This was scary because it could be true. It makes me wonder how fast people would actually turn on each other in this situation. Looking forward to the characters continued stories in following Trackers books.

Scary but fun. I really enjoyed reading this book. Very well written with interesting characters, and unfortunately a storyline that could actually happen someday. Also no irritating editing and grammar errors. I would definitely recommend this book to any adult readers.
Orbs (A Post Apocalyptic Science Fiction Survival Thriller) :: Extinction War (The Extinction Cycle Series) :: The Damned (A Post-Apocalyptic Survival Series) - Trackers 4 :: Outbreak (The Brother's Creed Book 1) :: The Storm (A Post-Apocalyptic Survival Series) - Trackers 3

Amazing fully developed characters all through the book. Action packed EMP fiction. This book is very well written and edited. I hope this series goes on and on. The characters are the stars of this book, don't miss it. As a super fan of EMP fiction I rate this as in my top five of all time.

Fantastic read, full of great characters and loads of action - funny how it is relative to what is going on in the world right now. Made me want to read the rest of the series which I just completed. Can't wait for "Trackers 4" to come out in February.

This is a must read if you like a book that will grab you at the beginning and not let go. I don't read a lot of post-apocalyptic books because they keep me up at night, lol. But I just couldn't resist the great story line, the interesting characters, the fast pace . . . yep, I was hooked from the beginning. Can't wait to read the next one.

So much going on and it all stays clear and concise. He goes back and forth between characters and scenes flawlessly. I love these characters and can't wait to start book 2! I read this in two sittings. Great book!

I thoroughly enjoyed this one. It moved right along with multiple threads which were both well conceived. Actually, one was the main driving force but the second is lying in wait to spring up and take center stage in the second book unless I miss my guess.

I read this on one sitting. Great action and believable characters. Nicholas Sansbury is one of the top authors for this genre of books. He cares about his readers. All his books are awesome and I have read them again.

Just when I was having withdrawl pangs from the Extinction Team Ghost series Nick comes through with the start of yet another great series. Nick maintains an incredible pace of non-stop action, great drama, real character development that keeps you glued to the book. Only downside is having to wait until June 20th for book two. You keep writing Nick and I'll keep reading.

An excellent series that's damn near impossible to put down. After downloading this first book I didn't hesitate to get the rest. Having visited Estes Park, CO several times, it's great to read a book with a familiar setting, and knowing that the author has indeed familiarized himself with the setting. It's also clear that the author has a good knowledge of military equipment as well.
The setting is haunting with how easily it could all happen. Great reads, well worth the purchase

If you've ever wondered what might happen after an EMP and nuclear attack on our own soil, this book will give you an insight of the horrors of what these events might be like, and what may follow afterwards. In the middle of all of this chaos, there is also a serial killer on the loose in a mountain town set in Colorado. I couldn't put it down, this is definitely worth the read. The only complaint I have is that I wish it had been longer. Looking forward to reading the sequel.

I listened to this while working. I have to say, I was quite distracted. It sucked me in and kept me immersed from beginning to end. Trackers is well researched and very well written. The characters are very believable. I could almost see myself inside the story. It’s scary how this story could be a warning about things to come. If you are into prepping, this is a great story. If your aren’t a prepper, you will be after this.

This book grips you from the very beginning. Some people in the reviews have mentioned how much research went into these novels and they are right. It's just the perfect combination of action, adventure, tragedy, and friendship. This is a real-life look at a very real possibility for our country.

This story line is so close to current events, it makes me want to kick-in to survivalist mode. The characters are well written across that board and the plot develops quickly for each new person that we are introduced to. The Science is explained to be believable and the result of the EMP and fallout fairly close to what I would expect to occur in this situation. I immediately needed to read the next book after running out of pages in this one.

It's hard to hate any stories involving good military guys and a dynamic anti-hero who is part Cherokee. Nice Native American mythology woven in also. It will be a hit here in Ga-lun-la-ti for sure. I truly look forward to future installments.

