I don't know what I was expecting but this wasn't what I thought. It was well written and I did laugh a few times but I thought the stories should have been chronological. The author probably had a reason . I read the whole book so it kept my attention

Mr. Kelly did a great job of describing his experience with his parents at a park in the summer. I really enjoyed that story. His descriptions of people throughout the book are very detailed and entertaining. There were a few flashes of "Evil Clinton" that were particularly funny yet subdued but he didn't elaborate enough on that. I thought there would be more interludes or explanations and background about what it has been like being male in a female dominated industry Maybe if he shared those secrets he'd be out of a job? Was hoping there would be more about what it was like growing up. Read about first meeting Paula Deen and actually saw that episode. Wanted to read more about his thoughts on that. He was obviously fighting the urge to let go of some profanities but didn't. Seems like he held a lot back and maybe it would have been TMI. Certainly a different perspective but a good read to better understand somebody I see on TV.

This book made me laugh out loud at times. It's definitely one of the better celebrity memoir type books I've read recently - which include Andy Cohen's second diary and Amy Schumer's book. Is there some great moral lesson that you're supposed to get from this - not one I saw. I took it for what it was, a collection of short stories from various points in his life. To me, they did not have an overall theme. Some of them are funny, some uncomfortable and some have juicy gossip. I wish the book was longer but I'm hoping that means there might be a I Hate Everyone Part 2.

I like Clinton Kelly, but honestly this book was awful. I feel like I wasted my money on it.
It came across and of obnoxious story telling in a bar when half drunk.
This was really beneath his talent level.

Trying to find the right words......but it's hurting my brain. I always liked Clinton Kelly (or his on stage persona) but feeling quite different now)' SNARKY......that's the word to best describe him. . Don't think I could watch his show in the same way any more (the chew)'. The title should be.......I hate everyone!!!!#

I read this book in 2 days! It is hilarious! Kind of an eye opener about gay life. I was always kind of grossed out by gay men, but they're people too and deserve to be happy. Clinton has some funny, funky stories!

I read all these reviews about how funny this was. I was very much disappointed. To me, these were the ramblings of a sad, pretentious queen. No real substance, whining about why he wasn't pretty, why he struggled with not being pretty, and trying desperately to be accepted by people as pretentious as he was.

This is very up to date and quite frank. The language is not what you'd expect from Kelly's TV persona, but refreshingly honest.

There are even pieces of his own "scripts" that will probably never be published!

A must for anyone who is trying to keep up on America's nattiest dresser!

I have been following Clinton Kelly faithfully on The Chew. He is a very good writer. There were many laugh out loud parts. Sometimes I could not stop laughing. Some of the book read as if it was a novel rather than a memoir of his life but that made it interesting. I think i would have liked to have more of "The Chew Clinton".

Mr. Kelly's collection of extremely well-written essays is a fun and easy read. I enjoyed the glimpses into his off-screen life. I would have given it five stars if it had been more autobiographical, rather than observational. But, that is just personal preference. I wanted to know more about him and his day-to-day life. While I think that many of these essays DID shed light on who he is, his likes and dislikes, and his "how did I get here?" story, I wanted MORE. (Again, personal preference.) I would definitely recommend this book.

The saddest thing, it ended too soon! I love watching Clinton on the Chew and reading it was just like hearing him talk you through his stories. A quick vacation read. Just as Fabulous as Clinton himself.

I loved this book and the stories that Clinton Kelly shared. His book starts out talking about famous or infamous(at least to the Tri-state area at the time) water park Action Park. As soon as I read that, I knew I was in for a good read and a few laughs. He covers everything from growing up on Long Island to What Not to Wear, his encounter with Paula Deen, to how he met Damon, and the high school commencement speech he gave. I had read his speech before but was happy to read it again. It is s great reminder for us all.
I highly recommend you read this book. It is sure to make you smile!

