The excerpt grabs my attention immediately. I love Alice Ward’s stories. This one is no exception. The chemistry between the 2 main characters is so vivid you can fell it. Even the minor characters are fun and engaging. I highly recommend this book.

Love it! I couldn't put the book down. Scarlett is an OB nurse. Langston is a doctor is going overseas. One night they meet at a bar and hook up. Next day Langston is gone. This author took us to new height with this story line. It has been a while now since I have read a book that started with a couple who meet after their eyes meet across a room and then we were taken through their love story that showed class emotion tears love and just plain getting to know each other. Thank Alice.

Wow what a surprise for sure! I absolutely LOVED this book. Scarlet and Langston have a great story that you just don’t want to put down because you need to know what’s next. The story was sweet but also hot, and left me wanting to read more about this couple. One of the best romances I've read recently. I think that Langston is the most perfect man I've ever encountered! He is sweet, sexy, and seems to say and do the right thing to melt my butter - why can't real guys be like this??!!

A compelling story that not only pulls at your heartstrings, but also makes you feel terrific. Love at first sight maybe not, but certainly unforgettable. Terrific characters. Great story. Wonderful writing. This book has everything.

What beautiful heartwarming story! The Surprise was a delightful emotional whirlwind of love. Langston and Scarlet had such a deep instant connection that actually felt quite real for an instant love story. Watching them navigate through their feelings and surprises was so touching and sweet. Amazing story!

What can I say about this one. I really and truly don't understand all the five star ratings this book got. The Surprise wasn't much a Surprise, it was pretty predictable.  The Surprise was actually the book, if you can call it that. It ENDED at 29%.  This should have been called a novella.  

I started reading and became very bored. YAWNING. I started skipping the pages, then it was done. 

The story was unbelievable. At times I wondered,  REALLY.  No for real, REALLY.  There was no character development. I mean you meet somone, one night, not even a full 12 hours.  Months later it was Surprise!!!  BANG!!! Happily ever after. They didn't even know each other's names. 

Best thing about this book, it's on Kindle Unlimited. 

I really loved this fantastic read from Alice Ward. Really well written, great storyline and fabulous characters, it was interesting to see how the plot and characters developed throughout the book. I enjoyed the story of Langston and Scarlett! I remember laughing and crying with the characters. This is the first book i’ve Read by this author and I found myself planning Times in my busy day to read how the lovers would find their ways to each other. There is a such thing as love at first sight! Enjoy!

Love, laughter and some drama in this book. Two people never expected to cross path and also have similar careers. Some way some how fate intervene and brought them together to try to find a way to become family for the sake of the babies. They both needed each other and find love at the end.

There are not enough words to express how much I loved this book. Langston and Scarlett are perfect for each other. And the fact that he finds her at that particular moment is awesome. I love the storyline, the plot and all the characters. I voluntarily reviewed an advanced copy of this book.

I couldn't help but keep my nose in this book from beginning to end. I laughed, I cried and I smiled. A person never realizes how one night can change their lives forever. I enjoyed how each chapter was written as what was happening with that particular character. I also loved how fate pushed Langston and Scarlet back into one another's lives.

What a beautifully written story. This book has me incredibly emotional right now.

Honest review for unedited version

I have to admit, I only read the first story. To be honest with you, the build up of the two characters I thought the book would be longer. I felt the birth to the happily ever after was rushed.

Favorite quote: " Need to spit the silver spoon out of my mouth for a while.”

I enjoyed reading this book. Scarlett and Langston are too much for me at first with the not giving names but I continued to read and really enjoyed Langston. He stepped up in all ways. I don’t want to give the story away but his determination made the Love Story.

I absolutely loved the more realistic details about labor and delivery and what the post partum period is like. The whole waters broke, instant intolerable contractions, straight to delivery room cliche sure gets old, thank you so much for changing that. Also, I loved the instant connection between these two. Very heart warming!

Ok, so The Surprise was a short, sweet and slightly boring read. No real drama, but fun. The two bonus novellas, Blitzed by the Billionare and Gamble were disappointing. The H in both were very weak-willed, the h were a bit whiny, and everybody had daddy issues.

Blown away by this book. Love Alice Ward. Storyline has you drawn into the story so much you feel like one of the characters. Chemistry is smokin. A really MUST read. Recommend this book to everyone that loves a GREAT book.

I was given an advanced copy and I'm voluntarily leaving my honest opinion. If you want sex, romance and heat then this is a book for you. This is DEFINITELY A ONE-CLICK AND MUST READ. Alice Ward has out did herself again. I was hooked just from seeing the teaser plus the title really fits.

Cute story. Kinda funny and sweet, not really a romcom, more of a billionaire fast and extremely easy read. The dialog wasn’t horrible, the story and world building was light and uncomplicated, kind of bland but I was still able to finish it with out regretting wasting time.
Overall not too bad, if you’re looking for a simple book that won’t pull your mind to far away then you will enjoy The Surprise.

