I immediately noticed that the formatting of the typeset had each line centered instead of left-centered - which made me think Zanetti was short on material for this novella. The first chapter was the most entertaining and I had already read it at the end of the last novel in the series. The only tidbit of information I found out was that Janie will probably become a prophet if she lives through the war. Lilly and Caleb were always destined to become a couple and killing off Franco just paves the way for Kalin in the final installment. No updates were given on the other Kayrs brothers. So sad.

I adore the dark protectors series and have read several of the books multiple times. Ms. Zanetti was also the first author I felt compelled to write a thank you email to for her exciting works, but I feel cheated by this book. It was so short, I read it in little over an hour. It didn't really update the story much. I have to say I really felt cheated and like my trust was misplaced. I'm sorry I couldn't give it five stars. I wanted to but it just wasn't worth it.

TAMED is a paranormal novella that explores a second chance romance amidst potentially world ending circumstances. Set in a somewhat unique paranormal world that still bears enough resemblance to a panoply of other paranormal romances that it feels vaguely familiar, TAMED is a relatively quick and easy read. Additionally, Rebecca Zanetti does a good job of explaining the series background, and the central romance is fully resolved in this book. So notwithstanding that its the 6.5 book in its series, it can still be read as a stand-alone book.

The Dark Protectors series takes place in a world full of vampires, demons, and Kurjans ("a white-faced, creepy race of killers"), and each such species is at war with the others. Adding complexity to this "Realm" are prophets (who have visions of the future) and mates (females). TAMED takes place at a point in time when the three species are convening for peace talks to potentially settle their ongoing wars.

The heroine, Lily, is one of three prophets attending the peace talks. Three centuries ago, Lily passed on an opportunity to become the mate of her first love, Caleb. Instead, Lily chose duty and married a prophet. Her vampire husband died just a couple of weeks after they were married and passed along the prophet's mark to her. She has always wondered what could have been with Caleb had she chosen him instead.

As fate would have it, Caleb, a vampire who is also known as the Realm Rebel for his rebellious soldier ways, has now also become a prophet. He has never forgotten Lily. As soon as they meet again, sparks fly even if they don't agree on how best to handle the peace talks. When they both start having, arguably treasonous visions, they begin confiding in one another, and soon they are unable to avoid the passion that flames between them. Is there a HEA in store for them this time, and will they be able to agree on, and execute, a winning strategy to make sure that the Realm continues to exist as they know it?

All in all, TAMED is a decent paranormal novella which I would rate a 3.5 star read, but have rounded up to 4 stars. As is frequently the case with novellas, the romance is a little quick to ignite, but the heat of the passion somewhat makes up for it, and the underlying suspense is intriguing. So if you are looking for a quick paranormal read with equal parts romance, passion and action, TAMED may just be the right book to satisfy your desires.

This was another amazing addition to the Dark Protectors series. I just can't get enough of these books and I'm very sad that the series will come to a close with the next book.
Caleb Donovan was never meant to be a prophet. He's a fighter not a peace maker. Lily Sotheby chose duty over her hearts desire 3 century's ago. Now that the virus has changed everything Lily wants a chance to experience life on the wilder side.
Let me tell you Caleb is one hot vampire and when Lily lets her proper shield down...WOW. But with the upcoming Peace Talks between all the species of the Realm the Prophet's are having nightmares about doing Fates biding. Can they figure this out before something terrible happens?

Tamed, Rebecca Zanetti

Review from Jeannie Zelos Book reviews.
I came into the Dark Protectors series late, beginning with Shadowed, which I loved so when I saw Tamed up for review I wanted to read it. I wasn't disappointed. Its quite a short novel but packed with story not with filler, which makes it seem longer. I don't have exact length but I’d guess around 100-120 pages and for me last night when I had a spare hour it was perfect. I hate leaving a book til next day so this one, which I knew I had time to finish was perfect. Despite not having read the first few books it's a series which is easy to pick up. Rebecca gives enough info for reader to work out back story though when I’ve time I’d love to read earlier books too. So many books, so little time :)
Caleb's a real hero, has loved Lily for centuries but been unable to do anything about it. Now things have changed and he's determined Lily won't escape this time. He's a typical alpha hero, protective and a fighter, and it seems odd that Fate chose him as a Prophet – one of the peacekeepers. It works though, his skills are needed. Lily was lovely, always very aware of her duty, and as a Prophet she struggles when she has dreams that tell her she must do something she feels is wrong. Her dreams have never let her down before, but this just feels so wrong she's in a quandary.
Its a good story, realistic even though its fantasy, and for me stories have to feel real. I was rooting for Lily and Caleb, and when they did get together – well, Rebecca excels at writing those scenes. Sensual and steamy, not squirmy and sickly as we get too often. I had an idea of what might be the plot, but not the way it was executed and I was only partially right – I do love to be surprised by how things pan out. It's priced at £1.85 for 30.500 words.
Stars:four and a half. Another great book for the series. .