My wife and I watch The Chew and we really like Clinton. He's a great host and fun to watch but this book is a disaster. It's unfunny and a self-absorbed rant. The title should have been "I Hate Everyone Including Myself". Clinton may look back on this in a few years and cringe.

When (If) it's released in paperback he should dedicate it to all the authors who never got published and deserved to, and apologize to them for taking one of their slots.

My mother used to make me watch What Not To Wear, as I was pretty much a fashion don't my whole life. I didn't think I'd learn much by watching the show. I was wrong. I'm not one of those people who got a makeover and then my whole life changed. I know how to dress better than I do. I just refuse to care. But that's me. I still learned things, thanks to the shows two hosts, Stacy London and Clinton Kelly. And one of the things I learned is how much I like Clinton Kelly.

Out in stores today is his new book, I Hate Everyone, Except You, a collection of essays and stories about him and his life. It's not just about his time on television, but he does refer to his days on What Not To Wear and The Chew. It's not just about his childhood, but he does tell stories of friendships, high school, first jobs, and the amusement park he had to go to. And he tells all these stories with his trademark intelligence, wit, and slight snark.

Clinton Kelly is the gay best friend you wish you had. He can get you an invitation to the party, help you get dressed for it (and look fabulous!), be your well-dressed wing man, make sure you're well fed and drunk, help you get home if you need it, and be there the next day for all the bitchy gossip. Although he doesn't have to get you to a party. He can mock porn with you, pull you out of a particularly sticky mud bath, and still come up with 100(ish) article ideas overnight. What a Renaissance man!

Clinton Kelly is a fantastic writer, and this is one of the best memoirs I've read in months. I laughed my head off with this and was so jealous of his close friends. I wish I could have a friend as smart and bitchy and fun as these essays reveal him to be. Read this book, people! It will make your 2017!

(Note: There are some stories in this book that may not appropriate for young readers. Keep that in mind if you are or if you are buying this for a sensitive reader.)

LOVED this book! It made me laugh out loud and reminded of the best (and worst) of the 80's and 90's. Who knew Clinton Kelly could give a scene by scene break down of early 80's soft core porn??
I pick it up and reread portions of it when I need an instant mood lifter!

I've loved Clinton for a number of years. I enjoy watching him on the Chew and feel he's an excellent host but this book is a bit out there for me! I was shocked at some of the things I was reading and feel really sorry he felt the need to be so open about not only stuff personal to him but guests that have been on the show!!! It's great that we all opinions but I feel some shouldn't be shared outside of our circle.

Hilarious! The books starts off with an amazingly funny first chapter and just gets rolling from there. Clinton Kelly has a fantastic way of writing, you feel like he's telling you the story, in person. If you can make it through the first chapter (Kamakazi!) without laughing your face off, then you need to seek professional help. LOVED this book and I'm hoping he writes another one, very soon!

I think most everyone knows who Clinton Kelly is. He was one of the hosts on TLC's wildly popular show What Not to Wear, a show where he and his cohost, Stacy London, helped fashion-impaired women dress better (and ultimately feel better about themselves). The show went on for something like ten seasons. It was formulaic, of course, but still really fun. Now he's a host on The Chew, a show on ABC about food and people and gatherings, etc., which I've never seen but is apparently popular, too.

Kelly has written a bunch of books. I've read two of them (and enjoyed one...). Freakin' Fabulous: How to Dress, Speak, Behave, Eat, Drink, Entertain, Decorate, and Generally Be Better than Everyone Else gives genuinely good advice on how to dress, act, speak, entertain, cook, etc., and I loved it. Oh No She Didn't: The Top 100 Style Mistakes Women Make and How to Avoid Them talks about the top 100 mistakes women make when dressing themselves, and though the advice is somewhat helpful, the tone is super snarky and I couldn't stand it.

