Wasn't as good as the others. This one was a bit preachy. Kind of in your face! It should have stuck to the story like the others, then it would have been enjoyable, but I was disappointed! Don't know if I will buy any more of this saga.

Sooooo much better than the last awful book. I couldn't put it down. I wish she had left Mary's and Joe's marriage happy instead of having all that happened because it seems like lately any who was married as mortal had a horrible marriage, but it still worked in the story line. I really enjoyed that there was no whining from Mary and she just accepted the Immortal life as she did. I had enough from the last book to last for a while. Really hope Tomassos book is next.

Lynsay Sands is always a good read. A wonderful balance of action, romance and lessons to be learned. "Runaway Vampire" also takes on some serious questions not brought up in her previous Argeneau books and Mary is not the usual heroine. Great book, wonderful adventure and full of Lynsay's wit and humor. Definitely recommended!

I have read and LOVED every book about the Argeneaus. However, I have to say this one disappointed me because it ended on such a cliffhanger. I downloaded it, read it with interest, and just as things were getting good.....it ended. Very disheartening since Ms Sands has never done that before. For that reason, I gave it 3-4 stars. This is a fantastic series though....I would recommend to anyone. Just wish I wouldve known that things weren't resolved at the end of this one.

I usually love Lynsay Sands cause her books are funny and refreshing... Not so much in this one.

I have been a fan of her Argeneau series since Single White Vampire (which was amazing and got me hooked on her as an author) - but I've been less than impressed with the last few.

1. Where's the humor? Usually I'm laughing, the tone is light and the story is fun. This had the elements - she runs him over with an RV, chaos ensues - could have worked. It didn't - not for me. If anyone could find something humorous that wasn't eye roll worthy - please let me know.

2. Tone - this felt rushed. Everything felt rushed. Their love story - rushed. For someone so "mature and wise" as I've seen her described she sure does capitulate quick. I saw no reason for them to fall in love; no chemistry. Where was the witty banter? The shared interests ? How they complement each other?

3. Preaching - I felt *so* preached to. With Mary's whole spiel about her marriage. Fine, I guess that was one perspective but I felt preached to. I am not reading this for relationship advice - I want a fun story. That's why I read lynsay sands in particular.

4. Dante - boring. I read a whole book about him and I feel like I don't know him at all. How's he different than any other John Doe Vampire (excuse me, immortal)? I wasn't interested or invested him at all - and it was *his* book.

Anyway, I was bored and not entertained. If that's what you were hoping for - save your money, imo.

I have always been a fan of Lynsay Sands. Her stories have a spot of humor even in dire circumstances and lightens the mood. Would recommend her books in particular her medieval series. Those are very funny.

What a nice, refreshing twist - an older woman. I am so glad Lindsay went in that direction instead of the well-used teen/early twenty whiney damsel. And the story held together without a ton of sex.

I really hope someone is ghost writing for the author. If her earlier books were anything like this one or the previous one I never would have read the series. The protagonist had much more depth when he was a side character in the earlier books. The rest of the characters read were flat and had no depth. There seems to be a trend of "mortal" marriages not being good but "immortal" marriages being excellent running through the recent books. In the earlier books the immortals were not perfect and could make mistakes as well. They were humans who just happened to be vampires. Now it seems as if the message being sent is that you can't be happy in your marriage and need something else. The introduction of the token gay couple was really pathetic as well. If those are the relationships the author wants to write about then it should be in another genre. The author should stick to vampires and leave social issues alone.

This book wasn't that great; characters were one dimensional, it felt as if the author slept-walked through the story, I felt some creepiness about the sex scenes between the sixty-two year old heroine and the young-looking hero, and I loathed the cliffhanger ending.

I enjoyed parts of the story; I liked most of the sex scenes and thought they were well written, other than the creep factor of the apparent age difference. I know there are hot looking seniors, such as Tina Turner and Sophia Loren, but most older women, including the heroine, show signs of aging. The heroine referred to her imperfect aging body several times, so the image I had of her was of a well preserved grandmother, attractive but showing her age. Maybe it is because I am in my sixties with grandsons about the age of the hero's physical appearance, but as much as I liked the sex scenes, there was an "ick" feeling in the back of my mind.

