I really loved the book. It's an easy read, coming alive with personal stories. While the content is not super heavy I picked up lots of ideas, strategies and inspiration, especially on content ideas and creation.

As of now, I don't vlog. Instead, I podcast. But, there is still so much valuable advice and story-telling in this book no matter what media vehicle you choose to create content, give great information, and build engaged fans. Whether you blog, vlog, podcast, etc, Amy delivers so much fantastic information and motivation. It's one of the things I've admired most about her since I started watching her Savvy Sexy Social channel in 2015. She doesn't hold back. It's always about value, value, value with Amy.

A total game changer for me. I picked it up based on the store recommending it based on other books I've read, and I was so surprised at how excellent it was. I finished it in a single sitting, but have been referring back to it since. Since I'm just starting on video to help boost inbound traffic to my business, Amy's tips and sound advice has already been a tremendous help.

I have followed Amy for many years. My wife and I are REALTORS® in Phoenix AZ. We have truly struggled with the best ways to marry video into our real estate business. Amy's knowledge and insight into the world of video has been helpful, but I got to tell ya, Amy's new book, Vlog Like A Boss, has truly helped us focus even more tightly on what we have been missing. Amy's willingness to share her knowledge is advanced with love and the energy that eclipses most 'Super Stars' so... in our opinion, Amy is beyond a Super Star, not only in the world of video but as a loving, giving and thoughtful human on this planet. Thank you Amy for your selfless giving of yourself and your knowledge. Lori & G-II, REALTORS® in Phoenix AZ. / G-II, Arizona State Director VARep (Veterans Association of Real Estate Professionals)

Felt betrayed. I don't want to Vlog to the whole world on Youtube. I want to vlog to my clients. Locally. I learned 90% of what was in this book in Marketing studying for my MBA. Learned nearly all the rest by simply carefully watching Youtube vlogs. Yes, I read the whole thing hoping to glean back the purchase price. No, I did not. It's not technical, didn't expect that. Hoped to learn a strategy for communicating with current and prospective clients.Learned too much about Amy.

There are some very basic strategies outlined but the author doesn’t provide any depth. Given her experience I wished she would have shared more insight around what has worked particularly well for her and why

i've already posted a review that seems to have been scrubbed on audible; it was not personal in nature, vulgar, or even highly critical, so beware of the high star ratings for this.

I read this having been on YouTube for 4 months and did not learn a single thing. This might be good for a very very beginner, but there is nothing specific or deep here!

Easily 65% of the book is just her personal anecdotes about unrelated stuff (I don't care about her personally, I bought it because I want to learn how to VLOG LIKE A BOSS, hello), another 25% is rah-rah JUST DO IT type non-specific motivational content, while only 15% or so is specific and actionable (for example, she recommends jump cuts so that viewers ever hear her breathing and the total video time is shorter.) She's got a lot of stans, which is fine, but they are blowing up these reviews to make the book seem much more vital than it is. I feel I wasted my money.

Amy, Amy, Amy… How I’ve waited for this day!

I’ve been anticipating the release of “Vlog Like A Boss” since the day Amy Schmittauer announced she was writing it, and I’m happy to say that the book MORE than delivers!

While I’ve been a fan of Amy’s YouTube Channel - SavvySexySocial - for a couple of years, until now I’ve never been able to make myself create and publish an actual video. I just didn’t know where to start. I had sooo many questions! Like - What should I create content about? How often should I create and post a video? Didn’t I need all sorts of expensive gear to make videos? How does video content tie in with other social media? Sooo many questions, AND - one GIANT mental block - What if my videos SUCK?

It has been all of these these “start-up” questions that have really derailed me in my efforts.

Well - In “Vlog Like A Boss,” Amy answers all these questions and more! I just finished the book, and I’ve already followed her instructions to determine my “Why” for video creation, nailed down my ideal viewer persona (Awesome Angie!), and developed a content plan and topic brainstorming list.

I’ve learned I can start with the gear I’ve already got on hand and know how to use (my phone!). And I’ve learned that while, YES - my first video(s) will likely suck, I HAVE to create and publish them in order to learn the skills I need to master this medium. And that it’s OK for them to suck! Really!

As Amy says in the book, “You don’t build a portfolio and a career of over 1,000 videos waiting for conditions to be perfect.” You have to “use what you have and do it now!”

