I have read a lot in this genre. The overall idea for the story is good. The author just tends to beat the dead horse on her descriptions of just about everything. Four + pages dedicated to describing something easily described in two paragraphs got old really fast.

I READ THIS BOOK IN TWO DAYS AND THATS BECAUSE PEOPLE KEPT INTERRUPTING ME ALL THE TIME, THE WHOLE ENTIRE SERIES OF BOOKS BY LINSAY SANDS WAS BETTER THAN I EXPECTED, MAYBE SHE WILL HAVE ONE MORE BOOK.

All of Lynsay Sands books follow the same formula which may or may not be a bad thing. Personally, after reading one or two I'm through, no longer interested in the series. But they are very entertaining, easy to read and well written. If you've never read one of her books I would recommend it.
Vampire, Interrupted (Argeneau Vampires, Book 9) :: An Argeneau Novel (Argeneau Vampire) - Runaway Vampire :: A Rogue Hunter Novel (Argeneau Vampire) - The Renegade Hunter :: Vampires Are Forever (Argeneau Vampires, Book 8) :: The Rogue Hunter (Argeneau Vampires, Book 10)

I am enjoying this writer. This is not my most favorite of the set , but they do need to be read in the order they are on her web site do not read them in order they are published. I am looking forward to book 4. Can't wait.

This is the most side spliting humor and good vamp series I have ever read. Do not Miss The Argeneau Vampires @ friends. I sometimes wonder If I am disturbing my neighbors with my late at night Laughter that seems to come from Nowhere... A Must Read as are all of Lindsay Sands books.

Lynsay Sands Argeneaus's books are nice romances, I didn't like this one. I had to force myself to finish it so I wouldn't miss the line of the whole series.
Lucern starts as a grumpy, antisocial vampire but in the end he is a puppet in Kate's hands, going to ridiculous balls and accepting every kind of thing. OK, he is in love, but did it have to involve all that nonsense? He is often showed as a fragile vampire, physically and his strong mind disappears in the end.
I wouldn't recommmend this book.

What a waste of money. If these pathetic attempts at writing had been free I would still be disappointed. I actually bought 3 at once, and this is the plot: An old vampire woman with equally old vampire children manages to marry all of them of to a true life mate, miraculously within what seems like weeks from one another. This is not even fluff, it will actually kill brain cells!

Painful to finish.
I thought with a series, this must be an author to follow. Ugh.
I guess it was too Harlequin romance meets Lifetime movie for me. In fact, I could see this becoming an ABC family movie. Not a typical paranormal sic-fi. Is a typical romance novel....so if that is more your thing than paranormal, enjoy.

I threw this across the room in disgust. Serves me right for buying a book based on an amusing title.
The writing was sophomoric, the story was trite, and her "new" spin on the origins of vampirism was just idiotic. Way to uphold the cliche that vampires always have to be the most beautiful, intelligent, wealthy, successful, blah blah blah, make me puke. You're writing about vampires, not teddy bears with fangs.
Don't buy this book unless you like having your intelligence insulted. I've read more compelling refrigerator manuals.

(RabidReads.com.)That’s the first word that came to mind when I was thinking about writing this review. As I have said on a few of the other reviews I have done with this series, they are fun reads and there’s really nothing scary about the early books in the series. The later books are a bit more serious and have bad villains and those were good too. And still fun.
I am not really sure why this is named, Single White Vampire, other than it’s a catchy title. The title kind of implies matchmaking through ads or a dating website, but no, not so much. Or at all really. The main characters are Kate, a publishing editor, and Lucern, a six hundred year old vampire author. She needs him to do some publicity for his popular vampire books, while he wants her to quit harassing him to do so. But Kate is tenacious and in need of proving herself in her new position at the publishing house, so rather than take “NO” for an answer, she leaves New York City and turns up on his doorstep in Toronto. She is unaware that he is a vampire and is actually writing of his own family and their romances, complete with correct names. Of course, this baffles her when she meets all the people from his books, but takes it in stride and just thinks that Lucern is kind of eccentric. The story really takes off when the two end up at a Romantic Times type of convention together for a week-against his better judgement.
I’ve never been to a book convention, but this made it sound like such a good time. I think book bloggers would relate to a lot of the events that happen along the way there. Lucern starts out wanting to be anywhere but at a public book event, to being the star of the show with woman hanging on his every word or move. Kate goes from thinking that he is an irritating recluse, to being extremely attracted to him, as he is to her. She also starts out being really pushy and slowly begins to see why he is the way he is. When his blood doesn’t get shipped to him on time, the story gets laugh out loud funny at times-especially when she walks in on him about to bite her fellow colleague-a man. Funny because she thinks he’s coming on to the poor man. To be honest, this book had me laughing at several different parts of the book. Out loud,
There’s not a lot of world building, pretty much just enough to explain to Kate what he really is, and how he came to be. It’s an interesting twist on vampires and it’s touched on just enough not to be boring in each book. I appreciated that immensely. That makes these standalone pretty much if you want to read them out of order, but I do know that some go together at times-for example two of the more recent ones that feature twin brother vampires.
I enjoyed the premise of a book convention and a disinterested vampire author, the good characters, the just enough world building, the pacing, and of course the writing skills of the author. Pure escapism for the paranormal romance fan that doesn’t want their reads to be all action or bad experiences for the characters. There is a bit of action and a bad experience or two, but nothing too serious.
Highly recommended to adult paranormal romance fans-adult due to some steamy scenes, and some almost steamy scenes, as well. As always, I enjoyed my time with the Argeneau family.

