I have been fully addicted to these books from book one! They have it all. The love, the passion, the fighting. They’ve all been page turners! I laugh. I cry. My heart races! The only bad part is when it’s over. I hope they continue forever!!

I love that this is like 2 1/2 love stories in one and you can clearly see and feel the difference in each one. J. R. Ward can write about killing things and make it such a happy love affair for all involved.

Once again the Warden has done it. This book brings you all the feels. Laughter, happiness, sadness, tears. Hopes for love and foreverness True. I love the brothers, their shellans, the trainees and all those who encompass this world. This book in particular brings us the the story of Saxton and Ruhn. I have been waiting for Saxton to finally get his HEA and boy did he get it. Being able to let love lost go and be open to finding what is yours is hard, also letting go of your past and letting someone in is sometimes even harder. But, love wins in the end and happiness for all. Getting to see Peyton and Novo go through their journeys is incredibly heart wrenching and soul redefining that it brings tears to my eyes again. Thank you J.R. Ward for bringing these stories to us year after year. I can't wait for the next story.

This and all of J.R.Wards books on the Black Dagger legacy are none stop action and reality in a fiction book. I could not put it down. I read this book and all the others in one sitting. I am always on pins and needles waiting for the next one.

Although the storyline of scorned/hurt/closed off person A finally finding solace in person B is a recurring theme in this series, I still find myself invested in the story and soaking up every word. If you’re a fan of this series, you won’t be let down.

Basically an HEA romance, ok, a hot HEA romance but a pretty basic romance While I'm a big fan of HEA and absolutely love the brothers and enjoyed the story, this novel was not worth $14.99 especially for an e-book. I love JR Ward's writing and have all of her books but the price point on this book has me feeling taken advantage of.

I love all the Black Dagger Brotherhood Books. Brotherhood, loyalty, love and their partners treated with so much respect. The students coming up just finding what their lives can be. Commoners with royalty.

For some reason, I'm loving the legacy books more than the brotherhood ones. Maybe because there's not as much drama/angst. There's just the right amount to keep things interesting without depressing the heck out of me. I also think it's because there's not as much history/back plot so the storied are lighter without being light, if that makes any sense. The whole so much history that it bogs down the story is something I've noticed in most long running series and not just this one. So I think Ms Ward is very smart to give us this less intertwined stories.
OK as for the actual book, I loved it. I know some people would have liked an entire book for each couple but I was more than satisfied with the way both stories played out. Also, I'm glad that we didn't have a long wait for either story. The amount of angst that inevitably comes along with a storyline that takes books to resolved, is too much for me. I loved all the characters, loved seeing how each one grew and recognized/appreciated the chance they were given at finding love. Wonderful addition to a wonderful series.

It took my breath away reading JR Ward’s latest installment of the Black Dagger Brotherhood Blood Fury. As a female I completely identified with the emotional and physical struggles Novo was challenged with as a young woman discovering her worth. It was equally rewarding to read how Novo found the courage to face her demons and acknowledge her part in blocking her happiness which of course led to a very powerful message. I throughly enjoyed the unexpected romance between Saxon and Ruhn! It was beautiful and tasteful. Can’t wait for the next entry into the world of The Black Dagger Brotherhood titled “The Thief”. Totally addicted to the journey!

There are so many reasons why I love this book and couldn't put it down. We find out more about the trainees and the next couple to find love -- which was expected because that is what these legacy books are about.. and of course it is a couple most of us were expecting to get together. But the way it happens and the timing is just amazing. Then we get to visit Saxton and what is going on in his life. I like Saxton. He is smart and funny and he deals with Wrath in such a great way. Those two have amazing chemistry together. I wish we had more scenes with them together. I love it when Wrath says things that a king shouldn't say and Saxton says we can do that but maybe we should do this. I don't want to give away any spoilers but at one point in this book, I did start to cry and worry about a character. We all know J.R. Ward is not shy about killing off people!! All in all a great book. Buy it. Read it. Love it.

I still love this series. I love the way Ms. Ward has separated the series in two. My favorite parts were of Saxton and Ruhn. I warmed up to Peyton and Novo. They were never two characters that I liked from the other books. But as the book went on, I understood why Novo was the way she was and she was so vulnerable. Peyton just seemed spoiled but did find his own way and confidence. I am happy that everything does not evolve around the training center but enough of the program that we don’t forget they are trainees. Not sure what will happened when they run out of them. Saxton and Ruhn had everything I had hoped for. I don’t want to give spoilers but what a beautiful love story. Great book. Always love the Brothers!

For so many authors, spin offs and sequels turn out to be disappointing. Not so with J.R. Ward. The Black Dagger Brotherhood is consistently great reading. Although the books could stand alone, they make more sense and are more enjoyable read in order. The sex is erotic but not overdone. If you are sensitive to it you can skip those passages and still have a great story to read. I love the characters and look forward to visiting them with each new book. My only complaint is having to wait in between books. I, like so many others, am always greedy for the next book. Thank you, Ms. Ward for hours of reading pleasure.

This book was engaging from the moment I opened the book. I laughed so hard in a few spots reading this I was hoping I didn't wake my neighbors. Rhun and Saxon's explosive romance was just awesome. I am glad that they got together. Novo and Peyton's story is one of healing and true love. I am happy they have each other to love. They both deserve much happiness. I am glad Peyton finally sees himself as someone who is Not a quitter and that he found someone to see the real him and force him to really see himself also. Great book ad usual Mrs. Ward. Love Ms. Minnie's character too she is wonderful. Hope we see more of her.

As always, I love J.R. Ward's books! I am so happy both HEAs in this book! I would have liked to have had more of my beloved Brothers in the book but it was still an awesome book. I loved Ruhn, he was just perfect for Saxton! Again, both couples were so easy to identify with and love. Their story lines were easy to follow and very interesting. It's been a while since I've read all the BDB's, I think a re-read is needed by me! I cannot wait for the next book, hopefully in this series :)

After the disappointment of The Chosen, JR Ward is back on track with the writing I’ve missed! Ruhn and Saxton are as sweet and hot as Cowboy candy! Novo and Payton were not a couple I saw coming, but they seem to work better than I’d thought they could. All in all, a great return to the BDB world I love so much!

I usually don't care for books with so many P.O.V's . But J.R Ward can spin a tale unlike I have seen but from the very best author's. This book does it disappoint. I love Saxton, Rhun, Novo and Peyton's stories. As always her world building and character development is impeccable. I love that the brothers make a brief appearance along with the King. It was everything that I hoped it would be and more. I can't wait for the next book. Great job Warden!!

I really wish I hadn't spent fifteen dollars on this book. Black Dagger Brotherhood has become boring. And it seems as though the characters all seem to do the same thing, or have the same attitudes. Feeling sorry for themselves. I will purchase the next book, but I will wait till it's out for a while. No need in spending double for the boring book. Hopefully, they get better.

I have enjoyed the BDB very much but the books are now, and have been, a too predictable formula. Bring out the template and plug in a name and add a few new details. I didn't feel much tension, if any, in this book because I knew the steps that would be taken to the HEA. This series may be over for me but I hope not. I will give it another chance with the next book, which is why I gave it two stars.

Never did I read the males in this book released their bonding scent. Yes, the males say they are bonded but you never hear of the bonding scent. I think JR Ward has dragged this out too much. She can't even remember things she wrote. I'm disappointed that she forgot characteristics that penned herself. Such a shame. Don't draw a story out if you can't stick to the original model.

With Ward’s spin-off from the Black Dagger Brotherhood, Black Dagger Legacy, we continue to get to see the newest generation of fighters who want to save their race from the Lessening Society. The legacy books are pretty basic compared to its counter part. There is so much going on with in the BDB series that you have to follow along and know what’s what. With the BDL books, it’s just a couple and their journey to happiness (whatever that may be). I really love that she gave us these books. We have so many more characters to fall in love with and so much more time with the ones we have loved all along. These couples in this latest installment made for one addicting read and an amazing addition to the Black Dagger Legacy series.
Saxton has broken my heart since the fall out of his relationship with Blay. I didn’t like those two together but I always liked Saxton. Watching his relationship with Ruhn grow was worth the wait. Even though this series is supposed to be the original BDB guys and the new recruits, I think it was prefect to have Saxton’s story in this series. His would have been over shadowed in the BDB series and I really did not want that to happen to him.
Peyton comes into his own in this book and for me I couldn’t get enough of it. Peyton was the one I have been waiting for since Blood Kiss. He peaked my interest then and I have been dying to get more. Novo was everything and so much more than I expected. I would have liked to have seen more about her needs for the club she went to but with everything else I get why we didn’t.
I’ve had so many people ask me when should these start these books. Even though this is a separate series and it could possibly stand on its own. I truly think these books would mean so much more to you if would have read the books in the BDB series at least through all the ones named Lover ______ . After that she kinda revisits some old characters and some side characters get a story too. So with the start of The King you could jump into these at any time. I’ve loved all of these books, some more than others, but they all are amazing and at the top of Paranormal Romance recommendations.
Blood Fury is a journey of overcoming and moving on, starting fresh and finding your voice. It’s emotional and full of the trade mark humor we have come to know and love from Ward. I couldn’t get enough of this book.

