This is the first book in a new series from the Sinful Brides Collection. You can start with it but I would recommend you to at least start with book one of the Sinful Brides to fully comprehend all the involved characters. Christi has the most amazing talent to connecting each of her series that she has written. In starting from the very first book she wrote, she has developed a lifetime of amazing and wonderful stories that you can not wait to start and where you dread for it to end. You become so involved to whereas you have to remind yourself these are imaginary characters but at the same time you crave to learn more of their lives.
In this story Adair and Cleo are bitter enemies but are so connected that you know they are destined to be together. From bitter business rivals, they go through events that leads them to each other. They try to ignore the bond that pulls them together but destiny is set. If you know from previous stories these two are "soul mates". Christi is able to develop such connections that is just truly spell bounding!
I had a bit of struggle accepting Cleo for Adair at first but as the story goes you know it couldn't have been any other type of personality for each other. I truly loved Adair's story and look forward to see what amazing journey is around the corner in this series.
I received a a digital copy for my honest review.

I received The Hellion by Christi Caldwell from NetGalley in exchange for a fair review. This is the first book in Caldwell's Wicked Wallflowers series but is a continuation of her Sinful Brides series.
Adair Thorne is the last of the family from the streets to fall. His passion is their club, Hell and Sin Club. Watching it burn to ashes brings back not only bad memories of his true family but also, a knowledge that their sworn enemy destroyed his passion: the Killorans.
Cleopatra Killoran is tough because she has to be. When her brother demands one of the sisters make "Their Grand Bow" to polite society, Cleo volunteers in the hopes her other sisters will be spared. But staying in sworn enemy territory is impossible.
Adair and Cleo hatred for each other is palatable. And yet, there is a soft side, hunger, and understanding each have toward the other. At the beginning of the book, it seems like neither will yield, but they are constantly thrown together and must play nice. As they play nice, the heat changes character and both are consumed.
I love Christi Caldwell. Her stories are always deep with emotional turmoil and struggles each character has. I have read her from the beginning and watch her story telling grow. She never disappoints. #TheHellion #NetGalley

What happens when a wild-child is thrown together with a hard-as-nails alpha? Sparks fly, venom is spit and the vitriol of hatred is unleashed. That is until the two protagonists get together and turn all of that into lust . We have met Cleopatra Killoran and Adair Thorne in THE SINFUL BRIDES series, previous to this one. They are both products of the London slums, raised by the evil Diggory until they made an escape. Cleo is the sister of Adair’s rival gambling hell owner and there is only mistrust and antipathy between the H/h and also between the gaming hells. It seems that a love match is insurmountable Until the thrilling climax.

I enjoyed this look at Cleopatra, her sisters (heroines of the next books in the series), the seamier side of London and Adair Thorne partner in the Hell and Sin gaming hell. As usual Christi Caldwell has created characters we care about and who jump off the page. The book is infused with adventure, dialog that evokes Cleo and Adair’s cockney origins and sizzling sexual tension. My only dislike is that the antipathy between the H/h went on too long for my taste. I highly recommend this standalone book but encourage you to read the SINFUL BRIDES series to get even a more in depth feel for the St.Giles, London and the world of the gaming hells.

This book contained one of the most rapidly developed characters I have read. I sympathise, and empathize, with Cleopatra Killoran, and I loved her story. The other characters were good, but she had that extra - fire, that caught me, forced me to live with her, and cry with her. Not to mention, cry for her. To go from nothing to something creates a danger. That danger is the loss of what you have, be it a dress, a room, a sibling, or a lover. Plus, there is the issue of trust: what creates the ability go trust, and how do we inculcate trust (or distrust) in our children. What constitutes abuse of a child? Does it go beyond what we generally think of to raising children who can't trust? I am fairly certain Ms Caldwell had no intention of making me ask that question, but it came up.
I really liked this book. It was hard to read - fire has damaged my life. But, here the heroine succeeds despite the damage.
I confess, Cleopatra was a character I really felt myself falling into. the other characters were, as a result, kind of in the background. That is an incredible heroine. Even though she literally needs saved by the end, she has strength and fortitude not usually given to females in such an obvious way.