Caleb Donovan the Realm Rebel has loved Prophet Lily Sotheby for 300 years. Though being betrothed to another for duty Lily has always kept her feelings for Caleb close. But now as the Virus 27 has removed the mating mark and mating virus she is able to be with whomever she sees fit. When Janie and Hilde take Lily on a Girls Night Out to get Lily laid, one man from the bar feels Lily isn't giving what she is promoting. When things get a little out of hand The King, Dage and none other than Caleb show up. Janie and Hilde are ordered back to Realm HQ and the sight of Lily has Caleb heart heated all over again. And he wonders why she didn't come to him first?

Lily is finally able to break free from the confines of her past and Caleb is ready and eager to be her Alpha male and protect her as well as the Realm.

“The last time I felt this desperate for a woman, I was young—barely an adult.”
She hummed and ran a soft hand across his chest. “Lucky woman.”
He started, his heart beating hard enough she had to feel it.
“It was you, Lil. You’re the only woman I've ever wanted badly enough to burn.”

While peace talks are slated to start The Prophets are being tested by Fate and the world could be saved by none other than Prophet Lily Sotheby if only she succumbs to her visions and takes Janie's life.

Humor, action, and sun melting attraction and passion are the force driving this novella. RZ has nailed this one again, getting us closer to the finale of The Dark Protector series Marked. I’m very anxious to finally see how this plays out between Janie, Zane and Kalin. And what was/is her destiny. And will Janie have to kill either Zane or Kalin to save the world?

TAMED is the latest novella in Rebecca Zanetti’s adult, contemporary Dark Protectors paranormal romance series focusing on the Prophets-vampire and Realm Rebel Caleb Donovan and Lily Sotheby.

The vampires and their enemy the Kurjan are about to enter into peace negotiations but something or someone wants them to fail. Prophetic dreams and messages have been haunting Caleb and Lily, and with them will come a directive that one of their own must be terminated. With the vampire King’s niece’s life hanging in the balance, the Fates begin to push at the Prophets to ensure compliance is carried forth.

The relationship between Caleb and Lily is a second chance at love storyline. Three hundred years earlier Caleb had professed his love to Lily but Lily chose duty over love. Now that they have been given at second chance Caleb’s need for Lily has grown that much more stronger. The sex is sensual, steamy and possessive. Caleb will not lose Lily to the prophecy or the Fates.

The secondary characters include the vampire king Dage and his niece Janie as well as several guardians, friends and bitter rivals. The world building continues with the inclusion of familiar names and scenarios and the potential for Janie’s storyline to be told-next.

Rebecca Zanetti has written a wonderful series where the characters push the storyline forward. The Dark Protector series has a little bit of everything-romance, humor, love, sex and suspense as well as a bitter rival who is determined to destroy the vampire through virus and destruction.

“Tamed” lead us one step closer to Janie and Zane’s story and toward the end of this series. I have to confess that I have mix feelings about this. I mean, I’m really excited that I’ll finally be able to find out how the prophecy will end and learn about Janie and Zane (I’ve been waiting for their story since the first dream they shared in the first book), but on the other hand I’m sad because this is such an amazing series and I take great pleasure in reading it.

This book brings us another couple, Lily and Caleb. Lily Sotheby lived as a Prophet since the death of her husband marked her as one, embracing her status and putting her duty above anything and everything else. After three centuries she has seen many terrible things, but still she is the epitome of innocence and bashfulness. Caleb Donovan is exactly what he appears to be: a hard, rough-around-the-edges warrior who refuses to accept that Fate chose his destiny when he was marked as a Prophet. He believes that he makes his own destiny, and when Lily is freed of her mate mark, he sees another chance with the only woman meant to be his. She once chose to do her duty by marrying another man, but now he can finally lure into light the woman behind the duty, the woman who hides behind the proper attitude and far too decent clothes. However, Lily is a great prize now that she can mate again after the cure is found; she is also wanted by Franco, the leader of the Kurjan nation, with plans of his own. And who is better than the Rebel Realms to come to her rescue?

Their courting is a sensual dance of passion and love tangled with nightmares and visions. Action, betrayal, and kidnapping are a few of the elements which can be found in this short novella, elements that manage to fill the rows of the pages and create a complex and complete story told at a fast pace without disappointing readers by leaving gaps.

Even if the end is a happy one and its left open for the continuation of the storyline, I would have wished for Lily and Caleb’s happy end to be more final and less imaginative and full of hope.

As usual, I enjoyed Rebecca Zanetti’s writing and I’m very eager for the final book to find out more about Zane and about Janie’s choices. I highly recommend this series.

5 stars.

This novella is a short, bittersweet pill of darkness to keep fans going wile waiting for Janie's book to come out, filled with just enough action, violence, betrayal, romance and intrigue. Though not intended for newcomers to this series, it can be read as a stand-alone as it gives the reader just enough information on the Realm to keep from leaving newbies confused, and not too much for the tried and true can to skip a page.

Lily and Caleb's story is one widely know by all fans. The two have been in love with one another for centuries; one ignoring their feelings out of a sense of duty, the other out of respect for the former. And for the two to both be prophets, they sure are blind to their own destinies. It also leaves them blind to the enemy that is even closer than the man next door. It seems that all three prophets are having visions telling them to do the same as their predecessor once told them needed to be done. Which ended in his death and Caleb becoming a very reluctant prophet himself. As the Realm Rebel it is the last he had expected, and certainly never wanted. These visions are unlike any others any of the trio has ever had, not merely suggesting, but demanding, and threatening. Which brings up the question; are they truly visions, or are they being manipulated by someone other than Fate?

