Not often you can find a good story these days that isn't full of sex and violence. The story line is well crafted and compelling and most of all simple. Doesn't go of on a dozen different tangents trying to beef up a poor plot.

I love all of his books, they are just fun and always interesting. Read the past series if you have not ,you will not be disappointed. This book is a one off single story but who knows maybe he travel the galaxy to knew adventures.

Not your typical scfi. Great character development and fast paced action with a lot of twists. Hard to believe that you could love a 40 ft tall slobbering beast. It takes a really good storyteller to make that happen.

This book was an awesome read! I could not put it down, anticipating what was going to happen next. I've read several of his books and I must say this one is one of his best.A great read! On to the next one.

Wow! What a ride that book was. I couldn't put it down so instead I show up bleary-eyed to work the next morning. I certainly hope that Mark is busily working on the sequel or he may get a visit from a loth.

Its written for young SciFi readers. As an adult reader it did not keep my attention. Fell into my category of young man gains super powers and saves his girlfriend while impressing her with his new spaceship.

Just enough science to allow me to suspend disbelief and joyfully join In on this adventure. The Aliens , brutal, gross, slimy, are beautiful at the same time. I read it in 2 days as I do need my beauty sleep!

"But it is the forty-five-foot tall killer beast—a Minal Loth—that will impact is life the most. "

...impact is life...

When the author doesn't even get his commercial right, not the kind of book I want to spend money on.

I'm always on the lookout for new authors, and I use Kindle Unlimited a lot as a place to find them. McGinnis does a workmanlike job with a simple story. Not really science fiction, it could just as easily been done with magic and dragons. A fast, fun read, with a few glitchy bits.

Had to stop after a few chapters. Writing was okay, until I ran into the line where an alien "grinded" it's teeth. Seriously? Is this before it runned away? If only the protagonist hadn't drived his truck into the alien ship. Irregular verbs - an editor fixes those things. Try it next time.

No spoilers, while the few grammar were a little annoying. I just found it a little too unbelievable. I liked the idea behind the story. It was the hooky cheats to make the story line work that killed my enjoyment. I really wished I could have given a better review.

At least it doesn’t take long to realize this is a loser. I find the great majority of Kindle Unlimited books to be poorly written hackneyed attempts by untalented authors. This is yet another. No thanks. Life is too short.

First, I very much enjoyed this book. This is one of those books where the reviews are interesting in their differing reactions. I can see how the readers points of view affected their reviews. The MC was both interesting and naive in so many ways. I look forward to the next book to see where Mr. McGinnis decides to take the character. The author has imagination and the ability to convert ideas into a fun, readable story.

I thoroughly enjoyed this book and will be recommending it to friends who enjoy reading science fiction. Action-packed, smart, and, at times, humorous, I was engaged from start to finish. The characters are multi-dimensional and not cliched, and the writing style is dynamic, yet this book is fun and unpretentious. Males or females will enjoy this book. A perfect holiday gift!

Loved the book. Couldn’t put the book down. The adventure is spell binding, not expected in any way. His finding friendlies and communicating was excellent.

However the proof reading could have been better. Sentence structure at times is wrong and words are misused.

Hard science meets human determination and compassion. Interesting. Intriguing. Exciting. The story has a bit of everything. If it was a movie the audience would be clapping and cheering at the end. Well worth the read.

Great story, well written. Every scene in my mind was beautiful. I would like more of the crews adventures. More evolution of all the characters. Intergalactic adventures. Please make it happen...I want my own Loth......

I thought I had already reviewed this book? I love MWM and although this is sort of the same universe most of his previous books are set in this is before then and has completely different characters. Good read.

In his “Acknowledgements” at the end of Ship Wrecked, the author thanks his line editor for her work. While I have no way of knowing how badly Mr. McGinnis’s original manuscript needed line editing, I am acutely aware of his need for a copy editor. The “final” edition, which I just finished reading, is one of the best/worst examples I’ve seen of a good storyteller who has no clue about proper writing. While someone, somewhere may be able to think of a rule of grammar, syntax, spelling, word usage, or sentence structure that is not broken in this book, in my opinion they will have to look long and hard. The result is a good story poorly told, confusing and frustrating for a more-than-barely-literate reader. A competent copy editor would fill in the difference between two and five stars, surely a worthwhile investment for self-published author McGinnis.

This book could have garnered 4 stars, if not for one glaring, recurring error. The author seems to have an obsession with describing large objects and creatures as “ginormous”. He may think this is edgy and makes the book more appealing to a young and ignorant segment of the reading population, but it is truly offensive to those who have even a modicum of understanding of proper English. Too bad, as the story is inventive and fresh. I was hoping this grammatical abomination would fizzle out in the second book, but no such luck. Time to up your game Mark. Your readers deserve better.

Already a huge fan of the Scrap yard series, this book just blew me away. I can't recommend this book and author enough! Great writing, fun, funny, adventure, fantastic characters, the pages fly by and soon you're looking for the next in the series! Seriously, if you haven't started it already, get to it! I promise you won't be disappointed!

I almost gave up on this one a couple of times, but I’m glad a pressed on.

There’s lots of inconsistencies and editing issues, in addition to some pretty unbelievable science , but overall it was a nice story and a great read. I’m glad I stuck it out.

I’ll definitely be reading more of his books.

I liked Mark Wayne McGinnis' "Scrapyard Ship" series better, but this book was still a great read! The characters are well developed and the story is fast paced. I highly recommend that you read any book by this author! You won't be disappointed!

I have read a lot lately, and this was one of the best books I have read in a very long time. Very well done!

So satisfying on many levels, intelligent, unexpected twists, real compassion, an amazing adventure, and a protagonist that is a truly excellent human being.

And guess what? It has a proper ending too, not a cut off cliffhanger, though the story continues, and I am very interested in what will happen next.

I’m very happy that I have the second book to start right away!
