The story had to much fill in which had nothing to do with the mystery. I was able to determine who the person was early in the story. If you have time to spend with the story, not one to keep you reading into the night, then you might enjoy.

This book mostly bored me. It's not that the author doesn't have talent. I guess I just like a different type of book.

I liked the hero, but didn't to much care for the heroine. She always acts like she has a stick up her butt!!! The hero couldn't do anything, as far as showing her that he cared about her, without her acting pissy about it. And good grief they been together through two books and he still hasn't gotten past first base!!!!
The hero is always thinking about how much he cares about her. She is always thinking about do we need to start a relationship. So this isn't just a suspenseful book. If your gonna spend so much time on the characters thinking about each other, then good grief let them hook up. Dang!!! This girl acted like she got mad every time he acted like he cared about her. It even ended that way. And this guy was far from a alpha man. They weren't any closer at the end of this book than they were at the beginning.

The suspense parts had its moments. A lot of it I just couldn't get into it. The heroine has a TSTL moment at the end where she goes somewhere she knew the killer could be, by herself. Smh...

I think I'm gonna cut my loses with this series. It's not for me.

Though well-written & edited (with the occasional homophone) I found the book bland and the story-line fairly predictable, the ending trite.

I also found the relationship between Spenser & Cassidy particularly irritating, with Spenser acting the jealous pimply-faced adolescent each and every time Cassidy speaks to another male. It's little wonder that Cassidy is so indecisive about the relationship - if there is any, beyond the occasional fumble ... OTOH she is no great shakes herself, so I guess that they would do well together.

Unfortunately not my cup of tea.

Fallen…in love with this book, more accurately! Carey Baldwin is back to demonstrate her prowess with a psychological thriller. Special Agent Atticus Spenser is collaborating with Dr. Caitlyn Cassidy on a second case in my hometown of Los Angeles. Things were turning romantic in Judgment despite the Man in the Maze killer (review available here), but this new case will rearrange exploration of those feelings. Duty calls and they’re nothing short of dutiful. Fallen is an engaging story with intriguing layers that will hold your attention until the end.

Bodies are falling from the sky yet there isn’t a director yelling ‘Cut!’ to end the scene. Spenser and Caitlyn work fast to ascertain a commonality/pattern among the lovely female victims — profiling at its finest with this pair of experts. Spenser and Caity don’t always agree, but their opposing theories help to hone the process and exact an even more accurate assessment. The banter and dialogue is professional and productive.

Twists and turns lead you nowhere fast, but the investigation along the way is intelligent and compelling. Suspects are considered, but Ms. Baldwin keeps the plot dubious, making our heroes work for the case. When the actual Fallen Angel Killer makes an imperative, last hour demand for “Celebrity X” to reveal his identity (a provocative challenge to say the least), the mystery is spun yet again. Ms. Baldwin leads us down a riveting path to apprehend the killer.

Caity’s always been a wild card, IMO, because of her father’s death. She’s fluent in all things legal, there’s rarely a grey area for her, but there was a correlating epiphany that brought forth an unexpected emotional connection.

“…she couldn’t deny that she was beginning to believe the best way to protect the innocent was to see to it that the guilty were correctly identified in the first place.”

That realization made Caity cognizant and diligent: Don’t exonerate without finding the real killer. Spenser’s own abilities expand with Caitlyn’s new perspective. They are an omnibus force.

Spenser talking down a hostage situation with a calm explanation of lethal force was fabulous. It was described so perfectly, expert balance of facts and dark humor, Ms. Baldwin makes us fall for Spense even harder. That’s one of the brilliant qualities imbued in this character – Spense might be terrifyingly brilliant, but he’s approachable. The psychological profiling is elaborate yet understandable; you follow along like an amateur investigator. I wouldn’t go so far as to say I was on their level — I just want them to be my friends in real life!

I don’t mean to cut to the chase, but the Fallen Angel Killer resolves ingeniously. It was creative and risky, expertly catering to the murderer’s pathology. It was epic. You outdo yourself, Ms. Baldwin.

Our H/H have more than earned that Tahitian diversion. Ms. Baldwin teases us with stolen kisses, we’re more than ready for more, but she’s touching on it with a finesse that keeps us entranced. The time is now, we’re ready, lol, but the long arm of the FBI beckons yet again…to Dallas, Texas. Spenser and Caity are in demand so we’ll need to be patient on the romantic front. Fallen is a terrific addition to a dynamic series.

FALLEN is fast moving mystery thriller with Baldwin’s protagonists, Dr. Caitlin Cassidy and FBI Agent Atticus Spencer, working together to help LAPD find a killer or maybe a serial killer. Baldwin shares backstories of Caitlin and Spence with her readers helping them understand their interesting dynamics. The author’s mystery intensifies as new information comes to light, adding twists and turns to their investigation. She keeps her readers on edge as they learn facts about the victim’s connections to each other.