The time has come for the peace talks between the Kurjans, the Vampires and the Demons. Whether everyone remains alive to make to these talks remains to be seen.

Contains blood, violence and hot sex that is definitely not of the vanilla variety. Fans hankering for a Zanetti fix should hurry and get their hands on this read. While it will not hinder from keeping up with the story-line when Marked is finally released, fans will appreciate the plot in Tamed.

This is just what I needed to hold me over until the next book from this series. More alpha sexiness and strong-willed women. Dark Protectors is quite possibly one of my favorite paranormal series. It keeps getting better and better each book. Tamed delivers everything that I love about this series. Caleb and Lily just about broke my heart. They're a forbidden love. Yet, Caleb is a "screw the rules" kind of guy and I couldn't be a bigger fan of his. Lily, on the other hand, is on the straight and narrow. She's the prophet that goes by the book. Caleb is the prophet that fights his destiny and rebels at every turn.

The connection these two had was never smothered. When they're thrown together again they can't deny it. And when Lily begins to experience visions that cause her to second guess her rule abiding ways, it bends her entire reality. Including her once adamant rejection of Caleb. Can the rebel teach the angel to blur the lines? Will Lily learn that it's more important to do what is ethical by your own standards than what is right by someone else's?

I was thrilled to read this book. The forbidden love, and missed connection aspect really got to me. It made Lily and Caleb's relationship all the more special when they had to fight so hard for it. This story continues the arc that the entire series as followed. There's more unearthed about the doom coming soon. Janie Kayrs life is handing on by a thread. Who will live? Who will perish? And who will find their HEA? That's yet to be seen. There is going to be some MAJOR wrapping up needed in Janie's story. Her story is one of my most anticipated books of the year. I will be waiting not so patiently and reliving the amazing tales already produced in this series! I highly recommend this series for any lover of alpha men and paranormal books!

Happy Reading!

I thoroughly enjoyed Tamed. Rebecca Zanetti never ceases to disapoint. I'm a huge fan of the Dark Protector Series and have been following this series since Fated.

Lily the prophet has been infected and is no longer a widow that is mated. Lily has been a widow for centuries and wants to put herself back on the market in a sense. Not anyone is going to be mated to her, not if Caleb has a say.

Caleb comes crashing back into her life again, still drawn to one another after centuries and Caleb sees the person Lily really is that no one else sees or gets. Caleb constantly wants to protect Lily and when they two come together sparks fly and it gets hot.

The entire family makes an appearance, and there is no loss of focus of the story line in the overall series. It's amazing to watch Janie grow up as well and make decisions that no one should make, ones that impact everyone. People are deceived, secrets comes into light, and there are moments that are endearing, love that radiates, and Lily is able to finally let the world see who she really is underneath the demure side of her, one that Caleb has always seen, known, and love. I can't wait for December to arrive! ~Honest review in exchange for gifted copy.

This is book 6.5 in the DARK PROTECTORS series. This is Caleb an Lily's story.

Many many years ago Lily and Caleb were attracted to each other, But Lily picked duty over love. Marrying another, They meet again both being prophets and they are here to help talk of peace with the different paranormals . But after centuries of celibacy Lily wants to feel alive again and have some fun. Caleb just might be the one to help her and if it all works out change their destinies
The book starts out with the ladies helping LIly to pick up a man in a bar. She wants to get laid as she puts it. You kind a giggle cause Lily is so demure and straight laced, thinking that way is so much fun. The girls are having a great girls night that does go down hill when Caleb and Dage show up to take everyone home You can feel the heat between Caleb and Lily from the get go. But being a prophet they can't mate because of the virus . They are drawn together and the old feelings are brought back and the warr Caleb hates being a prophet ,he is a warrior at heart and protector. He is going to protect Lily from the nightmares that they are having . Also protect her from the others of the Realm that want to hurt her.Caleb is pure alpha male . He is so sexy and hot, He will melt you into a puddle by just a low growl . Lily 's character is so straight laced , she did kind a bug me at the beginning. She took her destiny too seriously. She so needed to get laid as everyone said. As you see her and Caleb's lives entwine , you see her more relaxed and happy. She becomes a very strong kick ass heroine as the story unfolds. I really liked this characters together. It seems that Caleb brought the excitement that Lily was missing and Lily brought him the love and want he needed and craved Caleb has fallen hard for his little prophet.
This a fast paced book full of twists and turns. You never know what is around the next corner. Rebecca had me guessing all the way till the end. I was so trying to figure out the nightmares and who was manipulating the dreams. The story is short bu action packed with lots of intrigue and romance to keep you reading. I started this book in the bath tub last night and I finished it in the tub, I just couldn't stop reading. The sex is hot and when you read it, You might just melt your kindle . So if you want a great series please pick up the DARK PROTECTOR SERIES read about all the guys . Caleb and Lily are a perfect addition to the series. I would be a great summer read for all you paranormal readers out there , I promise you won't be disappointed . Rebecaa Zametti is an author you all need to check out

I received a copy of the book via NetGalley in exchange for an honest review.