I Hate Everyone Except You doesn't focus on advice at all. It's a collection of stories, almost all memoir-ish (with some random stuff, like a screenplay Kelly wrote, thrown in). And, honestly, there are some flawless moments in here. Kelly's writing is strongest when he talks about the things, especially the people, he loves most: the women he helped on What Not To Wear, his husband, his sister, his dog. And I loved Kelly's earnestness and honesty when he talked about his complicated relationship with Stacy London. Those stories sang.

But there are other chapters that fall flat--mostly, in my opinion, because Kelly chooses to be obnoxious and prickly instead of calm or thoughtful. He's funny even when he's catty, sure, but it gets old. I grew tired of his rude and overly annoyed tone. Sometimes he comes across as bitter--maybe over something deeper that he doesn't want to reveal, or possibly over something he hasn't even figured out himself yet. Other times, his over-the-top exasperation seems so unnecessarily dramatic that I wondered if it was all an act. Either way, I kept wanting to tell him, "Just breathe, Clinton. It's not that big of a deal. And you don't have to be so mean about it."

I definitely like this book better than Oh No She Didn't, and I do appreciate Kelly's willingness to share personal stories and make himself more vulnerable. But I still hoped for more--more about who Kelly really is and less about what he happens to be grumpy about today. The book held my attention and I zipped right through it, but I think it could have been stronger.

I purchased this book because, like so many others, I enjoyed What Not to Wear and Mr. Kelly's first book. I always thought it would be fun to have dinner with Mr. Kelly and pick his fashion forward brain. Imagine my disappointment when in one of his essays he revealed his disdain at the show WNTW and its viewers/participants.

Initially I had high hopes for this book since I literally laughed out loud while reading the first essay. Again, I was to be disappointed when the tone of the writing became darker and more snarky, and the vocabulary foul and juvenile. Mr. Kelly comes across as an unhappy, ungrateful, foul mouthed, self centered child.

This is what Dorothy must have felt like when she pulled back the curtain.

I don’t read many, okay any, writing by celebrities ever. Ever. The only exception I would make is for Clinton Kelly!
This man can make me laugh with just a look! By all rights I think he should be Southern! He is a gentleman, dresses impeccably, and is just the right amount of sarcastic!Reading about his life you can tell right away this is a man who loves his family and husband. The rest of the world maybe not so much and that is what I love about him!

This book of little screen shots of his life before and after What Not to Wear was a laugh out loud read! While Mr. Kelly is too polite to be rude to co-hosts or guests on his show, whether it’s WNTW or The Chew, you now know that like most of us, the conversation in his head is hilarious!

And about the Turd in the Punch Bowl…. I totally agree!

Thank you Clinton for letting us into your oh so interesting world!

Thank you Netgalley and the Publisher for this book!

What a waste of paper--nothing interesting from a dull TV "personality." He is married to a man but refuses to give any personal information about their relationship. He pads the already-thin book with an entire unfunny sitcom script he tried to write. He goes on an anti-Republican rant. He claims to be "not into drugs," then he tells you how he has done his "fair share of them" He pads the book again with a ten-page interview when he did "research" after a friend illegally gave him medical marijuana. He tells you about how his penis tip changed color (seriously). He pads again with a commencement address he gave. Some of this may sound fun in the right hands, but there is not one interesting thing in this book. Oh, he makes sure to say he didn't get along with his What Not To Wear co-star, but then fake praises her anyway. The book reveals the author to be a shallow, selfish, boring, demeaning braggart who truly does hate just about everyone. And now he has given readers a reason to hate him. Deserves zero stars.

I Hate Everyone, Except You
4.0 stars

What I thought I was going to be reading:
I have enjoyed watching Clinton Kelly on What Not to Wear as well as The Chew. I have never read anything by Clinton, however, so I did not know what to expect of his writing. I had an assumption of his style of humor just based on seeing him on the aforementioned shows. I had also just finished reading Mindy Kaling’s Why Not Me?, so I was anticipating a similar-style read.