Single White Vampire by Lynsay Sands is the third book in this exciting series. I cannot stop reading these books! I'm addicted. Hooked onto every word written by this talented writer. I've fallen in love with the male vampire featured in this story. He is a bit of a recluse and old-fashioned. Yet he makes me laugh so hard I can't stop...then, there's his pesky new editor. At first she's a bother to him in more ways than one, but as they continue to help each other, bonds form. They have a connection that both seem to ignore. Until it bites them both hard...choices have to be made and for once they both might just have their chance at a happy love life. It was easy to connect with the characters despite one being a cold snappy vampire. Overall, I recommend this novel to all readers.
I received this copy from the publisher. This is my voluntary review.

all these books are great. she really knows how to tell her stories makes u think they r real and u want to meet one for yourself lol.. in this one he's 612 yrs old.. Luc was a romance author.. the books were really his life stories. his families stories. he started out reading history books since he was there at the time, then went into stories of his family. all true but no one knew that at all. when his editor decided he needed to start doing book signings he refused. what's a girl to do? Kate goes to him to try to talk him into doing the interviews for her. long shot but anything is worth a try. now he has to write his own story lol really cute books.

This installment of the series wasn’t my favorite, but it was still entertaining. In this one, we take stuffy Lucern and throw him at a tenacious editor who will stop at nothing to get him into the publicity circuit. Oh, and the ever-present matchmaking mom helps to push these two at each other in fun ways. If you can get over the stuffiness and the fact that this is a vampire romance about a vampire romance author, this is a solid paranormal read.
Lucern is by far the stuffiest of the brothers and is completely not likeable at the start of this book. He fights against his editor’s suggestions of a publicity tour for his set of vampire romance novels. The letters back and forth were entertaining, but Luc is certainly not a nice guy. Kate is determined to prove herself as a competent editor who can manage the notoriously stubborn Luc. After being brushed off in letter, she hops into a plane to show up at Luc’s doorstep. She befriends his family and gets drafted to be Luc’s date for a wedding where it becomes clear that these two have some chemistry. Sure, that chemistry is hidden behind layers of professionalism and uptight beliefs, but it began there.
These two sort of explode into a relationship despite their attempts at remaining professional. It was nice to watch Luc’s exterior crack and have his whole life turned upside down by Kate. I found myself on Luc’s mom’s team, determined to have Luc acknowledge the needs in his life. There was absolutely not possible outcome other than this HEA, which hopefully leads into Bastien’s story.

Story:
Lucern Argenau writes books: factual books about the (love) life of his family. But of course he can't admit that they aren't works of fiction; that would mean revealing that they are a family of vampires... And so his books are marketed as romantic fantasy novels - much to his chagrin. And they are hugely successful, too!
Not that Lucern would mind that on principle, but it means that his publisher starts nagging him to do autograph sessions and readings and attend conventions - and these are pretty much the last things Lucern wants to do. So he rudely answers each and every letter from his editor with a resounding "No." Kate C. Leever, said editor, is getting desperate and decides to resort to desperate measures: if nothing else will change his mind, she's fully prepared to visit him and convince him in person. And so Lucern ends up in his own personal version of hell: surrounded by a veritable swarm of swooning female fans.
Pros:
This is the third book from the Argenau series that I've read. Lucern and Katie are by far my favorite characters, so far! They seemed well-suited for each other, and the sparks between them were believable. Lucern is an interesting character: he can be incredibly rude and harsh, but he's hiding a kind, soft heart - even from himself. I really liked Katie's co-worker Chris - the poor guy doesn't have it easy with the two love-birds, but he takes it in stride with good-natured patience.
I loved how the author played with reality and fiction in this book: after all, the novels that Lucern writes are real (though of course written by Lynsay Sands). The humorous look into the world of book publishing and book conventions was very interesting to me - I wonder how much of what happens in this book is based on real people and real events! The book accomplished one thing for sure: now I really want to go to a book convention for romance novels!
The writing is easy to read and flows well - I finished the book in no time at all. Several of the scenes and dialogues were wonderfully witty and funny. (Who would've thought that buying condoms could be such an ordeal!)
Cons:
The biggest con for me was the suspense - or lack thereof. While the book was funny and entertaining to read, I quickly started to miss... something. Things were going to smoothly! Where's the villain, or at least the huge conflict? There are a few scenes that are packed with action and where Lucern and Katie are in mortal danger, but there seemed oddly disconnected from the rest of the book and were quickly and neatly resolved. For the rest of the book, the only complication is that the two of them doubt each other's commitment, a very common thing in romance novels.
The sex scenes were a bit too numours for me - but that, of course, is a matter of preference!
What seemed illogical to me: Katie is Lucern's editor, which means that she should know his books extremely well. Once she realized that they are not fiction but accounts of real happenings, she should be a true expert on all things vampire, but she wonders and worries about things that she should already know, like the fact that vampires aren't dead, and that garlic and crosses can't harm them.
The story follows the exact same pattern as the previous two books, just with different main characters. I felt a bit fed-up with it a few times.
Summary:
The book provides pleasant, easy to read entertainment without much depth. If you like your vampires dark and dangerous, this might not be the book for you... If you're looking for a nice love story with nice vampires, on the other hand - give it a try! This is a nice book for the beach (or the sunbed in your garden).

