Terribly repetitious
...I am getting tired of reading everyone's story over and over again, I think after reading the first in the series we understand the nano vamp, I was looking forward to Marges story, but couldn't wait for this one to end.....so much repeat...ugh!

Really enjoyed this book, empowering suppressed women! Vampires or not women need freedom of expression. With Julius a lovely poignant romantic hero and a range of story-lines intertwined it worked very well. Good stuff!

I was overjoyed when Lynsay Sands released so many new books in a row. I love reading about the Argeneau vampires, and each book makes me love the characters even more. I was even happier when they began putting family trees in the front. It's so much easier to refer to them every once in awhile to find out which vampires are related and how. Then I got this book. I flipped to the family tree as a refresher before reading.

Big Mistake. Doing that completely spoiled the book for me. I speak not of the fact that Marguerite is lifemates with Julius Notte. That was pretty much a given. I'm talking about who Christian's mother is. The family tree reveals the answer that the reader wouldn't normally find out until about half way through; and even when that happens the reader is still slightly confused. I read it, and my jaw dropped as I quickly tried to come up with possibilities. Instead of finding out things along with the characters, as we normally do, I was way ahead, and it sucked.

I honestly liked this story, but it would have been so much better it it had remained unspoiled. We haven't seen much about Marguerite's love life, so it was great to see it now. I also enjoyed the bit with Lucian at the end. It was something I guessed but nonetheless a nice addition to the story.

To sum up, Lynsay Sands: Kudos to the family tree idea, but in this case, you blew it.

The longer storyline from the previous books finally gets resolved in this one! I really didn’t know if I’d like reading the love story for the mother of all the other “kids,” but this one was so jam packed with revelations that I couldn’t put it down!

Marguerite is the meddling mother of many mated kids. Sure, they might complain about her being in their business, but they have all gotten their happily ever after, which left Marguerite without a goal. She dove into becoming a detective with Tiny and gladly accepted her first case. This case, however, took her to Europe where she promptly fell off the radar. What started out as a simple trace of a vampire’s lineage grew to be so much more (and so much more personal) than anticipated.

Julius is the father of the vampire that hired Marguerite. He’s been keeping his boy’s mother a secret for hundreds of years (for good and bad reasons) but it seems now he has to face the truth. This leads him to Marguerite – his lifemate. There are oodles of denial but just as much chemistry at play. These two rapidly grew into a great couple, if they could just get over hundreds of years of baggage. I don’t want to spoil the twists and turns, but they are many and completely unexpected. This was a romance and mystery all wrapped in a smutty, awesome package.

Vampire Interrupted by Lynsay Sands is the 9th book in this exciting series. This time, the nosy matchmaking mom/aunt vampire ends up having her past life told and explored. A former lover finds her. From there it's all mystery, suspense, heat, and conflict. I was hooked. Not as much humor as the previous books. But it was still just as sexy. I loved the female vampire. She is so kind and caring, it was nice to see her suffer with a relationship the same way her kids and nieces and nephews suffered. Payback time! Overall, I love a paranormal romance that sends me spinning fast into its juicy plot.

I received this copy from the publisher. This is my voluntary review.

Marguerite & Julius are probably one of my favorite books I read so far of this series.

After 700 years of being a housewife Marguerite is now out in the world and working on her first case as a private detective.
Well trying to at least.
Trying to find a 500 year old vampires mother is almost impossible. The case would be clean and done if Christian Notte's father Julius would just give his son the answers he seeks.

This book was a bit different from the others for me. There was a bit more mystery surrounding the couple. Trying to figure out why Marguerite didn't remember 20 years of her life and life mate even a son!
But it's not without it's typical Sands humor. I'm glad to see that the series is finally picking back up!

Read from August 08 to 09, 2012

** spoiler alert ** Since the beginning of this series I've always loved Marguarite because she's like super young looking and super old with four children, and she acts like a mother that should be in her 50' or 60's but yet again she looks like she's in her late teens early twenties. But they way she is with her kids and having something to do with every single one of them finding their lifemates was quite comical on its own, and quite canny as well. However, I've always also felt so bad for her because of what Jean Claude had done to her, and knowing he was NOT her lifemate.

Well in this story, she is on the search for Christian Notte's mother in England, this is where she ends up meeting Julius Notte, Christian's father. Though introductions are quite um dramatic since she was woken up having Julius holding Tiny up in the air by his throat, and then throwing him across the room a few times as Tony attacks him. (but here's a little seecret for you... but shhhh it's a SPOILER.... Julius and Magaurite are lifemates.... shhh don't tell anyone ok, so Julius was jealous to see Margaurite in bed with another man. But he didn't realize she was attacked and neither her or Tiny wanted to be in that room, and Tiny wanted to be close to her incase she was attacked again.)

so a little later on and I mean really a little later on like oh probably what would count as 20-30mins in the book, Christian, Marcus, and the others come to the conclusion that Julius and Margaurite are lifemates. How they found out, by the little slip ups of both Julius and Margaurite. So Julius asks his son for some help woo-ing her, or his son offers to help him, I fully can't remember on that part, but either way it doesn't matter. Because Julius decides to travel with them on the search for Christians mother, because he wants to be close to Margaurite.

