second trope of forced proximity. And boy did that bring an interesting twist. Sarita gets one heck of a crash course on the Immortals, and I was amazed at how well this firecracker took everything. Her sassiness made for the perfect compliment to Domitian and boy did she give him a run for his money. Add in all the danger and craziness of the plot, and you have a heck of a read.
What better endorsement can I give this book other than to simply say it's the 25th book in the series and I am still completely hooked. Every book is full of romantic fun with a lot of humor, a bit of sass, and always some danger to spice things up, and IMMORTAL UNCHAINED was no exception. Definitely a favorite in the Paranormal Romance genre, the Argeneau series, is not to be missed!

Immortal Unchained by Lynsay Sands
Argeneau & Rogue Hunter's Series Book Twenty-Five
Domitian Argenis has been waiting a very long time for his life mate. And then, he found her and had to wait even longer because she was still young and he wanted her to live a normal life for a while. And now...she is in the hands of a man who's been capturing immortals. Domitian takes a job as a chef to get inside and rescue her...and the others. After all, Dressler doesn't know he's an immortal—or so he thought.
Sarita Reyes needs to see her grandmother. After getting a message that she'd been hurt and that seeing Sarita would help her...she went immediately. And yet, no sign of Grandmother or Dressler. And then...she wakes up in a beach house with a stranger.
As always, the author adds plenty of humor as the characters try to escape danger, capture the bad guy, and try to resist life mate sex. Although...there's really no way to resist it once it hits. That's a lot for a mortal to take in when she's just finding out that the things of folklore exist.

Mixed feelings on this one. I did like both of the main charters, so that is a plus. And some of the secondary people were interesting too. Also a quick pop in from some people from previous books.
Did anyone else notice that some of the story had a bit of a feeling like the movie, "The Island of Dr. Moreau"? Of course with the element of some Immortals thrown in too. Not a bad story but as I read it, "I thought please let this be the end of this Dr. Dressler. I'd really like to see this part of the stories come to an end". I guess you will have to read the story to find out how THAT went.
If you are looking for action and a chase; yes there was that as well. There was some action of the "horizontal" kind as well. Of course, because of the attraction between life mates.
On a final note, I guess this Series is starting to lose some its "sparkle" for me. At least this book came middle ground for me.

Whew! This novel was intense from beginning to end. I don't know what I was expecting, but this wasn't it. Great read. I recommend it to all Lynsay Sands' fans who wanted to know why Dr. Dressler was kidnapping immortals.
I was on tenderhooks when I learned immortals from other books were kidnapped and separated from their lifemates. The kidnapped victim were strong men and women. How were they caught? There were twists and turns. Dr. Dressler is one sick hombre. I would really like to see this novel turned into a movie. I'm sure the cinematography would be spectacular.
"Immortal Unchained" reminded me of "The Island of Dr. Moreau;" just with more fantastical creatures. My head hurt trying to figure out how did they capture the immortals from speeding boats without anyone the wiser. As I said, twists and turns.
This book had everything: drama, horror, suspense, comedy, and sex.

Immortal Unchained is a creepy tale. This is the darkest yet most intriguing book by Lynsay Sands. It is similar in ways to Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde. A mortal man who is so crazy that he experiments on humans and immortals. A doctor who never should have been born. A man who cannot feel sympathy or love...here, the vampires have gone missing and been tortured by a mortal man wanting to be immortal...I could not stop reading. I had to find out what happened...and why. I am not dying to read the next book in this exciting series. If you love paranormal fiction, romance, and suspense, this is the book to read. Overall, I recommend this novel to all.

Though Sands writes well, I didn’t really enjoy this story. I never identified with either Domitian or Sarita. They spent so much time stranded on the island together and their budding romance should have been exciting but wasn’t really. Their sexual encounters didn’t match my expectation for steaminess. The dangerous times never got me worried for their fate.
I’ve not read the series so I wasn’t aware of Sand’s interpretation of vampires and even that disappointed me. I guess I like my vampires darker coming from evil, living horrid lives except the rare one who can fight his being and love a human. There was no serious inner conflict for Domitian or Sarita in their human-paranormal creature relationship. She even accepted her fate easily after being turned while unable to make the decision herself.
I’m sure fans of Sands will enjoy this book especially if they’ve been with her through the entire series.

