Mr Smith has done it again!

Trackers 2 is a marvellous read! It picks up right where we left off and dives straight into action. This novel was gripping, action packed and full of imaginative ideas. It is certainly clear that the concepts in this novel where thoroughly researched which makes it easy to get sucked in and feel a part of the world.

I absolutely love all of Nicholas Sainsbury Smiths work but I can confidently tell you that Trackers 2 would make a fantastic addition to anyone's reading repertoire. The author has obviously been working very hard as book three is not long off. I cannot wait to immerse myself in the next book!

I'm finding myself loving this series just as much as the author's Hell Divers series. Nicholas Sansbury Smith creates such a realistic environments and relatable characters. NSS is definitely one of those authors that I will blindly buy books from without reading the description, because I already know I'm gonna like it!

In this book, Raven and Estes Park face even bigger threats. As if surviving an EMP wasn't bad enough, Estes Park is now having to deal with raiders while Raven and Maj. Sardetti try to find and rescue the Major's nephew from a group of racist skinheads.

Can't wait to start book 3 first thing in the morning. Another great story by Nicholas Sansbury Smith, and a great narration by Bronson Pinchot!

The first book in the series was a really good read. This book was simplistic, glossed over facts and lacked any realism. Had to quit reading after the Seretary of Defense had been in office for a week and stll hadn't made a decision, an elite group of soldiers had been ambushed to extinction without any explanation of the miraculous timing, and on & on....

These books are scary beyond words. No aliens or zombies here. The event that starts off the story is one that could happen at any time. I enjoy a good 'safe' scary story. Zombies, ghosts, vampires; none of those have ever made me lose a minutes sleep. Not so with this one! There is a well rounded cast of characters and (always my favorite) a four legged character that you will fall in love with. I have no idea how he can 'be' a man, a woman, a good guy, a bad guy and even a dog. He does such a good job of defining his characters; making you love or hate them. Even if you hate them, you know who they are because Smith breathes life into them all. The ending left me ready to start on the next in the series; which, unfortunately, isn't out yet. But, I've pre-ordered my copy, so should you. And, maybe do a little research on 'old school' technology...

Well, Nicholds Smith has turned out another book that's cost me a lot of sleep at night.
This is the second book of the series and it's first rate reading from cover to cover, excitement, suspense, heros, villains, characters you grow to care for and others you cannot wait for their demise. I highly recommend this book to all who want a great read by an author who understands the subject that he's writing about even if it's a novel.

Just finished the second installment of this series after only two days of reading. If you haven't started this one, it is well worth the read. Characters are both likable and despicable depending on their role in the story. There are times in the story when you question just how sadistic the writer can be to those people and what they are going through, as the pressure never lets up.

Unfortunately for me, I will be downloading and beginning book three shortly. Which means I will have to wait for the fourth installment to release, as I am currently waiting for book 7 of the Extinction Cycle and book 3 of the Hell Divers series.

Keep 'me coming Nick, we hate to wait.

The new kid on the block has smashed a home run yet again with Trackers 2. He has continued where he left off plunging the reader into the terrifying world in which the USA is reeling from a devastating EMP attack. Nicholas Sansbury Smith is sky rocketing his way into the big leagues and this book form the young prolific writer is a shining example of why.

This book has all the elements expected in such a book and is delivered in perfect balance. This has the end result of immersing the reader into the story and making the read so much more rewarding. Be warned though this book is not for those looking for a relaxing read it is a full tilt action packed thriller from woe to go. Bring on the next installment I am ready an willing to jump back in.

The second installment of Trackers builds wonderfully as it explores the themes of loyalty, honor, and survival. Something I have always wondered is who is out for their best interests, who is out to stay loyal to their duties and who is out to try and conquer a “new world” for the thirst of power? I really enjoy the scenes with Ty, who is my favorite character of this 2nd book, a witty and intelligent little kid bound to a wheelchair in the middle of a total collapse of the country with the hopes of his very high-up- the-ranks US Military mother to come rescue him. Read and find out how this saga continues.