I received an ARC of this book from NetGalley to read in exchange for a fair review. The Hellion by Christie Caldwell is the first book in her new series Wicked Wallflowers. It can obviously be read as a stand alone but many of the characters in this book were introduced in her previous series Sinful Brides so I would suggest reading them first. Adair Thorne has just lost everything once again to a devastating fire that destroyed the gambling hell he owned with his brothers. In the midst of trying to rebuild his life is upended by Cleopatra Killoran who’s family just happens to be the sworn enemies of his own family. They are thrown together in order to satisfy a pledge given by Adair’s family when Cleopatra helped to rescue his brothers wife. The Black family agreed to sponsor her during the season so that she could attract a Lord for a husband. There is a nice slow development of the relationship between this Romeo and Juliet as they discover that they are not so different after all and a bit of steam. I enjoyed reading this book and recommend it and the other books about the Black Family. Publishing Date April 3, 2018 #TheHellion #NetGalley

As a Caldwell regular, you learn to appreciate "the other side of the coin" quite readily given how many villians she's redeemed. But never before in my memory has the "redemption" seen forner foes find their HEA with each other. But that is Christi for you! She is a trailblazer who will forge ahead on hitherto unchartered territories with a brave face. Come to think of it, that is a perfect introduction for our heroine, Cleopatra, as well. She is ready to go where she's never been nor desired to be just to save her sisters from the odious fate. Adair - he is determined not to let his love sick brothers from blowing up the only thing that has ever mattered to him. But when Hell and Sin literally faces fire a confrontation with the enemy is unavoidable. Therein begins a tale of two H and h who literally have to be dragged to their HEA screaming, biting, throwing daggers and sulking. Christi weaves their story as effortlessly as a ton romance and the story never seems contrived. All in all a very good read.

While the Hell and Sin Club burned, Adair Thorne remembered the fire that killed his family and their place of business. Club competitor, Broderick Killoran, is a suspect even though his sister, Cleopatra, had arranged a truce between the clubs. Broderick wants Ryker Black’s wife, Penny, to introduce Cleo to society. Cleo moves into Ryker’s home but is closely watched by Adair as he doesn’t trust her. She is attracted to Adair but will never admit it. Adair, against his better judgment, is attracted to her also.

Cleo was walking around the house one night and heard Penny and Ryker’s baby crying. When she is discovered everyone thinks she hurt the babe, which she did not. She goes home but her brother makes her return. Cleo discovers Adair has made plans for a new club and is rebuilding. Another fire was set there, and Cleo was accused. Adair knows she did not start the fire, but who did? That is for you to read and discover as there is a lot more going on that I will not spoil.

This is a wonderful story and one of Christi’s best. I loved it and hope you’ll read it. I’m looking forward to rest of this series.

I was really looking forward to Adair's story and I love that it crossed over into this new series! Cleopatra was the perfect heroine to win his heart and I adored her spitfire attitude. The way they bonded over a similar incidents from their youth was the perfect thing to tear down the walls and bring these two together. The slow burn of this story was delicious, but I found myself wanting more heated moments between Adair and Cleopatra. I'm really looking forward to getting to know Cleopatra's sisters and seeing how the rivalry between the Killorans and Blacks will evolve now that they are bonded by a match!

The Hellion by Christi Caldwell is the First book in the Wicked Wallflowers series. This is the story of Adair Thorne and Cleopatra Killoran.
Although this is the first book in a new series this does tie in with the Sinful Brides series. Most of the main characters from the previous books are in this one. But this still can easily be a standalone book, I just wanted to mention that in case you would like to continue catching up with that series.
This book opens to following through with the agreement of the truce that everyone agreed too. Cleopatra goes forward to be the one that is sponsored by the rival group to introduce her into society.
Adair is devastated after his gambling club The Hell and Sin Club is burnt to a crisp. Adair firmly believes its the Killorna's group who caused the deviation, but they deny it. Adair and Cleopatra but heads left and right but Adair starts to learn who the real Cleopatra is.
This was another emotional page turner from Ms. Caldwell. Absolutely loved this story!

A five-star read.

This new series kicks off to a burning start with Adair Thorne's gaming-hell dream vanished into an inferno. His gut tells him that his competitors, the Killorans set his business ablaze .

Cleopatra, sister to Broderick Killoran, is a termagant who ignites desire and anger in Thorne in equal measures. And they are sponsoring her for a season to land a titled husband!

Thorne and Cleo are passionate creatures who love their respective families with passion and would do anything for them.

Both families agreed on being civil but their truce is so precarious and could break once Cleo's secret is made known.

Christi Caldwell has created a cornucopia of interesting characters in the underbelly of Regency London. These fierce, sensual characters are recurring in her past, present and undoubtedly future novels. Ms Caldwell is definitely getting better and better every time.

This is my honest review of the eGalley I voluntarily read.

