Wonderful, no holds-barred book that tells it like it is and gives you a lot to contemplate. Very easy read as it is not trying to be overly intellectual for the sake of fitting in "the right circles." What you see is what you get, and what you get is fantastic.

Bishop takes a cut and dry approach that makes perfect sense. It is a tough love, stop screwing yourself over, and do things approach. If you are extremely sensitive to that approach, this book is either a terrible idea or a great desensitization tool for you. Also, if you are sensitive to explicit language, I wouldn't read it (I didn't feel it was frequent enough to warrant the warning, but I am also aware that I curse a little more than the average person. Of course, if you read the title and are looking at reviews, you likely aren't offended by the use of such language). All in all, this self-help book is great if you need a good kick in the pants rather than a magic fix.

Such a great book!! I absolutely loved it! It really puts things into perspective and makes you really think about your subconscious mind set, and makes really dig into your own accountability. His Scottish accent is really nice to listen too as well.

This is a great book. If you want to skip the fluff and get right to the meat then this is the book for you. As a "self-help junkie" I decided to get rid of several of my many self- help books after learning what Gary Bishop teaches... which was a very freeing experience. This book helped to simplify my direction in life vs. feeling like I had to learn and apply everything from every book. This book will assist you to get going for what you have always wanted to do, be, or have. Cheers.

I highly recommend this book because each chapter contains a tool that is easy to implement (I use them all the time) and applicable to several areas of life (self, relationships, work, etc). It's a quick read that packs a lot of punch. The chapters are clear cut wirh examples that are easy to relate to. Ultimately you have the choice to take actions that will cause you to get the most out of your life, or not. If you do want to take action, this book will set you up and give you the motivation and tools you need.

A perfect reminder that we as humans can change our lives and improve our lives simply by taking action. We know what needs to get done, just go and do; greatness is wired within each and every one of us, we just need to act on it -- if we really want it anyways.

The concepts in this book weren't anything you haven't heard before, and they don't reveal anything new; however, the way he puts it is so cohesive and well put together. Everything just clicks! It's a quick read, and really got me motivated to makes some big changes in my life.

I really enjoyed this read and have recommended it to a few family members and friends. Although it didn't reveal anything truly revolutionary to me, the way in which Gary states his perspective resonated with me much more than any other book I've read on this topic!

Imagine a self-help guru that makes ridiculous feel good statements to people who obviously feel anything but. Who misguides you into looking further and further into the past, to blame everyone but yourself for the choices you've been making.
This book isn't anything like that.
Gary isn't anything like that.
Give yourself a break. Buy it.

This book I could either take it or leave it. He made several good points on how we prevent ourselves from overcoming potential barriers but I felt lacked an actual plan on how to do so. His main piece if advice was basically, "Just stop it!" Cuz yeah, if it were really that easy for us we wouldn't be reading a self-help book. His writing also seemed like just a barrage of inspirational quotes & sometimes felt like he was droning on with no real point. I would hardly describe this as a "manifesto" as depicted on the back cover. I would not recommend this to anyone with actual problems with depression/anxiety.

If you're looking for another self help book to take your life to the next level without being an active player in your life, then this isn't the book for you. If you're to make radical changes in your life and your ready and willing to do whatever it may take then look no further.

I heard such great things about this book. I bought the audio version and I couldn't even finish 2 chapters. I could not stand to listen any longer.
If you're looking to get this, buy a physical copy.

Now that I've read the book, paper copy, it only took a few hours.... I am utterly embarrassed, that I was so inactive, complacent, never considering myself lazy, WOW, yes, in big letters. Gary John Bishop thanks for putting the obvious in layman's terms! Great read. It has spurred a new voice in my head, one of actions, willings, restlessness, Thank you for helping me see me, and all of my possibilities! It was your voice I heard in my head as I read each word deliberately, and when my mind wandered I read it again, aloud.

From the first page to the last page I feel like he could read my mind. I even found myself looking up and around like it may just be a big 'guess your number' joke. It was so relatable; it made me see how much power I really have in my life to say 'yes' to things I want and 'no' to things I don't. Including things I've always thought I had to have in my life. it freed me to let go of a lot of lies I had been believing about myself. It opened up a space that allows me to be, really be, the self I had stifled a long time ago.

I was moved to laughter and anger and tears all in one chapter. It really is that good!

This book hits hard. It doesn't skip over the real issues we carry around every day. It doesn't gloss over the lies we believe about ourselves. It's not full of fluff or sweetness but leaves you feeling incredible and powerful. The title sets the tone. It's a brisk and straight to the point look at what it available to all of us! Highly recommend!

This is extremely confusing but good work none the less. let me start by saying I wish I had gotten this book on kindle unlimited. I like the point the author is trying to get across but he sort of bounces back and forth and to be honest it feels like he is saying you should accept mediocrity, i dont think that is the intent mind you. I do believe he was determined to help people but it just wasn't what I thought it was going to be. Too much like a psych 101 book.