3.75 stars--BLOOD FURY is the third instalment in JR Ward’s contemporary, adult BLACK DAGGER LEGACY paranormal, romance series, a spin off from Ward’s number one selling Black Dagger Brotherhood series. Once again, the author addresses two building relationships: BDB trainees Peyton and Novo, as well as Saxton, the King’s legal advisor, and Bitty’s uncle Ruhn. BLOOD FURY can be read as a stand alone but for backstory and cohesion, I recommend reading the series in order especially the Black Dagger Legacy spin off.
NOTE: BLOOD FURY contains scenes of graphic violence, and M/M sexual situations.
Saxton is a male of worth; disowned by his aristocrat family for his sexual preferences Saxton had once considered leaving his current position when the man that he loved (Blay) was mated to another male. With the introduction of Ruhn, young Bitty’s uncle, Saxton discovered a second chance at love when the two were pushed together as Saxton began in investigation into a land dispute, and the threats from the human population, against an elderly female vampire. Ruhn, believing himself not worthy due to events in his past, struggles with many issues of low self-esteem, and his attraction to the King’s official advisor. What ensues is the building relationship between Saxton and Ruhn, and the potential fall out when Ruhn falls victim to the same humans threatening the elderly vampire.
Peyton watched as his best friend and the woman he loved (Paradise) fell in love with another male. Battling his inability to let go of his desire for another man’s mate, Peyton’s actions on the street threaten the life of another trainee. Enter Novo, the woman with whom Peyton would fall in love but a woman who struggles with memories from the past-memories that threaten to overwhelm with the approach of her sister’s mating.
BLOOD FURY follows two couples as they traverse a minefield of personal pain and private heartache, the constant reminders of unrequited love, and acceptance of the consequences of their choices and actions. All four of the story line characters battle ghosts from the past that continue to control much of the present. Ruhn’s history is painful and heartbreaking; Novo has suffered a loss she will never forget; Peyton’s family takes control of his future; and Saxton must purge his pain by letting go of something and someone he once loved.
Most of the Black Dagger Brothers make cameo appearances throughout the story as they, once again, must go into battle against the lessers and human threats to the vampire population. The mention of Assail on several occasions, as he continues to battle his own personal demons, prepares the reader for his upcoming story THE THIEF set to release in April 2018.
BLOOD FURY is a story of family, of loss, of acceptance and love. JR Ward gives Saxton his happily ever after-but -I struggled to ‘feel’ the palpable sexual energy between Saxton and Ruhn that many of her leading couples experience. What little emotion witnessed came at the possibility that Saxton may lose the man with whom he had fallen in love. The $ex scenes, though limited, were a little underwhelming.
Unlike many of the previous story lines in the BDB series I did not feel pulled in too many directions-the author divided our time between two paths that would converge at the ‘I dos’ of a very unhappy vampire. The premise was spirited and lively; the characters were tragic and energetic; the romances were provocative and intense but I was hoping for a little more heat and steam.

(RabidReads.com) Even though I quit reading the Black Dagger Brotherhood after Lover at Last-which by the way was amazing-I haven’t had any trouble with the various storylines in this spin off series, Black Dagger Legacy. I don’t really consider it a spin off because it takes place in the same world, and still features members of the original brothers, although now it’s mostly about the trainees for Black Dagger Brotherhood status. Three books in, these have all been about the same class of trainees, making for a deeper connection to all those characters. I was especially excited to learn that lawyer Saxton, ex-boyfriend of Qhuinn, would finally meet his match after all his heartbreak.
Trainee Peyton is a mess. He’s in love with Paradise, even though she is already mated to another trainee. On Paradise’s part, she thinks of Peyton as her best friend. All three are in the program. Also in the program is Novo, a strong and very fierce female warrior. She has had her own heartbreak in the past, although that past isn’t that far gone. Saxton is suffering. He’s in his own private hell-working for the King and running into his ex, Blay, at every turn. When an elderly vampire, Minnie, begins having problems with a developmental company that wants her home, Saxton steps in to help. Bitty’s Uncle Ruhn, fairly new to the series, is sent with Saxton as a sort of bodyguard. For those that don’t remember, Bitty is the little girl that Rhage and his mate adopted.
While this has life and death moments and one really bad run in with the Lessers, it’s the characters that made this story for me. All were familiar to me going into it, so I was ready for their stories. Peyton is the son of wealth and he has the resulting drug habit and sleeping around down to a tee. With his admittance into the BDB program, he is now starting to change his ways. Trying at least. But he is hurting about Paradise and when she comes into danger one night, he reacts the way a bonded male would. This causes all sorts of problems, but it also manages to put Novo more on his radar than ever before. Novo was such a strong female and she has held in all her heartache for awhile now. We learn her background story and personally I can understand wanting to punch someone from her past. Saxton was so sweet when he starts falling in love. The book is worth it just for the story of him and Ruhn. Oh, they have some problems to overcome and actually one really big hurdle, but their story was probably my favorite of the two couples. I came away loving both of them, and actually would have loved a book with just them in it. I hope we see more of this couple in future installments. Minnie, the owner of the home in jeopardy, was a sweetheart and the kind of person I would love to know. And then there were the villains and this story had them. They were not necessarily fleshed out because while important to the story, their backgrounds, etc. were not important. Enough said about that.
Narration? I liked Jim Frangione and have liked him narrating others in this series as well. This time I realized that he doesn’t do that much to differentiate voices. Saxton was the exception to this and I knew immediately when he was speaking. Frangione’s voice is lighter when females are speaking and I appreciated that, but I was just wishing for more voice difference. I noticed it more with this one than previous ones I’ve listened to. Narration was still 4 stars for me because I do like his voice.
All in all, this was an excellent listen. As always, Ward delivered a well written and paced adult story that kept me listening late into the night. I hate that we will have to wait so long for the next one as it has been at least a year or longer between each one.

J.R. Ward has got quite the racket going here. Bringing us just enough of our beloved Black Dagger Brotherhood to keep us utterly blood thirsty for each and every new tidbit, every provocative and delectablely sinful tryst, each electrically charged and terrifically thrilling fight, and the promise of a possible new happily ever after for some of our favorite vampires, both new and old. This brilliant and devious author has me clamoring to gobble up each new book while throwing my money hand over fist her way in hopes that the next installment will land in my desperate hands even a few hours sooner.
You would think a buildup of three-quarters of a year, eagerly awaiting more brotherly goodness, is just begging for a letdown of epic proportions, but it seems virtually impossible when you are talking about the Brothers, new recruits, the King's solicitor, and most especially J.R. Ward. After devouring every sexy, sensual, exhilarating, witty, and humorous word of Blood Fury, I find I am still as far from let down as humanly possible and, after such an invigoration, with a renewed passion and lust for more, more, more.
First of all, holy smokin' vampire magnetism! I thought Xhex and John Matthew had off the charts chemistry and were unbearably hot together, but Blood Fury has two unbelievably scorching couples for the price of one. Both Novo and Peyton AND Saxton and Ruhn, are unimaginably hungry for one another making the tension between the couples and their eventual coming together extraordinarily fiery, indescribably fervent, and deliciously fierce. Electricity is out of control in this installment as each glance, each innuendo, each touch on both sides of this story gives you butterflies while each kiss, each stroke, each encounter will leave you panting.
Predictable in its humor, its heat, its captivation, and its enjoyability, yet surprising considering all that we know about all of these characters, be prepared to fall even more in love with each of the four main characters and to mourn the loss of their constant presence in your life as the last word is read. Peyton is so much more charming, clever, and fun than I imagined. Saxton is far stronger and even, dare I say, badass then I ever could have anticipated. Novo is of course, one of the strongest, most guarded females we have met thus far, but her vulnerability, on the rare occasions it is shown, is far more heartwarming and endearing than I ever thought possible. While Ruhn, who I always knew to be a male of worth, proved to be even more brave, heroic, selfless, and good than even I had expected. These characters, in this combination, sharing their stories at the same time, makes for one of my favorite books of the bunch as the story flows seamlessly, the characters grow on you with each chapter until you are ready to weep once you reach the end of the book and thus your fictional friendship with each of them, and the outcome for characters who once seemed hopeless and quite distraught, is even better than I could have hoped for.
Fun? Check. Exciting? Check. Emotional? Double check. Super sexy? Check and check! Everything you know and love from J.R. Ward, the Black Dagger Brotherhood series, and the Legacy spin-off, Blood Fury is another knockout, homerun, conquering, moving on, uplifting, amazingly sublime addition to the series. My admiration for the Warden will never cease and if she keeps churning out stories that seem, no matter how implausibly, even better than the last, she will be able to create her own brotherhood, or possibly sisterhood as it were, of eternally devoted fans.

Fun? Check. Exciting? Check.