Margaurite isn't quite sure why Julius is staying close by, but she goes with it, cause Margaurite keeps getting attacked. (poor lady). So throughout the book, they travel to different parts of Europe to search for clues about Christians mother, and in the meantime Julius and Margaurite get to know each other. But neither wants to disclose any information on their ex's. Funny thing though Margaurite then realizes that Julius is her lifemate. But that is only part of what makes this book interesting.

SPOILER DO NOT READ THE NEXT PART IF YOU DON'T WANT TO KNOW THIS VITAL PART OF THE BOOK!!!!!!

What makes this boook interesting, is that Margaurite is Christians mother, that five hundred years ago, Jean Claude had presumed to be dead, and Margaurite a widow. She had met Julius back then and obviously being lifemates found each other, and fell in love, and got married and concieved a child together. BUT! right before she had given birth, someone had took control over Margaurites mind and made her give birth and had her order his son death by the maid, and then made it look like Margaurite killed the maid for disobeying. Then wiped all her memories, and placed different ones in, and then the fact that Jean Claude was not dead, and had came back for Margaurite. Thus making the rest of his life miserable for her. But at least she had gotten four children out of it that she loves more than life. Well of course Margaurite doesn't remember any of this, but Julius has proof, he has a potrait of her in his study at his home in Italy. So of course then they fly to italy, one to show her this proof and two to hopefully keep her safe from the attackers.

Once there she ends up meeting his family (again) mom and dad aren't too thrilled but Aunt Vita, she seems to be happy about it. Vita catches Margaurite in Julius's office and gives her a little chit chat about how sad he was when she left, and that how pleased she is that he will be happy again.

Then one night Margaurite and Christian go out and have some Mother & son bonding time, to get to know each other. They end up being attacked on their outing and kidnapped. They are placed in some kind of dungeon, both injured and low on blood, UH OH! Back at the house Julius is frantic with worry about his love and son. This is where the Argenau's come in. At once Julius tries to attack Lucian because he thinks that Margaurites memories which has to be done by a 3 on 1 memory swipe meaning 3 vampires on one vampire or mortal to erase their memories, very dangerous and powerful juju.

Come to find out that it wasn't Lucian who was involved in it, nor was it Martine, Jean Claudes sister. But that it was Jean Claudes best friend, and Julius's own sister who did it. This was found out by Julius's father Niccodemus Notte telling him how things were when he was a baby and why he was all under guarded protection.

Meanwhile back at the dugeon plae, Vita shows herself to Margaurite and Christian, and explains why she has done this, and the attacks on Magaurite, and proceeds to tell them that she is the one who was part of the 3 on 1, and that Jean Claude was indeed never dead, but was in hiding because he had found his lifemate and had turned her, and since he had turned Margaurite it was a big no-no for him to turn his lifemate. But Vita had plans for Jean Claude so he had killed his lifemate and his unborn child. And used Jean Claude to wipe Margaurites memories and have her son killed. And Vita killed the maid. Which explained why Jean Claude was such a monster, though it didn't excuse the treatment he gave to Marguarite. Vita was jealous of Julius, Julius was the baby and the only boy. And he was treated like a god where she was just treated like a woman, and it pissed her off. He was just so happy with life in general that it drove her mad. So she wanted him punished and used the ones he loved to do it. But this time she wants to end it all, Margaurite, Christian, and Julius's lives. But her plan didn't work out she was caught and sent before the council and executed.

Everyone eventually went back to Canada to wherre Lissandra had her babygirl. And Margaurite had finally gotten her Happily Ever after.

Marguerite Argeneau is now trying to find her own life after a dismal 500 year long marriage. She has raised her four children and helped them find lifemate and now she wants her own adventure. At Christian Notte's request she decides to try her hand at becoming a private investigator. Christian is on a mission to uncover what has happened to his mother. He has tried asking his father Julius but all he will say is she is dead. What Christian does not know is that his father keeps secrets because he wants to protect Christian from the truth; but Christian's quest will cause Julius and Marguerite to come face to face and the secrets Julius has tried so hard to keep hidden will come to light.

This is my favorite book so far in the series. The plot is much more complicated than previous books. Marguerite has always been this meddlesome woman in her efforts to see her children happy, the story really uncovers why she has been so insistent that her children find true love. Christian is also quite the interesting character and I cannot wait to see what happens to him in upcoming books. The mystery in this story was also quite good, I really enjoyed all of the twists and turns it kept me guessing. The love affair between Marguerite and Julius was a different type of attraction it felt more like an old glove while it was still passionate it just felt different but in a good way.

4 ½ stars

VAMPIRE INTERRUPTED

I didn't care for the last two Sand's books and hence my last two reviews on these series have been negative. I was hard pressed to pick up another Argeneau novel as they were starting to get monotonous and rather stereotyped. The rave reviews here made me give it a try. And for which I am so glad!!!! This is by far the best Argeneau novel in the series! In VAMPIRES ARE FOREVER - Sands set up a series of events that were terribly confusing but now, after reading VAMPIRE INTERRUPTED make sense.