Although this was not one of Sands' better efforts, I still enjoyed the plot, with the whole naked, escaping hero being run over by the heroine, the efforts to trap the villains and rescue the hero's brother. I thought a lot of the story was background and almost filler, waiting until we got to the good, exciting part. I was expecting the story to pick up as we finally tracked down the villain, had a confrontation with the ringleader and his henchmen, learned what the ringleader was doing and why, saw him get his comeuppance, rescued the hero's brother and any other immortals, culminating with everyone flying off into the sunset, arriving at the "Great White North" (aka Canada), and living happily ever after. Unfortunately, just as the story was getting good, it ended. That's right, it ended with no resolution, as in cliffhanger, as in an unadvertised two-parter. We are left with everyone about to fly off to Venezuela to rescue the brother. Period!

I am beyond furious. I returned the book for a refund and it will be a frosty day in Hades before I trust a Lynsay Sands book again. What is with these cliffhangers? A lot of both traditionally published authors, as well as indie ones, have been churning them out. Maybe some readers like them but there are a lot of us who don't. Had this book had an ending, I would have rated it three stars, even with its flaws. So do I recommend this book? Not unless you are a reader who likes an average book with a cliffhanger ending.

Runaway Vampire is a light and sweet read. Even though it’s number 23 it can be read as a stand-a-lone. But, I will say Dante Notte and his twin pop up in previous titles, so you might enjoy more if read in order.

Their isn't anything new to the series. It's pretty much the same, but with different characters or problems. I have to mention that I really enjoy Sands vampires. They are not your typical vampires and I like this aspect of the series.

The storyline is that Dante and his twin where sent to investigate vampire kidnappings and have gotten themselves kidnapped. Dante finds a way to get away, but now we are wondering who has kidnapped them and why? It was enjoyable the little RV drive to avoid being captured again and to protect Mary his life mate.

The romance is charming and sweet. Dante, I just adore him. He’s such a nice guy. Mary she was nice and I liked her level headedness. She had concerns being attracted to a man who looks in his mid 20’s early 30’s when she’s an old lady in her 60's, but these two got along. I had fun with the shared dreams and once Mary was changed well the life sex - makes them pass out. I always had fun with that aspect.

I will say I did miss Aunt Marguerite. She has a gift for finding life mates and brings a little humor into the story, but here we don’t have her and well this couple “accidentally” runs into each other and nature takes it’s course.

I wasn’t overly impressed and it’s not my favorite, but I still enjoyed Runaway Vampire. I must admit that I prefer the older pervious titles, the ones at the beginning. They just had so much more life, humor, and quarry fun to them. Now it just feels a little stale even though we are getting a different plot with the kidnappings.

Another great Argeneau Novel by Lynsay Sands. As always with Lynsay this book was off the charts. I love this whole series and these characters. Lynsay definitely gets me invested in her characters and has a way of making me picture the whole story. I have been waiting for the Twins to get their story so I was beyond excited to read Dante's adventure. I love how Lynsay does not let age or outside beauty change her characters attraction and affection for one another. I am also a sucker for love at first sight and though it is the nanos that start the initial attraction it is not what keeps it going, or at least that is how I see it.
Dante and Mary's story is awesome and has the danger aspect that all of this series has and it keep me on the edge of my seat. I felt like I was right there with both of them with their struggles and internal monologues. I could understand Mary more than Dante's side, but I loved getting to know Dante more in the story. And of course I got more of Lucian and the other enforcers.

Lynsay is awesome at laying a story out for her readers and can keep it interesting even though this series has a ton of books it is still interesting and keeps me coming back for the next one. Keep it coming Lynsay I love your books and this series. You have a fan for life in me. Thank you for sharing your characters and stories with me.

OK, so while Gia doesn’t get her own story, at least her two siblings do (or will, as this is only the start of that story arc). After seeing Dante and his brother surface to train people and eat all the food, it was nice that we swung back around to address their lack of life mates.

During an investigation into some possible kidnappings, Dante and his brother end up drugged and locked up by a group of thugs. Through some luck and ingenuity, Dante ends up on the run from said kidnappers, naked, in the woods, when suddenly the woods turn into road and said road ends up filled with an RV (which runs him over). The driver of the RV, Mary, is an older woman, newly widowed and on her own (with a dog). While the easy thing would appear to be taking control of her and getting to safety (and/or rescuing his still trapped brother), he finds he can’t get into her mind. Uh oh.