I finished the first book and read the second here at the Ameristar hotel and casino in Black Hawk, CO, just a few miles from Estes Park. I have lived in the area for over 20 years, so a lot of the story is quite familiar.

To the story itself: it is well developed, the characters are believable and interesting, and the technical details ring true. A worthy distraction from those damn, thieving poker machines!

Trackers 2 is a nightmare in daylight. Like the first, it's intense, edgy and exceptionally well written (as all of mr smiths books are!) I almost always listen to audiobooks these days. I got into the habit before I retired and drove hundreds of miles each week. It seems I'm addicted.
I have been a fan since Nicholas Sansbury Smith first appeared in the scene, and. I swear he gets better and better and always fun! No matter what genre his imagination is playing in he just never disappoints. His EMP books scare the hell out of me, they are so real! Thanks to Mr. Smith and some of his compatriots like William R Forstchen, Thomas A Watson and others we can all get ready for an EMP, CME , pandemics or financial collapse.

Again this author has hit another home run. Back to Estes Park with more intrigue, plots, and action. This book will hook you from the start and keep you until the ending. The characters are awesome, lifelike, and believable. The storyline could be real based on current events we have been seeing lately. The author's ideas of post-EMP surival issues and the collapse of civility faster then most predictions rings true with the way our society is heading. This Trackers series is a must read. I can't wait for the next book.

Fresh from having saved the town and their families from serial killers in the small town of Estes Park, Raven and Nathan find themselves on the move to find Nathan’s handicapped nephew, Ty.  Still plagued by radiation, thugs on the road and other dangers, both head off to Ty’s last known location.  While the US is recovering from the devastating EMP attack, others are ready to take advantage of the chaos.

Ty’s mother, the new Secretary of Defense is trying to find the last North Korean sub and also to save the rest of the US and her son from the newest homegrown terrorist – General Phoenix.   Together, Raven and Nathan hunt down General Phoenix and set into motion a deadly and a fight to the death.

Action packed, this second in the Trackers series is mesmerizing.  Nicholas Sansbury Smith has a gift for blending fact with fiction and creating a horrifying story.  A story that will keep one up for nights because the monsters he creates are people we very well may know in real life!  People who make headlines daily but who fail because there is no chaos – yet!

I have had the pleasure of enjoying several of Smiths books, this series, however, is far more frightening than any of his others.  He knows how to take terror and grow it, cultivating it until his readers cannot stop listening to his books – they know his horror can happen!

Well written with a shocking twist that will leave you gasping – I had to wait a couple of days to write this review because I was in shock and mostly angry at Smith!  I won’t say anymore but like life, a writer can be so unfair!

Once again Bronson Pinchot owns this book!  His talent of presenting each character with a voice that one can only love or hate; he nails each one perfectly!  I hate the voices of the President and General Phoenix – they are grating and “holier than thou” type voices thus gearing the audience to hate the men and appropriately so. While Raven, Nathan and Chief Colton are solid husky voices that demonstrates strength and stability – you cannot help but feel a strong connection to them and grow to love them.

Don't miss out on this awesome series.

There were no issues with the quality or production of this audiobook.

An excellent read. I loved the interweaving of Sioux folk tales with the post-apocalyptic theme. Nick's respect for different cultures is notable, and it comes through clearly in this novel. Evenly paced, with well-choreographed action scenes and good suspense, this is another must-read for Nick's fans. And for anyone who likes post-apoc fiction, IMO.

Once again I have to say AWESOME Book!! Trackers 2 just jumps right in where Trackers 1 left off, full of action and Suspense from beginning to end!! I can't wait for Trackers 3 to get released!! I am a USMC Combat Vet and Sansbury can write a great book that keeps me wanting more! I have read and will read everything that he comes out with! I have yet to be disappointed and I am sure I won't be. Keep up the awesome work Nicholas and how about an awesome new series on USMC MARSOC saving the good old USA! Raven will lead them into battle!!