VAMPIRE INTERRUPTED takes up right where VAMPIRES ARE FOREVER finishes and is told from Marguerite Argeneau's perspective. Having raised four children - and successfully found lifemates for all of them - and most of the Argeneau clan - Marguerite decided to take on a new career and try out her sleuth skills as a private detective. She is hired by Christian Notte - an immortal searching for his mother. Christian's father - Julius Notte will not tell is son who his mother is. To him she is dead - and that is the end of it.

Julius and Marguerite have met before - though she doesn't recall. He's also met Jean Claude Argeneau - Margeuerite's now deceased husband. Marguerite's marriage to Jean Claude was a living nightmare, something she doesn't discuss and above all is not going to repeat. However - Marguerite feels drawn to Julius - even as she lacks trust in him due to the fact that she is surprised that being Christian's father, he will not reveal to his own son who his mother was.

Marguerite's past contains answers to some of the weird events taking place - as all traipse to York in England - with hopes that the city will reveal some of the answers everyone is looking for.

Not as humorous as her previous books, VAMPIRE INTERRUPTED carries a more serious overtone. The attraction between Julius and Marguerite is palpable, yet there is obviously more to it than meets the eye. Both ancient immortals that have met in the past.

The plot was very inventive, well written and kept me on my toes - wanting to find out who the villain was and who in the end was Christian's mother. Even the title was very ingenious!

I do, however have to agree - with most reviewers here - that the editing was lousy!! The book is liberally sprinkled with error after error! Lynsay Sands needs to get new editors for sure. It ALMOST ruined such a fabulous book - ALMOST! Please try to overlook that and read this great novel - perfect plot telling Marguerite Argeneau's story. Lynsay redeemed herself with this one!!

This is the conclusion to the Margurite Argeneau story line started in Vampires are Forever. In the process of solving her first case as a private detective and discovering the identity of Christian Notte's mother, Margurite finds love and a long buried part of her past.
This is another great story in the Argeneau vampire series, but it's more detective mystery and romance than bats and blood sucking monsters. I love the series and this story was just one more reason why.

Bite to Remember(5), Bite me if you can(6), Vampires are forever(8) and Vampire Interrupted(9) These stories are closely related and even overlap. It's best to read these in order at this point and try not to go all over the place like I did and trying to think back and piece things together. I was so happy to finally have Marguerite's story and it was everything I was hoping it to be. The story moved rather quickly and there was so much going on I couldn't put the book down. We were first introduced to Christian and the Notte clan in a Bite to Remember. Christian was a huge part of this book and I loved getting to know him more and I loved having that window into Margerites past. She is always such a huge force in the past books, kind of nosing her way into her kids lifes and helping with their lifemates, but she does it with such love. After her life with Jean Claude, I was happy to see things finally go right for her. We also get a close look into why Jean Claude was the way he was. We were able to see a vulnerable side to Marguerite, usually she is so in control in the past books that it made her character seem more alive. I loved Julius and his struggles with the past and in protecting his son Christian. I couldn't have asked for a better Hero. This is one of my favorite books in this series. The only thing that bothered me was a conversation that was mentioned twice. In the begining Julius was trying to bond with Marguerite and was talking about Christian playing Violin in a rock band. He brought it up again towards the end of the book when Marguerite was trying to find a way to bond with Christian, Julius brought it up again like he didn't already tell her. I was a little confused, because I remembered the conversation. It didn't take away from the book though, just gave me a moment of confusuion

In the last two books of the series we've been made aware that Marguerite has gone missing in London and her family can't find her. Now in Vampire Interrupted we find out what she has been doing and who is keeping her from her family. Full of surprises from the past this installment finally gives the matriarch of the Argeneau clan her turn at love. Readers will cheer for Marguerite as we learn more about her past with Jean Claude and the terrible things he did out of greed and anger as his 500 year old secret comes to light. I love this series!

After all this time we finally see match maker Marguerite find a mate. We also meet several new sexy Italians. Sands drags her readers into another amazing book. Its packed with many of the previous characters and a load of new characters.

This story is heart breaking in some aspects and tragic. Then you find family and friends to reunite into the happily ever after Marguerite deserves. It has a shocking villain, sexy Argeneau and Notte men, great romance, comedy, thrills, drama, a sexy mortal detective, and hot life mate sex.

This is a top of the line Argeneau novel and what else would you expect from Sands. We love the mystery of the dog's name is solved and all the history that is revealed. Again we see another side to the amazing Lucian and find things we never new about this amazing family. We just love it and its a must read for all.

With Vampire Interrupted Sands wraps up a great Argeneau vampire romance in a much deeper and complicated plot than usual and includes several twists that end up making this a fresh addition to her long running series.

Finally it is Argeneau matriarch Marguerite's turn to find her lifemate after playing matchmaker to all of her extended family in the previous books. Knowing of Marguerite's hellish 500 year marriage to a vamp who was not her lifemate, it is not surprising that Marguerite is a bit cautious when she first begins feeling the heated pull to gorgeous Julius Notte. Julius doesn't seem to feel the same reluctance to persue Marguerite as a lifemate even though he has lost a lifemate in the past, a relationship he refuses to discuss. It is actually this lack of disclosure that fuels his son Christian's search for information on the mother he never knew, and it is that search that brings Julius and Marguerite together as the case to uncover the truth is Marguerite's first in her new career as PI. But even as Julius promises not to hinder Marguerite progress, there is a mysterious assassin that keeps trying to take Marguerite out of the picture permanently. Determined not to suffer the anguish of loosing a lifemate again, Julius will do everything in his power to keep Marguerite safe, but will he reveal the painful secrets that have been hidden for centuries?