I am not used to reading this genre, but it grabbed my attention from the very beginning. Multiple events going on simultaneously, but I was still able to keep everything separate. Not only is WW3 happening, but there's a killer on the loose. This book had me wanting to get a Ham Radio and learn how to make preserves.

Nicholas has done it again. Yet another superbly written book. Fast paced and action packed.
Not a million miles from home either, could easily happen within our lifetime. Food for thought.
Although personally I prefer the setting of a more scifi / fantasy theme (extinction cycle/ helldivers) I have throughly enjoyed this story - just good old fun. I can't wait to jump back into the story and see what's instore for Raven next. Again I'm glad to have found an author whose books are varied, captivating and enjoyable. NICHOLAS SANSBURY SMITH - you have yet another die hard fan. Thanks again :-)

This book seems like a real life situation, this could happen. The character developed made me buy the next book in the series. You are really rooting for these people, and in the back of your mind thinking, "maybe i need a faraday cage".

I loved Orbs and Hell Divers a lot. very very good books. This book was not nearly as good. It was like it was written by soneone younger. I will most likely read the next book in this series anyway. but i hope it is better cause I really like this author

I started with the hell divers series by Nicholas Sansbury Smith and could not wait to dive into this series as well. I've read many authors and their take on what an EMP would do to the country, and I have to say that I really enjoyed this story. I think what I enjoyed the most about this wasn't just the post collapse scenario but the hunt for a killer as well. It really helped centralize the situation for the small town of Estes Park, CO on top of the national crisis. I would definitely recommend this book to both readers that enjoy the collapse style writing and also those who love a good action book as well.

Excellence read. Many scary truths in this book. And being a veteran it posed many of the thoughts that have gone though my mind which Nicholas has brought to paper. Great story can't wait till the next installment.

The underlying theme of a North Korean attack was a good basis for a story, but the characters are thin and the author clearly did only superficial research for many aspects of the background. His description of the F-16 action was laughable, describing airspeed as 1,200 mph, for one example. I know this was only a short scene in the book, but it put me off early in the book. Raven, one of the key characters, did not think and behave like either a recon Marine, or an Indian tracker, in my opinion. The Congressional aspect was equally unlikely. On the whole, I did read the entire book. I’ll not consider reading another.

I liked this story much better than the extinction cycle. I'm pleased! It's got some predictable moments but it stands out for the details and big picture glimpses. I'll keep an eye for more of these and hope my fellow Iowan writes quickly.

Very well detailed by utilizing different groups from different event backgrounds and life styles. Military, government, rural and city people, all were affected by the events and had to go thru the same trials and tribulations.

Scary and relivent in today's world. I listened the audible version. It was so good I binged on it. It is hard to say, since I enjoyed this one, but also get The Hell Divers and the Extinction series. Best books I have heard and enjoyed so much.

And anxious to pick up book two, which sadly won't be out until June. Will Estes Park and its courageous band of post-apocalyptic heroes be able to meet the next set of challenges rising up on the fallout tinged horizon? I can't wait to fin out!

Mr Smith once again delivers. I was hardly able to put this book day. The thought of an EMP attack is nerve wracking. At a deranged serial killer obsessed with Native American folk lore and you're in for a damn good read. Keep em coming Nicholas.

This is a well written book that get most--not all--EMP effects right. North Korea getting bombers over the U.S. is sort of unrealistic, but overall, a good read. Also, EMPs are generally much higher. I'm taking a star off because it was difficult to get the book using Kindle Unlimited without the Audible narration, which was automatic. I know that's a feature not a bug, but I do not like and did not want the Audible portion; I'm fine with the regular Kindle text-to-speech function and usually prefer it.

I enjoyed the characters and they story was very well thought out and we'll informed. However the murder mystery bit was distracting and I don't think the two fit together. It felt like I was reading two stories at once.

This is not a book I would normally have chosen to read. I'm usually more of a Sci-fi/fantasy girl. It was a highly rated book available on "free kindle book" day so I downloaded it. It catches your attention right from the beginning and Nicholas Sansbury Smith crafts characters that you care about which keeps you reading. I loved the book and was terrified at the plausibility of it at the same time. I would have given it 5 stars, but it is part of a series and now I have to get 3 more books.