Blood Fury had not one, but two romances I thoroughly enjoyed. Novo and Peyton may throw verbal barbs at each other, but there’s an undercurrent of attraction brewing between them. Novo, however, writes Peyton off as a rich, shallow playboy, normal for the aristocratic glymera. Also, it seems Peyton does nothing but moon over Paradise, another member in their training team. It doesn’t matter Paradise is bonded to another male, Novo wants nothing to do with a male who just wants to get his rocks off while in love with someone else. She’s been hurt in the past and will not allow anyone close enough to damage her heart again. Yet, when Novo is injured Peyton is the one who stays by her side and for some reason she allows it, wants his presence even.
Petyon realizes whatever he felt for Paradise pales in comparison to his feeling for Novo when she’s injured. He also realizes he needs to play things just right with her as he senses her need to keep others at a distance. I loved that he took this all into consideration while being there for her exactly when she needed him. Their romance was hot and touching, and I loved every minute!
We met Ruhn in the last book; Bitty’s uncle come to reunite with her as the only family she has left, but he’s been struggling to fit into life at the mansion. Even though the Brothers and family have been nothing but welcoming, he can’t help but feel less in their presence due to his past, which come to find out is completely heartbreaking. Also, he has no job and doesn’t feel right just taking the Brother’s generosity.
Saxton, Wrath’s chief advisor and attorney has been hurting ever since Blay chose another over him. His emotions feel bleak and directionless and he’s thinking of getting out of Caldwell and away from the constant reminders of Blay. However, a situation pairs Ruhn and Saxton together, and his heart is once again awakened.
I loved Ruhn! He’s so big and intimidating to look at, but all mushy heart and feelings underneath! Saxton and Ruhn were at first tentative and unsure about each other’s feelings and it was cute seeing them fall for each other. The romance was sweet, and I’m thrilled these two connected.
I’m really loving the new generation of Black Dagger stories! J.R. Ward’s storytelling is captivating, and hot without adding a bunch of unnecessary angst to her romances. Just what I needed after reading two underwhelming stories, and it really made Ms. Ward’s talent stand out in contrast.

Eh. I hate to say it but I didn't love these couples (Saxton and Ruhn, Peyton and Novo). Their relationships felt so manufactured, not natural at all. I was kind of surprised Saxton was still so broken up over Blay. It seems like a lot of time has passed. And that violent scene with him at the end was so out of character for him. It felt silly.
The only thing I liked was Novo's background. I felt bad for all that happened to her but I loved her scenes with her family. That drama was delicious. Still a fan though and I'm counting the days to Assail's book.

In the 3rd installment of Black Dagger Legacy Ward continues the overall Story of her Black Dagger Brotherhood World, she also gives us two new love stories.
Payton hasn’t been one of my favorite characters, him being such a spoiled aristocrat never translated well for me, and I never liked him. I didn’t have an opinion on Novo. It turns out her story was pretty tragic and heartbreaking. I was surprised by the amount of depth that went into her. I shouldn’t have been, but I was. Their story was messy and full of misunderstandings and harsh judgments. I was also surprised that by the end my view on Payton took a complete 180. Theirs wasn’t the best love story, but I did enjoy it.
The second story in this book revolves around Saxton, who I have loved since he was introduced. Saxton in heartbroken over his breakup and loss of Blay. I am so glad Ward rectified this and gave Saxton a relationship. I was heartbroken for him. Ruhn was a complete surprise as Saxton’s love interest and one I did not see coming. But it works and fits perfectly. I loved Saxton and Ruhn together, they complement each other in their differences, and they loved each other so thoroughly.
This world that Ward has created is solely her own and unique with the mythos, the language, the everything. She has been able to keep me engaged and wanting more from this world, and I don’t see that ending any time soon. I love that even though we get new characters In Black Dagger Legacy, we still always get some of the old as well. Blood Fury is a great addition one that I truly enjoyed, and I am giving it 4 Boundless Stars.

I was utterly bored by this book. The two relationships were dull and their was no sexual sizzle between either couple. Only bright point was Wrath’s minor scenes. Even Saxton who has been on the periphery of the main storylines went from someone I wanted to know even more about, too a two dimensional character.
As to Peyton and Novo, BORED, even at the Keys club. Plot was made up of angst and miscommunication. Then big fight, Peyton was a true ass, more so than usual. There was no love here to be found, and no romance.
I thought this spin off series was supposed to go back to the BDB roots. Disappointed.
Bitty was the only heart in this book, so maybe we need to fast forward to a new group of vamps in the future.

OK, so while I knew that the Peyton book was coming, I was pleasantly surprised with the companion story finally showing up for Saxton (!!!!!!). Maybe I was a bit more excited about Saxton's story, btu either way, I could not stop reading this one. It had me hooked from the start and I found I hated Peyton a lot less with each passing chapter.
Peyton is an arrogant rich kid, or at least that's how he started in this Black Dagger Legacy world. We all knew he was in love with his best friend (who has a man... who would totally knock him out if he looked at her wrong) and he has a fondness for drugs and alcohol. While hosting his own pity party, Novo somehow wanders into his orbit. As the one female to actively turn him down, it was obvious that he would become interested in her, but his interest ends up growing to so much more.
Novo, obviously, has her own internal drama in the form of family, secrets, ex's, and trying to prove herself. In the program, there's no avoiding Peyton, but after an accident ends up essentially chaining her to a bed, it becomes even harder to avoid him. These two are certainly an unlikely pair, but not out of the realm of possibility. There is one scene, however, at the party, that just had me smiling from ear to ear.
Now, Saxton's story has been a long time coming. I was so, so, so, so happy that this poor guy finally got a chance to find love that wasn't horribly painful. We also have the added bonus of that love interest being Ruhn, who is the beloved uncle of another favorite character in the series. These two were just... perfect. I loved every second of their love story. We all know nobody gets a free pass, so there are ups and down, but we get some truly phenomenal HEA out of this book. It just reaffirms my belief that this spinoff series is even more enjoyable than the primary one.

Blood Fury was a story of duality and love. Though it followed two separate couples, their stories are intertwined. One part of the couple is from the aristocracy. The other from more unfortunate means and familial situations. Each couple perfectly reflects the yin and yang of a relationship, and the delicate balancing act of how two people from far different backgrounds can make their life work. It’s beautiful and heartbreaking all at the same time.
Peyton and Novo’s beginning was a bit different than I expected. Usually, the BDB has more a me, Tarzan, and you, Jane kind of feel to the beginning of the relationship. Yet, these two were very different. Even the first time they screw around had me scratching my hand and making sure that I was really reading a J.R. Ward book. But, I stuck with it, and soon realized that all beginnings don’t necessarily reflect the ending in romance. These two characters are rough and tumble. Strong yet so similiarly riddled with weaknesses like holes in their armor. On the outside, it seems as if they were never destined to end up where they do, but together, it makes sense.
Saxton and Ruhn are almost the mirror image of this same sentiment. Ruhn was all male and falling for someone who was also male came as somewhat of a shock to him. Yet, unlike Peyton and Novo, Saxton didn’t have his family bearing down on him to make himself a gentleman for his families means of gaining more power and notoriety. That was long since gone. Saxton was a man who had been scorned and forced to watch the man of his then-dreams mate and find love elsewhere. All under the same room of the King he serves. His loneliness dripped off the pages. But Ruhn changed all of that. Though tasked to solve an issue outside of the BDB mansion, they found the road to each other and eventual happiness. Sure there were bumps along the way, but the ending was just as perfect as Peyton and Novo’s.
It’s those reasons why I love this series and just about every single book that J.R. Ward has written to date. Her stories are primarily about love, but underneath that, there’s something more. A lesson to learn, perhaps. You can never take her stories at just face value because by the end of the book, you’ll see things differently. The preconceived feelings regarding certain characters will disappear into the Fade, and all you will be left with is pure happiness.

4.5 Stars.
I really wanted to be able to give this 5 Stars but there's too much that irked me to give it a full 5.
Let me start off by saying that this was by far the best of the spin off series at this point. The 2 previous books have left much to be desired IMO. Especially #2 which I disliked immensely.
Which is why I took my sweet ole time before reading this one.
There was very little expectation going in.
Peyton and Novo I thought their plot was pretty nice. The sex was brief but inventive. The chemistry was good. I was happy to see Peyton forget about Paradise. The main thing about their story that felt off was it was mostly nothing but sex. And Novo's backstory was repeated numerous times. We get it. She was left. She lost what she lost. There's no need to tell us 8 times. The readers aren't going to forget.
Wrath as always was amazing in the story. I also love to see the other brother's play a part.
Saxton and Ruhn was the true reason why I was reading this book.
Part of me with giddy with the plot. While part of me was kinda disgusted how it developed because it was halfa**ed.
To be fair, each set of characters deserved their own books. Even if they were novellas. They would've been far better received IMO. Mainly because neither plots made a lick of sense being placed together. None. I never did understand the purpose of that.
BTW when there's m/m sex you can't just shove it in with a little spit. It doesn't work that way. And with Ruhn being as sweet and gentle he was with Saxton that scene felt extremely out of place. Even if it was hot.
I was torn about the entire book.
I loved many parts of it. Like the ending with Saxton. Whereas I didn't care for others. It's a true toss up.
All the characters were likable so that's a good thing.
The sex was hot. Well written. Albeit brief.
We got to see lots of brothers.
All in all it was a good read.
Not a favorite. But good anyhow.