This was an enthralling read. Adair and Cleopatra both come from the wrong side of London but their families are enemies. After initial hostile reaction to each other they begin to develop feelings for each other. However, they are aware that this would not please either of their families. There is also the mystery of who set the gambling hell on fire and what impact that may have on their relationship. This story reinforces how strong their family ties are and strengthened by the horrors of their childhood.
I received a copy and have voluntarily reviewed it. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

Christi Caldwell is my go for Regency/Historical romance. And she didn't disappoint this time either with the return to The Devil's Den and The Hell and Sin family's, with Adair Thorne and Cleopatra 'Cleo' Killoran's story.
Again, Ms. Caldwell takes us on an emotional journey with a beautifully written story. I did not want to put this book down.
I loved that their was animosity and hatred between Adair and Cleo. (Their families being enemies), in the beginning. Instead of the usual insta love you often find in romances. I smiled when he called her 'Hellion.' I adored Adair. And I loved Cleopatra. I loved how Bad*** she was for that time period. I felt for both of them with their childhoods. I loved the rooftop scene, when they were laying on their backs, looking at the sky. And when Cleo taught him to dance. And the ending?! OMG! One of the best! An amazing story.
I received an early ARC from Netgalley for an honest review.

Not the pretty side of the Regency, but I always like a trip to the dark side. I enjoyed Cleopatra's determination to do for her family and her skills for climbing. It took a bit for me to warm up to Adair, but once I did, this story became a great journey. Both of these characters had such big obstacles to work beyond but found they have some in common. Despite the feud and danger all around, Cleopatra and Adair get a chance at a love match.

I received a copy of this story through Netgalley, and it is a Book Obsessed Chicks Review Team selection. This is my unsolicited review.

The Hellion by Christi Caldwell
Wicked Wallflowers Series Book One
Adair Thorne is devastated when their business...and home...is ruined from arson. And they just know it's their nemesis—Killoran from the Devil's Den—no matter how much the Killorans deny it. Without proof, they have to honor their proof and Ryder Black has to give one of the Killoran sisters a Season.

Cleopatra Killoran will do anything to help her family. Even sacrifice herself by marrying one of the nobs—which she hates them all. Hates them as much as the Black family where she is forced to live for this Season.

Distrust is thick in the Black townhouse. They don't trust any Killorans—and Cleopatra doesn't trust any of the Blacks. But if she leaves, one of her sisters will have to take her place and that's not acceptable to her. A really great series!

Anytime, I can get my hands on a star-crossed lovers book, I am one happy lady, so when I had the chance to read Christi Caldwell’s The Hellion, I was ecstatic. From reading previous Caldwell books, I had very high expectations, and let’s just say that Caldwell blew my expectations out of the water. Cleopatra and Adair as far as I am concerned are the new “it” couple in the Caldwell universe.

The Hellion is her first book in the Wicked Wallflowers Series and continues the story of the owners of the Hell and Sin club from her Sinful Brides series. Adair is our last owner to get a story, and all I can say is it was worth the wait. I devoured this book soaking in every emotion Caldwell invokes with her writing, and boy can she pull emotions out of you that you didn’t even know you had.

When you throw Adair and Cleopatra together, there wasn’t any doubt with them coming from rival gaming hells that you were going to see some fireworks. What was surprising was even with the mistrust for each other still unresolved, the passion that came to the forefront in their encounters was just as explosive. Caldwell continuously tries to teach these two characters that they have more in common with each other than they think, but they fight her tooth and nail to hold on to their grudges and misinformation of their past. But even with their resistance, she takes these two on a path to friendship and love. But, let’s just say along that path Caldwell proves with every page of the Hellion that there is a thin line between love and hate.

Cleopatra was a character that I could identify with and therefore she has become a favorite of mine. She is a petite woman who loves her family and is loyal to them at all costs. She is tough from growing up on the streets, but to me her strength lies more in the sacrifices she is willing to make for her sisters than her ability to fight. I loved the fact that even with her doubts about Adair, she still managed to see the good in him.

Adair has physical strength from growing up on the streets and rising up to own a successful gaming hell, but on the inside, he isn’t as strong. He has fears of losing everything and going back to nothing, so when his gaming hell burns down, those fears he feels are close to becoming a reality. He embraces the hatred he feels for the Killoran’s, and blames them for his loss, so he wants nothing to do with Cleopatra. He has probably been one of my favorites to see brought to their knees with love. As his sister and each brother fell in love, he balked at that sentiment, but I knew if any author could do it that Caldwell could take a gruff character like Adair and find his sensitive side and soulmate.