I don't think I've read a funnier book in this series!
Lucern is the artistic one in the family. His latest biographies of his family have been categorized as romance novels and are more popular than ever! He's a loner, doesn't care to be the center of attention, and absolutely hates an aggressive woman.
Kate Leever is the newest editor of Roundhouse Publishing and is tasked with the getting the reclusive Lucern out to an event/interview/or show for his fans. She's everything Lucern doesn't find interesting in a woman, but yet he can't seem to stop his growing respect and like for the woman.
This book is so funny. There were plenty of laughs, and you can't help but love the grunting recluse Lucern.

I tried to like this book I really did. But I really had a hard time liking the M.C., Kate. I just never warmed up to her and her pushy way of doing things. It was just a bit too much for me. Lucern was just okay; neither one of the M.C.'s seemed to cause me to care too deeply about them. The story just never drew me in, something I don't think I've ever said about this Series. So far, this story is on my list as my least favorite of this Series. The story idea was a good one, but the spark was just Missing In Action.

I started reading romances when I was fourteen and I have to say that in three years, I've only found a couple books I like enough to keep. This will be added to my collection since I intend on keeping it and laughing at it more and more. Before I go into how great this book is and how obviously talented the writer is, I'd like to state that I'm using my fathers account and that I am, in fact, a woman. That being said, let's get right to the chase.
The book is about a publishing editor Kate C. Leever and her "adventure" in winning over a vampire romance author who is really a vampire himself, Lucern Argeneau. You feel you really understand the people in the book, because Lynsay Sands wrote the characters to actually resemble humans and a vampire if they were to exist (I'm still holding out hope) and not the usual fluff that most authors write. I did like the fact that it ended how it did (I won't spoil it for you) but was a little bit disappointed that there wasn't an epilogue. I'd have really liked that and hope that, if this book is part of a series, the characters will make a return appearance.
Another thing, I've noticed that in reviews for other books, people complain that a book has too much sex and whatnot. To tell you the truth, I kind of skipped the sex scenes because I was anxious to finish the book but what I can tell you of it, is that I don't think it's "graphic" or over the top. There weren't THAT many sex scenes in the book and believe me, I've read books with more sex then plot. (Hint: Sapphire by Rosemary Rogers) So, I don't really think there was too much or too little, it was overly or too little detailed. I didn't really read it, but even if you don't like sex scenes I'd still recommend anyone with a sense of humor read this book. I know I laughed more times then I can count and for me, that's rare.
So all in all, five stars. Would I recommend to a friend? Yes. Will I buy any other books in the series? Yes. Will I most likely keep this one forever? Yes. I'd totally buy this book and I just know my Mom will love the book as much as I do. Keep the books coming, Lynsay Sands!

I give this one 3.5 stars. This is the third in Lynsay Sands Argeneau Vampire series. Like the previous books, it is a light fast read.
Lucern is a six hundred-year-old vampire who has taken to recounting the love stories of his family members. Those stories end up being published as paranormal romance and are much loved by fans everywhere. But then Luc's editor Kate decides that Luc needs to pay more attention to his fans--perhaps attend a publicity event or two. Sparks fly between the two as Kate attempts to convince the surly man to lighten up. At the same time Luc's allergy to sunlight and unusual sleeping schedule begin to make Kate suspicious that he may in fact be a vampire.
I can't actually claim that this book is laugh-out-loud funny, but it is extremely amusing at times. Luc is a decently written character with both anti-social and very sweet sides. I liked that the plot involved attending a romance convention and commented on romance as a genre a lot--self refrencing humor that worked well.
What I didn't like was that the situational humor seemed forced at times--like the author was trying just a bit too hard. And while the romance was steamy, it was never spectacular or touching. The main flaw though is that the heroine was completely stupid. I realize that her cluelessness was supposed to be part of the comedy, but after awhile it was just annoying.
This series is fairly good light paranormal. I recommend it if you're looking for a laugh.