Mary has essentially decided she will probably spend most of her remaining time alone, now that her husband has passed away. What seemed like an ideal vacation from the house ends up being too much of a trip down memory lane to be much fun. Add in an accident, a random bleeding naked man in her bedroom, being on the run from kidnappers and, what is slowly revealed as a secret world of immortals and she’s missing her boring life. This was an interesting match – a hot young immortal matched with an older woman who has lived a very full life. It reminded me a little of the Port Henry storyline and I enjoyed most of it. There were some sad bits here and there, but all in all I think Dante got a story worthy of the big man. Obviously this doesn’t wrap up so neatly because we still have to rescue his brother, but that made me even more eager to immediately continue with these books. Here’s hoping he gets an equally feisty life mate!

This book has all the elements to create a great story but never quite got there. The humor that is usually so prevelant in the Argeneau books is just not there in this one.

And what the hell? Are we now competing with Stephen King on who can end a story closer to the middle and leaving the reader feeling MORE unfulfilled?

A common theme in all Argeneau books is leaving the old family behind. And it is depressing for no reason. We know there are exceptions to " morals can never know"rule. They make these exceptions for BUSINESS. Why can't they do the same process for new turned family members? Yeah it's time consuming but they usually have 10 years to work with.

I hope the next book moved the plot more and goes back to the tried and true formula of major funny and steamy sex scenes and gets over the angst depression generating themes in more recent books.

Still it's Lyndsey Sands and worth the read. Just not the quality I have come to expect of her.

Runaway Vampire is my Favorite Lynsay Sands book. I love all of her books, but this one is by far my favorite! Mary is an widow traveling on her own when she hits Dante with her RV. Mary is scandalized by her own reaction to a gorgeous man whom she believes to be young enough to be her son. But Mary is in for the ride of her life when she meets Dante and gets to know who and what he really is. Dante is an immortal and he recognizes Mary as his life mate. Mary will have the chance to be young, in love and loved like never before. Now this is what a romantic fantasy is all about!

I've loved and have read every book in this series. But the last two, have fallen so far below my expectations. The books are almost to the point of boring. Once she killed off the Villian Leo, we loved to hate. The books have lost their edge. They haven't been great reads. This book, gave me hope. The opening was funny. Dante was run over by his life mate's RV. But went down hill from their. He was running away from kidnappers who had his Twin brother. Whom he seemed to forget about through most of this book. So I ask you Lynsay , what happened to the energy, the fast pace, the humor, the fun characters with chemistry. I do have to say. It did have one funny scene. It was our old Justin Bricker who provided the humor, with his Internet research on the use of condoms. I laughed once. Normally she had me cracking up. Bring back a bad Rogue. and the Rogue Hunters.

I thoroughly enjoyed Runaway Vampire. It was light and funny. Just enough adventure and romance for a fun read. Mary is 62 and a widow, wondering what her future is going to be like all alone. Until she runs into Dante. Literally! With her RV. And that is where the grins, romance and the adventure begins. Dante is hot and sexy and showing way to much skin for Mary's comfort but great for making me laugh. Both characters and their relationship are well represented and even the sex scenes fall prey to humor.
Although Mary is not the first older woman in the Argeneau series that an Immortal has fallen in love with and turned, it is the first book in the series that is entirely about an older woman becoming the Life Mate of an Immortal.

I usually love books by Lynsay Sands. I found this one disappointing because she has fallen for the CLIFF HANGER ruse. I feel cheated out of the ending. The relationship is barely resolved and everyone is ready to go hunt for Dante's twin in Venezuela. The book was not so long that she couldn't have ended it after the rescue. I read the blurb for the next book and it seems to take up where this one left off. I'll check it out from the library. I won't be spending money for a section of a serial story.
The CLIFF HANGER ending bait and switch authors are using to sell books is very irritating. An established author like Ms. Sands does not need to resort to this tactic to sell her books.