Without revealing any of the surprises, a nice thing about the romance between Marguerite and Julius is that both characters are presented as more mature than the leads in Sands previous romances -- even though Marguerite's son Lucerne is in reality only a hundred years younger. And because Marguerite and Julius are older characters, both have major past relationship issues that they have to overcome to be together. For Julius part of his past to overcome is that his loss changed him into a darker, more serious and grumpier person, so in the book it is fun watching him get hints from his son and a quirkly mortal on how to court a woman again after being alone for so long. Marguerite's martial nightmare makes her more cautious with Julius, but having known such unhappiness, it also makes her more suseptible to the lure of a happily ever after even though that sounds like a contradiction.

I liked Vampire Interrupted and it works fine as a standalone read, but it is original enough that you will still enjoy it even if you thought you were getting tired of the Argenaus. And if you can't get enough of them, Sands does a nice family reunion at the end of Vampire Interrupted bringing all the pairs together at Lissiana's child's christening. Sands has started including a Argenau family tree in the front of her books, so hmm, who's next? (Unless you have the ARC version of this book, heed the other reviewers' warnings and don't check out family tree until after you've read the book.)

The rest of the books in Lynsay Sands Argenau series:
A Quick Bite ( Book 1)
Love Bites (Argeneau Vampires, Book 2)
Single White Vampire (Argeneau Vampires, Book 3)
Tall, Dark & Hungry (Argeneau Vampires, Book 4)
A Bite to Remember (Argeneau Vampires, Book 5)
Bite Me If You Can (Argeneau Vampires, Book 6)
The Accidental Vampire (Argeneau Vampires, Book 7)
Vampires Are Forever (Argeneau Vampires, Book 8)

If you are looking for a new vamp series that has a similar 'bite', bag-feeding vamps and a bit of humour mixed in with the romance, you might want to give Kerrilyn Sparks Love at Stake series a try:
How To Marry a Millionaire Vampire (Love at Stake, Book 1)
Vamps and the City (Love at Stake, Book 2) (This is my favorite)
Be Still My Vampire Heart (Love at Stake, Book 3)
Sugarplums and Scandal (Contains a connected short)

We have all enjoyed seeing Marguerite's matchmaking abilities being used on her children, but the tables have turned. It is now Marguerite's turn to finally find her one true love.

This installment in the argeneau series is one of the best yet. Marguerite's story is even more complicated and full of twists and turns that will keep readers on their toes. I really liked getting to know more about Marguerite's history and herself in general in this book. She really is a great mom and wonderful woman.

Her suitor Julius is handsome and though a bit overbearing at times is a good man that is definetely a great match for Margurite. I did however want to smack him a couple of times for his idiocy in some area's, but he did redeem himself because of his caring and sweethearted nature towards Margeurite.

These two were portrayed as much more mature characters in some areas than the argeneau children, but in my opinion were a little immature at certain points. I really loved these character's and hope to see more from this author soon.

Marguerite Argeneau, the mettlesome mother of Lucern, Bastien, Etienne, and Lissiana, finally gets her story told. 'Vampire, Interrupted' was a book all fans of the Argeneau's had waited for, and a book many feared would end the series. Luckily the ending puts your fears to rest. There are a great many more stories to be told and Marguerite and her mettling will remain a part of those story lines.
'Vampire, Interrupted'was very unexpected, I had no idea what Lynsay Sands was going to do for her story, but never would I have thought of this! Julius Notte is PERFECT for Marguerite!!! I loved the story line, it kept me at the edge of my seat for the entire book. Admittedly, yes, there were some editing mistakes, but I honestly don't believe that they take away from the book. This is now officially one of my favorite books of all time!!!
I recommend this book to all readers of the Argeneau series, all fans of Lynsay Sands, and any vampire romance fanatics.
The next book in the series is 'The Rogue Hunter', and I can't wait for it to come out!

Though Marguerite is beloved by her entire family, it appears that not everyone holds her in equal affection; someone is determined to remove her pretty, seven hundred year old head from her shoulders. Just as her life has taken this dangerous and deadly turn, she meets Julius, another Immortal who gets into her heart like no man ever has, including her late husband. Could he be her lifemate, after all this time? Has he found her just in time to lose her to another's desire for revenge, and what secrets will be revealed as he enters Marguerite's life?

***** Humor, romance, mystery, and delightful plot twists make this one of the strongest Argeneau books yet. Marguerite is a mature heroine, yet still innocent in a way, and not at all worn out or angsty. The complexity of her situation might boggle the mind, but after being a supporting character for so many novels, it's time she got her own, very meaty story. I just hope there is more to come. *****

"Vampire Interrupted" carries on directly after the previous book, "Vampires Are Forever", and in fact some of the events in this book relate to those in the previous. "Vampires Are Forever" featured Thomas Argeneau who had been sent to look for his aunt Marguerite who has gone missing whilst working as a detective and trying to find the mother of Christian Notte who had hired her. In "Vampire Interrupted" we see events from Marguerite's point of view as she travels to England and from London to York in search of the story of Christian's past.

