Very disappointing story. Basically the female lead is just plain stupid. I like sass and spunk, hate to be confined but sheer stupidity over and over and over and over (repeat 10 times) is just plain disgusting. Not recommended even though I like this author in general.

I adore this story! Kayla is strong willed and independent and hell bent on dodging her husband's orders. Galen is distraught over the trouble his new wife seems to get into. But after she gets over illness and injury and a few kidnappings attempts they find love.

Your program is great.....It does give deserving students the opportunity they other-wise wouldn't get.
Plus, it gets me what I want at a price that's great for me. The book I received was in very good condition.
It's always great when things work out. Besides it gave me a chance to read a novel by my favorite author
Lynsay Sands. Thank You again.........

I don't know how this didn't get a lower rating! I enjoyed her other books but this was one was horrible! I skipped 40% of it just to get to the! There was no passion between the characters, no plot, and her pretending to be crazy was ridiculous. I normally love books like this and have never given a 1 star rating but this one was truly awful! Heed my warning do not purchase definitely asking for my money back!

Sweet Revenge is a fun historical Romance typical of Mrs. Sands writing which I knew mainly from her Vampire Series about the Argenau family.
I enjoy her writing, the story full of surprises and real and out of the ordinary characters.

Sweet revenge is the story of Galen McDonald, laird of the Scottish McDonald clan. In order to get his revenge from laird McGregor, he decides to steel his future bride and to make her his wife. First he thinks that he will make a sacrifice, that she has lost her mind, but his attraction soon might become more. When Kyla Forsythe wakes up healing from injuries which put her on the brink of death she never expected to see such an amazing man. She is grateful to have been rescued but is she happy to be wed to him? Together will they be able to save her from McGregor and her brother from his wife?

I really enjoyed the beginning of the book but at some point it put the book on a side I simply didn't feel like reading the rest. I eventually did in order to finish it, remembering that I liked it a the beginning, but I simply couldn't get back in. After the first half there was much less surprise and I had the feeling to read something I know already.

So in the end my opinion is that the book is good, fun and with nice characters, but when you are too used to reading Romances, historical or otherwise you at some point had more hopes for this book especially after reading The Switch.

I will take a look at some other books of Lyndsay Sands she might have some other surprising books for me.

Enjoy the read MBTM

Lynsay Sands knows how to write a very good story from beginning to the very end. This is a stand alone book. The story had it all along with some humor thrown in to boot. Very exciting ending. There are so many good reviews for this book that I can not add anymore to their reviews. I really enjoyed the book and look forward to more Highland stories from Lynsay Sands.

This was the worst Sands I’ve read unfortunately. I'm sorry Lynsay, I <3 you! I expect when I crack a Sands, I’ll get humor, some smexy men, and hot scenes. However, this one fell flat for me… BUT by FAR, NOT the worst book I’ve ever read. The problem for me was that there wasn’t too much that ACTUALLY felt like it was happening. Just a lot of talking and realizations… I did listen to this via audio, and I thought Ellie did a fabulous job with her Scottish accent! 2.5 Stars outta 5, which for me means: I feel indifferent about this book, didn’t like it but didn’t NOT like it.

So I got this book thinking it was a non fiction tutorial on how to perform the titled "Sweet Revenge" on my numerous enemies. I was skeptical when I saw the well chiseled man on the cover in a kilt, but I thought, what the hell...maybe fitness and war axes are what I have been missing. I mean the old bucket of water balanced on a partially opened door has failed me, maybe I need to think about fitness and medieval weapons. Well, to my surprise this is not a self help book on revenge but rather some sort of romance novel. Rather than return it, I bought more copies and sent it to my enemies with a note...which said (SPOILER ALERT) "Enjoy the read...p.s. They all die in the end!" So in summary, if you NOT in the market for an educational piece on sweet revenge, this romance novel may still do the trick.

I'm only just discovering this author and already have a penchant for highlander themed historicals. I really enjoyed this book. The laughs were clever and continuous. It's not an original plot overall, but when these themed stories are good, they are good. This is GOOD. You will enjoy it. If you can catch the Audible version too, you will not be disappointed!

Sweet Revenge was funny, exciting, sensual, and all the things you expect in a riveting novel.