Single White Vampire by Lynsay Sands is the 3rd book in the Argeneau Vampires series. It is about Kate C. Leever, a book editor, and Lucern Argeneau, a popular romance author and a real life vampire whose books are truly nonfiction works, but are considered romantic fiction. Kate is on a mission to try to get Lucern to be more involved with his fans such as get him to go on book tours, conferences, book signings, etc. After months of refusals by Lucern, Kate shows up uninvited at his home.
Kate is determined to get Lucern to agree to do at least one publicity stint. After several days of having Kate as an unwanted house guest, Lucern reluctantly agrees to do one publicity stint. He really just wants her to go home because his attraction to her is becoming too intense. What he doesn't realize is that he has agreed to go to a romance book conference for Romantic Times magazine. This means go away for 5 days with Kate and trying to hide the fact that he is a vampire from everyone.
This is where things start to really getting more interesting. It doesn't take long for Kate to realize what Lucern really is when he starts to bite people, including herself. His supply of bank blood is slow getting mailed to him so he has to resort to other ways of getting his fix. There are some really funny moments in this book such as when Lucern's costume (codpiece) gets pinned to the table and Kate has to get him unstuck. There is also a really hilarious scene as well where Lucern and Kate's editor friend get mistaken for being gay. I give this story 4 stars. I did notice that Romantic Times gives this story the highest marks a book can get, but I believe them to be a little bias considering that the conference in the book that they are attending is a RT conference. Read it and judge for yourself!
When JR Ward, or other authors with really good Vampire stories are in-between books, I turn to Lynsay Sands. I like the Argeneau series because I like when authors continue building and expanding on the worlds they have created. The think the twist Sands puts on the myth of vampires is particularly interesting about the Argeneau storyline. Having the Vampires descend from an advanced race of humans is creative. The books are quick easy reads, and the characters are interesting enough to keep the pages turning. Although you don't have to read the books in order, I found that some of the stories are more clear if you do. Sands weaves previous storylines and characters into the new books, but not so much that if you missed a book you would be lost. There is always a twist of mystery in the books, which breaks it out of the boy-meets-girl-falls-in-love mold. This is not the best series in the paranormal romance realm, BUT it is entertaining because Sands takes a different perspective on the origin of vampires and how they live their lives.

I picked up a copy of SWV as a quick, light read but I was hooked from the prologue when after reading Lucien's replies to his editor, "Dear Ms. Leever, No."
New editor Kate C. Leever, determined to keep her job, shows up on her writer's doorstep and literally hounds Lucern Argenau, vampire and romance writer extraordinaire, to do a publicity tour for his wildly popular book series. To get rid of her, Lucern reluctantly agrees to do one publicity event and they end up at a romance convention. I loved this sexy, grumpy vampire Lucern with his adorable old World manner. Kate is a powerful little whirlwind who turns Lucern's orderly life upside down.
Sands' vampire world is built upon the premise of nanotechnology as the causation of vampirism I found this to be a unique and clever turn to explain vampirism. This well-written book was very romantic, funny, and clear departure from the horror vampire tradition. These undead vampires eat food as a supplement to their main food supply of blood, sleeps in a bed, loves garlic, attend church, and when covered head to toe, they can go out into the sun.
The sex scenes were sensually tantalizing and the characters were extremely likeable. Usually I prefer much darker vampire romance, but I enjoyed this light-hearted, funny story centered around a family of vampires surviving in the modern world. I am looking forward to reading the rest of Lynsay Sands' Argeneau family series.

Review of Single White Vampire
This is an engaging story of romance you can sink your teeth into. Five-hundred-year-old Lucerne Argeneau is a vampire and he is a writer. He writes romance books and he is in love with his editor, Kate Leever.
Kate tries to convince Lucerne to do some publicity stunts, like a conference. Kate wants Lucerne to do this because she thinks the conference will help him get more attention. Lucerne's mother think Kate and Lucerne make a cute couple. So she invited Kate to Lucerne's sister's wedding. Then Lucerne asked Kate to dance with him and it was his first time holding her close in his arms. Then she just went on a plane and drove a taxi to Lucerne's house.
My opinion is that I liked my book because I saw that it was a vampire book so I grabbed it. The middle was sad because Lucerne got hurt by a person who was waiting in his hotel room. The end of the book is so sweet.
I recommended this to one of my friends. I think she will like this book because it is about romance, vampires, and drama.

All in all, I liked the book. This is the first Argeneau book that I've read. I have, since finishing this one, bought another. So, I can't say that I did not like the book. I will say, however, that there are several plot elements and scenes that I did not like.
The main character, Luc, was strangely likeable, which does say a lot for the chracterization the author was able to create and manipulate. For all acounts, Luc should not be a likeable character.
I also liked the rest of the Argeneau family - especially Luc's mother. She is a well-rounded, loveable character that is totally a Mom.
As for the main female character, Kate, she was hit or miss. At times, it felt like she was used to keep the plot going and she wasn't entirely believeable in her actions. She was, by far, my least favorite character.
Also, during several scenes of this book, I just didn't get the feelings that I think the author was trying to create...so many of the supposed "funny" scenes felt contrived and false. It actually took away from their story.
As for the ending - it was plausible (as much as a vampire love story can be) and was satisfying. As I've said, I've bought one more, because I've read over and over in several book forums that this is a good series. I just hope it gets better.

So you have this eccentric vampire, Luc, who really just wants to be left alone to write his NONFICTION history books and not bother with the telephone, email, mail, or any real human contact. Even his own vampire family can be a bit bothersome at times. It's not like he is really undead--he can go out in the sun, with protective sunscrean; he can eat foods, with a supplement of a lot of blood; he doesn't sleep in a coffin, regardless of the fact there is one in his basement. He can do lot's of normal everyday things. So why is this nut job of an editor, Kate, hounding him. First she writes constantly. Asking for his email, his phone number, his consent to do public book signings. I mean is she nuts? She says his fiction vampire romance books are a hit, but what makes her think they are fiction. The stories of how his parents, brother, and sister met their wife and husbands is absolutely true. And to put the icing on the cake, the woman has actually showed up at his house and brought her luggage. Sheesh! Life will never be the same.
This novel cracked me up! I think you will enjoy it, too.