Chapter 7 - where she outlines her ‘Authority Video Formula’ is worth the price of the book alone! I’ve watched so many YouTube videos that DON’T follow this formula, and I can’t tell you how many times they’ve lost me within the first 30 seconds after I’ve press “Play.” Amy’s formula - simple, yet time-tested, will help keep that from happening to you!

I also enjoyed learning about Amy’s path to becoming the superstar vlogger she is today. So often when we watch our icons do what they do and do it so well, we forget that they started out just like us - anxious newbies. Reading about Amy’s journey helps me believe that I, too, can learn to “Vlog Like A Boss!”

Amy has a best seller on her hands. She not only goes through tips for vlogging like you've been doing it all your life, she also gets you set up with a strategy, goals and who your audience is going to be. These are all important things for people online, especially vloggers.

I am particularly drawn to the part in chapter five where Amy talks about practice. She points out that until you actual publish the vlog, practice has not really occurred. Yes, you've recorded video but you haven't put yourself out there yet. You have to put yourself out there to actually practice.

If you will EVER have a need for online video, you need to pick up this book and read it. I did receive an advance copy of this book but was under no obligation to review it. All opinions are totally my own.

I started following Amy back in 2015. What impressed me the most about her is her authenticity and desire to help others get started in video.

Her channel is full of lots of tips for any new blogger or blogger to get them focused on what truly matters connecting with her audience. She has a straight forward friendly approach and she makes videos you remember.

I was so excited she launched her first book- Vlog Like A Boss and was curious what more Amy had out there that she hadn't put on her channel. She as always doesn't disappoint.

The book is THE guide for anyone online looking to make their mark and build their brand with video. And seriously in this day and age, we all should be using video.

I love her walk through of her first video and how to conquer fears about getting in front of the camera. She also breaks up how to create a video content calendar that works for you- along with a great list on how to expand on your topics!

But what's most important about this book is that Amy really wants to see you succeed and build your business. She lays out the perfect blueprint for any aspiring vlogger to follow. This is one I will be keeping on my bookshelf along with #AskGaryVee and referring to over and over again.

Great book and I highly recommend it for anyone who is thinking about starting a YouTube Channel or anyone who has recently started a channel. I bought the audio version and was able to finish it within 4 days commuting back and forth to work. Amy provided very helpful tips for finding your "YouTube Voice" and ways in which you can present good, usable content for your subscribers. I give it 4.5 stars. I took off a half a star because I felt the beginning of the book was a bit slow. I almost didn't listen to the rest of it, but I'm glad I did though because she provides great information.

I have been watching Amy's videos for several years now and there are very few people who I actually follow their video content and Amy is one of them. She knows what she is talking about and in this book reveals how you can do it as well. While I have not done as much video as I would have liked this book may motivate and inspire me to start doing it. This book is filled with practical insight and advice for how you can realistically implement video blog content into your content plan. I highly recommend this if you have any consideration of doing video content.

Amy Schmittauer does everything short of physically popping out of the book to guide you to creating online video. While focused on YouTube vlogging, the elements of this book translate easily to other platforms.

The book is divided into three parts, the first which focuses on gaining clarity of vision and purpose. The second part focuses on infrastructure and organization of content themes. The third part focuses on implementation, and addresses many technical aspects of creating online video content.

Amy Schmittauer is direct and to the point, a student of the Gary Vaynerchuck school of less talk, more action. This book is for those who are ready to work. No flashy promises, no extended stories, just real information.

In "Vlog Like a Boss," Amy Schmittauer tells you everything you need to know about online video -- how to get over your fears, set a goal, grow a community, encourage engagement and coming up with a strategy -- while being funny at the same time.

Before reading this book, I considered my YouTube channel a business, as in "Yeah, I'd like to make money from this thing." During the course of reading this book, I identified who my ideal client is, what my strategy is to attract and keep that client, and what makes me so special versus the thousands of book reviews out there.

This is awesome.

One of my favorite concepts is this idea of using "buckets" to schedule content. When Amy is cleaning her house, she puts similar items into a bucket, making it easier to put them in their intended places. The same concept can be used for online video. Instead of saying "I'm going to read one non-fiction book per week and review it" (talking about myself here), create buckets to differentiate content from one video to the next. It creates a little variety.

I could stick purely to book reviews and create buckets based on the type of book, say "Business," "Biography," and "Personal Development." The first week would feature a business book, such as "Entreleadership." The second week, a biography, such as "The Autobiography of Benjamin Franklin." The third week, a personal development book, such as "The Power of Now." These are all books I have on my shelf that I'd like to read, but with the bucket concept, I can achieve a true sense of variety.