I loved this book & devoured it in one day listening to it thru Audible - at work, at the doctor, in the car, at home doing just about everything, etc... this series has caught my attention & is the first one to do so in a long time. It really makes you open your eyes to the very real threats that are thwarted daily. I recently got into survival books, & it definitely makes me feel like an idiot for not doing something sooner. Read these - you will NOT be disappointed!

Book 2 starts where Book 1 left off - no annoying gaps in time periods where you wonder what happened with the characters you have come to cherish. Sometimes sequels are just attempts of piggybacking off a successful first novel, but not in this case. Four books are completely necessary to tell this amazing story. The character development and their relationships with each other continue to evolve, more storylines emerge, and once again, I attend work with not enough sleep because I could not put this down.

Now I have to wait until this fall to read Book 3. At least each book finished , has its own story arc while at the same time continuing to tell the the story line. And that is very much appreciated. I dislike cliff hangers. That being said, Book 3 will be worth the wait if its as good as the first two and they are awesome!!!! To top it off, you the Author didn't ... Didn't have to kill off that person .... It was just as gut wrenching as watching Ned Stark getting killed. Blew me away ... Sighs

I loved this 4 book series, very thought provoking about some of the issues that could take place in the event of an EMP. World War III with believable characters, beautiful background description of Colorado Estes Park. Love the story line from start to finish. Highly recommend.

Another good read in the series. He's not breaking any new ground here plot wise but the scenery (post EMP blast) is new to me. It seems to be a growing genre. The writing is deftly executed although I wish he would add a little more flesh on his characters. They came across a bit on the side of cardboard cutouts in this one. I think that balancing character development against action is always a challenge for authors and the pendulum swung toward the action in this outing. Still, a fine series so far.

Not a lot that can be said about this book. The author , well known in this genre, has presented us with another master piece. He continues to raise the bar and then demolishes it with each addition. The narrator brings the character's to life and makes me chuckle. Another great book anyone would be proud to own.

Just finished book two. Don't want to give away any part of the book, so I'm going to keep my review short. No sex, lots of adventure, great action scenes, scary scenarios, and a look at the best and worst of humanity. 2 thumbs up! (Now, I want to learn how to fire a cross bow. )

Awesome sequel to the first book. The emotion shown in the writing was a little unexpected but it gets the reader involved in the book and should get their emotions going as well. I don't think I've ever hated characters in a book more than I have the S.O.L. Tte action scenes were terrific! The 3rd book cannot get here quick enough.

Nick continues to deliver in spades in the second book in the series. From the idyllic town of Estates Park to the Washington DC every part of the US is affected after a surprise attack by North Korea, in the form of an EMP, has devastated the country. The books focuses on the trials faced by various everyday people including Chief Marcus, Nathan and Raven. It gives the reader a glimpse of a future that no sane person ever wants to see. Better plot than most post-apocalyptic thrillers. The EAP strike is more in the background hampering the trackers in their searches. Interface between US military and Estes Park is smoothly handled by brother-sister connection. Never thought the author would kill off a main character though.

The people in this book dying from radiation just isn't realistic. Radiation from an air burst would be minimal, stay out of the first rain and you're fine. Filter all water, wipe all cans before using them, again fine. The violence isn't realistic either. Looting, some mayhem, but real violence would slowly escalate. This is demonstrated all over the world where civil law has broken down

The action is pretty good. The reasoning behind it, not so much.

Felt like a Politically Correct viewpoint of a Post Apocalyptic world. Very much viewed from women's perspective. They seemed to be the directing force behind most of the men's actions here. Mostly, to save their children...and getting a ton of men killed in the process. I understand that's a woman's #1,2,3 goals, their children. But, man...the stupid stuff they do accomplishing it, and the men they send that die...just got frustrating to me.