Wow that was quite a book! Holy cow. So much going on and hard to say anything without giving away spoilers!
Lets just say I loved all of it.
I felt so bad for Sarita, so much awful in her life. But she got her HEA.
What craziness that is on Dr. Dressler's island. That was a surprise for me, and all the immortals.
I still have questions at the end of this book. But it doesn't end on a cliff-hanger! I just hope that the next book isn't tooo far away
* I received my copy from edelweiss in exchange for an honest review

I normally love Lynsay Sands she is one of my go to authors. This book had none of the normal witty comedy. I don't understand the whole point of t Dr. Dressler. It made me feel like Ms. Sands watched The Island of Dr Moreau and thought I'm going to write a book about that and throw in past beloved characters being tortured and i'll even throw in lifemates as well. Ms. Sands if you want to branch out into Horror that's fine but please start a new series. Don't turn a loved series into something it should never be. I hope that you get the whole Dr. Dressler situation cleared up and go back to how the series started out (a paranormal comedy romance)

Another wonderful tale in the Argeneau series. As the family grows so does the storyline. With the twins safe and the Hunters in Venezuela searching for the missing immortals and the evil Dr. Dressier, we are introduced to another branch of the family with Domitian Argensis. A restaraunteur chef and over two thousand years under his belt he not only knows where his life mate is but who. Unfortunately she is in the hands of Dr. Dressler and he, over Lucien's protests places himself in the mad scientist's hands.
You won't be disappointed in this installment!

I enjoyed this story quite a bit. Much more than the previous book actually. I liked how it jumped right in and it wasn't an Immortal explaining their history to Sarita, but a mad scientist. It was a nice twist. Actually, there were several twists throughout the book and it made me happy. One thing I missed while reading was the tons of humor previous books had. Also, even though it jumped right in, it did feel like it was slow at the beginning. Lots on in their head stuff going on. Anyway, it was still a good story.

This story just adds to this series. I am grateful that the author never deviates from her true writing. We stick with the storyline and make sure that it flows. We are family goes through my mind when I read this story and it made me smile. I can't wait to read more of these mixed creatures and how the immortals are dealing with it. I miss the core of the group though and I hope someday we can visit those characters and see how they are doing.

The book was filled with information on what happened to the missing Hunters and Dressler. I think based on the rest of the book the ending was rushed. Both main characters were well developed but there were a few areas when the female lead gave information that should have garnered the next response of "How do you remember all this?". Overall the book was very good and had lots of information on the villain. But I would still give it a 5 star

I could not put this book down. I thought this Argeneau story was more suspenseful than her previous books in the series. Lots of action, from the kick ass variety to the sexy kind. Sarita was an awesome heroine and Domitian was hot and sweet. Loved their interactions and chemistry. It was very cute. Also had Lynsay Sands' trademark humor at some parts to lighten up the nail biting moments. Overall a very enjoyable and entertaining story.

I loooove this series... Actually, I don't think I've not loved anything I've read written by Ms. Sands. You can't beat sitting down with a brew, a blanket, and a Lynsay Sands book as you are guaranteed a great experience. This book was no exception, it had it all, a great couple, excitement, heat and the added bonus of some new characters. Thoroughly enjoyed. She's one of my one-click Authors.

Ongoing revelation of the Argeneau family and all its variations. Ms. Sands transports us to a world where we get glimpses of the inhabitants and would love to stay longer. A little too spicy for children but everyone else who likes this genre will love it.

This one about Domitian & Sarita. The beginning was a little confusing, since I don't remember Domitian before this book. This one is grizzly, with a little bit of fluff. Nice to have Victor in this one. With the way it ended, you know there will be more dealing with dressler. A few new characters introduced.

I usually love this series and was looking forward to reading this book but, for some reason, this book just didn't work for me. Lots of little things bothered me. The female lead grew up with Spanish as her first language but in the story when Domitian says something to her in Spanish she has to translate it to English in her head which wouldn't be the case. Sarita is a police officer but is easily distracted. In the beginning of the story she's exploring the house with knives tucked into her thong waistband and forgets they're there when she bends down and cuts herself. Who would forget something like that? And as she approaches an unconscious vampire she's got blood all over her legs from these cuts but she decides she'll clean up later. Really? You're going to approach a vampire covered in blood? Oh, and the word "woo" is used way to much. Way too much. And the ending is anticlimactic.
So, I ended up just skimming through so I could finish it. I've loved the previous books and will continue to read the series. I just didn't care for this book.

This book was good. It has suspense and challenges with good characters but I really get confused by how the women act sometimes with the men when they hear about life mates. They act really haughty at times but in the end it turns out okay.

The best Argeneau story in a while. Action, adventure and love. We finally find out where the kidnappers were taking the twins (before they escaped) unfortunately others have been successfully kidnapped and Lucian and the rogue hunters are trying hard to find them. Immortal Chef Domitian Argenis may not be a rogue hunter but he has an invitation to the very island where they think the kidnappers have taken the others and to top it off that is where his life mate is. He can’t not go. The kidnapper is a horrific cross between Dr. Mengele and Dr. Moreau and the things we see cannot be unseen. It’s up to a chef and a human cop to get the information to Lucian and the rogue hunters before they too are experimented upon. This is a fast paced grab you by the seat of you pants rocket ride of a paranormal romance. I loved it.

The chemistry between Domitian and Sarita was strong. She is his lifemate and watched her grow over the years. She is a cop and has no idea about their bond. A family issue puts Domitian and Sarita in the same place and they have to work together to solve a major issue with Dressler. This book has a lot of action, drama and different aspects to it. You must read the book to get the full meaning of what's happening. I enjoyed this book and will read more from this author.