I could also deviate from the purely book-review format and create buckets for "Book Review," "News about Lifelong Learning," and "Monthly Recap." This would allow me to save the book reviews for only those books that absolutely knocked my socks off. The books that were "good" or "alright" would get a quick review in the monthly recap.

I've long been a fan of Amy's YouTube channel, Savvy Sexy Social, where she talks about online business and social media. I used her advice as a wedding photographer, then when I started my mom channel, and now, with my book review channel. She has so much content available for free online so you can figure out if her style works for you.

[Note: I literally screamed when I found out I was receiving an advanced copy of this book for free. That's how much I wanted to read this book. My opinions are my own, and I was not persuaded to change them in any way, shape or form.]

Vlog Like A Boss: How To Kill It Online With Video Blogging by Amy Schmittauer

I was given a free copy of this book for an honest review. All opinions are my own.

I have been a fan of YouTube star and social media expert Amy Schmittauer for a couple of years now. So when I heard that she was writing and
publishing a book on video marketing, I knew I had to get myself a copy. I was even more stunned when I was sent an email with an advance reading copy (ARC) of this incredible book, and I'm so honored to be one of the lucky ones to get to dive headfirst into this eye-opening book.

The book, or memoir or "how-to" book in question is called Vlog Like A Boss: How To Kill It Online With Video Blogging by Amy Schmittauer, and I can honestly say that this is one of the most insightful YouTube and video marketing books I've ever read. Over the last few years I've read some marketing books, but this one does a masterful job of detailing the process of getting into making video and explaining it in a way that both
seasoned filmmakers and aspiring YouTubers both can understand.

One thing that jumped out immediately was how Amy was able to write in a voice that spoke to everyone, from the young millennial eager to make their own YouTube channel to the experienced business owner who's seeking a helping hand using video for their work. Using fun and fascinating tales from her own life to help explain the process, this book goes to great lengths to outline the entire video process, from identifying the common fears of being on camera, to the equipment one will need for video and editing, to the way to identify with your audience and create a
video that will resonate with viewers.

Overall, this was a fantastic read that was both enjoyable and instructive. As someone trying to build and improve on my own YouTube channel, I
can tell you that this book has been illuminating. Taking the tools I learned from this book, I can identify problem areas with my filming, and
improve on it. From ways to generate ideas to what social media platforms work best and how they work with your videos, this is a book any
video creator will not want to miss. Inspiring, educational, and all around fun, Vlog Like A Boss by Amy Schmittauer is a must read book in
2017, and thus I give it a 10/10 rating. I hope you guys will pre-order your copies of this book today. Vlog Like A Boss comes out on January 31st, 2017!

If you want to create content that your customers will love using video, you need to learn from the best.

Meet Amy. She is the best.

I found Amy's youtube channel when trying to figure out how to navigate setting up my own YouTube channel. Amy walked me through the basics (how to schedule a video to post at a later date) and the advanced (why you need content structure). Amy generously shared so much knowledge there, that I jumped at the chance to get her book where she lays it all out.

In Vlog Like A Boss Amy takes you to school on not only the how's of video, but also the WHYs. Video is dominating the internet these days and gives business owners the best shot at making a personal connection with their clients. She will convince you that this is something you need to do. It's not just another box to tick, but something that can provide tangible ROI to your company.

I received an advance copy of this book but loved it so much I bought a hard copy too!

One of the things I look for with books by so-called "experts" is whether the content in the book matches their behavior. This is particularly important when the person is a vlogger or digital personality and writing a book on the subject.

Very much like one of her influences, VaynerMedia CEO, Gary Vaynerchuk, Amy stays in her lane with Vlog Like A Boss and only talks about subject matter she actually knows. That's how I quickly knew this book would be good. I can't stand when people write as experts on material they have no experience with.

Vlog Like A Boss is well thought out and an easy read. And let me tell you, I'm a person who doesn't consume content in books very well. I'm a very visual person. Amy's writes exactly like she talks on her Savvy Sexy Social vlog. Personable and fun. She comes across as your close friend from college who happens to be one of today's leading experts in the digital realm.

Big time kudos to her. If you want a strong framework for Vlogging, this is the book to get.

This is an excellent book. I'm not sure I will ever feel comfortable putting myself in front of the camera, but I read it thinking it would give me ideas on how to improve my blog. So many good ideas!