To be honest, I was a bit apprehensive about reading Tamed by Rebecca Zanetti. I adore her Sin Brothers series but was very disappointed with her Maverick Montana series so I truly didn’t know what to expect from Tamed.

I was pleasantly surprised though. It was obvious from the very first pages that Zanetti took the time to built a plausible world for her characters to live and fight in yet didn’t bore me with endless descriptions of said places and characters. As book 6.5 in the Dark Protectors series, it was a little difficult for me to catch up with the different races and their histories and to learn and remember the connections between previous characters and the current ones. However that didn’t take away from my enjoyment of the story.

While Tamed is a novella, it still gave me that whole novel feel and showed me why Caleb Donovan is called the Realm Rebel. He may have a Prophet mark on him but at heart he’s all warrior. Brash and most of the time, hot headed, Caleb could easily overwhelm any other character who has scenes with him. He’s an alpha male yet he isn’t overbearing or manipulative to the point where he becomes unlikable. He has a soft spot for those who can’t protect themselves.

I really liked the heroine, Lily being in a position of power among the races in the story, but what made me like Lily even more was the fact that even though certain obligations came with being a Prophet, she had a difficult time acting like a Prophet. Sometimes she just wanted to punch someone in the nose, usually the same someone but still, it was nice to see a heroine who wasn’t always graceful, poised with an endless supply of patience.

Tamed is a fast paced novella with an interesting premise. Rebecca Zanetti did a great job creating a paranormal world that is quite different to what I’ve read before and she managed to get me excited about past books as well as the next book in the series. If the previous books are as good as Tamed then I’m going to have to buy them as soon as I can.

Tamed is a short story in the Dark Protectors Series by Rebecca Zanetti. The main characters are the prophet Lily and the Realm Rebel, Caleb Donovan. The story falls after Shadowed (Book 6). I recommend reading the other stories in the series before reading Tamed. I believe the story would make more sense and would be much more enjoyable.

Centuries ago, the prophet Lily chose to marry for duty instead love. Then, Fate stole her husband away only weeks after their mating and left Lily bound to her dead vampire mate for centuries without hope for love or even sexual release. Lily has been haunted by memories of the man she turned her back on centuries ago. Now, Lily is plagued with the Kurjans’ virus, released to destroy vampires’ mates by their enemies. As the virus destroys Lily’s chromosomes, her mating with her dead husband is terminated. Lily is free to explore sex without pain.

Caleb has returned to the Realm and is now a prophet. To try to save the world, the Vampires, Witches, Kurjuans, and Demons are attempting peace talks. Lily and Caleb must work closely together to ensure these talks are run smoothly and safely. Tension is high but can Lily and Caleb remain focused on peace or will their burning desire finally engulf their souls?

I am captivated by Zanetti’s vampire world. Her characters have depth. The men in her stories are overprotective and alpha while the women are still stubborn and independent. Zanetti’s exploration of the relationship dynamics between alpha men and independent women is spicy and fun. She is always able to find a way for the men to maintain their dominance while allowing the women to achieve their own goals. Her heroines are always resilient and never appear weak while falling in love with tough, alpha men. I enjoyed reading Caleb and Lily’s story. Who knew a rebel could be such a romantic? I highly recommend this series to anyone who enjoys vampire novels, especially Lara Adrian’s Midnight Breed Series.

Thank you Kensington Publishing Corp. for the opportunity to read this novella early. I truly love this series. I received an advanced copy from Net Galley in return for my honest review.

I have come to really appreciate the ‘in between’ novellas that pull out a couple of intriguing secondary characters and give them their own story. In this case, it is the vampire version of a second chance romance and it was cute, passionate, exciting, and leaves even more anticipation than ever for the grand finale in the series.

Lily has done her duty all her life even at the cost of following her heart with Caleb Donovan. She was made a widowed mate shortly into her mating and also a prophet effectively taking away most of her choices. Now because of the virus that attacks vampire mates, she is free to be with other males and enjoy some excitement before the peace talks commence. In the meantime, she is having disturbing dreams that call upon her to choose whether she will follow fate’s directive as she always has or follow what her ever instinct tells her and apparently the fate of the world is riding on her choice.

Already frustrated because fate picked him to be the newest prophet when he’s a warrior and a fighter, Caleb can’t believe his eyes when he sees sheltered, starched up, ladylike Lily in a bar and she is planning to proposition a male to scratch her itch. He lost her hundreds of years ago when she chose duty over him unfortunately his feelings for her never went away. If Lily needs a male then it’s going to be him.

This story is a direct follow up from the previous book in the series (yes, that’s a recommendation that they be read in order). It gets to the point quickly yet not so quickly that it doesn’t develop the characters or the story.

Lily is like a woman who has been frozen by time. There was a part of me that kept asking, ‘Is she for real?’ even while I chuckled over her cute naïveté as she wants to run with the big dogs. She believes in what she does and believes there is a chance for peace out of the peace talks. She gets frustrated when Caleb and the others bulldoze over her wishes and the fact that she is a rational and thinking person. That being said, Caleb stirs her up so that she can barely think straight and the hidden woman comes out and challenges him to take her to the heights of passion.