I liked the idea of a Vampire writing romance Vampire books and could not wait to delve right into the book. It started slow to the point where I put it down and read a Devyn Quinn Vampire romance book, Embracing Midnight, and then returned to reading Single White Vampire. By the middle of the book is where it got more into the romance or should I say...he loves me, he loves me not. If you are looking for sizzling scenes, forget it. You will have to turn to Lara Adrian's Midnight Breed series or Gena Showalter's Lords of the Underworld (even though the latter is not about Vampires but Otherworld and very sizzling.) SWV had some humor to it and a few times I thought quite funny such as Lucern watching Buffy the Vampire Killer on TV and he got upset that she was killing the vampires. What was funny is that he does not watch TV nor owns one and to watch a show involving killing vampires was comical. Will I read Single White Vampire again....no...unlike the other writers' books I mentioned.

If you're looking for a Para-romance/comedy with a great family then you'll enjoy this series: ("A Quick Bite" (read them in this order), "Love Bites", "Single White Vampire", & "Tall, Dark and Hungry"). I did have to remind myself to stop comparing these stories to the more maudlin Vamp books by authors like Christine Feehan or Sherrilyn Kenyon whom have both created such awesome worlds, and whose books are full of action and suspense. When I read a "Vampire" book I'm used to expecting magic and suspense, shape shifting, "Evil" bad guys, etc. But while these stories are just about relationship development, it's a refreshing change. I just love this family! Yes, there was a comical vampire hunter in Love Bites but as far as vampirism; she takes a more comical route, which is fun and different. They preferred bagged blood as opposed to biting (which they considered "out of fashion" unless it was an emergency), which for me did seem to take a bit of the intimacy out of it. But it works, because there's just enough "nibbling" between just the right people. These heroes's were also not very "Alpha" men, as some would expect from this type of book. Greg was a psychologist, Etienne was a video game inventor, Lucern was an author, and Bastien was a businessman. There were only three instances where Greg, Etienne and then Lucern were put in "dangerous" positions where they encountered a vampire hunter (which was more comical than anything else). In "Tall, Dark and Hungry" there was absolutely nothing. But, like I said, these stories are not to be missed, all of the characters were great, and I'm really looking forward to the upcoming secondary characters stories, hopefully Thomas will be next, he's such a "Charmer!"

This is the first book I read from this writer having picked it up from a news stand where I work. I have now read her entire Argeneau Vampires series. Each one gets better than the last.
Being a writer becomes a lot easier when you write from real life. Even if all of the readers think its fiction. That what vampire Lucern argeneau does. That still doesn't stop one's publisher from wanting him to make personal appearances. When Kate finally gets him to attend a romance convention to meet his fans she soon learn the reasons he tries to avoid the public. Now that she knows their destined life mates she just has to figure out if she loves her client enough that she would want to be with him for all eternity.
What makes this book and many more of Lynsay Sands series different from other vampire books is that she doesn't neccessairy needs a vampire hunter or some other type of threat constantly popping up. She makes Vampires living ordinary lives of average people both funny and romantic and well worth the read.

Luc started by writing historical books that have been well received by universities, in which academia applauded his eye for detail as if he were there; which he was. Recently, he has written three "fictional" accounts of romances that are actually biographies of family members.
Last year Luc's long time editor passed away replaced by his assistant Kate Leever. She wants Luc to go on tour, but he ignores her, feeling she will not use him to make her career. However, Kate arrives at his home to push her position in person, believing a tour would push sales to stratospheric levels. However, his traveling phobia has more to do with a certain vampiric condition that makes him need to hide somewhat from the public, though Kate pushes him to attend the RT convention. Soon Luc wants to come out of the vampire closet because he has the craving to write one more happy ending love story starring himself and his editor.
SINGLE WHITE VAMPIRE is an amusing satirical tale that pokes fun at the romance book industry. The story line leaves no book uncovered as it barrels though icons in a humorous manner. The lead couple is a charming duet who finds love in the obvious locale, the annual RT convention. Romance readers and industry insiders will apreciate this tale that ironically spoofs the genre that has brought acclaim to author Lynsay Sands.

Kate C Leever has the impossible task of convincing Lucern Argeneu to participate in his own publicity. The maddening author's one word response "No" to each of her letters makes it a little hard to believe he could be a bestselling romance novelist. Taking the bull by the horns, she journeys to Canada determined to win him over, a little bit anyway.
Lucern is as sexy as his romances. Despite being surly, he blows Kate's mind. Only with his very youthful mother's help does he manage to con him into attending a RT convention, much to his own dismay. Luc is a vampire, and traveling is not something he is thrilled about. Nonetheless, he is a man of his word, and Kate is an attraction as well. Falling for her is a most unexpected complication, for both of them.
***** If this time of year has you feeling a bit down because you're supposed to be happy, but aren't, then read this book, even if you don't like those "weird" books. It will give you genuine laughs as you watch Luc act like a six hundred year old little boy and see him encounter the modern world. His reaction to Buffy alone is worth the book. There is plenty of romance, and a whole new twist on the vampire legend that is thoroughly original. May the Family Argenean Series live long and prosper. *****