I loved the voice of Amy throughout the book. It was like watching her in video form in my head as I read her book. I highly recommend reading this book if you are considering starting a vlog or YouTube channel. At the very least, go to YouTube and subscribe to the Amy Landino channel. Vlog Like a Boss: How to Kill It Online with Video Blogging

Hands Down BEST Book On Vlogging Out There!

I follow Amy on her social media platforms, and find myself often binge watching her YouTube videos because, yeah, they are THAT good! lol :)

I've already bought & read the hard copy of this book and just bought the audiobook to carry around on my iPod with me as a refresher wherever I go which was TOTALLY worth it.

I'm new on the scene to vlogging and Amy's book is without question my "go to" book. Whether you are new to vlogging or just want to step up your game, this book has something for everyone!

Amy's personality is animated, relatable & engaging and she has mastered the art of the all important KLT factor (Know/Like/Trust) just by being herself.

Way to go, Amy! Thank you for putting in all that hard work to create such an amazing resource for someone like myself who is just trying to figure out where and how to begin as we navigate the difficult but super fun journey of vlogging! ;)

Can we talk about needs and wants? You NEED this book if you WANT to be successful with video. End. Of. Story.
Amy shares her insight and advice in a "no-holding-back" fashion that is easy to understand and makes sense to follow. I took so many notes, did so much highlighting and tabbing in this book that I'm already reading it again. I've shared it with everyone I know who needs to be on the video-train. Even my husband! I can't wait to watch my posting schedule, video quality and connection to my potential clients and subscribers grow!
Thanks for a poignant and necessary read Amy. Your advice is astounding and real!

I really enjoyed this book, it was helpful. I listened to the audio version and Amy did an incredible job with the narration. What I didn't love is how short it was. I think it was 4hrs 50mins and it ended kind of abruptly. Also there were illustrations in the book and there was no pdf to accompany the audio version. I went to vlog like a boss website and didn't see anything. Possible I missed it in the book but it could have been easier to access. Overall I really liked it, Amy is a talanted, dedicated and smart young woman. I would recommend.

A supremely practical book that will teach you all you need to know to get started vlogging on YouTube. Amy’s tone of voice is professional with a bit of snarkiness. Just like in her vlogs. If you combine what you learn from this book with some basic SEO knowledge, you’ll hit the ground running on your YouTube channel.

Fear of the camera stops many people from producing content that others want to see. Amy puts everything out there for you to understand why you can actually crush it! She explains what you need to know to kill it and VLOG like a boss. I have had doubts about being able to produce a quality VLOG, Amy showed me how to get past that, how to think, and how to organize to gain a following that is loyal. Now is the time to get off the fence, set my goals, and help people. Amy's guidance covers well beyond VLOG's, so even if you are only ready to start a blog or are diving into social media for the first time this book will help position yourself for that move into video when you are ready. I enjoyed reading Amy's book and look forward to putting her wisdom into practice.

Amy got her voice down with this book, I can just imagine her talking directly to us if you know her from her YouTube channel. Lots of actionable advice here to start and maintain a vlogging channel for newbies like me and some more experienced vloggers who'd like to up their game. Her advice is very applicable and she doesn't focus too much on expensive equipment (which can become outdated quickly) or obsessive metrics and puts the focus on the audience instead (just one of her strategies for example). Highly recommended read if you'd like to start vlogging soon!

I actually won Amy's book during her promotion when the book was released. Once I finally got on it, I pounced... then it slowed down - bad habit of mine. Forced myself to finish! THere were quite a few useful tips that I have applied to my YouTube channel - since we can't post URLs, just look for my name, Peter KJ RIchter. I also have her book review there as well ;)

Even thought Amy's book starts off with, "If you're not ready, stop here", which may discourage some. I said just do it! If you don't take that inital step to start vlogging, you may never... Follow her advice and steps, read the chapter on overcoming fears of vlogging, because I think lots of people get hung up on using equipment, am I ready? etc etc.

Amy also has an audio book too, which is great if reading isn't for you. Bottom line? Just get the book already, and get yourself out there!

When you want to learn how to do something, you have to find a person in the trenches doing it successfully. There are a lot of people who are vlogging, but only a few do it with the success that Amy has reached! In her book, she takes you step-by-step from defining a vlog, getting over common fears, strategizing, coming up with vlog ideas, and even how to promote on social media. And maybe the best part of all of this? Amy's book is written in an easy conversational format that feels like you are sitting down having a chat with her over coffee. :-)