I highly recommend it to all romance readers. I read it quickly, so now I'll go back and read it slowly.

In keeping with her other books, "Sweet Revenge" encompassed all of the typical aspects found in a Sands novel ... romance, humor, wit, an interesting subplot, and a strong relationship between the hero and heroine.
Laird Galen MacDonald's wife was murdered nine months past by his nemesis, Laird MacGregor. When Galen learns that the MacGregor plans to take an English woman as a bride, he decides to get his revenge by stealing her and marrying her himself.
Lady Kyla Forsythe, the English bride in question, quickly realizes her feelings for the man who ambushed her traveling party, captured her, and wedded her. And above all else, is grateful to him for stealing her away from the MacGregor, a man rumored to have beaten his first wife to death.
The book was a trademark Lynsay Sands in that it was witty and humorous throughout. She also wove an interesting murder-mystery subplot throughout the novel to keep the book well-paced. If you liked "The Deed", you will love "Sweet Revenge".

This story reinforces my opinion about this genre. It could have been a great story if the heroine had just regained consciousness took about a week to find out she was wed to the laird and then spent the rest of the story fighting with and getting to know and fall in love with him. Instead, all of the characters were daft. The laird was weak.

I have enjoyed all of Lynsay Sands' books but the I have noticed that the last few I've read are missing one key feature. Humor. The first book I read of hers "Always" was packed with humor and it made the story so memorable. This book was sadly lacking in it. It made for a good read but I don't think I'll reread it anytime soon. I liked the hero, Galen with is rare red hair. He seemed fair and gentle. The heroine Kyla is a strong willed wounded woman who was Galen's equal. I wish there had been a bit more conversation and maybe a bit more of a struggle between the two before they fell in love. I did enjoy the secondary characters in this book. The were the only humor to be found.

If you enjoy Highland Romance this book is a Must Read!
Lynsay Sands is the best with this genre, her books are what historical romance is meant to be.
This is one of her older books and I enjoyed it even more after reading it again.

Kyla was married to Galen who cared for her and treated her well. Someone wanted to kill Kyla, so she was being guarded for her own protection but she continued to escape her guards and put herself at risk. She acted like a rebellious teenager sneaking out and causing trouble. She was almost killed twice because of this. I was too annoyed with her actions to be able to enjoy the story.

CAUTION SPOILER: I was also annoyed with the author creating a conflict between Kyla and her brother by a simple misunderstanding of words. Kyla showed him her scar. He said "Fool. Lies. All lies." He was thinking about the evil person who caused the scar but Kyla erroneously thought he was thinking of her, so she fled. This is one of my pet peeves, separation due to inaccurate assumptions about each other, when a brief conversation would have solved the problem. It was an uninteresting and uncreative way to create a conflict.

Sexual content: not evaluated. I read this book before I began counting sex scenes and describing the language. As I recall it was moderate. Setting: unknown time, possibly 1200s Scotland. Copyright: 2000. Genre: historical romance.

For a list of my reviews of other Lynsay Sands books, see my 5 star review of "Love is Blind" posted 1/22/07.

While I do enjoy this authors books, to the point of rushing to my local "Book Swap" and library after my first by her, there were just a few things that bothered me. The First being she reminds me too much of Julie Garwood, whom I love. Sands has the same mood for her stories minus the character development, humor, tension, etc. In a way it's great to find a new author like one you love, the problem, I feel, being that they're too similar and Sands is found lacking. Especially with this story. In Garwood's "The Wedding" it's almost the exact same plot. Heroine waylaid/rescued by hero while on the way to be married to a cruel laird, whom also is a terror. A quick wedding...Just writing about it has me smiling and wanting to reread Garwood's for the 20th time. I don't think I could bring myself to reread any of Sands books. While I have to say they are good stories and I will read more by this author. I didn't feel a deep connection with the characters. It is as if they meet, put up with one another, have very few meaningful moments, if any, then on the last page declare their feelings and devotion. What I'm saying is if you like Sand's, you'll be kissing Julie Garwood's book covers.

I love humorous historicals and this one did not disappoint. Reminds me of the historicals that Julie Garwood used to write. Loved the interaction between the main and secondary characters. I will definitely be reading other books by this author.