This reader had felt that the Argeneau series was getting a little tired and formulaic with the books basically rehashing the same plot devices (woman is turned into vampire by Argeneau man, has to learn to live with the new life, decides she loves the hero). "Vampire Interrupted" is a rather different book and this is a great mark in its favour. For once both hero and heroine are already vampires, are in fact old vampires with children and long histories. In this story Marguerite finds herself under attack from a mystery assailant as she, along with mortal private detective Tiny, tries to follow historical clues to Christian Notte's origins. She knows already that Christian's father Julius won't tell him about his mother, instead Julius has managed to frighten off every previous detective from the hunt, and sure enough Julius appears on the scene in London. Yet things are rather different and he doesn't try to prevent Marguerite and Tiny's searching, instead he goes with them as they travel to York to try to find out more.

It soon becomes clear that events in Marguerite's past may contain the answer to some of her questions as well as causing her to mistrust Julius when she finds herself drawn to him. There are some unexpected plot directions in this book that worked really well, even the 'baddie' was a surprise and yet very plausible. The story of two older people trying to put aside their cumulative life experiences to learn to trust each other was very well written and the conclusion was wrapped up nicely. This is definitely one of the better stories in this series and undoubtedly will appeal to Lynsay Sands' fans.

After seven hundred years of life, Marguerite Argeneau has finally started a new career. She's training to be a private investigator, and her first assignment is to find an immortal's mother. It seemed simple enough, until Marguerite wakes up one evening to find herself at the wrong end of a sword. Now she realizes she's in way over her head.

After that terrifying moment, Julius Notte, her client's father, shows up to protect Marguerite. What she doesn't realize is that Julius is her lifemate, and he's determined to woo her. It's been over five hundred years since Julius has courted a woman, but he's going to give it his best shot!

Little does Marguerite realize that she's met Julius before! She just has no memory of their meeting or anything else that happened with him. All Marguerite knows is that she's named every dog she's had "Julius." That has to mean something, right?

The plot thickens when Marguerite is being chased and attacked in numerous different ways and no one knows why. The only reason that comes to anyone's mind is that someone doesn't want her to find out who her client, Christian's birth mother is. While Marguerite is fighting off attackers, her sons and nephews are searching for her. Julius and her partner, Tiny, have her so well hidden not many people can find her, which really makes you wonder how her attackers do!

This was one of the best of the Argeneau series! I always wanted to know if the matchmaker found her match and now I don't have to wonder anymore! I just hope the series doesn't end as this is by far THE best vampire series I've ever read. It kept me on the edge of my seat trying to figure out who was attacking and who Christian's mother is. The tension between Julius and Marguerite, along with the past that one of them doesn't remember, keeps you on your toes and hoping everything works out for them in the end.

I don't want to say anymore or I'll end up giving away the ending.

Armchair Interviews says: If you love paranormal romances, you definitely need to pick this one up!

Marguerite is one of the most fascinating characters in the entire series. You can't help but love her and her antics. Her story took twists and turns you didn't expect. With all her matchmaking, I'm glad she found love too.

9/6 - The only other Argeneau book I've read is #3 Single, White Vampire which was really funny. I didn't find Vampire, Interrupted to be nearly as good. I don't really understand how vampire aging works in this series, but seeing as Marguerite was turned at 15 does her aging stop there? But then how does the aging of her children work? If she has continued to age, does she now look old (60+)? None of it really works or fits together properly for me and that irritated me throughout the reading of the book. I didn't think the romance scenes were as good as her previous book that I've read, they were all too abbreviated for what I'm used to.

After centuries as a vampiric mother, aunt and socialite, Marguerite Argeneau decides she needs a vocation. To the chagrin of her sons Etienne and Bastien and her nephew Thomas, Marguerite decides to become a private investigator. The trio feels good that her partner is Tiny who will keep the family matriarch safe.

Her first client is immortal Christian Notte who wants to know who his mother is; his father Julius refuses to divulge her name to him. When she vanishes in Europe, Thomas and his lifemate Inez search for her (see VAMPIRES ARE FOREVER). Meanwhile someone apparently wants Marguerite dead; Julius decides to protect her from whoever wanted to decapitate her although at times he wonders who will protect him from her. However, Marguerite is irate not so much that Julius plays the role of bodyguard, but that he is her lifemate while he needs to persuade her that they belong together forever.

This terrific Argeneau vampiric romantic suspense was set up in the previous tale, VAMPIRES ARE FOREVER, but stands alone. The fun with the entry actually is with Julius who knows his lifemate is obviously in danger, but not sure why; and knows he is in deeper trouble as he hopes courting is like getting back on a bicycle as he has not chased a skirt in five or so centuries. Fans will enjoy the escapades of a thoroughly modern Marguerite, vampiric investigator.

This is not a stand alone book. It's part of the Argeneau Vampire series. You will need to read some of the other books to get an idea of the series. This book expects that you do know some of the background. It's one of the better of the recent books. I was a little afraid that Lynsay Sands was losing her touch, but she's regained it with this one. The last couple books were following a set pattern and this one breaks it. I think that the twists in this book do work and don't seem very contrived. However the end wraps up pretty quick and there's not much of a preview of what's to come. The interaction between all the minor characters and the mystery is what makes this book not the romance or the chemistry between the two leads. I would recommend this book to anyone that is into the series.