Blood Fury was fantastic, its been a minute since I have read anything that I felt really grabbed me from the 1st page. Blood Fury is probably my favorite Legacy book to date. There was just so much I loved in the books. I would have not mind one bit, if Ward would have written two different books, so we could have more of Novo & Peyton and Saxton & Ruhn. I would have enjoyed it, I just couldn't decided between the 2 pairs, which pair I loved more.
Blood Fury as you know is the 3rd book in the Legacy series, and it follows the trainees that the Brothers are getting ready for the war that continues with the Lessening Society. It really great to see the trainees grow as fighters every new book. And I like learning about each of them personally, so you can see under all their layers. The cool thing about this book, they are now going out in the field and fighting alongside the Brothers now. Which then means, we get to read about more interaction with the Brothers. This makes me very happy.
In Blood Fury, I mentioned it focuses on 2 sets of people. I can't tell you who I loved more. It was equal between them. So yes, everyone gets their HEA, but the one, that probably struck the most, is Saxton. Since he isn't new to me as a character, I've had years to grow attached to him, just like the Brothers. So when Saxton, lost the love of his life to another. It did break our hearts even though, we know he truly never really had him, since Blay was always meant to be with Qhuinn. So I always hoped, in the future he would find someone new. Blood Fury finally granted my wish for Saxton. So when Ruhn happens, this was fantastic. Finally, Saxton gets his HEA. Now granted it wasn't easy, but once they hit some speed bumps, they finally can be with each other. You'll just have to read the book, to see how their relationship kicks off.
Then the next duo we focus on is Novo and Peyton. These two, you either want to slap them, or give them high fives. Talk about being hard headed, if you look in the dictionary, you'll see Novo and Peyton, pictured. But once, they begin to shed some of their tough layers, magic starts to happen. Not, giving details, but things do get very bad before they get very good.
If you haven't started the Legacy series, what are you waiting for? Plus, I feel like you need to read these to continue in the correct order of things. You want to make sure you have no gaps in timeline. - Yara

The Black Dagger Brotherhood world is one of my favorite PNR worlds out there. If J.R. Ward writes anything even remotely related to the BDB, I will read it. This Black Dagger Legacy is a spinoff of the original series, but it’s got all the goodness from the original (meaning all the OG BDB boys still play a part!), plus a little extra. These books are funny, kickass, sexy, and it’s got its own brand of uniqueness that makes it completely different from any other vampire romance series. I highly recommend you read the BDB and BDL series if you love anything PNR!
I’ve been waiting for the story in Blood Fury ever since I read Lover at Last – because SAXTON! The poor guy got the short end of the stick in LaL, but we finally get his story and HEA in Blood Fury. Alongside his romance, we get the trainees Peyton and Novo’s, which we all saw coming from a mile away, right? I do love the fact that we get a bit of s 2-in-1 in this spinoff series in terms of storylines and romances, because I can never get enough of these vampires!
Peyton is part of an aristocratic bloodline, and he is everything that Novo despises – rich, arrogant, beautiful, and did I mention aristocratic? But despite him being her total opposite, she can’t help but want him. Too bad he’s in love with another trainee in their group… or is he?
Now that Paradise has found her mate, Peyton has lost his best friend and confidante and is in limbo. The only thing that makes sense in his life anymore is his desire for Novo. To say the two of them clash would be an understatement. The chemistry between Novo and Peyton is on fire – they are constantly going head to head with each other, and their lust builds with every fight and banter.
I loved Novo and Peyton together. They were the perfect case of opposites-attract – she is the tough, badass mofo in leathers, while Peyton is always slick in his suits outside of training. But the two of them worked together perfectly. They each had their own individual personal problems to overcome, and when they finally learned to lean on each other, it was magic.
And of course, the second romance that parallels Novo and Peyton’s is Saxton and Ruhn’s. I freaking ADORED these two men. They make the sweetest, loveliest couple – there’s a special kind of tenderness with Saxton guiding Ruhn to explore his newfound sexuality. It’s a slow, innocent, and heart-warming kind of M/M romance that I couldn’t be happier about!
Blood Fury is another excellent addition to the BDB world. You don’t need to read the BDB series in order to read the BDL books, though I’d still highly recommend you do. Many of the original cast still play a part in the spinoff series, and there are so many characters you might get a little lost if you’re not familiar with them. If you have read BDB but haven’t gotten to experience the spinoff series yet, you really should, because I can guarantee that your favorite Brother will be in the books! And iff you’re a fan of PNR but haven’t read J.R. Ward yet… what are you waiting for!?

Third in the Black Dagger Legacy series, a spin-off from Ward’s The Black Dagger Brotherhood series, and revolving around a core group of trainees preparing to join the Brotherhood. The couples focus is on Novo and Peyton and Saxton and Ruhn. The story takes place in January in Caldwell, New York.
My Take
It’s a classic case of rejected love that haunts one. It’s also self-realization, as truth has its way with each of the focus characters. Unfortunately, it was also too insta-love between Saxton and Ruhn. Too unbelievable. As for Peyton and Novo. Sigh. A lot of tell, 'cause I sure wasn't feeling the love.
”I cannot have my dignity if I lie to someone I’m falling in love with.”
Ward is amazing in how well she makes me feel how skittish and defensive Ruhn is, and he truly is the most amazing man. She was tricky too — and believable — in how she pushed Ruhn and Saxton into close quarters. They each have a road to hoe, though.
I can totally understand why Novo wants nothing to do with her family. That sister!!? Jesus. Oskar deserves her.
Ooh, meow. Okay, I know it’s the truth, but still. And still, it does make Peyton have to re-think his life. Nor is he the only one who will have to examine thoughts, emotions, actions, and reactions.
Okay, the niggles. I wish Ward had been sharper in the before and after of Peyton’s about-face. More questioning on Peyton's part. And couldn’t Saxton have had some qualms about Ruhn? Saxton is so GQ, and Ruhn is a blunt laborer. Shouldn't Saxton have wondered about the differences between them? The bit about trying out foods was great, and I did love their coming together. I did "feel" Ruhn’s fears about what he was feeling. Poor guy. But I would have liked this "courtship" more grounded in reality, and yeah, not so dang easy. Oh, don't give me that. I know it's a novel about vampires. Doesn't mean the characters don't have the same qualms, fears, and hopes as bog-standard humans.
Why, oh why, has Ward left us in suspense with Romina??!
It’s pride. It’s dignity. It’s honor. All conveyed through global third person subjective point-of-view among the four focus characters, for we hear their thoughts as well as their emotions. It’s soft. It’s sweet. And it ties up several loose ends in the series.
The Story
Knowing one’s duty to one’s bloodline doesn’t mean you have to fall in line…especially when there’s nothing real about it. Besides, when the one you love falls in love with someone else, well…
The same holds true for Novo with a family embarrassed by her and a betraying bitch of a sister who grinds you into the dirt as much as possible. It was that incident two-some years ago that finally ended Novo’s respect for any of them and caused her to swear off love.
His heart broken, Saxton is dreaming of getting away, leaving Caldwell. Until Ruhn is appointed his bodyguard. It’s a scandal with which Ruhn has no idea how to react.
The Characters
Novo is not feminine enough, too honorable for her family. Serenity is the name she chose. Sophy is her self-absorbed bitch of a sister. Oskar is Sophy's fiancé.
Peyton is the son of the very wealthy Peythone and notorious as a drug-using, drunken, wealthy playboy. Romina is the unmated female Peythone has found. Her parents are Salone and Idina.

Members of the king’s household
Rhage and Mary (she’s a therapist) have adopted Bitty, after her uncle Ruhn gave up his rights ( Blood Vow ). Mastimon is Bitty’s toy tiger. GQ Saxton is the King’s solicitor, Qhuinn’s cousin, and recently dumped by Blay. Wrath, son of Wrath, is the Blind King with George, his seeing-eye dog. Beth is Wrath’s mate and queen ( Dark Lover , 1). John Matthew is mute and Beth’s brother ( Lover Eternal , 2). He’s mated to Xhex ( Lover Mine , 8). Blay and Qhuinn ( Lover at Last , 11) have two children ( The Beast , 14). Dr. “Manny” Manello does some amazing saving.
Phury and Zsadist, Vishous (mated to the ghostly Doc Jane; Lover Unbound , 5), and Payne (she’s with Manny; Lover Unleashed , 9) are more of the trainers. Ehlena is a nurse for the Brotherhood and is mated to Rehvenge ( Lover Avenged , 7).
Fritz is the doggen butler who also drives the trainees’ bus. Meliz is one of the maids. Assail is the drug-addicted vampire held in close quarters ( The Beast ). Luchas is Qhuinn’s older brother who had been seduced by the Omega and imprisoned.
Miniahna “Minnie” is the aged grandmother under siege by property developers. Rhysland had been her husband until a few years ago. Miniahna “Ahna” is Minnie’s very worried granddaughter. Rocke and Lyric are Blay’s supportive parents. Carmichael is a real estate agent. Nickle is a friend of Peyton’s.
The glymera are the upper class of the vampire society. The Keys is a sex club. Lisette and Marc, humans, run an excellent little restaurant. Mr. Romanski is a lawyer representing the developer.
The Lessening Society is…
…peopled by men who gave up their existence to the Omega and became lessers , committed to destroying the vampire race.
The Cover and Title
The cover is in a range of blues from the spotlit royal blue wall paper with navy filigrees to Peyton’s deep blue v-neck T-shirt, the sky blue of the embossed title running across Peyton’s midsection, and the gleaming blues and grays of the horizontal dagger just above the series information, which is in white. Peyton has an intent look on his face as he glares out at us…there’s something about those ice blue eyes! Blond hair carefully styled in a casual look, more blond stubble on his chin, and it all blends so well with the peach of his face and neck. The author’s name is in an embossed red with black outlines across Peyton’s chest with a white info blurb below it.
I believe the title is Saxton’s reaction to the attack, for his Blood Fury erupts into action.
My Take
It’s a classic case of rejected love that haunts one.