Caleb is all alpha male. He just knows how to be a soldier and sees no glory in getting sidelined into this prophet gig. He will be both and has no intentions of pretending to impartiality amongst the races or believing the peace talks are nothing more than a trap. Even while he wants Lily, he is highly amused by her Susie Sunshine approach to life which only heightens her appeal for the big gruff warrior. Caleb was the best part of this story.

In the end, I was mildly taken with Lily and enjoyed Caleb’s larger than life personality. I was engrossed in finding out what choice Lily would make and then I was taken by surprise by that twist that led into the big ending.

Those who love passionate, lethal and possessive alpha type vampire males, creative paranormal worldbuilding and exciting plots should jump on this series.

My thanks to Net Galley for the opportunity to read this book in exchange for an honest review.

Rebecca Zanetti's Dark Protector series book 6.5, Tamed is fantastic! I love this series, I read this twice before I sat down and wrote this review. Caleb and Lily finally! In previous books Caleb was designated by Fate to be a Prophet, the only problem is that Caleb is a warrior, the Realm Rebel was kicked out of the realm for choosing his family members marriage to a shifter rather then the arranged demon, but with the war join forces with Dage and the rest of the Kayrs Brothers to fight the Kurjans. Lily has been dealt a bad hand in some ways she chose duty over love only to end up alone and a prophet when her mate died weeks after mating leaving her alone for more the three hundred years. After being infected by a virus that removed her mates mark she finds herself longing for the intimate touch of another person, and that person is Caleb.

The Prophet Lily Sotheby always presented a conservative and peaceful exterior, what else would you think a prophet to look like especially one who counsel the soldiers on PTSD and everything else. But their is one person who knows Lily better then that, knows she's got a fierce tempter and a hidden passion buried deep under the cool calm cover, and he has never stopped loving her even after she chose someone else chose duty over Caleb Donovan. Caleb Donovan despite his Prophet title is helping set up the peace talks between the different races of the Realm, as a warrior by nature he is paranoid about letting Lily be there, fearing he would be to distracted by her to do his job correctly. Still hopeless in love with her he is more then willing to help her scratch that itch, that itch she hasn't been able to scratch since the death of her mate.

Together at last Caleb and Lily are both having strange dreams. Dreams in which Fate is telling them they have to kill Janie Kayrs in order for all the races to survive the war. Not believing in the dreams no matter how tempting they make killing her seem Lily and Caleb aren't giving in. But is something more sinister behind dreams or is it really Fate pushing them?

This was so not long enough I so wanted more when I finished reading it, and the bad thing is that I have to wait until December for the next one. Caleb and Lily make a hot couple and Rebecca Zanetti sure knows how to write sex. *fans self* If you haven't read this series READ IT! I personally like it better the Brotherhood of the Black Dagger.

*I received a free ARC of Tamed from Kensington Books via Netgalley in exchange of an honest review*

Even if Tamed is book 6.5 in the Dark Protectors series, I thoroughly enjoyed reading this story. The characters made me want to get to know them a lot better, the whole world is extremely interesting, and I really want to know much more about everything! There are prophets, demons, vampires, shifters and in Tamed the main character is a very strong, female prophet. Lily really intrigued me, and the way she seemed so quiet and ladylike one moment, but was able to fight to the death the next made me love her.

Caleb is another great character in Tamed, and I wonder what he has been doing earlier in his life to be so calculating, and believing in war more than he believes in peace. Apart from being very strong and good-looking, he seems to be the kind of character who will be loyal until the very end – unless he is double-crossed, of course. And the dynamics between the different factions, demons, vampires, shifters and witches appeal to me as well. I love reading stories with different kinds of paranormal creatures, and when there is some magic and politics involved as well, I am usually in story-heaven.

I wish I was on vacation right now, so that after finishing Tamed I could pick up Fated, then Claimed and work my way through the whole series in one go. And I can honestly say that even reading this book that is quite far into the series didn’t take anything away from my enjoyment at all.

This novella in the Dark Protectors series is a riveting paranormal read that keeps readers on the edge. Caleb Donovan is a soldier, he was never meant to be a prophet even if does put him in close contact with Lily. Lily is eager to explore her wild side, but is vulnerable to a forced mating with an enemy. If Caleb charges to the rescue it just might change both their destinies.

This fast paced plot keeps the reader hovering in anticipation with lots of suspense, action, drama and romance. The author brings the world of the Dark Protectors to life with well written scenes and details that capture the imagination and tension builds throughout the story as the time for the proposed peace talks with their enemies grows closer. The strong compelling characters are easily related to and grab the reader’s attention from the very beginning.

The attraction between Lily and Caleb is hot enough to scorch the reader and the sex scenes are red hot and steamy, but the relationship set explosions off when the two get around each other, snarky dialogue accompanies quite a few arguments between the two not only because of their past, but because of differing opinion on what being a prophet means and whether fate really plays a part. The reader can’t help but get caught up their story and certainly can empathize with the choice they have to make, kill a friend or destroy the world. The visions have tensions running high between the prophets and to spice things up even more, the enemy wants Lily for himself.

