Mark Divine gives some good points that have come in handy in my military career. His point of view comes from far eastern ideals, and they have some good points to help people be successful in whatever they want to do.

I started reading Unbeatable Mind and read about 1/4 of it before I put it down. This just was not a book that I enjoyed reading or got anything from.
I'm not condemning the book. There are no doubt other readers that will take a lot from it. Just didn't grab me.

I am a career LEO/Trainer/SWAT and this book should be required reading for all LEO. You have to get your mind right and this book is a great start. I highly recommend it. Read it and then read it again.

An incredibly insightful book on the process of developing Mental Toughness. Learned many things I was able to put to use immediately. Add that to the fact that the author obviously walks his talk and I got exactly what was promised. A book that acts as a blueprint for developing a "never quit" attitude and an Unbeatable Mind.

Very clear and serene message. This book has motivated me to explore the whole concept of breath control and Yoga as a possible keys to the "inner universe". Being able to control the chaos between our ears is the lifelong struggle of "me vs. me". Commander Devine has thrown out some breadcrumbs to lead us into clarity. It is now time to follow those breadcrumbs. Recommended reading for those seeking mental discipline.

If you want to get to know yourself better and want to develop an "Unbeatable Mind" then this is the book for you.

There are many great points in this book that you can apply in real life situations. And if you're looking to turn over a new leaf in your life I would suggest joining the Unbeatable Minds Academy. [...]

Although there were some valuable elements to this book, I was a bit disapponted. Peppered throughout are references to Mark Divine's live training and other book. Granted, there were some great topics discussed. But, all the other mentions just struck me like a series of commercials. I can get that on TV. When I buy a book I want what's promised and not commercials.

Really good book, combines a lot from eastern philosophies, NLP and Tony Robbins, performance psychology, etc. Not necessarily all new concepts, but a new way to tie them together. Plus it's fun to have them colored by the experience of a decorated Navy SEAL who's clearly practicing what he teaches. I'm glad I read it and think it will help me perform well in intense and high stakes situations.

I've been pleasantly surprised that this seven book series continues to evolve without becoming boring . The characters are alive and well and continue to surprise and entertain the mind. Excellent series overall, an outstanding achievement for a series with many more than three or for books. Probably my all time favorite.

For someone who is considering to start their journey in self-development this book may give some basic and simplistic ideas. But for anyone who already has any practical experience on martial arts practice, military training, yoga, meditation or mindfulness the book is just another book among hundreds of identical simplifications. The title is bold, but the content is very thin.

I have read a ton of books and bought this one based on subject and great reviews- I was shocked at how over simplified and repetitive this book was with nothing in depth whatsoever. Many self help books are repetitive and supply oversimplified solutions but at least you can get some little gems of info that are helpful. I really couldn't get any valuable info from this book it was a waste of time.

I found the techniques in "Unbeatable Mind" extremely helpful to bettering my focus on everday life. There are no secrets in the book, rather a takes a combination of best practices. The book shows you how to apply them. I am a husband, proud father of a screaming infant, an active duty Marine, and an online student for college, and an everyday student in life. I have many more roles than just that and haveing a good game plan keeps me on top of it all. It is a book with the successful game plan I need.

If you already somewhat had your head together this may not benefit you as many of the reviews here profess. If you need a program planned out for you and appreciate catchy little sayings this may be your book.

The writing is ok, the content is somewhat fluffy. The author idealizes concepts that are not only intangible to his readers, but likely intangible to himself. His experiences as a marine, a student, a professional, etc etc are as exaggerated as the outcome of his idealized system. It was a somewhat interesting read. It failed to reach its goal with me - it was neither motivational, nor was it compelling. It was just, eh, shrug your shoulders, eh, kinda, uh, ok....

I am enjoying this book. I like the content that is included. Unfortunately, the Epilogue is missing from the digital version

The chapters do not start on there own page, and text is not breaking correctly around images. Many of the images are unreadable.

Buy the print version. The digital version is incomplete.

Brainless drivel. The author was able to stumble through high school and then just fumble into a swimming scholarship on the Colgate swim team. How exactly can he write about adversity when his life began so charmed? Truth is he cannot. The techniques he teaches were all learned later in life after he had already succeeded at basically everything he attempted.

My expectation was to learn some hard core SEAL / Entrepreneurial techniques instead he blathers on about far East breathing exercises. Book is so dismal and off putting I dumped it on a friend, after 50 pages, who read it and threw it away.