Oh what a happy day when I get to crack open a J.R. Ward book and get lost in the world she’s created. Honestly, it’s a magical experience. So as you can imagine I was more than excited to start reading BLOOD FURY but at the same time, I was a bit scared because the previous Ward book (BDB not BDL) left a little sour taste in my mouth.
While I can’t say that BLOOD FURY addresses any of my reservations about what happened in THE CHOSEN, it delivered a solid page-turning story that I couldn’t help but be consumed by. I picked this up one morning around Christmas time and I barely wanted to move and go be social with the family. I had to read every chance I got and even when I didn’t really have a chance. I gobbled this up, all starry eyed and in love.
First up we get the HEA for Novo and Peyton and this is one I’ve been anticipating from the very beginning of this series because they are SUCH opposites. I was dying to see them clash together and it just seemed like it would make for some sizzling chemistry. And boy, did it ever?! The development of their relationship was perfectly paced for my liking and it also felt very much in character for both of them. The great part being that they are both dealing with some immediate personal struggles and it was those struggles that I think facilitated how they came together.
Novo is the tough chick of the group, I love that about her. I was really happy that we got to see a completely different side of her in this book. She was a tender, young girl and the past slapped her around pretty bad. My heart immediately thawed to her and I really admired her strength even more than before. It gave meaning to how she conducts herself now and it made it all that sweeter when she let Peyton in.
And then of course there’s Peyton. I adore him. Seriously. Maybe he may not be the most popular guy for fans of this series but ohhhh how I love him. He’s done the best he can with the hand life dealt him. And he’s made plenty of mistakes. But the fact he sees that and wants to make changes, that he takes criticism from his actions and turns things around… well again… it made me admire him too.
I may even go as far as saying that Novo and Peyton are my favorite couple of the Legacy series so far!
This book also has a secondary HEA. Finally, Saxton gets his man. And no, I don’t mean Blay, lets not get crazy here. But Saxton finds happiness and I was beyond excited that this was happening. But I was also scared that it wouldn’t be good enough for him. It would feel like a settling HEA. Rest assured, there’s no settling here! Saxton and Ruhn are so perfect together! I mean, I won’t go into much detail about Saxton because I’ve been a fan for a while so lets focus on the unexpected for me here, Ruhn.
Ruhn really stands out as the best and most unexpected part of this book. He was the one I had no clue what we were really going to get. And no clue how he was going to act around Saxton. I fell in love with him from the very first time we get his POV. There’s a tenderness and innocence about him that you can’t help but be drawn in by. At the same time, there’s so many layers to him that you get to slowly peel back and uncover. The things that shaped him and made him who he is. The small things that he finds joy in. Gahhhh. Where the Brothers are always larger than life, Ruhn is that sweet real life man that’s perfectly broken. I wasn’t expecting him but he was a highlight for me.
BLOOD FURY was a perfect addition to the Legacy series and another fun, all-consuming ride through the Black Dagger Brotherhood world. I couldn’t have wished for better.

“When you had everything in the world, it never dawned on you that there were chances to miss.”
I still really enjoyed this installment, but I have to be honest and say that this was my least favorite in this spinoff series thus far! I love Novo, I love Ruhn, I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE Saxton with the sum of my being, but I honestly dislike Peyton. And, like, look at the cover… he’s probably the main character of this book, even though he shares the spotlight with the three others.
But before I even get into this review major trigger/content warnings for miscarrying, talk of abortion, death of a child, and thoughts of suicide. The BDB world always has erotic sex scenes, violence, gore, abuse, killing, and war themes in general, but this book put a heavy emphasis on every mother’s worst fear: losing a child. I have never been pregnant, and it was still very hard for me to read. I was crying so very much while reading some of this book, so please use caution.
This is book three in a spinoff series to The Black Dagger Brotherhood which is publishing its sixteenth book in 2018. It’s a huge series that I love with all my heart, but I completely understand that it’s quite the task to catch up to be able to read this series.
In the Black Dagger Brotherhood we follow a bunch of powerful vampires, that are in an elite group that protects humans, vampires, angels, and a bunch of other paranormal entities, and they all live in this big mansion, and they all are one big family that’s just saving the world. Well, in this series, Black Dagger Legacy, we get to see a younger generation of recruits, trying to join the elite protection force.
Okay, so Blood Kiss is Paradise and Craeg's story, Blood Vow is Axe and Elise’s story, and Blood Fury is Novo and Peyton’s story. Which leaves only Boone’s story, and he is such a man of mystery, and I’m so excited!
Peyton is the typical rich and stuck up vampire, with royal blood running through his veins. Novo is the tough girl, who distances herself and won’t allow anyone to get through her defenses. Yet, Novo has always had a soft spot for Peyton, no matter how much she tries to ignore her feelings. Unfortunately, Peyton still believes he is in love with Paradise, but he quickly realizes he doesn’t know the first thing about loving anyone, including himself.
Okay, so I said above that I’m not the biggest Peyton fan. He just makes everything so much harder for himself. And he makes so many insensitive jokes about suicide that honestly made me want to DNF the book every time I read one, and I’ve never felt that way about a JR Ward book ever. He also kept comparing so many girls, and borderline shaming them because of their appearances and being “too girly.” I hated being inside his head for most of this book. And obviously he gets way better the closer you get to the end of the book, but it was a long journey and it took me ten days to finish this book because of it, where normally I can’t put down any book set in this world.
But, Lord, help me, I almost converted to liking Peyton because chapter thirty-three was so damn good. JR Ward writes the best sex scenes, I swear to God. And I honestly want a whole book just about the Keys and all the “activities” that go on in that club
But Novo’s journey was beautiful, and heart wrenching, and completely perfect in every way. Reading her story was a joy and I give JR Ward all the credit in the world for telling this tale. Novo also had some very authentic panic attacks and anxiety representation, too, on top of seeing her deal with trauma and grief and the impact that everything had on her and everyone around her. I loved seeing her as a main protagonist.
Novo is also dealing with the pressure of her sister, who is seemingly perfect, getting married, and wanting a very human-like ceremony that she insists Novo be a part of! Novo does make one sort of gross comment about feminism at one of these wedding events, and it’s important to state and not make excuses for what she said, but I’m just going to try to ignore it. But I love how Novo completely tears typical beauty standards to shreds in this book, and shows that being strong and surviving is one of the most beautiful things in this world. I love Novo and I can’t wait to see more of her in the BDB world.
Okay, Saxton and Ruhn! LORD, HELP ME. Okay, first off, perfection. They are perfection. Like, they are five stars. No, six stars. No, ALL THE STARS! If you guys go back and read my previous BDB reviews, you will know I shipped Blay with Saxton very, very much. Blaylock is my favorite little cinnamon roll, and I will protect him at all costs. Also, Qhuinn is easily my least favorite brother and my least favorite character in the BDB world. Like, he almost ruined The Chosen for me completely. But anyways, I went into this book scared that I wasn’t going to like Saxton and Ruhn together, especially with how Saxton was feeling at the start of this book. Boy, was I wrong. I love them both so much.
Saxton and Ruhn’s story gets started when Wrath assigns Ruhn protect and look out for Saxton, while Saxton is settling a property battle for a nice vampire widow that lives next door to Blay’s parents in the country. Saxton is very openly out, where Ruhn is learning and processing that he has attraction and feelings for a man for the first time.
Ruhn hasn’t had an easy life what so ever, and you learn all about his backstory in this book, but he is always there for his niece, Bitty, and for the rest of the brothers, too. He is so happy when Wrath asks him to be Saxton’s body guard, because he can finally feel like he is earning his keep. But things quickly progress at the country house, for the better and for the scary. I will be honest and say their relationship did feel a little instalove-y, and there wasn't that much build up to make it super believable, but I loved Saxton and Ruhn’s love story, and I can’t wait to see so much more of them.
And I have a very strong suspicion that this won’t be the last we see on Minnie and her grandchildren, either!