What I actually read:
Interestingly, I Hate Everyone, Except You turned out to be more of a collection of short stories than an autobiography. I actually enjoyed Clinton’s writing and humor throughout nearly every story. Normally with collections of short stories, there are stories that I have trouble slogging through. With this collection, however, I felt that all the stories were enjoyable. I particularly liked the story of Clinton and his high school friend renting adult videos and watching them to memorize the cheesy dialogue. I found myself laughing out loud a few times. At one point in the novel, Clinton makes a play that he insists is filled with characters that are not based on What Not to Wear co-workers. Going into the short story, I rolled my eyes at the idea of reading a play, thinking how terrible the story was about to be. I was pleasantly surprised.

What you should expect:
Expect a quick, breezy read. Expect to laugh out loud, or at least smirk. Don’t expect a lot of discussion about the behind-the-scenes scandals or feuds on either of his shows (although he does touch briefly on his tense relationship with cohost of Stacy London). Instead, expect a collection of lighthearted, humorous stories about Clinton’s childhood, career, and romantic relationships.

Became a fan of Clinton Kelly's when he started co-hosting The Chew. I really had no interest in his other show What Not To Wear, as fashion bores me. On The Chew, I found him to be intriguing for his personality, along with his twisted sense of humor, and his twinkly charisma. The man is crazy! In a unharmful way of course. He is a whole different big ball of wax to learn about. By reading the book you learn of another side of Mr. Kelly. In my opinion, the man is gay, moody, opinionated, dramatic, has probably one of the world's biggest hearts for the things he loves; and after reading the book I love him even more! I enjoyed reading about this man's many normal life challenges with the addition to all of them of being gay. I learned Clinton Kelly is not a patient man, he doesn't wait for life to please him, he makes happiness and contentment happen on his own clock! It was a short read but I decided to savour each chapter of it over many cups of tea and several glasses of Chardonnay. At the end, I found it to be simply good entertainment and a read I felt that was indulgently trashy.

I’d previously read (and loved) Freakin’ Fabulous, so I was fully prepared for the sassy and hilarious tone that is Clinton Kelly. And wow does he dive in, warts and all, as he presents a collection of stories that cover brief moments in his life, from his pre-teen years to being cast on What Not to Wear to that oh-so-classy interaction with Paula Deen on The Chew.

While there are a ton of books written by “famous” people, I dare you to find one that is more down to earth and refreshing. Mr. Kelly comes across as someone you could enjoy a laugh with over a glass of wine or the most awkward of situations. The reflections he shares about the long hours on set of What Not to Wear and how the show impacted his journey come across as grateful and sincere. The stories are charming, sometimes raw and on occasion catty, but always witty. I only hope that there were a few stories he held back for a sequel.

Clinton Kelly, the Emmy Award-winning cohost of "The Chew" and "What Not to Wear," is no stranger to bookshelves, having written several self-help books on dressing right, avoiding fashion mistakes and entertaining on a budget. I HATE EVERYONE, EXCEPT YOU is Kelly's first book of autobiographical essays, detailing growing up gay on Long Island, N.Y., snagging a writing job at Marie Claire magazine and segueing into a successful career hosting two very popular television shows.

The acerbic and droll Kelly is a marvelous storyteller, whether he's remembering teenage weekends spent with his best female friend renting porn videos and critiquing the dialogue; having a bathing suit mishap at a water park; experimenting with edible marijuana; or enjoying his favorite pastime: correcting other people's grammar. Fans will also enjoy his affectionate and biting behind-the-scenes tales of working with cohost Stacy London on WNTW. He writes that they got along like "a house on fire, from my first day on the job. And as the years wore on, I wished that house would have burned down to the ground." Kelly also tries his hand at fiction, including one short story and an unsold roman à clef TV pilot he wrote about working on a make-over TV show.