Terrible work

I believe the guys who are still in the SEALS get a pain with the whole SEAL training industry of which this book is a part. I admire the author for his career & achievements in the military but this book is average at best. If you've read any sort of motivational book you'll have seen this type of material many times before. It's ok but I'm afraid that's all.

This book is okay, not good and not bad. I think that Mark is definitely a mental toughness expert, but I didn't like a few things about this book. First, it seems like he is constantly promoting his other business ventures. Second, on several occasions I found words that were incorrect in the text. For instance I noticed a few times he said "you" when he meant "your". He also misused some other words. Finally, I would have preferred more strategies on how to implement some of these tactics for mental toughness. His stories from his time in the military were fascinating! Overall, I thought that this book could have been told in a better fashion, but I did get some helpful advice and tips from it.

There are tough guys and the rest of us that wish we were tough so we marry tough guys. Finally someone wrote something that can help all of us become better at what we do. If you're like me and want to strengthen your mind then check out this book. It really makes you think with easy to follow principles to help you get from where you are to where you want to be. We all understand that Navy SEALs have figured out ways to thrive under extreme circumstances, so there must be ways to control your emotions and mentality to get that little extra edge to make it. We found this book to be very believable as Mark Divine broke down complicated principles into simple building blocks that anyone can put together. There must be something to the connection between positive attitude, mental discipline and emotional control and Mark really puts it all together in a simple way.

A delightful surprise. I bought it to tap in to the mental toughness required for extreme physical training - to get tips from the toughest of the tough. What I found instead was a holistic, profound manual to elevate the self as a leader across all dimensions of life. I have changed the way I manage my focus and goal setting, as well as how I approach my training. Training is now a whole-of-person ritual. I feel stronger and happier as a result. I have quoted Mark's work in my own leadership book, and recommend his work as a resource for all leaders who want to master themselves so they can be more effective and influential in their personal and professional lives.

Mark Divine's work is an invitation for leaders to step up and resonate with service and meaning in all they do.

This book is built on a lot of new age energy and Zen points of reference. If that works for you, you might enjoy it if you haven't read much on those topics. If you've read a lot on those topics, this is a rehash through a soldiers experience and doesn't provide any unusual or new ways of approaching life through those methods.
It may be valuable to others, but it just doesn't resonate with me

I have been reading this, and listening to CMDR Divine's podcasts. The homework has really helped me stay in the moment (and with 5 children at home), push harder in my workouts, visualize my goals. The pursuit of the disciplines outlined here will really move you into the 1% of successful people.
In response to a reviewer that said it was like an infomercial or that there were constant references to his other products, I must disagree. Yes, there are a couple references to SEALfit and his academy, but they are few and felt in context (not forced). Yes, the end does explain the academy and its benefits, so that you can develop beyond the 100 pages of this book. Having read/listened to a great deal CMDR Divine has produced, I feel like these are to help you reach your best, not simply make money.

This book is amazing and life changing. I feel like I had been looking for the principles and techniques this book teaching my entire life but didn't know where to find it. Well, I finally did find what I was looking for and I'm so glad it did. I love the box breathing techniques along with the various other spiritual, mental and emotional techniques taught in this book. I found the journaling exercises helpful as well. I will continue to use this book as reference for the rest of my life. Now I am knocking off some of the other books on marks reading list. I highly recommend anything associated with Mark Divine including his podcast.

A great read. I have read both the second and third edition of this book and would highly recommend it. It is full of tools that can be used to better yourself every single day. It is the sort of book that you need to keep and read over and over again. Sometimes you are just not in the right space to take on the teaching, but over time you will develop and grow and get to a stage where it will make sense to you to follow this model.

I would definitely buy this book for others and gift it, it has the power to change your life.

Struggling with day-to-day stress? Feeling like you're never getting ahead? The first thing you have to do in order to get your life in order is get your mind right. Unbeatable Mind is a GREAT resource to put you on the right course. You should beware though that in order to get the maximum benefit of this book it will require a commitment of your will and self-discipline on your part. Unfortunately, in today's world, too many people are looking for easy way rather than work at something and then offer negative opinions of such material. If you're looking for a "never quit" mentality, THIS is the book for you.

I'm sad I wasted my time with this, but it was recommended by a colleague and I had a free Prime rental to use.