This was the first book by this author that I read without skimming in years. If you visit my review of the last two books in this series you'll recognize the theme of me asking: "Why couldn't this be just one story". Though I still wish that each character had their individual books I loved these stories in particular. All the breaks in-between were stress inducing and harsh, though everything tied beautifully in the end.
Novo was such an exciting character to get to know because she's always been mysterious and closed off in past stories. I like how she does things and deals with things in her own way. She doesn't need anyone but welcomes Peyton in anyway.
Peyton proved to be a good person throughout the story. It's sad that it took that horrific accident in the field to make him realize that who he "needed/wanted" wasn't Paradise after all. I liked seeing him evolve and I would love a side story about him and Novo a few books from now.
Saxton and Ruhn was such an adorable couple. I liked the continued respect they had in their peer groups before and after they became a couple. Though it was the second main storyline in this novel I was very invested in their happy ending. Ruhn reminded me of Zsadist in a few ways and made me root for him even more. The almost end had me on the edge of my seat hoping the author wouldn't do to Ruhn what she did to Doc Jane (V's shellan), which to be honest, I hated.
The ending was amazing for quite of few characters and showcased Oskar's inability to act and say no to something he clearly didn't want. I don't feel any sympathy for him because of what he did to Novo. I don't want to see a happy ending for him. Though I would adore another novel in this series featuring Romina or someone else from this new group of fighters!
My Favorite Quotes:
"Truth, like trust, had to be earned."
"Life, after all, was so much more than nostalgia e regrets."
"In order to move forward, you had to let the past go - and sometimes that meant mental shifts that happened on the inside [...]."

Continuing the pattern of a young trainee and an older BDB character having two separate story threads running side by side, I was thrilled that this was Peyton and Novo along with Saxton and Ruhn's stories. There was so much heart in this one as these two romance pairs faced tough pasts along with some present dangers.
Blood Fury is the third book in the Black Dagger Legacy and cleverly runs a parallel side story within the greater world of the Black Dagger Brotherhood series without stepping on any toes there. While this series doesn't need to be read in sync with that series per se, I'd at least suggest that it isn't begun until the reader has gotten at least as far as The King in the BDB series so the Legacy series makes sense.
Peyton and Novo are both BDB trainees and have been around since they were introduced in Blood Kiss. Peyton is a son of an aristocratic Glymera family and Novo comes from a social climbing commoner family. Saxton has long been part of the BDB series as the King's First Counsel and Blay's lover who was set aside when he and Qhinn reconciled. Ruhn is Bitty's uncle who showed up as a fairly new character in the last Legacy book, Blood Vow.
If there is a theme to this book, at least at first, it's unrequited love. Three of the four main characters have experienced it and are hurting from it. But, happily, they aren't left to suffer long as the author slips in new chances for them all if they can get beyond their pasts. Novo is a tough as nails chick who has her reasons for the titanium steel wall she has built around her emotions that somehow Peyton has a way of getting past even though she sees him as a spoiled rich boy at first. Peyton has his own hidden burdens to bear. Oddly, Saxton and Ruhn have the whole class difference romance and Saxton struggling to not get his hopes up a second time especially since he believes Ruhn to be straight. While Ruhn feels he has nothing to offer someone like Saxton though his loyalty, heart, and honesty shine so beautifully in Saxton's eyes.
The plot shifts back and forth between the two pairs with confrontations with gangster humans and lessers to keep things interesting. I really felt for all of them and the way they were hurting. I cheered them on as they found their romances.
There are a list of people I wanted to boot up the butt, but I think Peyton's jerk dad and Novo's witch of a sister lead the list. Waste of oxygen on either of them. There was something of a mystery to me of what was fueling Peyton's dad's hate and what was the big dark secret the girl that was being shoved at Peyton was. I hope it gets resolved in the next book. And man, the agony of Assail off in the background and Qhinn's brother have me glad that Assail's book is next.
Unlike the older series, the Legacy books are much less complicated than the older series that has a complexity of plot threads running through it. I like the change in gears of going back and forth between the two and still getting the author's fantastic writing and style and the BDB world in both.
So, I definitely recommend readers not skip this Black Dagger Legacy series if they love good Paranormal Romance.

I. Loved. This. Book.
I cannot adequately express how much I fell in love with the characters of this book or how much Ms. Ward made me cried to the point I had to stop cause I couldn't see the pages.
On one hand, we have Novo and Payton. Two trainees from the Black Dagger Brotherhood soldier's program. On the surface, Novo is a hard-assed female that takes no bullshit from others and keeps everyone at a distance. Deep down she is as scarred by her past as any of the Brothers and we get to see a side of her that does not diminish her tough exterior but that explains so much of her character.
Payton is not far behind with all the crap he hides under that carefree persona. There is a male of worth in there that just needs a push (okay more like a shove and a two by four in the head) to get his ass in gear and do what is needed to come out on the other side of thing a new male. That is what Novo does for him and I am happy with how things moved along for them.
On the other hand, we have Saxton and Rhun. I have loved Saxton's dignity and acceptance from the very beginning. He is a gentlemale and an awesome solicitor/lawyer (more so when having to deal with Wrath on a nightly basis). Rhun for his part was a mystery worth waiting for. His past and his personality were a heartache and a delight to read. I think J. R. Ward has a knack for writing wounded warriors and have them express their feelings without taking away from their manliness.
And what a surprise Saxton turn out to be at the end. I didn't even think that behind those expensive clothes hid that kind of power.
More and more I fall in love with J. R. Ward's writing and with the BDB world. I just can't wait until April for the next release of this awesome storyteller.

Blood Fury is the third of the Black Dagger Legacy series, a spin-off of the Black Dagger Brotherhood, by J.R. Ward. I found these books at a time when I was going to give up reading vampire paranormal romance novels. I was prepared to give them one last try and be done. Admittedly, I am still wary of the sub-genre, but this series is now one of my favorite paranormal romances. The Black Dagger Brotherhood helps keep the vampire race safe from the Omega and his Lessening Society. The Legacy books deal with the training of the next generation of fighters against this threat.
The focus characters in this novel are Payton, Novo, Saxton, and Rhun. Although feasible one could read this book as a stand-alone, I would not suggest it. In Blood Fury, the romances develop for the main characters, but each has been a part of past storylines. Their bonds will be more fulfilling if you first experience some of their lives. Personally, I most enjoy series novels when they follow multiple characters over several books. I feel more invested in them and their relationships this way. Without spoiling any plot points, all I can say is the romance in this book was very satisfying for me.
The development of the characters in Blood Fury was compelling through their good and bad situations. The relationships they formed and actions they took felt natural to my prior conception of who they are as individuals. A concept throughout the Black Dagger series is with the aristocratic vampires, or glymera, and their rules against socializing with the civilian vampires. There is, however, a good balance between the aristocracy and more open-minded beings uninterested in the glymera's agenda. Every book I read the dry, sarcastic humor makes me laugh out loud. With the injustices done trying to keep the vampire race segregated, I need that laughter to ease the irritation I feel. Although humor, in general, is an addition I prefer in any book.
Now begins the wait for the next installment in the Black Dagger world. I would highly suggest this series for any who enjoy urban fantasy/ paranormal romance. All opinions are my own and may not match that of others. I encourage all readers to come to their own conclusions.

MAY CONTAIN SPOILERS -I really enjoyed this book, the whole series actually, because it is a great mix of the Brothers and the new trainees. Peyton & Novo have had a sexual attraction for a while but with Peyton crushing on Paradise nothing was ever going to happen. That whole fascination with Paradise comes to a head, resulting in Novo in the hospital fighting for her life. Saxton is working as the king's right hand man but still in limbo over seeing his ex-lover Blay building a family with Quinn. Very interesting love match for Saxton - Saxton being all smart & savvy & sophicating & put together, and uncle Ruhn with his huge muscles & fighter mentality & simple ways. It works though, it definitely works! :) The story of Novo is also very intriguing as she opens up about her past & since her life just passed before her eyes she is ready to drink from Peyton's pure blood & bond with him. "The little rich boy turned out to be a fearless, horny exhibitionist." We already know Novo's sexual openness as she commonly went to the sex club, but it is super hot when she brings Peyton along! But her open heart slams closed when his father reveals his plan for Peyton's future that certainly doesn't involve a girl like Novo. These couples ends up with their happily ever afters & I love the series so far!

This is book 3 in the Black Dagger Legacy Series, which is a spin off of the Black Dagger Brotherhood series. This series takes place in the BDB world and not along side it like other spin offs.
There are 2 main love stories developing in this book. Peyton and Novo & Saxon and Rhun.
Peyton is an aristocratic vampire. Novo is a brash, sexual and not all aritstocratic. The are complete opposites. Peyton always though he would be with a proper female but the attraction to Novo is hard to deny. In this book we follow them through their romance and learn about their pasts and what made them who they are and got them where they are.
We also follow Saxon and Rhun. We learn about their pasts and watch a budding sweet romance. This is only the second same sex relationship in these books by JR Ward and she writes it beautifully.
As with all JR Ward books these one is hot and steamy and doesnt lack in the sexy department. But with all that steaminess there wasnt as much fighting action in this book, so its a give and take on that. Still a fabulous story.
I love that Ward's vampires are traditional. They cant be out in the sun, feed from others, bond and mate. Its nice to see hardcore vampires.