If you haven’t picked up a Caldwell book yet, this is a great one to start with. Take my word that Christi Caldwell has become the leading lady in historical romance.

I was gifted this title as an ARC. This review represents my honest opinion.

I hate those romances where the H or h have some misunderstanding or won’t communicate something important to the other. This book was based on communication. Cleopatra and Aiden started out as bitter enemies, as their families owned rival gambling clubs. Because her family rescued one of Aidens brother’s wife from a kidnapping, they promised to give a woman from her family a season so she could find a socially connected husband.
When Cleopatra volunteers to go live in Blacks house and try to find a husband, she and Aiden warily began a friendship that led to love.
I’ve read the previous books about the other owners of the Hell and Sin club finding their wives. This book is as good as they were.

As an old fan of Caldwell, this seemed like a book I could get in to. I typically avoid novels that mention “big dark secrets” as it does nothing to annoy me. Historically, however, I have enjoyed everything I have read from Caldwell and have a soft spot for enemies to lovers stories.

The Hellion was no different. Written in Caldwell’s signature wit and humor. The Hellion is an intricate story powered by complex characters. Although there are many references to characters/situations established in other stories, it is not mandatory to read them to enjoy this novel. That being said, this is not a novel to be taken lightly. It is much heavier than just a simple rainy day read.

The sparks between the two main protagonists are fiery. The fiercely denied attraction that flares grows into a love tangible.
Cleopatra Killoran is going to have a season and marry a lord if she can survive the ton in general and Adair Thorn in particular.
Being thrown into the lair of the enemy, into Thorn's family stronghold, arch enemies of the Killoran's is a choice Cleopatra makes to protect her siblings. Adair is convinced that his gaming hall has been destroyed by the Killorans. He has no sympathy or trust for anyone to do with that family! Despite the attraction he fights every inch of the way! Riveting!

I’m a fan of Christi Caldwell. She is an excellent story teller. The Hellion is no exception to this. Maybe what draws me into the stories is that her characters a very vivid. The Hellion is the story of Adair Thorne and Cleopatra Killoran. It wasn’t love at first sight. Adair is one of the owners of the Hell and Sin club. Cleopatra is the sister to a rival club owner and nemesis. Adair’s family agrees to help launch Cleopatra into society for saving one of his sister in laws. Living under that same roof gives Adair a new perspective on Cleopatra and the sparks fly from there. The characters in this novel have not had an easy life growing up the hard way on the streets of St. Giles. Trust is a foreign concept to both of them. Cleopatra’s brother wants her to marry someone titled but you can’t fight destiny. If you have never read any Christi Caldwell books give this one a try. I received an ARC in exchange for an honest review.

I loved the Sinful Brides series and the Black family. The interaction of the sister and brothers really carries the stories. I was so looking forward to Adair’s story and his verbal contests with Cleopatra Killoran. The story moves a bit slow for me but in all fairness, maybe that is what was needed to tell the story of their learning to trust each other and not make snap judgements. I loved Adair but Cleopatra was kind of hard to get to know and become friends with during the course of the book. Overall it was a good story. Definitely looking forward to the other Killorans’ stories.

It was a wonderful love story. Two families with no love for each other. It's a test of Adair and Cleo's feelings what was first put in their hearts because of Diggory and for those feelings to change when they learn more about each other. The story was fun and I even in cried in a emotional moment. I absolutely love the stories Christi writes. I cant wait for the next one.

I love revisiting the family from the Hell and Sin club. Adair's story did not disappoint. This Romeo and Juliet story of warring families is a deep emotional journey as Adair and Cleo have suffered through the same abuses. Cleo is put in a position that any woman would wilt under, but she is a survivor. The story was frought with tension on many levels that made you hold you breath until the very end. Once again we are delivered heartfelt characters with a rich story line that doesn't disappoint. I can't wait for the rest of the stories in this series!

I loved this book so much! Master storyteller, Christ Caldwell, has worked her incredible magic again. The Hellion is the first in the Wicked Wallflowers series but is tied in with the Sinful Brides series where we have met many of the main characters before. This is Adair Thorne and Cleopatra Killoran's story - a more unlikely pair than you will ever meet. Their families are bitter enemies and rivals in the business of gaming establishments during the Regency period in London. The Hell and Sin Club has been destroyed by fire and Adair is left reeling with anger and hatred and he knows that the only the Black family could have done it.
Cleopatra Killoran has been taken in by the Black family after she rescued a family member from a thug. The Black family agreed to introduce her to society by sponsoring her for a Season and Adair is her guard and escort. Their story evolves very dramatically from there. It is fraught with danger, suspense and just about every human emotion possible.
I could not put this book down and I think that I felt every human emotion while reading it. I am looking forward to more books from this series. Christi will keep working her magic and I will continue to be on pins and needles waiting for the next book. I received a complimentary copy in return for an honest review.