BUY IT, GIVE IT, READ IT, LIVE IT! There is no question that this book literally picked itself up and slapped me, graciously and firm, across the cheek and demanded I wake up and live my life. Each chapter I read I became compelled to pause prior to reading the next. Why? Simply because Gary is not sharing any kind of information with the reader (me). You(me) are reading about your own life! This is a book that will make the difference. That is only IF the reader will finally get off the bench of their own game of ball.

I am out of my dugout! SWINGING and scared as heck yet so what!

I had the pleasure of 1st meeting Gary 5 years ago at a seminar he was leading. If not for anything else I got that this dude took life by the horns and it wasn't pretty, he wasn't doing it for show he actually gives a hoot about me and the people on this planet.
So, to sum it up. Read it. If you don't, then too bad. I don't recommend that course of action.

I met Gary back in September of 2012 when he led a seminar I was at. He is an incredible human being with a heart for people, and is willing to say whatever needs to be said so that people own there power and take on life.

This book is direct, insightful, and cuts to the main issues that all people face when they are stopped in life. More importantly, it gives actionable steps to address and breakthrough to the new life you always wanted.

The book covers nine chapters with tools to reshape your view of yourself and the world, and inspire you to take action. One of my favorite chapters, Chapter 6, "I am not my thoughts, I am what I do" points to the truth of the matter that actions are what make any real difference. And taking new action is actually the way to create new thought patterns, not the other way around.

Although some of what he writes may be confronting, it will definitely get you thinking in a new way and have you up off your butt and going for what you want. It was definitely a wake up call for me!

All in all, a great book that is a quick, powerful read. And can be referred to over and over again if need be for a refreshing pick me up. I thoroughly enjoyed it and will refer back to it often as I apply, and take action to create the life I want for myself. Thanks Gary!

I ordered one paperback book today and downloaded the $.99 version also. I read the first chapter tonight and cannot go to sleep thinking about what is to come in the next chapters! I got out of bed, went back to the store.com and ordered (3) more books! I know for sure I am going to want to share your book with others. I am hooked! AND.....To answer your question...I am UNWILLING! I am unwilling to accept living my life as a powerless woman who has believed for so many years that it is not possible for me to have an amazing life that I love.

I bought this on my personal Audible acct, which is different from my family acct.

The book is GREAT. I think it's 100x better because he narrated it and you just gotta love a Scottish dude telling you to stop dicking around and get on with your life already.

Lots of it was kind of stuff I was already doing (i.e. I was listening to it while training to climb Mt. Whitney, not sitting on my sofa), so I ended up high fiving myself a lot. But it was good to have a cheerleader along the way.

So cliche, way too general, all fluff. I was really disappointed with this book. It's written like the readers aren't very intelligent. Maybe it would be insightful if you've never read a self help book in your life, but even then I'm skeptical. I'd skip this one.

I just started listening to the audiobook and so far so good. I came here to read reviews and felt the need to recommend the audiobook. Gary's accent is interesting...but his messages come across so directly and more powerfully than the reviews I am seeing here about reading the book. He sounds like a personal coach in the audio version.

Unlike any other "self-help" book out there! All of those focus on recreating or re-inventing who you are, and what your potential could be. No visualizing being a tiger, or any of that stupid crap.
Gary, in very plain language, the language we all think and speak in, drops the bomb, that the only thing blocking you from being the fullest you possible, IS YOU!! How you consciously speak to yourself, how you consciously treat yourself, and how you chose to interact with the world outside of your own head.
Buy. The. Book.

I am on chapter 9 and nothing can lower my score at this point. I love his direct, no nonsense style. "I'm willing" is my biggest takeaway, so far. What am I willing to tolerate or not tolerate. Oh, and the part about I'm winning at not losing weight...go, me! :-/ Spot on.

At first I found his accent difficult to get past but I kept listening and now, it's endearing. I'm terrible with accents...not that I don't like them, hearing isn't my strength (I'm visual) so it's a personal problem, nothing to do with Mr. Bishop! No stars off for being who he is! I'm just saying, if the accent throws you off, just keep with it - the content is worth it!

Listening on Audible and am thoroughly enjoying this fun presentation on mindset training. As a personal trainer I have already had to employ many ideas mentioned in the book before. They work. Like the body, the mind benefits greatly from training and the two create a symbiosis. Neglect one and you will suffer for it.

Such a well structured book. All of the chapters connect together. Even if you think you have it all. Listen to this book. It may realign you or even set you on a better path. I usually think I have all the right answers. It's because I typically do. This book has expanded my mind to allow me to hit my mark more frequently. My issue was being consistent and managing myself when it comes to objectives.

Great read! Highly recommend it to anyone at all ages.