>Book Review – Blood Fury
>I am an independent reviewer. This book is the 3rd in the Black Dagger Legacy series and ends in two HEAs. There are 2 relationships dealt with in this book. The first relationship is Saxton, the lawyer and Ruhn, the ex-fighter/slave. Ruhn is the uncle to Bitty and feels like a fish out of water. He is a simple man that believes in family first and old school manners. His size and strength tend to put him in the spotlight, yet he is extremely shy. Saxton works for Wrath, but still pines for Blay. He cannot see beyond his unhappiness to any possibility of an HEA for himself. The way these 2 opposites come together is truly beautiful. A drama involving an elderly vampire and some human bullies keep this story line moving.
>The other relationship involves Peyton and Novo, both trainees in the Black Dagger program. Peyton thinks he is still hung up on Paradise, even though she is now mated. He realizes he didn’t know what love was, when he feels a true attraction to Novo. Novo is hiding a lot of past secrets, causing her to be caustic. Both Peyton and Novo have dysfunctional families. Peyton really grows up by the end of the book. Novo learns to trust again.
>This book is appropriate for an adult audience. I am giving this story 5 stars. The story was more about relationships than action. Very little is discussed or accomplished in the Lesser Realm.

Blood Fury is an all-consuming new book in the Black Dagger Legacy that is utterly fascinating and wickedly compelling! J.R. Ward's Legacy series is just as dark, alluring, and full of drama and kick-butt action that is guaranteed to leave readers BEGGING for more. The ups and downs are just as dramatic as you would find in Miss Ward's Black Dagger Brotherhood series and I LOVED LOVED LOOOOOOVED it!
The Big thing that hypnotized me the most was Saxton's HEA. I have been eager for him to get a happy ending since he and Blay ended. When you add in Peyton's and Novo HEA and you get a double wammy of AWESOME that I treasured with every fiber of my being. I don't think I can EVER get tired of seeing the BDB as teachers and mentors. Its fantastic watching them train new recruits and watching them become strong and determined to protect their race. Blood Fury is my new favorite book and I am sitting on pins and needles as I wait anxiously for the next book in this Legacy series. No one can write like J.R. Ward...NO. ONE.
Blood Fury gets a ALL CONSUMING AND WILL MAKE YOU GIDDY FOR MORE FIVE SHOOTING STARS!

Have read the BDL series to date and each one leaves me more disappointed than the previous. Characters are almost identical, too much ridiculous internal dialogue with desperately cliche slang and references. Love the early BDB books and have read them many times, over the past few years the writing has become cheap and formulaic within those as well which makes me wonder if the author is spreading herself a bit too thin.... This will be the final BDL book I purchase.

I have given this a three star rating but i did hover between two and three!
The book was a good easy read, but if it wasn't for the characters, the wonderful sarcastic humour and emotions this book would have been pretty boring! It just didn’t have much of a story. Well....... there is a story, but not what you would have expected from this series. Only one mention of the “lessers” and a bit of bother from some pesky humans. No action and no further forward to where this new series is going to go. This seems to be all about the sex and the individual relationships between the new warrior trainees. I haven't got a problem with this but i would like more substance to the story as well.
Having said that, i liked the characters and their journeys towards finding their own paths and love. The emotions are well written and are certainly all in this book. Friendship, love lost and found, hate, torn emotions, vulnerability, revenge.
We caught up with some of the other characters, which i always enjoy and i am so looking forward to the next Black Dagger Brotherhood book.
I would recommend this book but i would also warn that it is not the normal "kick Ass" story that we know and love.

This was really good. I loved loved loved Saxton and Ruhn’s story! I didn’t realize how sad my baby Saxton was. I just wanted to hug him so tight. And I loved the backstory for Ruhn. It was so sad! I loved how even though he had a horrible past, he was still so shy and sweet. I loved them together. I honestly could have read the entire book from their POV. I wanted more!
I also like Novo and Peyton together. I loved Novo’s backstory as well. It was so sad and really explained why she was so closed off now. I loved how she slowly opened up to Peyton. His growth was more in the beginning by taking responsibility of his life and being committed to the program. The beginning was a little slow for me. There was a lot of internal monologue and i felt like they didn’t interact much. But once they did I really loved it.
This was a great book. I just wish it was longer and had more depth. Maybe even a little more angst. I really enjoyed it though. Especially Saxton and Ruhn. I hope they continue to show up in the BDB series.

J.R Ward's books are so fun to read because she has such interesting characters. Each new book is like a gift.
Peyton is rich, spoiled and from the upper class, but he is miserable. Novo has joined the training program with the Brotherhood to escape from her prior life. They are thrown together in the program and although Novo is nothing like his usual target, he can't get her out of his mind.
I have felt so bad for Saxton every since his relationship with Blay ended with Blah and Quhinn becoming mates. Saxton is of the elite class; he is intelligent, sophisticated, a sharp dresser and miserable. Ruhn is a fairly new character to the Black Dagger books. He is Bitty's long-lost uncle, a gentle giant, illiterate but very courteous and thoughtful. When the King asks Ruhn to escort Saxton as a bodyguard, both are caught off guard by the sexual attraction, especially Ruhn because he had never been attracted to another male.

I loved this book! BLOOD FURY is the third book in J.R. Ward’s Black Dagger Legacy, a spin-off of the Black Dagger Brotherhood series. This release features Peyton and Novo from the Brotherhood training program and Saxton, the king’s lawyer and Ruhn, Bitty’s uncle that was introduced in THE BEAST. BLOOD FURY had two great love stories and lots of action that kept me glued to the pages. I loved every minute of it and can’t wait for the next release. I’m a fan of both of the Black Dagger series and I’m really enjoying this spinoff. The Legacy series reminds me of the first books in the Black Dagger Brotherhood series. If you’re a fan of the series you’ll love this new release and if you’re new to the series I’d recommend starting at the beginning and reading these in order. They’re addicting and you’ll fall in love with all of the characters.

Blood Fury
A Black Dagger Legacy Novel
By J. R. Ward
This was a much anticipated novel for me. I am a huge Black Dagger Brotherhood fan. What is not to love about this series?
Vampires, love, action, locality, mystery...
This book concentrated on Novo and Peyton’s relationship and Saxton and Ruhn’s relationship.
There are so many twists and turns for both of these couples. As usual with J. R. Ward, each character is so deep and beautiful in all of their brokenness. The self discovery and healing from, life, is so satisfying to read. I don’t want to give anything away, so let me just say, if you love this series, you will not be disappointed. If you haven’t read this series...I’m so jealous of you because you get to read it now and experience this world for the first time!!
I recommend this book with all my heart!!

Cannot say how much I loved this book!! The story of Saxon & Rhun along with Peyton & Novo - so very well done! It is not easy to pull off 2 happy ending love stories and an action packed story - but JR Ward blows it out of the water!!
I love the dialogues- both verbal & internal- sometimes absolutely hilarious- I could not put the book down!!
Loved playing catch up with all the Brothers- and I don’t want to spoil anything for anyone- but I did catch the reference about ‘Wrath being worried about another one’!!!!
I NEED MORE BOOKS IN THIS SERIES!!!!

Peyton & Novo
5 Stars
This installment of the Black Dagger Legacy caught my attention instantly. I was through 25% of the book before I knew it! I found myself unable to put it down. It’s a very influential story that keeps you intrigued from cover to cover.
The characters are commanding and persuasive. I often found myself completely relating to them. For a time they made my heart hurt. Peyton and Novo had chemistry almost immediately. I was drawn to their story and couldn’t help but feel a need to know more.
The dialogue flowed with efficiency and the pacing was seamless. It’s not exactly a dark read, but definitely not light hearted either. It’s somewhere nestled in between! The climax did the story justice and the tension build up was breathtaking. It was a beautiful love story.

I love all her books. This is about Peyton and Nova trainee's of the Black Dagger's, and Saxton the King's lawyer and Ruhn uncle of Bitty finding love. In the previous books - Peyton is in love with Paradise but she chose Craeg as a mate, so he's pinning for a lost love and Saxton is pinning for his lost love Blay. I was so happy that this book gives Saxton someone to love. I liked him in the other books. I also liked the background stories of all the characters. They were all lost and struggling with personal demons but brought together to make them stronger. I loved how she ended this book with both stories being integrated with Nova sister's wedding. This book didn't have as much action fighting the Lessers or explain the new created threat in the previous book.

While I have been disappointed lately in some authors I must say that Blood Fury took me back to why I like this series so much.
I have read the reviews on why so many did not like this book but I disagree. I loved both story arcs, loved how it actually gave some background into the emotions that were going on, how Saxton has been feeling all this time after Blay and Qhuinn mated and took Peyton from just being a pretty playboy into a real person. He grew up and it was a joy to watch.
I also liked how Novo had to come to grips with the real reason she was shutting people out and deal with her past and learn to look at people as individuals and not paint with a broad brush.
And can I just say...yes to Ruhn. I absolutely loved that he was "real". He wanted to earn his keep, live a simple life. The glitz and glamour were not for him and he wanted to simply be a civilian. He loves Bitty and keeps her family alive for her, but he was not into the trappings of wealth. It is nice to see more civilians and showing the value they offer to the society.

I actually stopped reading the original series, it was getting too complex and I enjoy my stories a bit more relaxed. Then along came Legacy series and thank all the gods, I'm reading the Warden again and smiling. This is the best one so far, she's found her stride in writing shorter, stories for this world. Running two romances stories at once was great, since the "threat" in this story, while legit, and how they handled things also true to character of the world as written, wasn't going to fill the book as much as adding that second love story, so a two-fer on the love front, yay!
I enjoyed it. Pretty straightforward stories about young folks in love, the stupid thinking they do as a result, and how they get over themselves. Toss in some bullets, a few knives, and sex in two flavours.
This book.
I'm easy to appease.