I HATE EVERYONE, EXCEPT YOU is snarky and witty fun. The final chapter finds Kelly reluctantly returning to a high school he hated and giving a commencement address that is much like this book--funny, smart and profane. Clinton Kelly's collection of autobiographical essays showcases his snarky and biting humor but often reveals his heart and vulnerability.

I Hate Everyone, Except You is a deeper look into the man many have come to love. Clinton Kelly has always appeared to be this perfect well-put together man. I could never imagine him doing anything that was well-done.  His taste and mannerisms come alive in this journey. A journey through his younger years and into the man he is now. I found it quite interesting. There's more depth to this celebrity than I thought originally. He's funny, bold, and learns along the way. Watching him fail, wasn't really failure...it was success in if it didn't feel so at the time. Failure moments teach and change us. Clinton Kelly grew as he approached his station in his life and career. I loved his caring demeanor towards his family. He and his step-dad went from not liking each other to liking each other. I think we all can learn something from this memoir. Apply it to our own journeys and grow from them. Overall, I Hate Everyone, Except You was inspiring and motivational. The pages held a lot of humor making this feel nothing like a typical memoir.

I received this copy from the publisher. This is my voluntary review.

Absolutely love Clinton Kelly. Have been a fan of his since way back in the day of that show where he helped style a much needed un-stylish person with that one co-host....erm, Stacy London?? An even bigger fan of his now that he is on The Chew. Cheesy show....but I love and watch it almost every day.

So he puts out a book. Yeah..of course I want to read it. Total shocker to see that cover. I didn't even know what I was looking at at first. My eyes could not focus on this mess of color and pattern...and oh...it's a bird. Okay...so it's strange...but kinda cool. I like it.

240 page book of essays detailing Clinton Kelly's life..his career...his experiences and bits of advice you could say based on his journey to what he is today. It's what I expected...a little more even. It's poignant and absolutely hilarious. His personality that his fans know of him really shows in this book...but there is also another side to him that we read that is just as lovely. I was entertained through-out. I enjoyed every single bit of it. "Snarky" was the word used to describe these essays....and I'd say absolutely YES. And if you have ever seen Clinton Kelly on The Chew and What Not To Wear you'd know he does "Snarky" so darn well.

A great book that puts a smile on your face as you are reading. Light read but still strong enough to be fully substantial and thought provoking and true to who Clinton Kelly is.

Thanks as always to the wonderful people of goodreads and Clinton Kelly for my free copy of this book in exchange for an honest review to which I gladly and voluntarily gave and will give where other books (and this book) are sold.

I received a copy of this book through the Goodreads Giveaway program! This will be the first book I'll have read by Clinton Kelly and I can't wait to start! I've watched him on tv for years so I'm excited to learn more about him and his outlook on life.

This book was fantastic! Clinton's voice came through in each and every chapter. It's probably a good thing I didn't read it out in public...they'd have called the 'men with a white jacket' to come for me. I laughed, I cried, I nodded and giggled.

Chapters included singing along with Donna Summers, bonding with his stepdad and working at Marie Claire were followed by an appearance with Paula Dee, meeting Damon and his experience with edible marijuana.

My favorites had to be his ideas for sitcoms, having a perfect anatomy and his commencement speech at his former high school. Of course... I may be a psychopath just like Clinton!

Thank you for a wonderful experience!

If I were walking down an aisle at a bookstore, this book cover would definitely stand out to me. The colors are vibrant and not easy to ignore. However, I would not pick up this book based on the cover. The writer would entice me to check it out, though. This one is hard to rate. It is not a cover that would make me want to check out the book, though it is a cover that will catch my eye long enough to see who wrote it.

The Review
When I saw this book come up on NetGalley, I knew I needed to check it out. I know Clinton Kelly from his time on What Not to Wear. I do know that he hosts/cohosts The Chew — a show I’ve never actually watched so I’m not really sure what it is about exactly — and I was curious about what he had to say.