Lynsay Sands's Argeneau series is one of my favorites. Unlike other series (by other authors) in which the writing seems to become forced, the storylines repetitive, or the multi-book story arc so tangled and confusing that you can't figure out what's going on, the quality of the Argeneau novels--the writing and the storylines--have been consistently great throughout the series.

_Vampire, Interruped_, is the story of Marguerite, the Argeneau matriarch. It has all the hallmarks of a Lynsay Sands novel--it's funny, exciting, sexy, and has a good mystery to spin the tale around. Well worth reading.

However, there are a couple problems that are more the fault of her editors than the author:

1- As mentioned in a previous review, the family tree in the front of the book spoils one of the larger plot points of the story. (NOTE: The previous review also contains the actual spoiler within the review--fair warning if you're reading these before buying the book.) I'd gently suggest to the editors at Avon that if family relationships are part of the plot, don't disclose that relationship information in the front matter of the book!

2- Overall, the editing is good (the copyediting, not so much), but there are a couple things that pinged my attention--one involving the disposition of Tiny's cell cellphone and the other concerning Christian's musical performances. In both instances, these are things that should have been caught during the editing process and weren't.

Bottom line: Classic Lynsay Sands and a great addition to the Argeneau series. A definite must read, but DON'T read the family tree in the front of the book first.

There's action right away, as well as some humor too. Now, that's quite a mix and bodes well for the rest of the book. And it continued on and made for a great book. You want surprises? Well hang on to your hat, there are twists and surprises to keep the reader happy. And the surprises? They are Doozies. But they also really work. I wanted to read Marguerite's story and I wasn't disappointed.

This was, I think, the concluding chapter to the Argeneau family storyline. While the author left room at the end for another story it would be a nice change to read something slightly different from Sands. In any case, this is the story of Marguerite, the family matriarch; we learn all about her history with her (dead) husband Jean-Claude and how her life as a vampire came to be. Finally, is the best way to describe the feeling you get after reading this story - in all of the other books we've had a glimpse of Marguerite and her story but it's fully developed here. Marguerite is involved with a detective agency and is helping Christian Notte to find his birth mother. She is working alongside her mortal friend, Tiny, and traveling through Europe seeking answers for Christian. Along the way her attempts to get information are thwarted by attacks upon her body, and even Julian Notte, Christian's father steps in to stop her search. The story has a lot of nice surprises, and concludes really well. I definitely enjoyed the book, but I didn't think it had the trademark humor and 'lightness' that most of Sands' books do. Definitely finish off the series by reading this.

Vampire, Interrupted is about what happened to Marguerite and why she disappeared during her first investigation job, also who was after Thomas and Inez in the previous book and why someone seemed to prevent Thomas and Inez to find Marguerite.

There were some things that really took me by surprise in this book and even when I thought I had it all figured out, I found out I was completely wrong about most things.

I was glad to see Tiny again in this book, he is a sweet guy. I really hope that in one of the next books he'll turn out to be someone's lifemate!

Loved it! These books never disappoint me.
In this edition we learn what has happened to Marguerite while in Europe which has her North American family searching for her. She had lived 700 yrs under Jena Claude's cruelty and now is free to do as she wishes. She finds being a private eye not all that easy as she and Tiny search for Christian's birth mother. Christian's dad Julius comes on the scene after some one has tried to behead Marguerite. What transpires is very interesting and fills us in on Marguerite's back story.
Looking forward to book 10!

I totally agree with the reviewer who said the family tree in the front of the book spoiled the surprise of who Christain's mother is. I had the same problem. Otherwise, I enjoyed the book. I liked being able to read the story knowing that the time line was repeating from the previous novel (A Vampires are Forever) with Thomas and Inez. Reading about the purse being stolen and why she hadn't called the family for several days was cool.

It was also nice to know that Marguerite finds her mate after helping so many others find theirs. A bit sappy at the end, but still a fun read. I'm kind'a hoping Tiny gets someone, too. He's really funny.

I'm hearing rumblings that this may be the last book in this fantastic series. Given the fact that I have rated all the Argeneau books with five stars, and I have the entire series on my "Keeper" shelf, I felt I had to lodge a formal plea...MORE MORE MORE.
As to the issue of bad edits..sigh. As a former editor, I read books with a critical eye, but also a large dose of understanding. I agree that the last three books have had some major errors, but I look at the books as individual works and I can't find any reason not to give each a five star rating. Lynsay Sands deserves all the kudos that come her way.
I can't recommend this entire series highly enough. If you want a good read, if you love the genre, this series is a MUST HAVE!
(Disclaimer) Any errors in the above posting (punctuation, spelling, etc..) are unintentional. Editors are sensitive to boo boo's too!

Marguerite has lived a life of misery with the exception of her children. On her first case as a PI attempts on her life start, not to mention the sexy Julius enters her life. Or reenters as it turns out. In the search for Christian's biological mother, Marguerite believes she has finally met her life mate, but secrets keep unfolding before her. Sands did an excellent job in the mystery of this story line, and in keeping me laughing along with routing for Julius.