I was totally engrossed in this quick thrilling read with its fascinating world and captivating characters and I can’t wait to read the next one.

Tamed is book 6.5 in the Dark Protector series and it centre's around the Prophets, Caleb and Lily.

Caleb and Lily were friends a long time ago, more than friends to be truthful but then Lily was duty bound to marry another, shortly after she was widowed and has been alone ever since. Now with the virus running rampant, she has a chance that she never had before, a chance to move on and experience life.

The peace talks are approaching and all the Prophets need to have their heads in the game but dreams, premonitions and visions from fate are interfering - how do they distinguish truth from fiction?

I enjoyed this little novella, it sets everything up for Janie's book which I am eagerly anticipating. Caleb was a strong, alpha male with the protective streak that I love in a hero. Lily wasn't the usual strong, kick-ass heroine but that's ok. It felt like she was starting to figure out who she is meant to be and taking steps to be that person. Her inner strength is starting to show and she's going to need it if everyone is going to survive the next part of the tale.

While I've read several books by Ms. Zanetti. This was my first in this series and I can honestly tell you the heat index was off the charts. Lily and Caleb courted over three centuries ago, against her wishes she was mated to another vampire. Married for less than a month, widowed for over two hundred years, she has not been with a man due to the mating bond that does not die even if your mate does however, Lily has been infected with a virus which eliminates the mate restriction. Caleb is a soldier and warrior through and through, yet fate is a quirky mistress. He becomes what he most scorned, a prophet. One thing has not changed is his unending love for the proper Lily. When they come together to broker the peace desperately needed to save the world, all the combustible feelings can no longer be contained. Lily made the decision to choose duty before love, you learn from your mistakes and boy does Lily make up for lost time, it's time for her to go get her man. Faced with a betrayal no one saw coming and prophesies left and right, can they make the right decisions needed to save their race? Right or wrong, Caleb won't allow the past to repeat itself especially where Lily is concerned. A wonderful read which finished all too quickly. The authors ability to create such a believable world with paranormal and the human realm. Her depth of her characters are so detailed and heart warming, a definite keeper and one you won't want to miss.

I received a copy from the publisher through NetGalley in exchange for my honest review, so here it is. This is one of those stories that makes me think if some of it just might be true. Lily is a prophet and sees what Fate shows her. Caleb never wanted to be a prophet, he is a warrior. But that is what happens when you are close to a prophet when he or she dies. You take over in their place. Caleb has loved Lily for over 300 years. He has never had the feelings he has for Lily for any other woman. And now he will have her and protect her. But can they survive together? Caleb is a vampire, and Lily has a virus that has unmated her but the virus stops her from mating with any male. Lily, Caleb and a third prophet will have to save the Realm. It is what keeps humans safe from those wanting to destroy them. This is a great story to take you away for a time and just enjoy the ride. This is the second book for me by Rebecca Zanetti and I think I am addicted. Although I didn't start at the beginning of the series, I still loved it and will have to go back and read from the beginning. Give Rebecca a try and enjoy yourself.

I love second chance love stories! Lily and Caleb’s chemistry was palpable in this novella. While I enjoyed their love story, what I really loved was seeing Janie as an adult and what she’s been doing in preparation for the peace talks. Ever since the second book in the series, Janie hasn’t gotten much page time and I loved seeing the strong, skilled woman that she’s become.

This novella is a great bridge between books and is an exciting lead up to Janie’s book, Marked, the last book in this story arc. We also get to see Jase and Dage in the novella as well as the Kurjan leader, Franco. So many things happened including smokin’ hot sex scenes between Lily and Caleb and a betrayal that I did not see coming! We are also treated to a bonus scene at the end of the book with Janie contemplating Fate and her future. This is a must read for anyone who loves the series and for anyone who believes in second chance love.

Caleb and Lily's story:

This was way too short but only because I really liked this couple and would have loved to see more from them. I would not suggest reading this as a standalone. See standard review for overall series below.

Series Review: Fun, fast paced PNR series. Great storyline, characters and suspense. Insta-love, mates for life, possessive Alphas and grotesque evil foes. There are Vampires, Shifters, witches, Demons and more. This is a continued storyline focusing on a different couple per book.

Love Caleb. I agree with other reviewers. Caleb deserved a full book. Loved him from when I first met him. Love Lily too, but at times she was a bit too much from times gone by. How is it she didn't move into the future like others. In any event, they are a good couple and she has, indeed, proven her strength. I'm happy about that. I always felt the betrayal was within, but it doesn't quite explain the leaks in the past. The prophet wasn't always around. I'm excited to see what becomes of the peace talks. Kalin, Zane and Janie are next. I expect a huge battle.

Tamed by Rebecca Zanetti is a great novella to read even if you have not read the other books in this series.

Caleb Donovan lost Lily three centuries ago because it was ordained she marry another man. He repressed his passion and surrendered to the fate they had. But he no longer inclined to follow fate and repress his passions.

Lily has in celibacy for centuries since she became a widow. Now she is once again being forced onto another relationship with a man who happens to be her enemy. She is no longer willing to submit easily. She want to explore more of the wild side of life, but she will be forced to find her own escape or if Caleb comes to her rescue she may just get what her heart has desired for a long time to come.