When I saw that these were essays, I was hoping to learn more about his time on What Not to Wear. This memoir consists of 16 different essays, ranging from him growing up, friendships, relationships, some humorous porn-related anecdotes, and yes, a little bit on What Not to Wear. While I do not feel Kelly was overly rude in his discussions of this show, he was honest. While he did the show — and appears to have formed some sort of friendships with some of the contestants who had been on the show — he was not a fan of the show. It was interesting to take a different look at the show, as not a viewer, but instead someone working on it.

The majority of this was funny and interesting. I read the last 75% of the book over a 24 hour period. Kelly comes across as very intelligent; his writing style is nice and he has a good way of telling stories.

I will say, though, I almost did not finish this book.

The very first essay, “Kamikaze”, discusses him as a teenager and wanting to go to the water park he had seen advertised on TV. He states that the children and teens in the commercial all looked cool, thus him going to the waterpark would make him cool. After he spends lots of time getting the family on board, they go. And he realizes quickly that this water park is not cool. When discussing the negatives of the park, there was quite a bit of body shaming. And I’ll just be honest — it caught me off guard.

Yes, as stated, I know very little about Kelly, other than the persona he had while co-hosting a fashion reality TV show. I know that he is snarky, sassy, all of that. But I also know that he was supportive of those women who were not stick thin. And it made me wonder — was that all fake?

I took myself away from the book and really looked at it. Especially after reading a couple of the other essays, I had to realize — this was written from the perspective of a thirteen year old boy. Of course he would think those things. It doesn’t make it right, but it was truthful.

And that is one thing I liked about these stories. I do not feel that Kelly had any sort of facade in front of him. He chose these stories, some of them I’m sure would be incredibly surprising to a lot of his fans, and he let us into his mind while these were occurring. He doesn’t offer apologies for who he was, but he shows us in the more recent stories the ways he has grown. I think that really added to the story telling.

Overall, once I got over the kind of shock of the first story, I was able to sit down and enjoy the rest. I think anyone who enjoys memoirs — and doesn’t mind some occasional discussion of sexual activities and drug usage — could find some enjoyment in this book. As I said before, this is incredibly well written and the stories are a great range of different topics.

Clinton Kelly's memoir I Hate Everyone, Except You had me laughing from the very first page to the very last! I have to confess that I am not an avid viewer of What Not to Wear so I was able to approach this book as it was presented, without any pretenses. I am so happy that this book found me! His writing reminded me of reading a book by David Sedaris, another one of my favorite comedy writers. Kelly can be a bit snarky when he wants to be but he is surprisingly kind to those he writes about. His observations on life and society are insightful and relate-able. I really enjoyed this book and I think anyone who enjoys funny, essay-style memoirs will enjoy this book. It was a wonderful, light read to pick me up on a rainy day.

Archetypically gay and sometimes not very nice -- but never unreasonable. Quite blue too. If you can get over all that, it's HYSTERICAL! I couldn't believe I read the whole story about Clinton's penis. But, watermelon-colored, I did. (Me, not his.....yeah) I then guffawed and rolled on the floor. For fans of David Sedaris, but this is a bit more raw. ( And I LOVED his plain talking about super-fraud, Paula Deen! Especially when she was perfectly horrid to him on live tv, the vicious cow.)

This was a solid fun read. The writing style and delivery was good, and I laughed out loud from the first chapter. There was a point early on when I wasn’t sure how much I liked him as a person, but as I read, I realized he was really open with his insecurities and his journey through life, which is endearing. Seeing how his relationship with his parents developed was so sweet, and in the end you get this sense that as he has aged, the happier he is. As it should be. I will be sharing this book with friends. We all need fun reads that you don’t want to put down and are easy to read.

I gave this book 2 stars just for the effort. This just proves that anyone could write a book. The hype on a talk show was very over rated. Wish I would have saved my money, but I guess that was his goal.

Essays, stories and musings by Clinton Kelly, the star of TLC's What Not to Wear.

