There was so much filler in this story it was ridiculous. I love the interactions between Elliot and Catherine, but the mundane aspects were a little excessive. I understand that it was helping to build to the ending, but it could of been 100 pages shorter and still had the same impact. The ending was intense x7.

While this is one of my favorite authors, she broke the mold this one. The story built with the relationship of two teenagers you gradually fall in love with. You fall in love with the relationship as they struggle and fall deeper into a more mature relationship. And as the story takes many twists, the book is impossible to put down. Deeply moved, thrilled, and surprised are just a few words to describe my reaction to this book. A must read. I feel the post book depression already coming and it has been only 5 minutes since I finished.

Wow. Wow. Wow. Wow! This is my first book from the author and I was hooked from start to finished. I thoroughly enjoyed reading Elliot and Catherine’s story even when it was sad at times. I thought I had the ending figured out, but there’s NO WAY I could’ve predicted the twist at the end. I am now a huge fan of Jamie McGuire!

I ran across this book on my Facebook page and thought I'd give it a shot since it was in KU. I could not put it down! This book literally blew my mind! I got to the end and my jaw was hanging from the floor and all I could do was stare at the screen in shock. Wow. Just wow! This book is a must read!!!

This book was beyond phenomenal. I was easily swept up in the pages, bound by her words until the very end.
I was always guessing, trying to figure out the secret, but I had no idea. None.
I can tell this is going to be a book I will reread and I feel like I may love it more the second time through.

Man. I LOVE Jaime McGuire. Her stories give you everything you need. Suspense that makes you keep turning the page, grief, love, relief, sadness, hope. I could keep going. I sure wish the story continued but man was it great. I haven’t missed the plot twist in a book in Over a year but this was amazing.

I’ve been an avid reader of Jamie’s books but this one just doesn't do it for me. It was hard for me to keep in it and not be able to relate to the characters. Just not for me. I will still be looking for her next read and hopefully next time will be able to connect with the characters.

Loved this book! The suspense was great and kept me guessing, the romance was so sweet. It also dealt with some heavy social issues and family issues.
I’m from Oklahoma, so I enjoyed the descriptions. My experience with Indian Nations, and reservations is very different from what was described in the book. And I personally have not seen the type of racism described in the book towards Native Americans, but that doesn’t mean it doesn’t exist.
Overall, fantastic and intriguing story.

I enjoyed this read. It was a bit different than other books I've read from Jamie. I pretty much caught on to the plot about half way through. I just think the book was a bit to long and took way to long to reveal what was going on. But if you like a little suspense, than this is definitely a worth while read.

I would retitle this novel and consider it YA. Also, there was so much going on it could of been broken out in to two books. I guess the secret early on but it was still interesting to see where the author would go with it. Recommend to those looking for a YA romance with a mystery element.

What a beautifully tragic story of love, family, survival and courage. I am so blown away by the wonderful story about Catherine and Elliott and a love that blooms early and overcomes much. The way these characters grow and evolve is amazing and I am sad to read the last words.

This is a really good book. I am a school counselor by profession, so I appreciated the role the counselor played in this book. I also appreciated the tragically realistic portrayal of Catherine and the complicated nature of abuse and family love. Definitely a book worth reading.

I really enjoyed this story! I saw twist coming, but it was still a great plot line. I deducted one star because there were more intricate parts of the story that were just hinted at and left alone, as well as some blatant loose ends that really needed to be tied up!

This was a great coming of age love story that dealt with some big life issues. It was an awesome read and I couldn’t put it down. I fell in love with the characters. Elliott and Catherine were easy to relate to. If you like YA you have to read this one.

I just couldn't connect with this story! It wasn't what I was expecting and the flow was to slow to keep me invested! It wasn't bad, just not for me so I didn't finish it!

Nicely written YA romance. Elliott and Catherine are meant to be although their journey takes some twists and turns. There's a little mystery here in addition to the love story and that elevated this for me. Thanks to Netgalley for the ARC. Easy read

How sad that in 2018 we still know so little about mental illness. This book managed to touch up on so many important issues such as racism foster care damage done to children raised in dysfunctional families and much much more it was well written

Another fantastic read from Jamie McGuire. My favorite being the Beautiful Disaster Series, but none the less I really enjoyed this book. It was my beach vacation book to read while soaking up the sun rays. Tragic it was over in three days because I couldn't put it down.

Awesome book! Mystery. Romance. Thriller. Suspense. Hard to put down, hardly felt like 400 pages. McGuire creates an intimate connection to the characters you can almost taste the sandy heat or the wind chill.

The story was a bit confusing, not at all What I was expecting. It had a lot of potential but fell short for me. The book ended and I was left with so many questions. Lots of things weren’t explained and I feel upset. I would not recommend this book and I feel bad because I love Jamie’s books “beautiful disaster” is my favorite book ever. This book not so much.

I don't normally rate books but I loved this one! It was hard to put down. There are a few things that are a bit confusing, in a "why would someone put up with this" way, but when the truth comes out....my jaw dropped! Did NOT see that coming! It pulled everything together. Really good read.

I liked her style of writing and description. I was disappointed in the lack of understanding of mental illness and multiple personalities. It made for a good story but also did nothing for the stigma of mental illness.

Overall, the book was ok. About halfway through I was getting anxious to finish it. I felt like it was dragging on. I found myself starting to skim just to get to the ending quicker. The ending was pretty good. Not my favorite McGuire book.

Mind=blown. I have never read anything like this...especially from Jamie McGuire. I love her and everything she writes, and this was no exception.
I figured out the twist about 1/2 way through, but it was fun to see if I was correct. I would recommend this book to even the toughest book critics.

Previously reading the beautiful disaster series I expected something similar but was blown away by this. It was so emotional, at times hard to read because I was scared of what could come next. I was surprised by the ending but then it all made sense. This is an amazing book and I'm sad it had to end. <3

The last few chapters were not what I was expecting at all, makes me want to re-read it to catch any foreshadowing i had missed! 4 stars only because there were multiple patches on the book where I got confused on the timeframe , other than that this was a fantastic read. Great story, characters & plot twist.

I was pleasantly surprised. I wasn’t sure where this book was headed but was excited to find out. Jamie’s writing style is one that always keeps me turning pages therefore her books are easily devoured by me. While I still had a few questions at the end of this book it wasn’t enough for me to feel at a loss.

I was caught up in Elliot’s and Catherine’s stories immediately, but found myself skipping over many of the repeated conversations those two had about their future, their lives, their love. Seemed like this book could have used a lot of editing to make it a more captivating book.

Another reason why Jamie is my favorite author! I'm not through yet but it's great so far. One of those books you snuggle up to read at 9:30 when the house is asleep and Oops, next thing you know it's 12:30! Love love love it!

Definitely a page turner
I can't wait to read Jamie Next release.