A hot and fun novella, Lily and Caleb will have you rooting for them and reaching for a cool glass of water. Not to mention that you get to see a bonus scene with Janie contemplating Fate and her future, which gives a hint onto what is to come in this series.

Caleb is a made prophet that would prefer fighting than making peace. He has never forgotten Lily who many years ago left him, to married someone else for duty. Caleb has waited many years, but now that Lily is on the market looking for passion again. He decides that he wasted enough time already, and that he is going to go after what he wants.
Caleb is one of those sexy heroes to die for.
Lily is a strong woman, who has finally decided that is her time to shine.
This was a fast paced novel that kept me reading page after page. There was love, but also plenty of action as well as paranormal elements. Once again, Rebecca Zanetti proves why she is a NY and USA best seller. I don’t know how she does but she can create tales that are full of passion and mysteries to be remembered by her readers for many years to come.
The ending was unexpected that left me with my mouth open.
I highly recommend this novel, another winner, not to be missed. I’ll give it 5 stars to TAMED.

REVIEW:
What would you do if the woman of your dreams married someone else?
And then what would you do if you had a chance to finally get what you want?
Would you take it? Would you let anything stand in your way?

Well not if you are Caleb Donovan. When a chance with Lily presents itself he will do anything to grab on to her and never let her go. Nothing will stand in his way not an upcoming peace talk between the war factions of the world. Not very disturbing dreams and sure as heck not a kidnapping attempt.

This was a great addition to the Dark Protectors series. But I will say that it really did leaving dying for the next book in this series.

If you are a Dark Protectors fan you will love Caleb & Lily’s story.

The Dark Protectors series is what brought me to Rebecca Zanetti in the first place and I don't regret it whatsoever. I thoroughly enjoyed this book

It's so hard to come up with the right words to describe a great book without repeating myself over and over in different reviews. But anyway, I liked Lily in this book because she wasn't afraid to start living (finally). She carried a very heavy burden on her shoulders, as one of the prophets of their kind. She's been receiving disturbing dreams from the goddess recently, calling on her to do something that she's never been asked to do. I found that a very interesting gift, and I liked the slant Ms. Zanetti gave the prophets in this book.

This is book 6.5 in the Dark Protector Series by Rebecca Zanetti. Each one of these is building to a huge climax, and I can hardly wait to see the outcome.

While this is a later book in the series, one can quickly be caught up in the world that Ms. Zanetti has built. A world of vampires, demons, humans, kurjans, prophets, and shifters.

Caleb is a warrior who was in the wrong place at the right time and is now a prophet. He kind of thinks that his warrior status outweighs the prophet every time. He needs to rethink and come to terms with his new status. He's been in love with Lily for centuries. Her family married, and mated, her to another 300 years ago. He died shortly after their bonding, and she's been alone since. There was no way to even touch another man in all that time because the mating bond acted like a severe allergen. But now she's been infected with a virus created by the Kurjans...and the mating bond has eased. She's also going to die, eventually, from the virus.

Yes, lots of twists and turns here. But this author makes it easy to follow. That takes talent.

Lily and Caleb have hankered after each other all this time and now they have the opportunity to come together. Your reader may just melt. Of course, the path is littered with betrayal, nightmares, abductions, shootings, and mystery. What a fun ride this is!

Now, I really need Jane's story!

*Thank you, NetGalley and Kensington, for the opportunity to read Tamed*

Have just finished a marathon of "Dark Protectors"--Books 1-6, plus "Tamed" and "Twisted". "Marked" doesn't come out until Dec, by which time I will be in deep withdrawal. Loved this series and every one of the characters. The ONLY complaint I have is the somewhat sketchy timeline. I'm still not sure where Tamed and Twisted fit and there were a few spots in the 1-6 books that I had a little head scratching going on as I tried to figure out if I had jumped dimensions or missed a chapter. I look forward to "Marked" and, hopefully, a resolution to the prophecy,...preferably letting Kalin get his obnoxious arse kicked. Strong characters, colorful, to be sure, with an excellent story line and careful development. I am now going to explore other of Mz. Zanetti's books to see if she holds true to the standards set here.

Lily is a prophet and has been celibate for century's, and she's decided she's had enough and wan't some fun. As story unfolds so does Lily's passed history, I liked her very much, but her history sounded very sad.

Caleb is vampire, he's more of a warrior like character. He had an affair with Lily before she had to marry someone else. Their meeting is a shock for Caleb, and Lily better have some explaining to do.

Their was action, intrigue and steamy romance to keep the reader happy in short novella. This was first book that I've read by this author and I enjoyed it very much, it is part of the Dark Protectors series.

Yet another stellar book in the Dark Protectors series. I love a story in which the Hero recognizes and knows he's in love with the heroine before she knows she's in love with him. I loved Caleb. He may be a Prophet, but he's a soldier first. And yet he's tempered by the soft, yet strong Lily. She believes in peace and Fate, whereas Caleb doesn't. They complement each other well. This book was only 99 pages and even though it seemed like so much happened and pushed us closer and closer to Janie's story, nothing felt rushed. The story, as well as every other story in the series, has perfect pacing and leaves you wanting more. Can't wait for the final book in the series although I'm going to be sad to see it end! This is a series I wish could last forever.