The story itself is solid enough. I've read this series since the beginning, and I really like the Argeneaus. Sometimes the bringing back of old characters from past books is a little cutesy and a little forced, but I can handle it. I enjoyed reading Marguerite's story, and getting to know her as more than the meddling mom she's been in all the other novels.

That said, Lynsay Sands needs new editors. Either that, or they rushed these last three books so much to pull off the "book a month for three months" stunt that they didn't pay attention to the copyediting. I'm used to finding typos in novels. It's definitely a lot more common than it used to be - are editors lazier than they used to be? But this was one of the sloppiest books I've ever seen. I've read fanfiction by 15 year olds that was formatted better. Misused homonyms are bad enough (this is the second book of the three that thinks a "broach" is a piece of jewelry), but quotation marks are arbitrarily sprinkled in weird places. Once I'd consider a forgivable mistake, but this was THROUGHOUT the book. For example, from page 325:

"We've been staying there the last couple of days. When Thomas came looking for Aunt Marguerite, he and Inez found out that a townhouse was rented under the name Notte in York. "He shrugged, we thought it was Christian.

Can anyone spot the style mistakes in that paragraph?

One more word for Sands' editors. If a novel is about a search for the identity of a character's mother, you might not want to put that information in the Argeneau family tree, that appears in the front of the book before everything else. Kind of spoils the plot.

I just started this series and I have devoured these books from the very first one! I love these characters. I couldn't wait to read about the mother of the clan and I was not disappointed and there were some surprises thrown in too. I loved Lynsay before she started writing about vampires and she has only made me love her books even more. The whole clan is amazing. I read this book in one day....it is that GOOD!

This is the best in the Argeneau Series! After seeing all her children happily settled with their lifemates Marguerite decides to try something new, a career as a PI! She is working on a case where she is hunting down info about another immortals mother. Julius Notte has protected his son from the truth about his mother for over 500 hundred years and journeys to England after hearing about Marguerite. To almost everyone's surprise Julius is Marguerites Lifemate, but this story has more twists to it than just that. This is not the first time Julius and Marguerite have met, much to everyone's surprise especially Marguerite's! These two must face a past that comes back to try and divide them once again. Will they survive a 2nd chance at love? Read and find out!

Out of 9 books, this one has the greatest plot. Ms. Sands rocks this story. Whatever I expected while reading it, it was better. So, grab a copy and read a love story of Marguerite Argeneau, which will take across 500 hundred years with mysteries uncovered.
This is one of the finest books in a series, in my opinion. Can't wait for the next one.

I've come to love the way Ms. Sands writes her novels. Her novels are very witty, charming and it was nice to finally see Marguerite happy.

In Vampire Interrupted we are finally given the story of Marguerite Argeneau the matriarch of the Argeneau line. Training to become a private investigator Marguerite's first case (finding the birth mother of immortal Christan Notte) takes a turn for the worst, when a killer in black suddenly appears his eyes set on Marguerite or at least her neck.

Luckily for our heroine Julius Notte is there to protect her... too bad for her she can't decide whether she should kiss or strangle him.

This novel is full of plot twist and character insights. I loved it and read it in one night unable to tear myself away from it. unfortunately as a couple of others have previously mentioned it is also full of grammatical errors and one hell of a spoiler.

This was the first book of the series I read. I picked this book by accident and instead of going back to return it I decided to read. I must say that I have never been a fan of romance or vampire novels. I find them to be boring and seriously overrated and lacking imagination.
I was definately surprised when I read this book. It had an eye catching theme to it that is absent in most vampire novels. I liked this book so much that I actually collected the whole series. The author definately did good work and I enjoy reading this series.

Good book but what happened to the promise romance between her and Jean
Claude? All the other books written by Lucern(You will find the titles listed in single white vampire) actually happend but now for some reason Jean Claudes isn't told and she seems to be done with his families stories.
Not right we learned more about Marguerite in every book about her being a loving meddling mother while the theme for Jean Claude is he controled her, he really was a twisted bastard in the end, he wasn't worth loving. Hello if you were going to make him a second villain at least lets hear his side of it! Instead we learn a tiny bit about his life in vampire interrupted making him seem an even bigger villian! Enough about hearing it in third person it was promised to us when Kate asked Margurite her husband name and was corrected on the pronunciation. If Lucern wrote it along with the other two why haven't we been able to read
it yet? Because it doesn't end happily? Perhaps but we all know not all
romances end happily. Because her publisher isn't interested in this story most likely but if so she should tell her loyal readers instead of forgetting she implied it was coming in the first place. As for Vampires
going rogue because they lack lifemates it sounded to me like Morgan was
headed that way even before he lost his thanks to what was reveiled in this book. Yes he might have viewed it as just helping a friend but it wasn't the right thing to do and he must have known it on some level. While I enjoyed the book I truly hated the fact that it now seems we will never see the book of Jean Claudes and Marguerite's life together. Or expeierance Atlantis falling by hearing about one of the two characthers who actually lived through it instead of hearing summarizied like history all boring factial instead of alive and living it in excitiing detail. Happily ever after gets boring after a while thats why there are so many differant kind of books. And it would be more true to life to have one end sadly. We all know people mistakenly marry
for wealth, etc thinking they will be happy and finding out they were wrong later on. Jean Claudes Mistake seeing Marguerite looked alike his dead wife was reasonable is anyone besides me curious what his real lifemate looked like? Or does noone else care thanks to how he was percieved thanks to the words of his wife and children? Authors please do not imply a book is coming unless you can actually guarentte it I am
sick of hearing about books that are coming up in the series and having no shows or having to wait years for them searching for the title carefully to almost miss it when it finally is release because I almost
gave up. I have stopped rereading series I loved thanks to the last book implying there's more ahead yet there is no book after that it is very frustating! I choose what books I buy very carefully, and I tend not to buy series cause I'm running out of room on my bookshelves but If I decide on a series I want all of it so I can have the fun of reading through again and again. I hate broken promises.