I saw Clinton Kelly speak at the lia sophia conference in June 2011 and enjoyed finding out more about his life. Overall, I found this book entertaining and am giving this book a 4 star rating because Mr. Kelly is honest, funny, and a good human being who obviously cares about his family. As with Scrappy Little Nobody, I think that this one would have been even funnier on audio listening to Clinton Kelly tell the stories himself.

Thank you to the author, the publisher, and NetGalley for a free ARC of this book in exchange for my honest review!

If you should ever find yourself down in the dumps, buy this book, lay back in your recliner and laugh your sadness away. This little book is a collection of happenings in Clinton Kelly's life. Some as he is growing up and some when he is grown. Some snarky, some touching. When I first picked up this book, I had just finished a 400 plus page book that required deep thought . This was a light and very entertaining way to totally relax and enjoy. Thanks to Simon and Schuster for sending this book to me. It's a winner.

Book #40 Read in 2017
I Hate Everyone, Except You by Clinton Kelly

I sometimes watched the TV show "What Not to Wear" and even though I do not cook, I will turn "The Chew" on if I am home on a weekday, so I enjoyed Kelly's snark and sarcasm and figured I would try his book of essays. At times while reading, I snickered, smiled and laughed. Kelly covers a lot of topics with honesty and snark and it made for an enjoyable read. I finished the book in a day. I borrowed the book from the public library.

That I would watch and love the show What Not To Wear was a foregone conclusion. My friends and I couldn't get enough of TLC's offerings: A Wedding Story, A Baby Story, Trading Spaces, we watched it all. My viewing tapered off after college because I was in grad school and living with my parents who did not have cable. But once I got my own place, the stars aligned and I no longer had to sporadically watch my favorite TLC shows. What Not To Wear would have been on the air for 2 years by that point and I delighted in catching up on Stacy and Clinton's delightful banter.

Who among us did not think of someone they could nominate to appear on the show? Let's be honest: I would have been an amazing friend on the sidelines.

I say all this so you understand why I was excited to read Clinton Kelly's memoir. I was hoping to learn more about him, as well as get some behind the scenes dish about the show. And that's exactly what I got.

The book reads as if Kelly is talking to the reader. Perhaps because I've watched him on WNTW and The Chew but his voice was so strong throughout the narrative. At times it read as if we were old pals spilling dirt and other times he held back the curtain just enough to tease. I admire people who have good boundaries on what they're going to share. But that's not to say Kelly doesn't still push the envelope. If you are the sensitive type, a few stories verge on TMI so beware.

I particularly loved hearing about the series of events that led to him being hired for What Not To Wear. It involved beseeching the Universe- and it worked! I also loved learning more about his family and upbringing and how he met his husband.

Kelly made me laugh out loud a couple of times. The essays are not completely linear and span a variety of topics. Overall, it was quite enjoyable. I hope he'll keep writing.

Disclosure: I was provided an ARC from NetGalley in exchange for an honest review.

This book had me laughing out loud several times. I have always enjoyed Kelly's on-air persona, and the glimpse he provides into his personal life cements that for me. There are some "Hollywood dirt" anecdotes in here, but most of the stories focus on friendships, relationships and being a dog owner (though I think the dog may own him). A quick read that I recommend for a day at the beach or pool. Just bring your short white bathing trunks.

4.5 Stars.

Ugh, Clinton, you could not be funnier!

Perhaps it's the nostalgia of being a forever fan of WNTW, or maybe it's just my love of sarcasm, wit, cattiness, mixed with a lil true heart- but I found this book to be a great read. Every single story was funny and entertaining. If you are a serious person who cannot take a joke- don't read this book. It's not for you & frankly I'm glad for that. Perhaps it was a little heartbreaking to hear his feelings on Stacey, but that's life and I really appreciate his candor and openness. I'll take honesty over niceties anytime.

Clinton, if you ever read this, please don't judge my grammar too hard. Also please actually make that sitcom, I'd watch it in a heartbeat.