I enjoyed “Tamed”. Lily and Caleb are some of my favorite characters in the Dark Protectors series. Lily was such a strong woman. She gave up so much for duty; it was refreshing to see her finally get the love and happiness she deserved. Caleb’s stoic personality made my heart race. I just knew he still loved Lily. I was so happy to see him finally get a second chance at love.

This was also a great continuation of the battle between good and bad that all the Dark Protectors are facing. I can’t wait to read more.

I read A LOT of books and I am always glad to be able to give a raving review. They can't all be winners but R Zanetti writes a winner. I really enjoyed this book and the entire series. The books grabbed my attention and kept me interesting. The main characters were interesting. Although it is an alpha-male type book, the females retain their intelligence and dignity. I hate that many of the strong or dominant male hero books now reduce women to brainless subs. Its fun to find a title with great romance that doesn't sacrifice a quality story to get it. The sci fi creatures are awesome. The writing is excellent and I cannot wait for the next book.

Caleb is a soldier and a prophet. Most of all, he's the man who has always loved Lily. Lily is a psychologist and a prophet. Most of all, she's a woman who has always loved Caleb, but who married someone else for duty. Her life is in jeopardy with a Kurjans leader who wants her for his own. A trusted colleague proves to be duplicitous leading to her kidnapping. Caleb and the Kayrs rescue Lily and eliminate the threat so the peace talks can proceed. This is a lovely story about two people who co promise to be together despite the limitations of Virus 27.

Ya gotta love a little novel in between waiting for the next title release in a series. Tamed was a great mid wait read. Caleb and his long awaited love Lily reconnect in the most combustible ways. She is tired of being treated like the lady of times gone by and wants to feel the love of a real man. Caleb is just the guy.

I really liked these two together. Smart and fun with some action and intrigue. All in all a great quick read. Perfect for the waiting room or when you’re on the go.

It’s Zanetti so it’s always a good read.

Tamed started a bit slow but build to a faced paced high tempo Love story. Caleb and The Prophet Lily have been in love for over 300 yrs. Now its their time to be together. The story is full of sensuous romantic scenes. We see Lily become a powerhouse of a women. I liked the way her character in the story has grown. I loved her and the sexy Alpha male Vampire Caleb together. Their are some surprises that I didn't figure out until close to the end. The novella ends with a bang and just makes you want more right now!! Our girl Janie is up next in "Marked" released 12/14. Oh boy I can't wait.

Lily is a prophet who was married to another prophet centuries ago but he died weeks after they mated. Caleb was known as the Realm Rebel but when one of the three prophets is killed, he is marked to take his place. Lily and Caleb knew each other long ago and she had to choose duty or love and she chose duty. Now Caleb isn't going to let her get away this time.
They are trying to negotiate peace between the Kurjans, vamps, demons, and witches but someone or something interferes.
Long lost loves, creepy vamps, prophets, and hot sex.

This was the best novella I read in the Dark Protectors series. As it closes to the big end, the stakes are high right now and Lily and Caleb have been having dreams about help saving the world. The problem is that those dreams dictate they kill Janie Kayrs, a choice they don't want to follow. It's just that going against Fate's orders compromises their future.

With an hot and romantic love story, of two people separated three centuries ago, this was a wonderful read.

This was a really good paranormal romance, and different outlook on the whole vampire and mate relationship. I liked the book but really wish it was not tease. I mean the story of the hero and heroine is pretty much complete but we still don't know somethings and there were several story lines left open, though I understand the need for that to link the series it just left me edgy to read more. This is good for the author of course just annoying for me. I can't wait to find out what happens and how Jane fairs.

What can I say? I'm hooked on the Dark Protector Series. This was really short, which is always a bit disappointing, but I knew it would be by the price, so i can't say I was surprised. I'm glad another reviewer called it 6.5 in the series - it was a very short read. I have to be honest that neither Caleb or Lily were high on my list of people I cared about so I just couldn't get into this book as much as the others. I would have liked it better if it had the other characters we know and love. This one was almost exclusively Caleb and Lily with some Janie and Dage thrown in. I missed all the other vamps and their mates. Just my opinion. This is a GREAT series and I will keep reading them as long as the author keeps writing them!

Tamed (Dark Protectors) by Rebecca Zanetti was shorter than some of the other Dark Protectors stories. When I was reading the story of Caleb and Lily, I was thinking this isn't moving the big story concerning Janie and the war along, especially since there was very little mentioned of Zane and Kalin. Now thinking back I actually applaud Ms. Zanetti’s subtle way of moving characters in and more importantly out so that everything is in place for the final showdown. Since the first book in this series, Janie has been predicted to be a world changer. So it was an interesting read while waiting for the great finale.

I enjoyed getting to know Caleb and Lily, who had a past (like a childhood crush kind of thing) but seemed like opposites now. However, they were very well suited to complement each other.

Part of the series but this novella can easily be read as a stand-alone.

It was great to see Lily and Calab get their own story. Throughout the other books it was obvious that there was a history and a connection between the two of them, so I really enjoyed getting to see their story unfolds in this book.