The Hellion is the uniting of the Black family owners of the Hell an Sin Gaming Hell and the Killoran family of the Devils Den Gaming Hell. Two rival gangs that hate each other are untied in a cause to make the Killoran's expectable in the eyes of the Ton. The Black family has already made this transition so to make a peaceful truce they will help the Killoran's. They will bring out Cleopatra Killoran and help her find a proper Lord to marry. Oh but not so fast Adair Thorn who is brother to Ryker Black and runs the Hell and Sin club might have a different opinion.

The story moves very slow. The hatred of Cleo and Adair have toward each other goes on far to long. There love story is not believable!! It just takes too long for the couple to become a loving couple. Sorry this is not one of Christi Caldwell's best works. It needs more sexual spice and more companionship or love adventures between Adair and Cleo.

This is the first book in a new series but it picks up where the previous series, Sinful Brides, left off. What I liked about that series and this book is that it doesn't take place among the ton. The stories take place around the Hell and Sin Club.

Wow this book had my emotions going to all their limits. I felt so bad for both of the main characters. To grow up with such fear and hatred for other's makes me so sad. And for Cleo to be forced to live with a group she grew up hating must have been the worse. But I am so glad she found love and trust in the end. My hand was shooting into the air at the end of the story. Thank you Christi Caldwell for making my life fuller with your wonderful stories.

Christi Caldwell is always an automatic purchase for me. Her stories and characters have the ability to sweep away the stress of everyday life
and deposit you clearly in Regency England. However, in this book, Christi has transcended her usual ability and created a story that’s even more spectacular.

The raging inferno that begins the book continues metaphorically throughout the book as the chemistry between Adair and Cleopatra fairly leaps off the page. But this is a story about more than heat and desire. It’s truly a story where two people, scarred by the streets and life, find a love stronger than betrayal.

There’s every reason Cleo and Adair shouldn’t be together. Their families operate two rival gaming hells. There is no reason for trust between them at first. But understanding and confidences quickly build a relationship that can cross those enemy lines.

I received this book as an ARC, however the opinions are all mine.

This story becomes very interesting fast and the attraction between Cleopatra and Adair is off the hooks. It was fun to read this story.

** I received a copy of this book from NetGalley in exchange for an honest review**

I liked this story and how it wasn't about lords and ladies but about the people who rose from the streets. A good story for some light romantic reading. Always liked a strong woman as the main character.

Recency romance readers rejoice. Christi Caldwell has done it again. Star crossed lovers come together from rival gangs, to form friendship and an everlasting love. Adair Thorne, brother to the notorious Ryker Black, and Cleopatra Killoran, sister of Broderick Killoran come to terms with there past to forge a new future together. This can be read as a stand alone, however I recommend reading the entire series leading up to this great book. I can only wait till the next wicked wallflower book to be released.

??
A very special book .
What makes it so special?
Adair Thorne?
Cleopatra Killoran ?
It’s both those and so much more .
It’s the fact that Christi has created these two characters.
Characters that are hard , unrelenting, unreachable, and she developed them .
That evolution is not easy , these people were born , raised and live in St.Giles , it’s a rough relentless, environment.
But by putting the two together she’s created something totally unique, a couple who need each other more than they ever realised , a man and woman with desire, love and a wish for a life wholly different but the same as they have now , and they never knew.
They are special and so is the result of their joining forces, they don’t loose their identities they keep their rough edges , don’t become soft or different in any way , they add to themselves, another dimension is created , love .
I adored this book , the whole journey was enlightening and emotional.
It’s definitely one of my favourites .
Very Highly Recommended!

The Hellion is my first Christi Caldwell book and I was amazingly surprised at how good it is. The Hellion, as Cleopatra is named, is a fitting name by the life she has lived with her courage, loyalty and honor. Her family is accused of setting a fire to Adair’s club and she is sure they did not. He is sure they did. Their two family’s a feud to rival the Hatfield and McCoy families, except the Kiloran and Black families are feuding with current day rivalries.