I usually am first in line for each of JR Ward's new books. I know these are not supposed to be BDB books but an offshoot. But the characters have the emotional depth of a pancake. Each turn of the page was nothing new. With the other books, the brothers have waiting centuries for their mates. These youngsters can't move but for tripping over a mate. In one book three people get a mate. And the biggest problem is they have no life experiences behind them. Oh dear, all I do is drink, do drugs and f people in the bathroom. Oh, whoa is me I've had such a rough life! Sorry but I couldn't even finish this one. Thank heaven I didn't spend any money on it as I got it from the library.

What can I say? I mean it is a Black Dagger Legacy (Brotherhood) book, I know it is not the main group, but it is trainees (mostly). This is great just like all the others. This one made cry several times throughout and laugh at other times. I have to say I never cared for Saxton in the previous books and it was because we had yet to know him and I really like him now. Ruhn, Ruhn, Ruhn - was an awesome character, absolutely loved him. Peyton and Novo definitely had some major issues of their own to work through and part of the reason, tears appeared. I could identify not with their exact problems, but they did strike nerves. These books are always great, best vampire books ever!

Seriously J.R. Ward, how do you keep writing books in this series that I’m absolutely in love with?!? My favorite part is that J.R. Ward introduces characters throughout the series that you get attached to and at some point you’ll get to hear their HEA. I love the emotions, I love the the ups and downs, and I love every single character. Also, can we talk about the wonderful gay relationships!
Honestly, action, sex, love, and a family of their own making... I mean what’s not to love?
I was so happy to see Saxton’s HEA! Also, I love the strength of Novo, and the growth of Peyton. Happy reading!

I took a chance and downloaded this book in Audio Format and I just couldn’t listen to it without laughing every time the male narrator read the parts with the women talking. He sounded ridiculous! These books for the most part are seriously intense among other things and it would have sounded better if he didn’t try to pretend he was a woman. I really think we should be given a choice also and if we want a male or female narrator. I just purchased this book so I can read it. I’m hoping in the future things will change when it comes to audio books because it definitely needs improvement.

Freaking Awesome!
Here is the quick skinny...
Blood Fury was well paced for both story lines.
Novo and Peytons story was a good mix of Romance and finding out about their troubled past and the secrets the were both holding in.
Along with stories of the Brotherhoods training program. Lots of action and excitement.
Saxon and Ruhn getting to help heal each other from the pasts they thought neither one could of them could ever overcome.
With Saxon working so close with Whrath gave us an opportunity to have a generous serving of The Wardens Slices of Life! Blood Fury with the its story lines weaving seamlessly between both stories gave us a nice glimpses of day-to-day life along with getting to see alot of the Brotherhood and there mates is a big plus for me.

I gulped this book down in a 24 hour period. Of all of Ward's books this is the most straight forward romance...a true vampire romance. It had an element of grittiness but not the complexity normally associated with a BDB book. I wouldn't want this as a regular fare for the BDB books but for a quick feel good read, it was awesome! I liked how Peyton and Novo's characters were expanded I loved Ruhn and his elemental honesty and gentle yet deeply felt love for Saxton. Saxton captured my respect with his unreserved devotion to Wrath and his unrequited love for Blay. He seemed to accept his sexual orientation and his feelings and circumstances with a pragmatism bordering on nobel throughout the BDB storyline.. Blood Fury had a cinderella quality that was fun. I think it's a good transition novel to "The Thief" coming out in the Spring of 2018. I foresee that book returning to complex intensity normally associated with a BDB book.

I like all of the Black Dagger books, the original series and the spin off. Some, of course, I like more than others. Blood Fury, I believe, will be one that I tend to like more. Some books really seem to take the time to delve deeply into the characters and the story, like this one. It didn't seem rushed or abbreviated. I finished the story feeling satisfied that I had really seen a slice of the characters featured. As always, there are cameos from other favorites, as well as hints and teasers for things yet to come. I can't wait to read the next book!

Blood Fury by J.R. Ward provided Laughter, Tears, and Unfolding of Rich Relationships.
The story is told from different POV's, within each chapter, so be prepared to jump from one group of characters to another many times.
I am enjoying this series, and I am looking forward to the next book.
I hope the Author writes more books for the Black Dagger Brotherhood series, or at least transitions some of the Legacies, into the Brotherhood, I really miss reading about the induction ceremonies, with the swords.

Spoilers- I enjoyed the book. Loved the couples and story didn't jump around so much that you got lost. However in what universe would a couple of humans be able to kill a massive vampire who should have been expecting trouble?! Or would multiple trained vampires allow a lesser to be alive long enough to attack. I don't feel the book has worthy bad guys anymore and i cant get excited about humans being executed. I did like the love story parts, just wish the action was better and for more worthwhile villains.

Why do I want to read this book again and I just finished it? I need more! It was intense. It was beautiful. It was suspenseful. I got all the feels with this book! Laughter, Crying, Rage, everything. It was amazing! J.R. did not disappoint! I can't wait for the next installment. Right now I am trying to decide if I am going to read it again (True Story). I just did not want it to end.

I have read quite a few of the BDB books and almost always enjoyed them. As a Black Dagger Legacy book I was hoping to get the same experience from this one and was not disappointed. I loved watching the two couples grow together -- Novo / Peyton and Saxton / Ruhn -- and revisiting old favorites from previous books. If you have read BDB books and liked them, you will like this one as well.

Alright I have to say that this book was much much better then the last one. Although I still have many questions that the Warden needs to answer for. All things good were in this story aside from obvious setbacks as always. I was happy with the story and the characters that finally got their happy ending. But once again. Warden! You still have some splaining to do for that last hoax if a story and it better be good.

Let’s face it, I love anything that has to do with the BDB world. Anyone that knows me at all, knows that. My only complaint with Blood Fury is, I would have really enjoyed seeing both of these stories being told in their own books, where they could have been stretched out some more, gone further into detail, etc. Still, I thoroughly enjoyed it. ?
By the way, I’ve liked Saxton in previous books, just wasn’t over-the-moon over the character. But after Blood Fury, I have to say, Saxton’s a badass! ? Love me some Ruhn, too! Oh, and Peyton and Novo, of course!

I have loved the black dagger brotherhood through all of the books and this book was no different. The Warden has such a unique writing style I wish she wrote every book that I read. My only complaint with this book was that I wish that Saxton had gotten a full novel all his own and had not needed to share. I loved all the references to Assail and I can't wait for The Thief!!!

It wasn’t a page turner like Devil’s Cut but on to the next one! I found myself skipping over several paragraphs in disinterest, however Ms. Ward is an excellent writer and I will always read her books. The romances here just didn’t do it for me.
And Bound to Darkness was written some 2 years prior so Ms. Adrian’s Rune is the original fighter!

I am so happy for Saxton , he so deserved this . Was quite surprised to find that secret about his father Wowzer...!
Novo's and Pey-Pey , how funny are they , I think because they saw each true self it was comforting to be together .
My one wish was to see Oskar with some back bone, but it didn't end like that.

I loved the first few BDB books. They were funny, well written and super sexy. The longer the series goes the less awesome it gets. I have not liked any of the 3 books in this sub-series. Repetitive, mindless plot. I've invested so much time I want to see if through but if she doesn't bring the spark back I might call it quits.

Reading The Thief - there was bit where Saxton & his mate Ruhn -- wait what?? When did Saxton find his mate??? I am not fond of Black Dagger Legacy series - the main focus on "trainees" however the side story on "main" BDB characters I enjoy. I skim the main story basically to get to GOOD bits.

I've read all the books in the series up to the current Thief book. The author seems to be moving away from the original group of characters and is now adding new blood so to speak, into the storylines. For now, that will work. I'll keep reading them as J.R gets them written and they come down in price in soft bound.

I just loved this book. It reminds me of the earlier books when the romance was as important as the action and continuing the storyline. I have enjoyed all of the books in this series, but this one highlights the romance and relationships, without too many merging stories and subplots all at one time. I just loved it!

This was definitely a great addition to the series. I only wish that it would've been more about the primary couple than the secondary. At a certain point, it shifted to being more about Saxton's romance than Peyton's. Still glad to have read it though

I'm a BDB fan, but I'm not feeling this series so much. Two love stories in this one with mentions and visits of our veteran vamps which I love. Not sure what else to say, maybe bring on the next one. This one was entertaining enough but I felt it was lacking something for me.

J. R. Ward is an amazing writer. She pulls you into her books so deeply that you’re living it with them. Each of her endless characters are so alive and complete that it’s hard to believe you don’t actually know them. You get to the end of a chapter and you can’t stop there, because you’re dying to know what is going to happen next. I’ve been a huge Black Dagger Brotherhood fan for years. I wasn’t sure if I was going to like the Black Dagger Legacy series when she started it. However, I have loved each book in the series. Blood Fury is my favorite. If you like the Brotherhood, you have to read the Legacy series.

There is not much action in this one. No real mystery to be solved. So it feels slower, but it is still a good read. There are two stories in one so that's nice. I borrowed the book from the library. I don't see myself buying it to add to my collection.