Mark Divine pretends to know things he doesn't know, but teaches as fact to a seemingly gullible audience. Case in point:

"The energy body is that system of energetic pathways that includes channels on each side of the spine that transmit energy up and down the spine (nadis) and points where the energy channels intersect as they spiral back and forth around the spine (chakras). The energy body is quite elaborate and has been mapped in great detail, yet it is mostly out of reach of Western scientific instruments at this time."

That's enough to get any intelligent human rolling their eyes and moving on to another book. I suggest something like 10% Happier by Dan Harris which also deals with the mind but is rooted in honest research instead of anecdotes and lies.

Mark is a former US Navy Seal but not just any military man, he's a deep thinker, I served in the Marines & would have known him to be an amazing leader. He emphasizes both physical & mental bot also emotional strength, perhaps the most important. There are lessons in here to heal as well as gain the edge for your sports performance, it's really about performance enhancing your life!

Great refresher on how to live an exceptional life. Clear and to the point and a quick read. I believe we all need to hear this message of personal power and if you've heard it before this is another perspective that might give you the clue you've been missing. I had my 'ah ha moments' and my 'I need to practice that more' and maybe I need a coach to help bring it all home and keep me on track. I also purchase Mark's revised edition of Eight Weeks to Seal Fit and I look forward to diving in to that one and signing up for one of his camps. Thanks Mark for sharing your story.

I have an audible version of this book that I've listened to 3 times and I'm on my 4th. I'm in my car for a few hours a day so it's a perfect opportunity to catch up on my "reading". My husband turned me on to Mark Divine and his SEAL team techniques for improving your personal and business life. The majority of this book is chocked full of motivating tools and resources. As I was driving I found I kept wanting to write down things to remember for later but trying to do this while driving, not a good idea. That's why I purchased the book. I HIGHLY recommend this book to anyone who wants to take their home and work live to a higher level.

The content is strong however it's still very frustrating that I have a large red "X" on my Kindle Fire where an illustration is supposed to be. This happens in almost all cases for illustrations. I expect better. The rerelease notes say these issues were addressed however that's just not true.

This is one of those books I wished I had read before I joined the military. Mark lays out a clear cut path based on stories from his own life. He's been there, done that, and has wisdom ready for those who choose to listen.

Unbeatable Mind is an excellent book and way of life. There is no doubt in my mind if anyone who commits themselves to the principles and techniques of Unbeatable Mind will reach their 20x factor. Mark will be the first to say that reading the book alone will not get you where you want to be. You need to plan your work and work your plan to become whole person you want to be.
Since reading Unbeatable Mind i have read Way of the Seal and joined Mark's Unbeatable Mind program. I purchased both books for my son and have strongly encouraged him to participate in the online program.
As i stated earlier this book will teach you how to attain your 20x factor and it teaches you to do it in the right way.

As a student and instructor of the martial arts for 43 years, I found this book to be an invaluable asset to unlocking the hidden power of the mind. The knowledge and understanding conveyed within these pages is so relevant to every aspect of our lives - personal, family, social and professional. it is the missing link to not only maximizing performance, but more importantly as a guide book on how to live a fulfilled life through developing autonomy, self mastery and purpose. A must have item for any dedicated, true martial arts instructors reference library, and a must have companion to The Way of The Seal, also by Mark Devine.

My personal situation is that I am still in my first year of exposure to Coach Divine and what, for me, has become his fabulous teachings. My review of this book is really quite simple...one of the most important books I've read in my long lifetime. Mark's writing style fits my reading style very comfortably and I really enjoy each and every new chapter I've read. Also, I find that I had to push myself thru the book to complete it because the impact it had, and is still having, on me is profound. I found that I would read part of a chapter, then go back and underline key statements and phrases, then...really get into a strong level of concentration as I made certain I was absorbing the key content I had just read and reviewed. For me this is serious reading because I believe in Coach's teaching and training concepts and I am trying to effectively implement them into my daily life. None of us does it all the right way every time, but this book is crafted in a way that I have expanded my path forward. This is now a key part of my personal roadmap and I will use it as a reference book, not just a book once read. Can't do anything but help you...a great read!!

A must read. Don't listen to the nay sayers. This book is about positive self improvement and does provide information regarding eastern practices. Other reviewers may be ethnocentric and put eastern knowledge down, but do not look into the actual research on the topic. Many other leadership books are too theoretical, while UM provides a 5 mountain approach and creates the balance many of us are missing in life.