The story itself was pretty good but I thought the execution of it was deeply flawed. At least twice I found continuity issues (e.g., character wishing she'd had more time to explore such-n-such city last time they were there instead of three days buried in archive research, yet roughly 100 pages later it's being pounded into the read that she's never been to that city).

There seemed to be a lot of repetitiveness as well. It bothered me that near the beginning of the book the two main characters chatted all night in a coffee shop with him telling her all about his son's progression to becoming involved with a hard rock band, then near the end of the book they have very nearly the same conversation with him being very uncertain about what to even call the type of music his son was currently involved with... and her acting as if it were all brand new information to her even though the previous conversation happened no more than a week or so in the timeline of the book!

There were a few lines that kept repeating, too, as if the author felt the need to pound a certain idea into the reader's head (or just make word count) that I found extremely annoying.

All in all, I enjoyed the actual story but I do feel it could have been better written (or, you know, edited at all) without losing any of the magic.

I picked up this book because it had an interesting cover although the girl in a wedding dress is deceptive since no one got married. Also the mystery was spoiled because the family tree at the first page of the book spoiled it all, perhaps they should put the tree in the back. That said, I found this to be more of a mystery book (albeit a good one) than a romance novel (which was what I was looking for). This is my first book in the series but I don't understand why Marguarite needs an entourage everywhere she goes. She is supposed to be an old and powerful vampire but what's with the crowd of bodyguards??? It takes the story away from the 3 main characters: Marguarite, Christian, and Julius. I know that people love to read up on old characters from the other novels but it gets really tiring to read that Marguarite, Christian, Julius, Tiny, Marcus, the twins, the other kids, etc....all going to a this place and that place together all the time. When you write a book about someone, FOCUS ON THAT CHARACTER. It also dragged a bit in the middle. I am now interested in reading the rest of the series but the cartoony book covers are a bit of a turn off. I wish I can love this book more since it definitely had an interesting plot but Lynsay Sands needs to proofread and brush up on her writing skills.

I liked this book very much. I bought "Vampires are Forever" first and then realized this was a series. I liked this one alot but not as much as the first one. The plot was a little thin in this one, not as much of a thriller. The loves scenes were not as good as in "Vampires are Forever". But all in all in was a good book. I started with book #8 and have now read #9 (this book), so I have purchased 1-7 in the series now. I liked it enough to purchase the whole series.

I thought this was a good story. It started a little slow but when it picked up it stayed up. There were some editing problems that stood out as mentioned in earlier reviews but didn't cause that much confusion or hurt the story much. This is the only book I've read of the series but I intend on starting from the beginning.

Vampire, Interrupted (Argeneau Vampires, Book 9)
This was the best of the Argeneau series. I have read several family series books before but none have captured my interest and loyalty like the Argeneau family has.
Marguerite Argeneau was such an interesting, lovable character in all the other books of the series but she was the ultimate character in this book. I was anticipating every page. I gasped out loud at so many of the surprises and unexpected events that wove all the previous books with this one.
Do yourself a favor, indulges yourself in the entire series. You will want to read them in the proper order and read them over and over again.

I love Vampire stories and this one was not a disappointment. I got to know the characters and had great sympathy and empathy for/with them. The only reason it didn't get a fifth star was that there wasn't enough action for me. That wouldn't bother most people, but I am an action afficionado. It won't stop me from wanting to read more of this author!

This is a great series and I liked this book as I did the rest, but, I have to agree with other reviews that a new editor is in order. However, I am finding the editing in alot of the books I am reading lately is not good. Way to many errors are through out these books and I am not a english major, so if I see them, well they must be very obvious. Otherwise, great read.

This book has a few twists and turns and a conclusion that, frankly, I didn't see coming. Kudos to Ms. Sands for writing such a wonderful romance and suspense that kept me reading until it was finished.

Margurite goes missing and everyone believes she's been kidnapped. Has she or hasn't she? While looking for the estranged mother of one of the newly introduced immortals, she finds more than she bargained for.

As usual, the sex is outstanding and HOT and the romance is to die for. I know I want my own HOT immortal man. Great job, Ms. Sands, you've done it again!

I was so happy to see Marguerite get her own story, and what a story it was. They humor, the romance, the suspence of all the other books were still alive with this as well. I cannot wait until another book is done about the family, maybe a big ole family reunion would be a good one to go with. Of course I agree with the other reviews where the family tree should not have revealed so much information before the book got started.
