I am a big Lora Leigh fan, with the exception of "The Breeds" series I have purchased her books without even knowing the subject matter. That is how good her past books have been. I couldn't wait for this book to be published and purchased it at the first opportunity. This book could have been a great book comparable to "Wild Card", however it read as if it was hastily thrown together with little thought given to plot or character development. There were typos, incorrect grammar, thoughts that were illogical and in some cases had to be reread to make sense of. This is not your typical Lora Leigh book, so I'm not giving up on one of my favorite authors yet.

I won't summarize the book because so many other reviewers have done it so well, but I will say there could have been more of a gradual development of the relationship between the two main characters. An effort was made to correct this flaw in the story by saying that that "Micah" had seen "Risa" from a distance on several occasions and had felt an attraction to her. I liked the "Micah" character, however the story itself was weak. I hope that Ms. Leigh will consider doing a story on Jordan Malone. Readers have already been introduced to him in previous books, I think he would make a fascinating hero in his own right.

I have loved this author for years but last two books I felt cheated out of my money. Now I just dd not like any body in the story. Risa( not because she was raped ), Micah because even though his mom was murdered(in a horrible way ) would use risa that way and all her so -called freinds needed to go to hell (they were not her friend they were just using her to get the bad guy)Thre was not much of the story ( the whore dust thing reminded me of the breeds for some reason(the need for alot fo sex))I could go on and give you a blow by blow but my point is don't buy the book get something else

I will start with a brief synopsis of the book, because it sounds like the perfect action-filled erotic romantic suspense. Years ago, Risa Clay was abducted and experimented on by her sadistic father and his crony, Orion, who also raped her. Though she was eventually saved from a sanitarium, Risa is understandably fragile and avoids sexual relationships. Enter Micah: A former Mossad agent, Micah wants revenge on Orion for murdering his mother and he's willing to use Risa to get to him. As Risa, who initially blocked out her attack, slowly begins to recall details about Orion, she and Micah pose as a couple to draw the assassin out, with the support of other Elite Ops characters.

Now, I'm all for a little recovery from trauma, but after everything this chick went through, she'd be stark-raving nuts! Risa presents as so beaten down, so demoralized, that you just keep waiting for her to either lay down and die or magically grow a pair and get mad. She never moves past the I-need-to-be-coddled phase, although all the other characters in the book make repeated comments about how strong she is. I didn't see it. Just saying.

Micah, throughout this whole ordeal, seems cold. Yeah, I know, he's Mr. Secret Agent, but STILL!!! I never really sensed the connection between the two characters (other than the obvious sexual one) and was less invested in them as a result.

But the sex scenes were typical of Lora Leigh - HOT! I pretty much gave it two stars for the sex. 'Cause that's how I roll.

The story continues...and it's a very good one at that! I truly enjoyed this one and it even exceeded my expectations. The usual LL hot and steamy romance filled with intrigue, twists, and turns. My only complaint was my frustration that it took so long for Micah to stand up for himself and Risa and let her know his feelings.

I am really loving this series. This is the second book and I have really enjoyed both. I can't wait to move on to the next one!

If you enjoy Marliss Melton's and/or Maya Banks' books, you'll enjoy this series.

Maverick is a story about Micah an agent of the top secreat team who is supposed to look after Risa and also catch a killer. Risa who was kidnapped six years ago still has trouble with self confidence. Another lust and sex filled story.

This is the second of Lora Leigh's books that I have read, the first being "Wild Card". Not only was there a great story to this book but the pages were steamy!! and did not have all the sex talk that seems to interfere with the moment. If you enjoy romantic suspense, this is the book for you.

This author is an auto-buy for me and because of that I jump first and sometimes regret it later. Although the male lead character is fascinating, he is never allowed the room to grow as a person because he's trapped as a big ole' sex toy. The female lead is allowed much more room to whine and complain about events of abuse that occurred as long as SIX years in the past. She could have become a MD or a CPA or anything other than a character worshipped for her fragility. When she is praised for stength--it's only minor areas. The book also has characters from past novels that I can hardly remember, even though I read every book. Rather than create a clan of strength, it just seems claustrophobic. I'm still sticking with LL, but this is not a good example. Skip it and save $$ for the next trade paperback size novel.

An intriguing storyline that promises more to come!!! Lora leigh continues to get better with her storyline in Book 2 of her new series. The book is hot, hot, hot! It made me laugh, cry, and I couldn't put it down until it I was finished. Just when I thought no one could top Wild Card's Noah/Nathan she comes up with Micah. Oh my God!!! He is definitely my new favorite!! It's a must read! I recommend all of Lora Leigh's books -- this series is great but the Breeds still are #1!!! She hasn't written a bad book. As a reader from way back, I'm so happy to see her success on the bestseller's list!

Oh my, what a great read. I re-read WildCard in anticipation of Maverick's release. After finishing Maverick, I am only sorry there is not a third installment of Elite Ops ready yet. We've read about Risa in the last few books, so it was really satisfying to get to read her whole story. Micah, like all of this author's males, is all alpha and fits right in with the rest of them. I can't wait to read what Ms. Leigh has planned next.

This is in a lot of ways a very sad book. The lead man and his lady have horrendous pasts that make them the scarred people that they are. Having said that, I did love their relationship with all of its issues and problems. I thought is was a good second book to the series.

I am an avid reader, but I have yet to find a better romance writer than Lora Leigh. Her love scenes are unashamedly well-developed and steam-up the screen on my Kindle. This latest installment is no exception. I recommend reading her series in order, just so the secondary characters are more well-known to you. If this is your first time reading one of her novels, there is no doubt in my mind that you'll soon be hooked as well. Enjoy!

I've loved Lora Leigh's books forever, but I was a little skeptical about how she was going to pull off Risa's story. In earlier books Risa seemed damaged beyond repair, but Ms. Leigh explains her recovery perfectly. Risa is scarred but incredibly strong - no whining, whimpering, oh-woe-is-me, too stupid to breathe heroine. And Micah is unbelievably caring, yet ohhhh so hot!! This was one of LL's best!

I have read all of Lora Leigh's Elite Ops/Navy SEAL books and loved everyone of them. I swear I don't think she can right a bad book. Risa the main character struggles with issues of insecurity but luckily the rugged and sexy Micah teaches her how wrong she is! Great Book!

Could not finish this book. Book was not interesting from the start- don't waste your money. Female character weak and vapid. Male character not developed. No story line at all. Not one of the author's best efforts.

Been reading several of these special operator romances, and I do find them relaxing reads. This one had a bit more sex than I'm used to reading, but since the woman involved has had her sexual identity damaged our hero has to spend more time helping her heal while using her to complete his mission. Both of them worked hard for the happy ever after they won at the end.