This was an awesome book! I loved how 2 lost soles found each other only to drift apart to reconnect again with big surpsies. Langston’s and Scarlett’s story was beautiful with a HEA. This is a absolute must read and recommend!

Loved this story it was wonderful. A real heartwarming story! I laughed and cried along with the characters. In fact after reading this one I will definitely follow this author. Her characters are real and you find yourself rooting for them and their relationships.

What a delightfully sweet, loving, hopefully, funny book! Scarlett is an overworked labor and delivery nurse who loves her job but finds herself dealing with diva moms-to-be. Langston is an accomplished surgeon but feels the need to escape with a stint for Doctors Without Borders. The night before he leaves, he ends up at the same bar with Scarlett and yadda, yadda, yadda, they both give in to a no-strings-attached night with no names or phone numbers. But irony plays her twisted card and this labor and delivery nurse finds herself the patient. Then Langston's plans all go up in smoke and he returns stateside. Let the comedic drama unfold! I super loved all the medical references in this book (which brings out the WebMD nerd in me.) Scarlett and Langston were both mature adults and didn't play any relationship games. It was just a really fun, lighthearted, REAL book. I mean, who else talks about leaks and stitches?!

I liked the book, I didn't love it. It was hard for me to get into it, it had too much detail that seemed to bog me down and caused me to skim. Midway through it picked up and was ok. I didn't read the two bonus books included when this one ended at 29%.

The Surprise is another great one by Alice Ward. I enjoyed the book a lot and you can't put down the book in the middle. I thought with how long it was, it was going to drag on at times, but I was pleasantly surprised that it didn't do that and I read it in a day.

This was my first time to read Alice Ward. All three of the books included with The Surprise grabbed me at the first chapter and kept me quickly turning the pages. Strongly recommend this book and now I am off to see what else Ms Ward has written.

From beginning to end I loved every part. You always hope that there are really love stories where the connection is immediate.
You will laugh, cry, and say a lot of "Really!"

Alice Ward is becoming one of my favorite authors, because she really knows how to write a good story! I love that the female main character is a delivery nurse. That job has always seemed interesting to me. Overall this book doesn’t disappoint.

Oh this was so stinking cute! I loved the story and the characters. She was strong and independent. And he was sweet and caring. I loved that right away he stepped into things. Perfect together wit a happy ending.

Good story. I just could not feel the love and connection in it. This is a great author check out all her books I am sure you will find something you like. Maybe don't make this your first read of hers.

For honest review. Scarlett is a neonatal nurse. Langston is a rich doctor from old money and has trust issues . These two had a one night stand that gave more then just a night .what a great story of love and family.awesome.

Even knowing what was coming, this was a very sweet story. It was nice not to feel all the angst in order to get to the HEA. Certainly worth your time to add it to your reading list. You’ll enjoy it. Very well written.

This one is really good! Loved the heat and romance between Scarlett and Langston. found myself reading through the night with this one just to see how it would turn out!! was not disappointed. definitely a keeper.

This one is by far my favorite of this author. I love the dynamics of Langston and Scarlett's relationship. I really enjoyed how it evolved. The pendulum comment was gold! I hope Amy gets her own story. She was a riot.

Short and cute but I felt like I kinda got ambushed.. The story was too short with not enough plot or character development. What I thought would be a BOOK was a short story. I tried to read the rest of the filler books but couldn't stretch it .

Oh my I liked this book. I can’t say enough about it. It’s well written and the connection between Langston and Scarlett is amazing. You could really feel the chemistry between them. This is one of her best.

This was a fun read. I did not expect their situation, so I guess “The Surprise “ is the perfect title. I had to laugh at how everyone came across like he had done the running away. Great quick read.

I liked the first book. I never do like when an author tacks on more books to the one you get. I personally feel like Kindle addition hooks should be just one book not 3 in one that have nothing to do with each other!

I received an ARC copy for a review. The Surprise was a really great book. The characters were full of emotion and strength. Storyline was able to keep me intrigued. Scarlett is a young woman with a heart of gold. Good friends and the type of person that always do the right thing. She meets Lngston at a bar she wasn't even suppose to be at. Take a chance and spends the night of her life with him. Langston spends the next 6 months thinking about the woman he left behind. Some tragedies occur that brings him to the one place he never expected to be, facing the one person he hasn't been able to forget...

Every book was enjoyable to read. I will look forward to reading more books by this author. Kept my attention from beginning to end.

Don’t get me wrong I love a good sex scene but this book also delivers great detail on the characters. It wasn’t all about the sex, there was great character development and backstory. Definitely one of my top favorite reads!

I can't believe how much I enjoyed this book! I am a big Friends and Greys Anatomy fan and having references in there endeared me to reading this even more. I definitely recommend reading the Surprise!

Definitely a page turner and a non stop read. Get ready to really feel like you know the characters. Even though it’s obvious that it’s a “happily ever after” ending, it is mesmerizing to see how the story ends.