Loved this book. If you haven't read this author, please give her a try. Her books are fun and smooth flowing read. She has actually spoiled me for some other books. After I read some of hers I read others and the flow just wasn't there. I will warn you it is hard to put her books down. All her books in this series can be read as stand alones but you will want to go back and start at book 1 and read them all. The only other problem I have is waiting for the next book to come out. This story is about Dante and Mary and they trouble they find themselves in. I don't know many books where the hero and heroine meet each other by her running him over in a RV. One thing I wish there was more of was the action she had in earlier books, yet I would say it was a good book overall and I did enjoy it.

This was another fun Argeneau novel. It was great getting to know Dante a bit more.

It seems he and Tomasso were kidnapped by evil ones that are taking many Immortals and experimenting on them. Dante is able to escape but is run over by a 68 year old woman driving an RV through Texas on her way back to Canada with her dog. He "recovers" but won't leave Mary for fear the kidnappers will harm her and just for kicks - she appears to be his life mate :).

The kidnappers do go after them and the RV is rolled. Dante is able to get Mary and the pup out before it explodes.

And that's all I'll tell you except page 255 had me laughing out loud much the same as Lucern had me cackling with his cod piece tablecloth episode ;).

Enjoy!

Very disappointing. Characters I liked in other books were pale imitations of themselves.
Dante who had all that Italian charm going for him comes across as a big goof. I mean come on. When she told him to go get dressed after she had found him naked would he really go into her bedroom and put on a pair of pink shorts and a pink and white T shirt to dress in? After which he took out for a walk in the RV camp. He is 6"8". That must have raised a few eyebrows.

Mary lost me when she started talking about what a lying cheating dog she was married to. The first 15 years of her marriage sounded like the war of the roses. Then she decides to leave him because she finds out he has had at least 4 children by different woman over the year but out of respect for her he never sees them or supports them. Seriously. But they go to see a counselor and the next 28 years of there marriage is magic. For all I know the kids starved to death but who cares.

Lucien acts like a robot. The men all talk to each other like they're in junior high school. The gay vampire couple are a total boring stereotype. The ending was a complete rush job. No real ending.

I for one am very disappointed in Lynsay Sands.

Sands is one of my all time favs as an author, but I was a little disappointed in "Runaway Vampire". It was okay, but no "wow" factor as I've seen in the other books of this series.

Though Dante and Mary had their HEA at the end, it didn't really have enough suspense and the action I've so craved from Sands' stories with twists and turns in the plot and overall action. This is why I only gave it 3 stars. Like I said....it was okay, but I wouldn't read it again unless just for clarification going into them finding Tomasso.

Here is to hoping some of the zing finds its way into the next book.

I decided to leave my review for Runaway Vampire because I enjoyed the book immensely! I saw some one star reviews and I honestly don't know why. I have read all of her Argeneau books and loved every one. Of couse I have my favorite (Reluctant Vampire) but this one is right up there with the rest. And I do hope that there is a continuation of this story, after all Dantes brother needs a soul mate. If you like Lyndsay Sands than I highly recommend this book.

Wow! I started this book late last night before bed and finished it just in time for dinner today. That's how fast paced this story was. It hooked me in and kept me going until the very end. Dante and Mary were hot, sexy and sweet together. And the mystery involved in this story is not really resolved by the end of the story but that's ok. It didn't really hurt the premise of the story and I wouldn't really describe the ending as a cliffhanger because Dante and Mary got their HEA. The mystery just had to do with Dante's twin brother, Tomasso, which I hope we'll be reading about in the next book. I love the Argeneau series!

Well, Runaway Vampire gave this woman hope that my life mate may just be out there waiting for me. Of course, you probably won’t ever find me driving an RV but maybe I could run him over with my Rogue???

Like usual, Lynsay Sands bowled me over with Runaway Vampire. It was fun, as usual ... It was exciting, as usual … The sex was off the charts, as usual. What was different? Well, I missed Aunt Marguerite. She actually didn’t have anything to do with these life mates. They “accidentally” ran into each other and nature took its course. Uncle Lucien was there, of course, being his normal grouchy self (I thought he would have lightened up, just a little, by now).

But, the storyline is what really held me. Lynsay has a way of really bringing you into the story and making you wonder just where everything is heading. Who kidnapped Dante and Tomasso? Why were they kidnapped? Where did they really take Tomasso? And, a cliff hanger from Lynsay Sands! She just kept me hanging on this one. She really surprised me with that and really has me wanting the 24th book in the Argeneau series, now.