Baldwin develops unique support characters adding intrigue to her storyline. The new information given them by a TV newscaster help Caitlin and Spence establish a new profile of the murderer. Their investigation changes focus when the author throws them a curve when the murderer kidnaps the witness. Readers at the side of Caitlin and Spence experience their frustration when the murderer demands the Madam Lucy’s clients make a public apology or the murderer will kill the witness.

Readers are given insight to Caitlin and Spence’s personal life when Baldwin adds a subplot focusing on their romance. Caitlin is injured when the murderer attacks them. Protective Spence is upset when he learns that Caitlin is following a clue on her own. Baldwin shares Caitlin’s inner thoughts about the murderer. She pursues her theory creating a new level of tension when she follows her instincts on how to handle the murderer. FALLEN helps readers understand how Caitlin and Spencer working together delve into the criminal mind for insight. Baldwin keeps adding to the excitement as readers experience Caitlin efforts’ to control her independence and follow her convictions. The author keeps her readers guessing when Spence realizes Caitlin is in danger. The exciting conclusion to FALLEN will take readers’ breath away. Baldwin’s FALLEN is a must read and earns a thumbs up.

Fallen by Carey Baldwin is a 2015 Witness Impulse publication. I as provided a copy of this book by the publisher and Edelweiss in exchange for an honest review.

This is the second book in the Cassidy and Spencer series, but it can be read as a stand alone. However, to completely understand the dynamic between Caitlin and Spencer, I highly recommend reading the outstanding debut novel in this series- “Judgment.”

Caitlin and Spencer must put their tropical vacation plans on hold, and are off to La La land… Hollywood, California, in order to create a profile of the “Fallen Angel” killer. The LAPD is not all that crazy about a psychologist and the FBI working on their case and it makes for a tense work environment. But, the situation is spiraling out of control rapidly, as more blonde women are found murdered and the clock is ticking...

Once I got the gist of the plot, I pretty much went on auto pilot, since this story seemed like a fairly standard serial killer novel, with a few slick twist thrown in. In fact, I was much more invested in the romance between Caitlin and Spenser. I have already made it clear that I love Spencer, even if he goes “caveman” on occasion. So, I was thrilled to touch base with him again, but was worried Caitlin was going to break his heart.

If you read as many mystery, thriller, or romantic suspense novels as I do, it's easy to pick up on a formula and it's an 'occupational hazard', so to speak, to become jaded, and hard to shock or surprise, plus I am usually pretty good as figuring out who the killer is, even if I don't know the motive. Therefore, I was fairly smug, as I decided early on who the killer might be, so while I was canoodling with Spencer, the murder plot suddenly heated up and I found myself taken completely by surprise and I found the psychology behind the murders was very interesting, and I would have to agree with Caitlin's assessment. It's rare that a story will lull me into complacency like that, only to pull the rug out from under my smug and jaded brain, but I was completely taken unaware by the outcome. So, hats off to the author for giving me a wake up call and proving that not all serial killer tropes are created equally.

I love psychological thrillers because they are more about mind games than bomb explosions and shoot outs. This story has it's fair share of action and Caitlin is often in the wrong place at the wrong time, but this is still more a thinking person type thriller, and I do recommend paying close attention.

This second book in the series also solidified the partnership between Caitlin and Spencer, as they learned to balance a personal relationship with their professional one. I think these two will always have a few tug of war moments, but overall they make a great team and I hope we see more of them in the future.

I recommend this book to lovers of psychological thrillers, and romantic suspense fans, especially. But, anyone who likes dark serial killer thrillers or mysteries will enjoy this one as well.

I had a hard time getting into this one - although I really LOVED the first book, so I figured I'd continue with the author and characters. In the beginning, there was this serial killer in Hollywood killing upscale call girls. Spense and Cassidy were called in to consult for the BAU. But at the start of the story, Spense and Cassidy are doing this "love dance," and there is little focus on the murders or murderer. However, I kept reading (because I hate to leave a book unfinished), and before I realized it, the story had taken off!! They were knee-deep in clues and action. And the killer?? SO LOOK did not see that coming!!

So, my suggestion for this the 2nd book in the series, is to give it a minute b4 you give up on it. I ended up really liking it and finishing it really in one good day of reading!! So just be patient...itll be worth it, I promise!!

I received this book in an exchange for an honest review, thanks to Edelweiss

THIS BOOK WAS FREAKING AMAZING!!! CAN YOU TELL HOW MUCH I LOVED THIS BOOK!!!! :DDD

Not sure why I took so long reading this book, but OHMYGOD!!!! this book was absolutely amazing. I loved Caity and Spense, gosh they are soooo adorable with a capital 'A'. Baldwin had a very interesting way of introducing the book with a POV that I think is both essential but not at the same time. I have to admit, when I read the first chapter I didn't quite get what I was reading I had to double check to make sure I was reading the right book.