Lucern Argeneau is six hundred years old. Having lived through part of the Middle Ages, the Renaissance, the era of the Founding Fathers, civil wars in England and the USA, world wars and the opening night of The King And I, he knows his history - and so ten years ago he started writing accounts of the periods he's lived through. Not as dry and dusty as most history books, they sold really well. And then, as his siblings started to meet the partners of their dreams and, as well as the usual agonies associated with love and marriage, had to deal with the issue of exactly when to tell their loved ones that they are centuries old and drink blood in order to live - that in fact they are vampires - Luc turned to writing their stories as well.
Unfortunately - or fortunately in one respect! - his editor assumed that he'd switched to writing fiction. And his books have been marketed on the romance list. And now Luke Amirault, his pen-name, is a best-seller, and his new editor, Kate Leever, is pestering him to do some publicity. Nothing much. Not too onerous Just a few interviews. A couple of TV appearances. An international book-signing tour.
Luc's responses to Kate's letters are short and to the point.
"Dear Ms Leever,
No."
Knowing that her job depends on getting her elusive author to drop the surly, uncommunicative and downright hostile approach he's taken and become just a bit more grateful to the publishing company which has brought him fame and fortune, Kate turns up unannounced at his house, determined to get him to change his mind.
Panicked - he can't, after all, afford to let Kate find out the truth about him, and she's already getting suspicious on discovering that his siblings and their spouses have the same names and occupations as the characters in his books - Luc agrees to just one interview. The Romantic Times one his mother suggests. But what his mother has omitted to tell him is that the RT event is not an interview - it's a five-day *conference*! In the US, while he lives in Canada!
And so a very hungry vampire - after all, he can't take blood past customs - turns up at a romantic fiction conference. And Luc, despite being babysat by two editors - Kate and her male colleague Chris - finds temptation all around. Imagine what Kate thinks when she returns to their suite to find Luc, to whom she is more than a little attracted, nibbling Chris's neck! Or her thoughts when he swiftly turns his nibbling to her...
What with jewelled codpieces, raids on blood banks, a vampire fancy-dress party and interfering vampire siblings all over the place, this book is a riot. If you never knew that vampire romance could be funny, this is the place to start! And Sands is continuing the series; Etienne and Rachel's story is now available in Love Bites. So what are you waiting for?

Single White Vampire was an excellent novel, so good in fact I stayed up until the early morning hours finishing it. The comedy in this particular book was even more than other of Lynsay Sands' books. Kate was Lucern's very persistent editor, who even implanted herself at his house stating she would leave once he agreed to do some type of promotion for his vampire romances.
This novel also gave an inside look at a Romance convention which I adored as I've never been to one. I can say I have been an idiot in not reading Sands Argeneau series sooner, they have just been waiting in my TBR pile, not any longe

This book was very cute, and worthy of 5 stars because it delivers a funny, romantic, energetic, and modern love story. Although the title may be off-putting to some, this book is thoroughly modern ! The references (i.e. Buffy the Vampire Slayer and all the latest in condom-wear) keep the book from taking itself too seriously, and the result is some very funny scenes involving the two characters. Admittedly, some of the scenes did go on a bit long, but overall it didn't detract from the story. The main character, Lucern is more of an old-fashioned romantic than a vampire, and the vampire references are actually pretty minimal. The story is first and foremost about a romance, and the vampire thing is just secondary in this book. The characters are very funny at times, and very romantic too. I look forward to Etienne and Rachel's story in Love Bites. Recommended!

A funny vampire novel. Is that an oxymoron? Well, if it is, then this book has managed to pull it off. Its an enjoyable, funny and fast read. Lucern Argeneau is a reclusive best selling romance novelist who only writes "fact". He is also a 600 year old vampire who is most certainly not "undead" as Kate Leever, his editor, is about to find out.
Kate is sent to Toronto in Canada to get Lucern to agree to *any* publicity she can get out of him for her company. She finds a horrible, surly, unfriendly man hibernating in his house - what a girl to do in the face of such obstacles if she is to keep her job when she gets home? Kate is one stubborn woman and this is the story of how Lucern and Kate get to know and fall in love with the better sides of each others nature. It also handily sends up both the Vampire and Romance book genres along the way and doesn't take itself too seriously.
For a new, and very funny, take on vampires this is a worthwhile read.

I gave it four stars because of the interesting plot and the great character development. This is a whole new take on the old vampire legend. On top of all of that the author was able to add some genuine humor into the story.