It’s funny that, after all this time, after all the books that she has written about the Argeneau’s, everything is still fresh and new. When I look back over this series, I realize that it takes a very talented writer to do this many books in a series and not repeat one storyline. Actually, it amazes me that I am still interested to see what she is going to write next, I’m not bored with it all. The writing is always fresh, clean and precise. The “life mate” storyline doesn’t get boring because each character meets and falls in love with their mate in their own, unique way. Each character has their own quirks and Lynsay makes sure that they are brought out in an interesting way. Unique, interesting, fun, sexy … just a few words to describe the stories that Lynsay Sands gives to her readers.

Review copy provided for an honest review.

I have most of the Argeneau series and have to say this is not as good as the first ten or twelve. I enjoyed reading it because it was about Dante finding his life mate. I did jump over the explanations of nanos, life mates, Atlantis and other repetitive parts.

I was very upset when I turned the page and found the story was a cliffhanger.

I will continue to read the series because I have become interested in the original characters who appear throughout the books.

Officially the funniest Argeneau novel. Dante naked on top of the RV in the gas station and poor Mary thinking he's lost his mind because he says he's going to get into the minds of the kidnappers and make them stop following them. I was in stitches.

I love Lynsay Sands books anyway and you'd think by book 23 this series would be getting old hat and boring but she keeps changing it and improving it and Lucien, despite having Leigh is still a crusty old git who would kill anyone if they got in the way of the safety of his people. He's no nicer to Mary than he was to Greg in book 1.

Well written, adorable characters and well-narrated audiobook.

The 23rd in Sands's Argeneau urban fantasy series is hilarious as usual. I loved the many ways the heroine took revenge on her (now deceased) unfaithful husband. The heroine is not only 62 but is horrified by the vampire guy who looks 25 and insists he is wildly attracted to her. This was so interesting, because I really identified with her body issues, from sagging breasts to age spots. I liked the introduction of a new Dr. Mengele-like villain. The cliff-hanger ending makes me look forward to the next.

This one had some humor but it's not a rom-com. We have a widow travelling with her dog in an RV who runs over something on a dark lonely road and doesn't find anything. We have one of the Notte twins who escapes from his kidnappers who's sole focus is rescuing his brother. And the chase commences in more ways than one! I need the next book to see how it all finishes playing out.

When Ms. Sands began writing this series, I read each book the moment they became available. While I lost interest early in the series and have not kept up with it because, from time to time, I found the storylines somewhat flat. This one, however, I thought would be different given the fact Dante had fallen for a woman who was 62 to his gorgeous 26 year-old looking immortal self. Halfway through the book, it seemed the story had run its course and there was nothing but backstory about Mary, her failed marriage, etc., and Dante explaining about immortals after having dined on several humans following being run over by Mary's RV. It got to the point where I found myself skipping parts and not missing anything pertinent because conversations seemed repetitious as to details. And the ending abruptly concludes Dante and Mary's relationship and sets up for the next installment in the series. Not sure I will continue with this series. Don't get me wrong, I adore Ms. Sands' writing style, it's just did not hold my interest nor perked my interest enough to continue.

This was so exciting! Loved the book. This is my first book by this author. All the characters were so well developed. Including Dante and Mary. I will say, when Mary indicated she was a doctor of psychology, some of her behavior/ comments surprised me. This was definitely a different spin on vampires, but I loved it. I've already pre-ordered Immortal Nights. Looking forward to Venezuela! I can't wait!

I just don't know how Lynsay Sands' books keep getting better and better, she never has had a bad book in this series. For those who have kept up with the Argeneau series you will remember Dante & his twin Tomasso, well they have been kidnapped and Dante runs for help and meets, you guessed it, his future life mate. This series is always sexy with a bit of humor, just love all the family and their friends.

A couple inconsistencies concerning Mary's marriage and pregnancy. So much so that I had to re-read to make sure I read it correctly. Surprised it made it past editing..... And Mary making her marriage seen "ok" in the beginning and then the whole sordid story seemed contradictory to me also. Overall, a fast, fun read.

I read the books out of order, I read Tomasso's story first, then had to come back and read Dante's. Love Tomasso's story, but I never could get past the fact that Mary was 62 and ended up with a mid 20's body. I wasn't able to ever see her in that light. Then every time they had a near sex scene, I just couldn't see it. The story line otherwise was good and I loved the other characters.