Due to a debt determined in a previous book, the Thorne family must assist a Kiloran in marrying into the ton to a peer of the realm. Enough is shared in this book that you are not left wondering what happened in the previous book. Members of Adair’s have married ladies of the ton to give them the possibility of assisting Cleo in marriage. Adair and family feel as if they have taken a viper into their midst and struggle with trusting Cleopatra. The wives, on the other hand, believe the debt must be paid and are willing to trust and befriend Cleo.

Adair and Cleopatra have a very volatile relationship at best. They struggle with hating each other even as they are drawn together. They cannot seem to stop kissing each other, so decide it best to avoid each other. Even that is not working because Adair is supposed to be ‘guarding’ Cleo. Cleo, innocently, helps Adair with the plans to rebuild the club helping to win him over somewhat. Their relationship slowly begins to build a trust that is tenuous, but real. The whole of their time together, Cleo contends her family did not start the destroying fire, a constant argument.

Once things come to light, they both learn a lot about what is important. This is really a great book, but it is not light-hearted, nor is it really dark. There is the over hanging pall of a cruel man with whom both families were connected. And, their life in the darker parts of London have helped to mold them, too.

Adair Thorne was orphaned approximately 20 years ago after a fire that consumed his father’s bakery. He now remembers that loss keenly. He is devastated and at a loss. The Hell & Sin was the only thing he ever wanted and strived for. It gave him shelter and stability-things he did not have much of after losing his parents. Adair is also feeling rage, he knows the fire at the Hell & Sin was deliberately set, he even knows by whom-Killoran. Killoran is the owner of a rival Club and someone they owe a debt to. To repay this debt, Adair’s family was to sponsor a Season for one of Killoran’s sisters. The truce is almost voided but since Adair and his brothers have no proof they must follow-through.

Cleopatra is jaded from a life lived on the streets and has a tough outer shell. There is no love loss between her and the nobility. Knowing her brother Killoran wants an “in” to the nobility via marriage to one of his sister’s, Cleo volunteers. She does not like it but will do anything in her power to keep her sisters safe.

When Cleo and Adair first meet, sparks fly! They hate and mistrust each other from the get-go but underneath it all there is attraction on both sides. During her stay at Ryker’s house, Adair is to be Cleo’s guard and jailer. As time goes by, Cleo and Adair come to be tentative friends. He learns that she is smart and resilient while Cleo learns how kind and caring Adair really is.

What can go wrong while harnessing an explosive secret as well as living with and being attracted to the enemy?

This story, told in dual POV, reeled me in from the very beginning. It is written extremely well and the flow is perfect. This book was exciting and engaging. The battle between Adair and Cleo was entertaining.

I loved how Cleopatra, all but five feet tall, got under Adair’s skin so easily. She may have a petite stature, but her presence more than makes up for it. She is strong, fearless, brazen and opinionated. She stands up for her family and would do anything to keep them from harm.

I felt for Adair, he had so much tragedy in his life and had nothing permanent or lasting. The way he slowly wins over Cleo with small steps is beautiful.

There is no insta-love here, these characters have to work for what they want. And what they come to want and need is stability, trust, constancy and love. They find this together against all odds.

The only problem I had was it seemed both Adair and Cleo were classist. Although I understand and agree with their distrust of the Ton, I would have like to see the characters come to terms with this and move on from their hatred and distrust.

Christi definitely won me over with this book. It’s a touching and heartfelt read. I would recommend this to those who love fun and engaging verbal sparring between their main characters as well as a wonderfully written historical romance.

Thank you to NetGalley and Montlake Romance for the ARC. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

Hate is a powerful emotion. So can love, but to get to the later hate has to die first. Adair Thorne has hated those that came from the Diggory Gang since he was a boy tortured by that notorious gang leader and that includes the Kiloran siblings. Now the Blacks have to keep to the end of a bargain they reached with one Cleopatra Kiloran, which is to help one of her sisters snag a lofty lord for a husband. But when their gaming hell is burned down they believe the Kilorans are to blame and the little spitfire that comes to his friend's home to talk about the fire and bargain, sparks both his ire and his blood.

Cleopatra hates all things Black and she enjoys teasing Adair the most, but when she decides that it should be her sacrificed to the betterment of her family’s ambitions and finds herself living in the Black residence, she finds it next to impossible to avoid Adair. Their slow build to a friendship and then love was steady and entertaining to watch. Both characters were strong and well developed and both were very headstrong that the back and forth between the two kept the story going. The conflicts developed were both intense and hard to overcome, but when they are, the happy ever after is that much more wonderful to see. I enjoyed their story and want to go back and read about the other members of the Black gang because going into this first book in this spin-off series made it quite clear that it wasn’t the start for the characters and all of them are fascinating and interesting that I want more from them. I loved Adair and Cleopatra.