The good news is that this book has a lot of solid, practical advice. You will be a better, happier version of yourself by doing as this book recommends. The bad news is that none of this advice is new or even particularly revelatory. There are two dozen books (likely even more than that) which have already dispensed these same ideas. Even worse news is that the writing style is infantilizing and, to an educated reader, off-putting. For example, there's this in the introduction: "Raise your hand if you've ever thought that way yourself. Now put your hand down, people are looking at you funny." I get that kind of attempted cleverness in college freshmen. I am not a college freshman, and find this mildly annoying.

And so I started skimming, and then skimming some more. This is a fine book for skimming, since the information-density is pretty low and the reading level is even lower. But, to be fair, the ideas themselves are solid. The book is nearly as useful as a middling TED talk.

If you want an easy to read, highly simplified gloss over ideas that are freely and widely available elsewhere: this is a fine choice. For me, I would prefer something considerably meatier, more original, or at least more mature.

For me, this book had no new information in it. The content is really a reminder of what’s already been said and written about and there is certainly value in that. But, overall, it doesn’t add anything new to this sort of discussion. Some of the content, as well, is trite such as get in that car and start the engine. I found myself just passing over these bits which in some cases was pages. Certainly an occasional nugget but for me it was mostly rehashed wisdom.

I purchased this book in the Seattle airport just before flying home to LA. I read the entirety of the book in just over 2 hours because I couldn't put it down the whole flight! Throughout the book, I found myself smiling, smirking, and even tearing up at one point. This book takes no prisoners. It is extremely real and will make you face your faults while giving you tools to overcome them so that you may be successful in leading a happier and healthier life. I HIGHLY recommend this book to everyone, not just people who may think they need it. 10/10 will read again :)

It was a short book - I wanted to dislike it - just on general principles. The reality - I found myself quoting Bishop and recommending the book to friends. I also found myself capturing sound bytes from the book - another thing I never do! His discussion about the Domains we choose was great. My stance has always been, I worked about as hard as a waiter (especially factoring in nights / weekends), as a do in a white collar job. Take the money and take weekends off!

This book captures many contemporary concepts in popular psychology but makes them digestible and applicable to ones live in a way that many of the academic books on these topics do not. The author is down to earth and cuts to the chase. If you have read other books and found them to be lackluster, I'd give this one a try.

Comical but didn’t get to any pointers until well into the book (chapter 6 of 9). It was a bit preacher-like versus real tools to get yourself out of a rut. Quick read, however, and motivational if you’re into those self help type of books.

The first thing to say about this book is that it's very short and can be read in a couple of hours. Despite the number of pages listed, they are small pages with big print and would probably be less than 100 normal pages. There is nothing earth shattering new in this book, and I've heard it all before. However it packs a pretty big punch in a little package. It's inspiring and very passionately written. The author's ideas and examples are excellent. It's just very well done and I highly recommend it.

This is the book you want to read if you want to change your life. It's not the book you want if you want to analyze why your life is what it is. They say the definition of insanity is doing the same things over and over and expecting different results...this book is about getting your sanity back.

This book does more than just make complete sense. It has you look at your life in a way that has you have to confront what you've been willing to put up with it doesn't work in your life. Has you look at what some people would call self-sabotage and then pinpoints it to the degree that you now have the say in whether you're going to continue to do that or not. I have had a more productive week then I have had in years even though a lot of the stuff with things I already knew. Thanks Gary

I'm NOT a huge fan of reading, but I was extremely excited to get my hands on this book! I had the pleasure of meeting Gary while attending a seminar back in 2012. What he had to say and was very in-your-face sorta personality, but I got it and what he had to say. This book is a great tool that I will use as a "life manual" if you will. It's a great reminder of things that I know and how to remain open, positive and move out of my own way, which I've struggled with in different areas of my life. I haven't finished the book, but I'm on day 2 of reading it and I'm halfway through. I'm loving it and I've been able to share some of the insightful information with my husband and 9 year old son. I encourage people to read it, even if you think you don't need it. It will offer some insight in an area or areas that you are struggling with. This is a great book so far and I look forward to finishing it and discussing this with my husband after he reads......Thank you Gary!! You are an amazing person, doing amazing things!

I should right a book. This guy is going around and around and around, from chapter to chapter and says what everyone already knows. Just having a catchy book title isn't enough. This book ... I have no nice things to say about it, so I won't say anything. I want my money back.

This book calls out all the things we refuse to acknowledge. The delivery of information with his quick witted humour makes it stand out hit. We want our lives to be awesome, yet we look for outside solutions rather than look with in. In a technology driven world we have become so use to having things instantly. So its no wonder we are hard on ourselves when we say, "ok i want to be rich" but nothing happens. We forget that what ever we want we need to put the time in to do it. The "WILLINGNESS" to put the work in. Which in a technology world is hard to wrap our minds around. This book makes you call out the bull sh#t you use to excuse your actions. If yoy buy only one book this year - to try to find yourself i beg you to buy this book. It truly changed my way of thinking. I get it and im willing to put forth action because i can, i am made to win.