Another great book from Lynsay Sands. This one had more humor in it, which I found myself laughing a lot. I loved seeing all the old characters and even some new faces. I love that Dante finally got his own book. This one was really action packed like the others but still it was a good read. Her books in the Argeneau series are the only ones I can re-read over and over and fall in love with the characters again and again. I can not wait till later in the year (September) when the next book comes out. His twin bother will be getting a book.

I enjoyed it. The bits about Lucien were funny, and showed a side to him that isn't normally exposed. I have to admit, when I first started reading this series it didn't really impress me, but as each book came out I have gotten more and more drawn into the characters lives. It doesn't feel like the series is as long as it is. I still look forward to each one being released.

As a driver of an RV and 60 + years old. I loved it! This one made me laugh out loud several times! I could see myself doing exactly what Mary did! I could also feel/see her Cougar heart! I loved this one funner than most but still had a great story line. Thank you

Have always been a fan of this series and eagerly await each new addition. This particular book was different in that the sub-plot was just as interesting and so while we want the hero to claim his life mate we understand that this story is far from finished.

The continuation in the Argeneau family series with Dante Notte finding his lifemate Mary Winslow. Dante and his twin brother Tommosino were helping the enforcers find out who has been kidnapping Immortals and unfortunately were drugged and taken by them. A very naked Dante escaped to get help and ran into and was run over Mary in her RV. When Dante could not read Mary he realized she was his lifemate. Things got very interesting from there Mary was having problems believing Dante as well was troubled in that he appeared to be around 25 years old and very handsome and she was a 62 year old widow lusting after this young man who was young enough to be her son or possibly grandson. Story gets very interesting in that the kidnappers still want Dante as they've not kidnapped twins before and the money would be really good. Lots of action with the kidnappers continuing to chase, lots of hot sex between Dante and Mary, car wrecks, rv wrecks, so much going on that it makes you want to turn the pages to find the answers. Thank you for this story Lynsay and hopefully your next will give us Tommosino's story.

Dante escaped from his kidnappers leaving his twin Tomasso. He runs into a moving rv. Mary the rv driver brakes and stops to find out what she has hit. Finding nothing she moves on. She still isn't convinced she writes down her location to inform the police in case. Dante manages to get inside the rv and Mary doesn't find him until she stops at a truck stop. I loved the way Mary rationalizes her attraction to him. He realized almost immediately that she is his life mate. This book like her others is very funny and totally entertaining. I love the adventures that are in the book but still managing to keep it light. I can't wait to read more in the series.

What another great installment in the Argeneau series. In this story you finally get to see Dante Notte find his life mate. I was extremely happy when I found out that Dante was finally going to get his own story. I had previously fallen in love with him and Tomassa so I was ecstatic when I found out that they were both going to get their own story. This story was just great and it was so easy to read they I just couldn’t put it down. I just can’t get enough of this family I can’t wait to read more.

They say love hurts but Dante Norte didn't expect her to run him over while he was escaping humans who had abducted him and his twin brother Tomasso. In the process of protecting Mary from the people who are hunting him, he realizes she is his life mate. Only thing is she is a 62 yr old widow and although he is over 100 yrs old he appears to be 26 yrs old. Can he convince her to give it a chance, or will circumstances take the choice out of both their hands. I just love Lynsay Sands writing, imagination and her wit. Another awesome Argeneau story. Loved it.

Entertaining addition to the series. I especially liked the cougar aspects of finding the life mate. Very interesting twist. It was really very good. I did not give it five stars because there is a bit of a cliffhanger align with the couple'S HEA which I found disconcerting.

This was an interesting concept, but poorly executed. The story began slow, and didn't really pick up. The bad guys kept driving off and then they'd do something stupid and the bad buys would be there to exploit it, only they pulled nanos out of their hat to not only save granny's life but make her 25 again (Mary Sue anyone?) Then we stop in the middle of the action for a long disection of a bad marriage saved by a marriage counselor (has someone just saved her marriage?) I agree with one reviewer who hated the daughter's discussion of her non funeral and her happiness her mom was dead and not dating younger men at 62. Ugh.
This was my first Lynsay book. It doesn't encourage me to read another.