I voluntarily read an Advance Review Copy of this book through Netgalley. Black’s family was to present Cleo to the ton and help her find a man with a title to marry. Cleo, Queen of the Devil’s Den, has no desire to marry but will sacrifice for her family. While at Black’s townhouse Adair is to watch her for security reasons. Cleo is a spitfire until she gets to know Adair and then she begins to feel things that she thought was impossible. Adair, by the same token, came to see Cleo as the only woman he wanted to share his life with. Cleo has a hard time adjusting to being introduced to the ton, escaping with Adair always finding her which has a calming effect on her. The book is well written and captivates you to the very end. It contains previous rivalry between their two hell clubs, Adair’s club burned to the ground, Cleo’s family accused, her introduction to the ton and the closeness between Adair and Cleo grows. Another fire and Cleo almost losses her life and Adair rescues her. This is a great historical romance and I highly recommend it. There is so much to the book that you need to read it to get the full story.

I was given an ARC of this book through NetGalley and the publishers for an honest review.
The main character of Adair Thorne was featured in all of the Sinful Brides series and I was hoping for him to have a book of his own. He is not a very trusting and angry man but with the meeting of Cleopatra Killoran the sister of his and his brother hated enemy he seems to be more so. I loved the character of Cleopatra who has had to face many horrendous trials in her life, she has a great deal of hidden strength and I think she was the right choice to pair her off with Adair. I do not want to give away any spoiler but I will say read the book but also I would recommend that if you have not read the Sinful Brides series do so before you enjoy this book. It will give you a more insight on the other characters that are mentioned in this story. Thank you Christi Caldwell for another introduction to another wonderful series Wicked Wallflowers. It will be great to see all of Cleopatra family get their HEA.

This was an enjoyable historical romance. It was probably a spin-off of another series, and though some of the characters from that series make a lot of appearances and that left me at an arm's length at first, I quickly warmed up to the story and both Cleopatra and Thorne. The series name says it all, these heroines are not your usual, they come from the streets, they know their way around trouble, but perhaps that makes them all the more likable.

I liked reading the romance blossoming between Cleopatra and Thorne, the fact that they started out as enemies-coming from rival families- was such a fun detail. They bickered and fought hard against this romance, but in the end, when they finally succumbed, it was very believable and sweet. Can't wait to read the rest of the series, and probably the ones before this as well.

This was an amazing book!

Adair and Cleo are so attracted to each other they really just rub each other the wrong way but yet always find themselves in each other’s way. There’s many roadblocks that they both face before they realize that even though they come from opposing rival gangs they have the same goals in the familly.....survival.
This is one fast paced intriguing read! Lots of action, mystery and plenty of sizzle to keep you glued to the pages.
Christy Caldwell does not disappoint! Can’t wait to read the next one!

I recieved a complimentary copy from the publisher through NetGalley. This is my honest opinion.

I enjoyed reading this splendid story, that made me laughed, shrieked in outrage, and sighed in contentment. The story progressed steadily, has well developed characters with witty dialogue and a developing plot . I genuinely liked all the characters and the story kept me riveted. The romance develops naturally and the H & h and they are well suited despite the family conflict. This story has a very sweet and satisfying HEA! Although I would like an epilogue but I am excited for the next book in this series!

I enjoyed this book & the reminder of what it would have been like to be born on the wrong side of the tracks back then. I rooted for Adair & Cleopatra from the beginning but they has some big obstacles to overcome. Family, loyalty to siblings & all the emotions that go with it pulled you into their lives. I highly recommend this to all historical romance readers!

Another good romance from a good author. Cleopatra Killoran is the hellion who learns to love her match in Adair Thorne. If you have read the previous stories of the Hell and Sin Club, you will recognize all the characters, though they have only supporting roles in this story of love and trust redeemed.

Another amazing read. Great to see much loved characters from the Sinful Brides series again, and to enjoy the journey to happily ever after of the final Hell and Sin brother. Saying that, however, the story comfortably stands alone. The story is an enemies to lovers one, with both the hero and heroine staunchly belonging to opposing sides. There are several twists and turns which take the reader on an exciting journey and make The Hellion incredibly difficult to put down! Absolutely loved it, and can not wait for the next instalment.