It all begins with one blonde girl falling from the sky who appeared like she was a fallen angel because of her good looks. The interesting part was, this acts as a catalyst and more deaths begin to happen. The police then recruit Profilers to help them find this criminal as they have no idea who they are looking for. There is more to this than just the crime itself, I liked how they were mini plots of the other characters too but not too much that the reader would deviate from the story.

I loved both Caity and Spense, I didn't read the first novel but I could tell there was definitely some romance going on between them. I would recommend this to crime lovers out there.

I like to imagine Caity in my head like this :)

From how Spense is described in the book by the author, I would imagine Spense being like this to anyone who flirts with Caity. Lol

The quirky duo Spence and Caitlin are back in this suspense that starts off with a body falling from the sky.

I love that Spence and Caitlin aren’t your typical leads in a suspense novel. They are two highly intelligent individuals but with plenty of quirks. Spence needing to use a rubiks cube to calm his anxieties is just one of his endearing qualities. These two are still in the early stages of their personal relationship and that neither has ever been good at relationships its humorous to see them try and navigate it.

As far as their professional relationship they work perfectly with each other. Him being a FBI profiler and her a forensic psychiatrist who decided to team up and are called out to Hollywood to try and work a profile for someone that is killing women that look like angels. The author did a good job of misleading not only Spence and Caitlin on who the UNSUB was but also the reader by throwing in some good twists here and there.

These two are such fascinating characters to read that I enjoy reading every mystery that comes their way to solve. I look forward to hopefully many more stories about these two in the future.

Straight from the case that threw Caitlin Cassidy and ‘Spense’ Spenser together as a team, Caitlin and Spense now find themselves attempting to profile a serial killer in the midst of the most ‘fake’ of worlds…Hollywood. Dubbed the Fallen Angel Killer, someone is killing prostitutes and posing them in high traffic tourist spots. When a witness goes missing, Caitlin and Spense must work against the clock to figure out who the killer is, who this mysterious Celebrity X is, and even whether or not the killer is male or female. All the while Spense’s feelings and attraction for Caitlin drives him to be over-protective and even jealous of the men working on the case with them. Of course, his worry over Caitlin’s safety becomes an issue because if you know Caitlin Cassidy, nothing keeps her from following a clue…not even a killer.

I love the way we are pulled into the mind of the killer through Caitlin’s skills as a forensic psychiatrist and Spense’s skills as an FBI profiler. The way that Caitlin climbs into the shoes of the killer and Spense solves the puzzle of the crimes leads on a merry chase after the Fallen Angel Killer. It’s a constant guessing game, thinking you’ve got it solved only to discover you’re all wrong and just as the killer feels unseen, we fail to see him. Brilliant!

I would love to go on about this amazing suspense but I also don’t want to give away too much. I want anyone and everyone who enjoys a good mystery to read this amazing story. Things are starting to heat up a little between Caitlin and Spense too. I love how Carey has invited us on the journey these two amazing characters are taking toward working better and better as a team and in a budding romantic relationship.

I highly recommend FALLEN by Carey Baldwin because this is what a suspense is meant to be…thrilling, action-packed, puzzling, and at times, truly creepy. It rocks! If you love romantic suspense, this one is for you.

***purchased for my own reading but I'm sharing my honest and unscripted review with you.

Fallen by Carey Baldwin is the second in her Cassidy & Spenser series. It totally blew me away. I was drug into the story from the first page and couldn't put it down.

A psychological thriller that had me turning pages so I could find out more about the "Fallen Angel Killer". Suspense, action, a little romance, twists and turns that kept me guessing and a fast paced plot had me glued to my Kindle. I never guessed who the killer was and that is the best kind of book to read. I will definitely be reading NOTORIOUS.

I absolutely loved Fallen. I read it within two days because I couldn't put it down. The relationship between Cassidy and Spenser is so well drawn they feel like real people. This book is smart, sexy and so fast-paced you won't be able to let it go until the last page. I recommend reading on a beach or someplace where you won't be disturbed because once the bodies start falling from the sky, you'll be hooked until you read The End.
Brilliant second book in this fabulous series. I can't wait until the next one comes out!

Carey Baldwin delivers another fast-paced terrific read in her latest Cassidy and Spenser series. From the moment a Hollywood bombshell hits the pavement, quite literally, I guarantee the reader will not be able to put down this book. In my opinion this is the best of Baldwin's novels thus far. Her writing gets tighter and better with each new work. Love, love, love this book. I am a true die-hard Baldwin fan. All I can say is, please write faster, I can't wait for the next installment!