From the beginning of the book, it's about a US raid to save a Senators son, that creates havoc. Then, several more times in the book, someone's kid gets taken and the women get hysterical...and men die because of it. Even one of the most powerful woman left after the EMP (now Secretary of Defense,) spends most of her time sending planes, troops, marines and even her brother...to save her kid. Oh, yeah, she did also sink a Korean Sub, but that was kinda a side note. Maybe 5 pages total. The rest of the time, marines, pilots and even people close to her that she sent out to find her kid...died. She kept sending them tho, they kept dying. Kind of a theme throughout the books (I read 2 before I gave up.)

Technical detail is not the authors strong point either. American Combat fighters have been Hardened against EMP attacks for quite a while now. They wouldn't all fall out of the sky after an EMP attack like they did here. But, that's just a little detail, right?

The really bad guys, even worse than North Koreans who blew us up, are the focus of evil here in this book. Well, I bet you can figure out who they are without me even telling you. You figure it out yet? lol. Yup...White Aryan Nazi Skinheads. Oh well, they do suk. Even tho their numbers are a fraction of the other domestic terrorist groups in this country...that were never mentioned. And probably will never be by this author.

Still, the action is really good. Some great characters too. Raven is cool, Colton is cool, Nathan is cool, etc...Which is why I didn't go lower in my rating. It's just the PC backdrop I find annoying and predictable.

So, even with the good action, I can't really recommend it. I found it a little frustrating. But, if you're a woman and a liberal. You might just love this. Which is ok too :)

Peace, Love, Etc...

Book was very well done, using a non-zombie setting. Book 2, however.. Instead of zombies we get the nearly as cliche/tired out troupe of.... crazy white supremacist/militia villains. Funny how in nearly 99% of these novels, "people of color" have either disappeared from the face of the earth (apparently wiped out by above mentioned crazy hillbillies the moment after the apocalyptic event occurs) or they are cast in heroic/traditional victim roles.

It would be nice, for a change, if human nature was truly examined in these situations instead of authors either cowering from the Political Correctness police and/or kneeling at the PC altar.

There are good, bad, saints and sinners in every color, gender and orientation. But apparently in the literary/entertainment world any true representation of human nature in a crisis is simply not allowed.

spoiler alert: I just can't like books that have you vested in one of the main good characters for two books and then have that character killed off. Yes, it would not be believable if no good characters were killed. The way that most authors handle that is to get you slightly invested in a good character that he or she plans to kill off. But to have a character who is in a large part of the first two books of the series killed off, as far as I'm concerned shuts me down to read anymore of the series. This is especially true when there was no real reason to kill him off. It did not advance the plot and it was a lazy way to add a tiny bit of drama at the end of the book - to a book that did not need anymore drama.

After the events in book one, both Raven and Nathan are pretty banged up but Nathan has no choice but to go and save his nephew, Ty. Colton gives Nathan some supplies but also asks Raven to go with him. They set out into a world forever changed by the EMP. Apart from trying to navigate a land decimated by the detonation, they are also trying to navigate through fires and dead bodies, but the biggest threat seems to be humans! They quickly realise that Ty may have been taken by professionals, but just who they are and what they want remain a mystery.... that is until they are ambushed and they manage to capture one of the thugs.

Meanwhile, Nathan's sister and the new Secretary of Defense is trying to evade the North Korean sub, while also trying to track it, and has to try to heal the injuries she received when the bomb detonated at the bunker. She is also dealing with the fact that her son is still missing and she hasn't heard from her brother. All she sees everyday is her beloved US coming undone. How can they bounce back from this?

On top of that, Colton is dealing with his own problems back at Estes park. When their food and supplies are stolen, Colton is fired from being the chief of police, but he knows that Don isn't the best choice and has to take steps to try to keep the town together.

I started this straight after finishing book 1 and in a way I'm sorry I did because now I have to wait till book 3 comes out!!! Plus with the news at the moment about the North Korea threats and the violence that is happening from supremacist groups, it just makes this book a little too real!! It scared the crap out of me, not in a horror book way, but in a real life scenario. The author has created an all too real feeling book and one that is something that could happen!!