I received this book as a Christmas gift, and I could not put it down once I started reading (just stopped so I could sleep a few hours lol).

The stories in the book are wonderful, gave me a wonderful insight on what made Clinton, Clinton, some were shocking, some were wow, some were so sweet, some hilarious (my family was worried I was going nutter for laughing so hard out loud so many times) but all full of hope and with a wonderful message behind them.

Uncle Clinty if you read this, this have given me another depth of the wonderful person you are, thank you for sharing your life stories with us (and Oh I am ever so glad you got your "second chance" with Damon, you two are very special and deserve the best!

My family and myself love you very much!

after his book tour i figured i'd give it a try. downloaded to Kindle from my library (via Overdrive) my immediate reaction: why is this guy soo angry? & so mean & snarky? did read it all the way thru just in case there was Something redeeming about it. that would be a no! what a waste of time! thank goodness I didn't pay for it!

don't waste your time or money.

This one is all over the place. With really not much of a point except getting small glimpses into his life. I don’t really recommend it, but it’s not horrible. A die hard fan will probably enjoy it more.

This book was incredible on so many levels. I've been a fan of Clinton Kelly for a while, and that definitely added to my appreciation of the book. Clinton has a remarkable ability to weave his less-than-favorite jobs and awkward pre-teen faux pas into a narrative that will have you laughing until you cry and knowing that nothing comes without hard work and a healthy dose of angst.

After closing the book, I couldn't help but feel as though I finished having a candid conversation with an old friend.

I adored this book, every last page of it. The author is one of those rare gems that posses equal parts intelligence, humanity and humor. I laughed, I related, I breathed in every word. It was like literary sustenance, and I'm only sorry I've gotten to the last page. I hope Mr. Kelly writes many more books.

I love Clinton Kelly, and I'm a big fan. Although I enjoyed most of the book, and I normally don't mind bad language, there were moments I felt like he went unnecessarily overboard. For example, I felt like his high school graduation speech written on the Clinton Kelly website was better than the one in the book. I do love that the book really invites you into his life, and I always find his grammar lessons enjoyable and hilarious. It's basically a less depressing and funnier version of Angella's Ashes.

Clinton Kelly provides us with glances into his life from childhood to adulthood in no particular order. The writing is good, whether sweet and sentimental, wry or sarcastic. I enjoyed reading this book. I looked forward to each chapter until, sadly, I reached the end.

Really? Who does he think he is? Clinton, I loved you on WNTW and I am a faithful Chew fan, but this pompous book!! WHAT??? WHY??? 2 stars for pretty good writing and a few laughs, but mostly a pathetic treatise on sleeping around and relentlessly trying to be urban chic. Did you have to mention your best friend's (former best friend's??) large butt?

I Love Clinton Kelly! I watch The Chew everyday religiously. I was so excited when I heard his book was coming out. This book is awful. I disliked every second of it. Clinton has a great sense of humor, I was really disappointed that this book wasn’t as funny and as great as I built it up to be in my head. Save you money.

Hilarious and honest. I laughed out loud so many times when I read this book. Clinton Kelly comes across as such a genuine, likable person. If you liked him on "What Not to Wear," you'll definitely enjoy this book.

I struggled to get through this book. While I did laugh out loud a few times, for the most part it became quite disappointing. I thought I loved Clinton Kelly and his outlook on life, but I think that’s just the “tv Clinton”. I’m not sure what he’s trying to prove.

Prima Donna; Snarky; no editing ... spelling was correct, but no form, all over the map; too much detail on silly thoughts. Biggest waste of my time! I liked Clinton until I read this and saw how petty and self-centered he is.

I did not expect this to be a homosexual book (yes it is homosexual and not gay because gay means happy and lighthearted and homosexuals are a far cry from happy and lighthearted). God made us male and female, and not some aberration of two sexes. I thought it should not have been pirnted.