I have never tried a "paranormal romance" book before, so I decided I would give this one a try after a friend of mine recommended. I was not disappointed, but I wasn't "wowed" either.
Basically, Kate Leever is an editor with a publishing firm, and she is trying to get one of her writers, Lucern, who also happens to be a vampire, to do publicity tours and events to increase his books sales. Lucern wants to be left alone, but Kate is very pushy about it. Eventually, with the help of Lucern's mother, Kate manages to get Lucern to a 5 day romantic writers conference. Hilarity and sex ensue.
I think the use of nanotechnology as the causation of vampirism was a fresh take on the subject. However, whenever one tries to reinvent the genre, he/she must have a solid understanding of how they want that. Sands does an excellent job of crafting this new idea with the exception of one aspect. She does not address children. Apparently vampires can have children, but what happens then? Is there some kind of set cut-off for when the child doesn't age anymore, and doesn't that go against the whole nanotechnology idea? I have found that children seem to be the big issue with vampires and other immortal creatures. Most authors just take the easy route and say it's impossible. For those that do try to grapple with this issue, it's very difficult to figure out a plausible solution.
The sex scenes were definitely tantalizing and there were funny scenes. The characters were decently likeable (not that it really matters), but I kind of felt they were both being really stupid. Anybody who has read any form of romance knows that it all follows the same "boy meets girl-boy loses girl-boy and girl are reunited" kind of plot. I just think the "boy loses girl" part was never really that plausible. I think it was kind of forced.
Overall, it's a good read. It's fast, and it'd be perfect for a beach or a plane ride. 3.5 Stars.

Lynsay Sands is Queen of the Sexy Foreverafter Vampire Love Story and Recreational Reading..Love her Vampire Lore and it gets better and more refined with every book in the Argeneau Series. I'm reading them all! I just wish the books showed a bit more character overlap and your chance to enjoy your favorite couples...I think she could go places. I love to read intense historical love stories/sagas and these are the perfect break from those...lighter reading, have all of them on my ereader! I don't get tired of them! Good sense of humor as well!

I LOVED this book!!! It was funny as heck. Everyother line had me laughing out loud. The title of my review is MY FAV line of the entire book. I like the interaction between the Hero and his family members, and her reaction to finding out what he really is. I also liked that he was not an all knowing all seeing powerful kind of vamp. He was more human than any other vamp in a book I have seen. Oh but the sex is still amazing w/him apparantly so its all right. I recommend this book to anyone looking for a good, funny , fantasy read. And even tho I am married, I wouldn't mind meeting a SWV myself lol

I almost quit this book at first because the male narrator was so different than the ladies who read the first two novels, but I stuck with it and am so glad that I did. This has to be one of the funniest books I've listened to- I laughed out loud at parts, which was bad since I was listening at work most times. Though a lot of the credit goes to Lynsay Sands for writing such delightful characters & scenes, Jeffrey Cummings really breathed a comic breath of life into stuffy Lucern Argeneau. From voicing Luc's bellowing, adamant "No!"'s to his almost slapstick befuddlement at common, everyday situations, Jeffrey Cummings fleshed out the character. I look forward to listening to other works by him. And if you like funny, sexy vamp novels, you'll give this book (and this series!) a try.

This book made me laugh out loud several times--in humiliatingly public places--and was also very engaging. Jeffrey Cummings did a fantastic job of reading this novel. His characterization of Lucern was particularly spot on and hilarious; it really added to my enjoyment of the character. This is a great example of how a good audio edition can add so much to a novel. Sadly, the inverse is too often true.

The humor in this book tended primarily toward slapstick, and though it was funny at times, I've read much funnier. Katie MacAlister's Improper English is funnier by a a hundred miles. Some scenes, like the Renaissance Ball, went on too long.
Honestly, much of it was too slow and uninteresting to me. It took me a good while to read it. In fact, I stopped about 1/3 of the way through and read two other books before I made myself get back to it. The second half was better, but it's not one I'll buy or reread. Then again, contemporaries aren't my favorite romances anyway.
Nutshell: okay, a few excellent scenes, not that funny, too long, not engrossing enough. But I'm bumping it up to three stars to account for my possible aversion to contemporary romances.

VERY ROMANTIC AND WELL VERY WELL WRITTEN. THE VAMPIRE IS NOT ANY KIND OF VAMPIRE NOT LIKE YOU NORMALLY READ. I DON'T WANT TO GIVE TO MUCH AWAY BUT THIS IS A NEED TO READ BOOK. MY HEART FELT FOR BOTH OF THEM. I ACTUALLY TINGLED.LOL... BUT GIVE THIS BOOK A SHOT YOU WILL NOT BE DISAPPOINTED.

I really hate romance novels. That being said, I loved this book. I was wandering around a book store and the cover caught my eye. I thought I'd give it a try, and I'm in love with the Argeneaus! The series is just a ton of fun. Funny and sweet and keeps your interest. The vampire back story is a little strange, but if you can put Atlantis aside, you'll love it. Oh, and read this one first. It's not the first in order of occurrence, but it's the first written in the series.

This is not your typical Vampire book. The characters aren't loaded down with expectations of what vampires are or are not. Mostly this book was a great quick read, simple to follow, most importantly...HUMOROUS! The first pages this book made me giggle and the humor was woven throughout! I have read quite a few Vampire books and this was by far the funniest. For a quickie book fix filled with romance, giggles and hoard of modern day Vampires...SWV is your best bet!

I now am actually looking for the other two books of Lynsay Sands called Love Bites, and Tall, Dark, and Hungry. These stories are about a vampire family that lives in Toronto. They have humor, sex, and romance in them. They also tell a little bit about how they became vampires. I wasn't disappointed.

