This book made me laugh and cry. This book is for everyone especially if you have a friend that you would go to great lengths for! Olive's antics are driven by her nervousness. This only amps up the entertainment encompassed within this book!

So off the beaten romance path. In a grand way! The. characters are so odd in a loveable want to hang out with them and be a part of their odd circle. Brewster is the best friend everyone should have.

I am from Oldham like the author so I was excited to see this novel as part of Kindle unlimited. I began reading with no prior knowledge of the author and no expectations but I thoroughly enjoyed this novel. I have a Master’s in British Victorian lit and work as a writer (in marketing), and I found once I’d hit 60% I couldn’t put it down. I stayed up late one night trying to find out what would happen to quirky play-it-safe Olive and the array of offbeat characters. It’s part fun, rom-com, and wish-fulfillment in one.

If you don't mind figuring out the GB vs USA language idioms, this is a great read. It starts out slow, but when Olive starts out on her adventure the laughs never end. Then ending is superbly crafted, and quite unexpected. Would recommend to anyone looking for an escape with romance and humor.

I loved this book.
It was so funny, but not the kind of funny where it’s obvious that the author is trying too hard. I was laughing at loud as I read. It only is it hilarious, but it’s touching as well. I would most definitely recommend it :)

Do you need a book to lighten your mood? I never laughed so hard. I couldn't see the words on the page through the tears. The friendship between Olive and Birdie makes me hope that I would be as good a friend to someone.

This book was hilarious and touched my heart deeply. I laughed from the beginning to the end and I cried happy tears. The characters were all so relatable and genuine even when they were outrageous lol. I’m going on a journey similar to Olive’s and I feel more confident and excited for it after reading this. Thank you so much. Can’t wait to read the other two.

I loved this book! The quirky humor interlaced with strong “feels”...I couldn’t put it down and laughed out loud and also cried. My only criticism is that the main character, Olive, goes through her transformation a bit too quickly....highly recommend!

This book had a perfect main character that is pushed out into the real world for self discovery. The situations in this book has me laughing and crying and although falling in love does have a part in the story, the real story is about Olive and Birdy’s friendship.

Enjoyed the book. Olive is quirky but lovable. I love that she has curly unmanageable hair. I can totally relate to that. Like most of us, she is damaged and because of that she never takes chances. But in the name of friendship, she stretches far outside of her comfort zone. The situations she finds herself in are hilarious.

Jeebus I don't even know where to begin!!! I am feeling so many emotions right now, it's untrue! What an absolutely beautiful book! Kirsty Greenwood I am bowing down to you for creating such a heartfelt, brilliantly written story...even if you did make me cry!
It had been a little while since Kirsty's last book 'The Vintage Guide to Love and Romance' came out, so when I saw that she had a new book, I was beyond excited. Initially, upon reading the blurb, I was a little skeptical, because it sounded like it was going to be a bit of a tear jerker - it was - but having read Kirsty's previous books, I knew that there would be some humor too - there is - so thanks to Kirsty, onto my Kindle it went.
Big Sexy Love is about the friendship between Olive Brewster and Birdie. They've known each other since University and are as close as can be. Olive is a fish monger, lives with her brother and his not so nice girlfriend and is always, always over prepared and safe. Birdie, is a loud, adventurous New Yorker, who is the complete opposite of Olive. Birdie also has Lupus and doesn't have long left to live. Knowing that the end isn't too far away, Birdie gives Olive a mission; to go to New York and give a letter to her 'Big Sexy Love,' so she can explain to him how she feels. Can play it safe, never been on a plane Olive give her best friend her last wish? It might not be ideal and Olive might be absolutely terrified, but she makes Birdie a promise that Chuck Allen - Birdie's Big Sexy Love - will get that letter and Olive Brewster doesn't break promises.
Oh how I loved every single second of this story. Olive was absolute perfection. Her character was so real. I could relate to her in so many ways, from her need for routine, fear of letting people down and her anxiety to her wanting to have things in their place, she just spoke to me on so many levels. She was also freaking hilarious. I loved her matter of fact way of speaking, even if what she was talking about seemed completely absurd to others, in her mind, what she was saying was the norm and just the way things had to be. Seeing her journey unfold from start to finish was an incredible sight. The way she handled situations and the way she accepted others was so moving and emotional. I don't think I've felt this connected to a character for a while and i'm definitely at risk of repeating myself because I loved her so much.
Birdie was amazing. Such a beautiful soul. The way she treated Olive, what she did for Olive was so incredibly sweet and I loved her for it. I also loved her happy nature and ability to still be confident and flirty when she was suffering and in a lot of pain. I can't say enough how beautiful Birdie and Olive's relationship was. At different times in the story they both come to realizations and both of those times I got goosebumps. Kirsty wrote these heartfelt scenes exceptionally well. There was so much feeling and love behind every one.
Besides Olive and Birdie, there is an array of colourful, lovable, outrageous and unique characters in 'Big Sexy Love.' All of which will have you feeling something. Whether it be happiness, sadness, anger, frustration, love or maybe even fear. You will feel something. As I mentioned before I cried. Not just for the sad moments but for the message that Kirsty puts across about living life and also for the complete love that these two friends shared. I'm pretty sure possibly for the fact that the book had ended too! I read it in three days and even when I was lying in bed with a huge headache, barely able to keep my eyes open, you bet I had my kindle in front of me, trying to squeeze in a few more paragraphs.
If you are looking for a Summer/Anytime read. I insist you pick up 'Big Sexy Love.' It will make you sad, happy, excited and you will most definitely laugh out loud a bunch of times.
Thank you Kirsty Greenwood for writing this book and thank you double for sending it to me! :)