This is a good story. Characters are believable. Quick build up and not a lot in sub plots. The end of the book leaves bunch of loose ends. I guess I'll have to read the following books in the series. To me it is worth the time to read.

Very scary in the fact that the book speaks of things that are happening right now and how something like the scenario in the book could actually happen to us as a society. That’s what’s scary. A great book and looking forward to the next one.

I appreciated the fact that for once there wasn't a "payback from the Lord" thing going on, no super villain or wizard master involved. A story in which mankind brought disaster upon them selves and now must deal with the consequences.

The suspense grabbed me from the first sentence. As much as I didn't want to read a book about the apocalypse I couldn't put this one down. There was a lot of realism and possible true scenarios included.

This is a story that conveys the confusion, the desperation and the horror that an attack on our homeland would unleash. It’s combination of a local criminal investigation with EMP and conventional nuclear attack is very compelling. This is a very realistic scenario that makes the reader/listener think while it thoroughly entertains.

This is an action packed book that you can’t put down. It causes you to neglect everything else you need to be doing. It’s only gap is leaving out recognition of why we exist in the first place and the value of the gift of life from our creator.

This book is very interesting. There was a lot of suspense throughout the whole book that hooked me. I do not read much, but I would highly recommend this book if you enjoy an intense, action packed read. Another interesting aspect is that all of the events that lead to apocalyptic setting are possible which would make the disaster in the book a reality.

I literally (like, actually literally) couldn't put this book down. It gabbed hold of my attention and my imagination from the first page to the last and it was a hell of a ride the whole way. As a Marine Corps Combat Hunter—a tracker—I was thrilled to find that the representation of the military was accurate in nearly everyway, which is hard to find these days. I consider myself to be prepared for a disaster, but I also learned from this book, too. Making it a thrilling adventure and a learning experience all wrapped into one well-written package. Now, excuse me while I go buy the other three books in this series and everything else that Nicholas Sainsbury Smith has written.

Decent read but author should actually study up on EMP. Most cars are actually quite good Faraday cages.
I was able to overlook some of the EMP faults by mentally assigning some new unknown technology to the weapons. Unicorn toot wave or something, which wipes out every electronic device that the plot needs it to wipe.

(No spoilers if you’ve read the first two pages.) A good premise that degenerated under the weight of too many subplots and unrealistic non sequitur – like the small town with extremely limited resources that commits an inordinate number of personnel to set up a roadblock that is superfluous to the story (and only lasted for a paragraph or two).
Too often people behave as if everything is normal even though the world is literally falling apart around them. We don't learn until three-fourths of the way through the book that the parents of a hospitalized child are sitting in the lobby "ever since their son was admitted" two weeks ago. Really? There is widespread panic, scant hospital staff, their son is in a room by himself and the parents are just calmly sitting in the waiting room reading magazines or something? There is unneeded emphasis on this and the many other family subplots. That might work fine in a Hallmark movie, but its exaggerated importance is distracting. The main story was strong enough without dripping additional pathos into every protagonist's bio.
Finally, the small town crime pales mightily in comparison to the massive devastation. It’s as if the author couldn’t figure out what kind of writer he wanted to be, and just combined two ideas that didn’t fit. If you are going to do a kind of thought experiment wrapped up in a novel as this author has, it's important to get the details right. Otherwise suspension of reality is lost.
Still worthwhile if you know what you're getting into, but at times very frustrating.

Suspenful, entertaining, easy to read writing style, didn't overdo it. At first I wasn't sure if the focus was kinappings, the supernatural or an apocaliptic war. Connecting these seamlessly is probably the only slight weakness I found.

The author did a great job building out a scenario with compelling characters and then ruined it in the last 10%. I understand it’s a series but the last few chapter read as though there was a page limit and they had to wrap up as much as possible. Honestly quite the let down and makes me less likely to read book 2.

Mundane murder mystery unconvincingly set in post emp America. The murder motive is far fetched, the characters are not well drawn and any connection to the posited catastrophic emp event is practically nonexistent.