This was a fun filled read but it sort of lagged in the middle when the heroine took her romance writing vampire hero to a Romantic Times convention. There were lots of insider jokes that I semi got because I've subscribed to the RT mag for ages but readers unfamiliar w/ RT might be a little lost. "Tortured, brooding, all-too serious" definitely describes the mainstream books that are out now about vampires. The constant fighting, killing, partying, I'm-so-bored vampires one might read about in Anne Rice or Laurell K Hamilton books is absent in Lynsay's fun read. It's nice to know that with this series, we're going to see a different kind of vampire. I also really liked the fact that Lynsay mentioned two of my favorite shows "Buffy the Vampire Slayer" (which is no longer on the air) and "Angel". I can't wait for the other books to come out.

I've loved all the Argeneau books I've read so far, and was looking forward to this one when I was finally able to afford a copy. I never made it past chapter two. The absurdly annoying female lead kept me from even having any interest in the rest of the characters or any possible story. All I could imagine was chapter after chapter of this annoying character and I couldn't force myself to keep reading even in hope it might get better. I know the author can write much more engaging stories, but after this I think I will spend my money elsewhere.

A lifelong fan of the vampire genre, I picked up a copy of SWV recently (lured in against my better judgment by the New York Times best-seller blurb on the cover). I wasn't looking for much, just a diversionary read. What I got--sorry!--was a frothy pink little cringe-fest from improbable start to lame finish. I have read many Vampire romance stories that are dark in nature, but this story of a modern day Vampire falling in love is wonderful. The story line is not as far reaching as you would think. And our modern day Vampire still maintains a mysterious and romantic nature about him. Since I am a BTVS and ATS fan I loved the references in the book about Buffy and Angel.

I have read now 7 of the Argeneau Novels and as much as I have enjoyed all of them I have to admit that this one made me laugh out loud. Luc and Kate are great together - even though I was wanting Lucern to kick Kate out of the house at the beginning as well! I hope everyone who reads this book enjoys it as much as I did. Have fun!

I have spoken about this on other sites. Ms. Sands, why is this $[...] when it was released in 2003???? As a very loyal fan of yours (I own everything you have written in my permanent library), I have to say the least your publisher could do is charge $4.99 for a book that can be had for $2.00 on [...]. Unbelievable!!! I know you are probably "helpless" due to contractual obligations and I do love the series, but what is next? A re-issue in hardcover? NOTE: The preceding message was rigorously edited by myself in the hopes it gets printed before anyone actually spends money on a book they probably read five years ago!!

I was laughing so hard I scared the kitten. I have not enjoyed a book this much in a while, and I read ALOT. It took me all of 7 1/2 hours to finish. I just could not stop reading it. I don't just recommend this book, I HIGHLY recommend it to anyone!

Talk about funny! Lynsay Sands is a hilarious writer. I enjoyed every crazy moment. She has a way with writing that leaves you laughing out loud and ready for more! I started with this book and now own all three in the series. I am awaiting her new book coming out in November. Watch out- you'll be hooked!

Not the first book in the series, but the first I started with. I got to page 108 and had to stop. I don't feel a connection to the main characters. Plus, I don't feel the main characters themselves connect. Sands is clearly trying to write a paranormal romance (as is the trend these days), but is rushed in doing so. Kate and Lucern have no spark.

if u have read any of the other books in the series this one is just as good. basically the same rythem though so if you were looking for a different story line this is not for u. but if u want the story of kate and lucern and their hot romantic tale all u have to do is open the book.

I really like vampire novels, so I was eager to read "Single White Vampire" -- the title was so clever, I couldn't wait to see the book.
I was disappointed. This book comes out of the romance novel tradition, and while there's nothing wrong with that, it's not my thing. The book wasn't at all what I was expecting: the vampires in this novel eat food, like garlic, go to church, and can go out in the sun as long as they wear long sleeves. In other words, the vampires have been cleaned up for the conventions of the romance novel.
If that's your cup of tea, go for it, but this novel may disappoint those of us whose ideas about vampires come from the horror tradition and not the romance tradition.
For sexy and romantic vampires that DO come more from the horror tradition, try Laurell K. Hamilton.

I loved the premise of this book. And it was an enjoyable read. But the writing style is simplistic and the characters lack depth, in my opinion. So, if you want a fun, fast read, this would do. But if you're looking for more, I'd say keep looking.

Mixing the cliches of romance with the cliches of preternatural stories results in a flat, boring story that has none of the chicklit humour of MaryJanice Davidson or Katie MacAlister. Not worth the time or attention.

I chose my rating because the writing was just that great!!! The story literally took me into it and I felt like I was there in the midst of the action and the love that's portrayed by the characters!!! There's nothing that I would want to change about the story, it was written by a very unique and talented writer that knows how to pull her audience in and allow them to experience the story with the characters in whatever manner is going on!!! 5 stars from me to you Lyndsey!!!!

Lynsay Sands Argeneau novels are always a fun, romantic romp, but when you take a centuries old, reclusive vampire who's recently taken to writing history as romance, pair him up with a pushy, practical lady editor and send them to an annual romance writers conference with a predictably zany supporting cast of writers and fans, the air can't help but be full or romance...and comedy.
A touching, funny look at the romance publishing industry and a must read for Sands fans.

I've read the first 3 books in less than a week. Sometimes accidentally staying up all night just to read "one more chapter" lol. If you are looking for something to read, these books will not disappoint. Time to start book 4 :-)