I bought this book to get an advice from someone who faced and overcome real life challenges.
However, I don’t think the author really knows what the real life challenges are. He got a good start in life: university scholarship, no trouble of getting a good job, an opportunity to get a CPA and MBA for free, etc.
He CHOSE to go to become a SEAL to have more challenges in life. Not everyone has this privilege.
Some people can’t focus on things they like, because they work all their free time ruining their health, just to be able to pay for their eduction. Some people live in countries with opportunities what so ever. Some peole can’t get a job because beacause they are “wrong” race or skin color. Those challenges are real!
Meditatation, eating healthy and exercise are not going to solve that.

Sometimes the book felt like a promotion of author’s fitness program.

The book has has a lot of conceptions but no structure. Too many strange acronyms.

P.S.: Also if you actually speak Japanese, lived in Japan, and you understand how not perfect their society is, it is hard to take serious advices from some japanese sensei.

When the student is ready, the teacher appears. This was the case when I found the Unbeatable Mind book and program by Mark Divine. The chapters start you at the base camp level and take you to heights you've never been. This journey is a lifetime of work and the book will take several reads, but each time you will glean new insights in how to be mentally tough.

I have recently participated in both the UNBEATABLE MIND and SEALFIT online training. This is an excellent Primer for the online training. I found the UNBEATABLE MIND online training and this book go hand in hand. Are all the concepts new? No but the concepts presented make you think and there are many new concepts. I found a good deal of what is presented in the book is a combination of both military leadership training and corporate leadership training. Well worth your time. Read the book and follow the UNBEATABLE MIND training and you will grow and move to a different level.

A lot of visual examples and also profound exercises very well explained.

For me the perfect extension to the Unbeatable Mind Academy and a MUST for everyone looking for improvement and new points of view.

Good content that will be a little repetitive for those with "sheep dog training" in their background, but well worth the time nonetheless. I have no doubt the Unbeatable mind / Sealfit programs are well worth the time and money, but I expected more detailed editing and refinement in what amounts to a sales pitch for their high speed programs. Obvious grammar & formatting issues do make me wonder about the level of quality in the other products. However, the information and techniques presented here are rock solid and will benefit everyone from an operator to housewife.

If you've ever wanted to learn how to "think like a Navy SEAL", or simply find calm and focus in your life to find your own inner power and strength, this is a great book. The accompanying online course is terrific as well. I've worked as a life coach for more than a decade, and I'm always looking for excellent tools not only for myself, but also to recommend. I've had many very deep a-ha moments about myself and my own outlook on life that have really spurred me forward. I recommend this for anyone who's wanting to take new steps forward.

Insights from a true warrior on how to use your most powerful weapon (The Mind) to overcome any obstacle that may be in the way of you living the best life you can. The principles used have come from many ancient sources all narrowed down for the common man to become uncommon and leave mediocrity to someone else.

Mark has written a powerful book. It is not too long or convoluted. But concise and to the point. His approach to thought interception and redirection is excellent and I have been using it in my training sessions all around the world.

This book is helpful for providing benchmarks but if one cannot afford Commander Divine's book, then little in how-to is in the book. The work does read easily and is interesting, yet I am left with a sense of something missing.

This book is a great overview of psychology and life interactions with others. It does leave some areas a little vague but overall a good book, and would be excellent for someone who is in a rut in life and is looking for a ways to get themselves out.

I like Divine's other books, but this one is filled with jabs at the Clintons and Obama. Has not aged well in the era of Trumpian idiocracy. Tossed this one. How can you speak of honor when you make passive aggressive political jabs? Doesn't walk his own talk.

I rarely review books but had felt the need to be a bit of a negative nancy on this one. It was boring, full of Navy SEAL braggery and rather unoriginal. I didn't try the companion workbook so I can't vouch for the specific exercises but the book by itself offers very little new aside from generic rants about honor, compassion, discipline etc. Sorry but I gained nothing and lost a day or two reading it

The book was great and magnificent. I like when he described that there are two wolves that make up the mind. One is the fear wolf and the other is the courage wolf. We should starve the fear wolf and feed the courage wolf.

This is a great book! It’s any easy read with extremely fundamental advice on personal growth, stuff that you can immediately put in your back pocket. Most of the information isn’t too deep and is accompanied with personal stories, which makes the book entertaining and easy to digest. I felt good finishing this book!