I loved this book so much. Kirsty Greenwood is now a total auto buy author for me because her books just absolutely blow me away with the storyline, the characters and her ability to write such epic romances that happen to such real and likable characters. Seriously I enjoyed this book so so much!
The characters in this book are so easy to get to know and so easy to like and so right from the beginning you feel that they are your friends and you are ready to get stuck into their story and take this journey with them. I loved the fact that Olive begins this story and someone who chooses to lead a fairly sheltered life, and she's absolutely fine with that. I also love the fact that she works on a fish stall-when was the last time you read a book about a fishmonger? Her best friend Birdie is fabulous and they interact just like me and my best friend, I'm sure all readers will be saying the same thing! Birdie is great and we know right from the start that she has a terminal illness, but she doesn't let that hold her back and Kirsty doesn't let that cast a dark shadow over the novel at all.
There a whole host of other character to love and love to hate as well. The fabulous Seth, funny little Colin; Anders the GBF and Olive's family. I absolutely loved meeting everyone and getting to know how they were going to play a part in Olive's story. New York is obviously another fabulous character in this book. Everyone knows I love a story set in New York and the fact that I was there whilst I was reading it made it even more fun! I loved the fact that there are views of the city from the river and they even go over to Staten Island. Olive gets to live in an actual apartment as well, something which most tourists won't get to do.
Another thing which I really enjoyed about the book was the way it was structured. The chapters are a great length, not to long and just short enough that you bargain just one more with yourself again and again when you are totally supposed to be somewhere else other than the pages of Olive's story. Each chapter begins with a text or a tweet, sometimes multiple and these can be really really funny. In fact the book made me laugh out loud many many times! I also cried in public and shouted 'bitch!' at one of the characters in the book, thankfully I was in a noisy Starbucks so that was ok!
This is a great read and I guarantee you will fly through it. I really recognised myself in some of these characters and loved spending time with them! There is such fabulous romance and just a really great story and setting. You don't have to have read Kirsty's other books to read this one, it would be a great intro to this fab author,. This would also be great to read at any time of year but I definitely recommend reading it right now because you will love it!

Wow! What a great story of undying friendship, love, adventure and laughs. Lots of laughs. Olive is a girl who lived like an ostrich - hiding from her fears and insecurities, until Birdie gave her a reason to go outside her comfort zone and find her happiness.

This book stole my heart from page one! Olive is as odd as they come but when she embarks on her journey to NYC it's nothing but laugh out loud drama. Add in a quirky romance and a heartbreakingly, beautiful friendship and you'll have all the feels by the end. Seriously, one of the best books I've ever had the pleasure of reading. So glad I chose this book! Or maybe it chose me!?! Such a delight to read. I fell in love with the characters right away. It really is a laugh out loud romantic story. I wish I had a friend like Birdie! I guess if you are forced out of your comfort zone by someone who sees the real you, life can be brilliant and exciting. Take the leap! (Although maybe not as literal as Olive did!) I am hooked on your writing style and am thrilled to read more!

This book was such a pleasant surprise! I laughed out loud until my sides ached. Yes, the predicaments Olive got herself into are absurdly crazy but that makes her all the more endearing and honestly relatable by how she reacts. I cried from the depth of emotion and love everyone longs for with a friend that's your soul sister. If everyone had a friend like Birdie, the world would be a much better place. I can't wait to read anything and everything by this fantastic author!

It definitely is a fun book yet some of the events are so outrageous that one finds it hard to really identify with the main character. But the friendship between the two women is rendered very realistically and is very heartwarming.