The heroine of this book was an awesome lady with admirable characteristics. Cleopatra was witty, honest, and capable. Mistrust turns to trust, dislike to love, and the importance of relationships over materialistic things are all explored here.

I love it! That's all I can think right now. Adair and Cleopatra are from rival street gangs. Whereas Adair and his siblings broke away from their cruel leader to forge their own path. Cleopatra and her siblings remained under Diggory's rule. Each gang built their fierce reputation and power. They've both also built successful gaming establishments. Which is another point of contention between them. With the anger, animosity, and mistrust among them they are far more alike than different. It isn't til a deal is brokered. Adair's brother Ryker is to sponsor one of Killoran's (rival gang leader) sister's for a London season. Killoran sees this as an opportunity to secure entry into the peerage and security for his family. Tensions ride significantly when Killoran suggests the sister would be residing with Ryker for the season. Everyone goes on red alert. Trust no one. Cleopatra has dubbed herself the unofficial protector of her siblings. She volunteers to put on the market in place of her sisters. She will sacrifice herself for them. When she enters Ryker's home, she is immediately met with suspicion, mistrust, and seen as the enemy. Some habits are hard to break and this lot have more than a few bad ones. It was a decision that Cleopatra didn't fully think through. That she was truly walking into the unknown for a union with a stranger and that her life was about to change. Cleopatra and Adair butted heads several times from beginning to the end of this book, but the journey was well worth it. Both were fierce in their own right. They helped shape each other and grow. It was beautiful. I would highly recommend this book to and so glad I was finally able to pick it up. My tbr got backed due to school, moving, etc. You won't be disappointed. Off to read the next book!!

My review would probably not be so scathing, if I didn't know Caldwell CAN write much better than this. I didn't even finish this one - roughly 1/3 way through and stopped. While the technicalities of the writing were adequate; the character development was awful. And page after page was filled with anger and hostility as two 'gangs' fought over gambling territory (at one point, author mentions they are from opposite sides of London? Hmmm....) Think really awful version of West Side Story. The improbability of street urchins rising into the aristocracy wouldn't have been so hard to swallow; if the characters weren't so poorly developed and the focus of the story wasn't constantly mired in trivial details and disjointed scenes. Gang violence, regardless of the century, is rarely romance material; but, if handled correctly, it can enhance a plot. In this case, it overwhelmed the romance. There were so many characters introduced in the first chapters, I had a hard time figuring out who the romantic leads were. One I did, I could see no redeeming qualities, no believable growth/maturity in the short time the H/h would have to fall in love - which made it hard to get into the story and sympathize. It was like watching kindergartners playing 'house'. I have enjoyed other Caldwell books and had already bought the next book in this series (pre-ordered), but have set it aside for now. I need to let the vitriol from this one dissipate before I take on another of her books in this series. I recognize, it is hard for an author to take on the Dickensian aspects of poverty during the early 1800s with sensitivity to twenty-first century expectations. Often, the reader has to suspend some elements of cultural identity and belief; but even allowing for that, I couldn't get past the feeling this was written just to meet a publishing deadline. This one could have benefited from better editing, as scenes were often disjointed and mired in redundant details. Everyone randomly whipping out guns and knives with little-to-no purpose other than to emphasize the rivalry between two street gangs (again, cue choreography of West Side Story). Even the loyalties and closeness between "siblings' is lost in the quagmire of violence and revenge ad nauseum. You especially alienated me when the heroine and hero pull weapons on each other with intent to truly injure/possibly kill; but, instead wrestle and get aroused. I almost anticipated a rape given how that scene (escort to the bedroom) was shaping up. Authors are allowed a few misses. I have not given up on Caldwell; she is a good author. I just hope, the rest of the series isn't so shallow.

In this story Cleopatra, sister to Broderick Killoran and therefore a sworn enemy of the Hell and Sin family, goes to live in Ryker Black's townhouse for a season so they can help her find a titled husband. There she gets to know Adair Thorne, who has been assigned to keep an eye on her. Cleo was nearly intolerable for me in the first few chapters, but she improved the more she and Adair grew together.

This gets the full 5 stars because of how much I liked Adair and how much I liked seeing good character growth. That said, I did not like Cleopatra and I don't think she really deserved him. I couldn't connect to her until the latter half of the book when she finally quit mocking him and snarling at him and started treating him like a person. It was refreshing to see a hero open up first though, as he starts offering her small bits of himself before she really begins to trust him. I didn't like this one as much as I've enjoyed the other Christi Caldwell's I've read thus far, but it was still a very good one nonetheless.