I only started reading this authors work at the start of the year, even though I did have his books on my kindle for ages, but he has quickly become one of my favourites. He has created some of the most memorable characters I have ever read!! They are extremely well written and developed and I loved pretty much all of them. He made it so easy to become invested in both the story and the characters. On finishing the book my first thought was oh god, this is too close to the truth, then I cried because..... well something happened that made me go NOOOOOO, then I went damn you Nicholas Sansbury Smith, then I just sat there and thought what can read now that can top this! It's a testimony to this authors writing skills because it made me feel so many emotions!!!

Anyway, this book was amazing. It's action packed, filled with so many tense and edge of your seat moments that you will not be able to put it down, and absolutely terrifying! I bought both the ebook and the audio and know I will have to get the physical books for my shelf, it's just that good!!! Highly recommend this series and this authors work.

Riveting read which will keep you on the edge of your seat from the first page until the last. Highly recommend that one reads the first book in this series first. This story begins where the first one stopped and there are not any 'rest stops' for you, the reader. And, another recommendation is that you settle down in your chair and grab something to drink and eat while you flip the pages. One thing I appreciated immensely is despite the many levels in the story, everything came together neatly. Not an easy task for an author but I felt it was accomplished with great finesse.

With as few words as possible, here is my review of the book:

Action Check

Suspense Check

Excitement Check

Excellent Character Development Check

Credibility of Plot Check

Most highly recommended.

Decent job of flow and continuity, and I like that with each instalment of the saga, you really could just walk away and the series would still be great. Not saying you won’t read the others, just that it finishes most of the current loose ends satisfactorily. Not a sex driven novel. I like that that. Author uses many females in lead roles so women may enjoy this series in spite of subject matter as well. If that statement offends you..too bad,It’s the way I see it.

Great second instalment to the series. Book 2 takes off as book 1 ends and the momentum of the series keeps going. Men and women are taking up arms in panic and fear all across the nation as the country descends into chaos and the death toll rises from fallout, famine and riots. A white supremacy group rises up and tries to rebuild the nation in there own image and its up to one man to try and stop them.

After buying the first book in the Trackers series with some trepidation and loving it, I was eager to read the second installment in the trackers series. Mr. Smith did not disappoint as this installment was better than the first in the series which is saying alot. With fire being a constant theme in this story, this was an edge of your seat thrill ride and from the first chapter. I found it hard to put down, reading it in just two days time. Some of the twists and turns I loved while others brought anger but in the end this was another great story by a great author. As always Mr. Smith drew me into the world he had created, a world that is all to realistic and that makes it that all the more scary. This story showcases Mr. Smiths understanding of human nature and how differently various people react to the same stressful and catastrophic events. I can't recommend this book enough to anyone who enjoys realistically written, plausible, post apocalyptic stories, with good character development and great story that leaves the reader wanting more. Very well down Mr. Smith.

After reading the first book in the series, I was expecting a great follow-up and received just that with this title. This book added well-placed chances to root for and despise certain characters, allowing for emotional sweeps in the middle of the prolonged action. The setting expands in this story and therefore so does the trouble for our main characters. Looking forward to what awaits me in book 3!

This story is horrifying as well as terrifying. Not because of monsters but because it comes across as REAL, especially if you have been keeping an eye to world news!

Mr. Smith has a way of making not only his main characters so well rounded that they could potentially be a friend, a neighbor, or a relative but because he writes these characters with faults, demons, and the capacity of goodness, kindness and love.

But I think that it is Mr. Pinchot who is the defining key in making these characters real to me. His ability to interject the right emotions into the character takes him from being a narrator to a Master Storyteller!

Even tried to convince my wife to let me buy an Akita.

Very good follow up to the first book. I love Raven, trying desperately to protect his family and the town folk from the ravages of war that the North Koreans decided to visit on our country. Great reading, can't wait for book 3.

While it's a good read. It has lost its scary factor due to Trump and Kim Jong-Un having a remarkable meeting and historical peace following it. Awkward. I'm not sure if I want to continue this series as it's unreal as a zombie story. Oh well, I'll read some Harley Tate, Ryan Schow and Scott B Williams...then maybe come back to this series.
