Great read from one of the first author's I started to follow many years ago. Her works of art only gets better. How can she have one hate the main character than slowly but surely love him at the end... smh... lol

Fast paced, well written and the passion is deep. This book shows forgiven and that love can conquer all. This is another book that I could not put down. I laughed, I got angry and it melted my heart. This book is too good to pass up.

Great Story line! I know people didn't like this book, but my advice is give the book a try. People are human, they make mistakes and Dare (the hero) makes mistakes but so do we all. And people still forgive us.
This book is a good read and worth your time. Give it a chance! Great story Eve Vaughn.

This book was a real page turner. There were a lit of sexy moments, and a lot of wtf moments. The hero is anything but a hero and is really hard to like. But overall, the this book gave me exactly what I have come to expect from Eve, a great story that's anything but the norm.

As stated by someone else giving a review this is totally different from what this author usually writes about. However her talent shines through.
I really enjoyed this book and I can't wait for the next one.

Run is a story about Dare O'Shaughnessy, who is one of the Elite rich class, who owns and is participating in "The Run" which is an event that the Elite class go after, capture and own a slave or Prey to do whatever they want for however they want for payment. The Prey also known as the Dregs (lower class of middle and lower income) people who are mistreated by the Elite on an every day basis. The Game they play was a government program that went defunct but was restarted by Dare's very evil and vile deceased father for financial gain and because he hated the Dregs. Dare usually does not participate in the game but he has found a Dreg he wants who is unwilling to be with him, Aya Smith, who works for her Uncle in his bar. Dare was raised by a thoroughly evil man who did hideous things to him during his childhood and also drilled viciousness and hate into him and encouraged him to treat all people but especially working class people abusively and demean them whenever possible. Dare definitely does not come off in the best light in this book and most of the time you are hoping karma bites him big time. Aya can be described as a beautiful dark skinned young lady, very petite, intelligent, loving, caring, has tremendous strength of will and daring. Dare is handsome, tall, very successful businessman, initially uncaring, unloving, selfish, snobbish, demeaning, and thinks highly of himself. A lot of the Elite participating in the games are definitely not mankind's best. Interesting story gives the reader pause.

I've been a long time fan of E.V. and really enjoy her more tortured characters. Dare is definitely that and I wasn't sure after his continued disregard for the lives of everyone around him if there was any way to redeem him.

Thankfully I wasn't disappointed.

The future is bleak for those who aren't blessed with means. If you're not one of the Elite your options are limited and for the women even more so. The story of Dare and Aya isn't pretty. It's brutal at times sadistic and as flawed as the people living it. Which is why I was impressed on how the author was able to make me find compassion in my heart for Dare when my first impression was "What an &*^$".

Vaughn created a believable world where the rich and evil use it as their personal playground.

This is a must read for science fiction fans and those who've been looking for something more. I can't wait to see what else Vaughn will come up and thanks for restoring my faith that the IR genre isn't lost.

I really didn't see any redeeming or loving connection with dare just because you reveal a terrible past childhood trauma doesn't make up for basically raping someone and treating them like property. I understand that was the time period but if I go through something like that I'm not going to love someone because they cuddle me and stop sleeping with me for a while. And the heroin acted like an idiot in beginning all I could think was okay so how did she not realize there would be consequences.

I liked RUN because it was different. It made me cringe at times, the deeper I got into it I loved it. The main characters you can love them or hate them. I really don't want to give any thing away. All I can say I was not disappointed. It was a very good read. I definitely would recommend it, if you are a fan of Eve Vaughn work.

I skipped to the end so I could tell everyone how much l HATED the male lead. The only thing worse than the male lead was the female lead. In a romance novel you expect love, and romance I found nothing similar to it in this case.

When i first read the Book Description i though "Hey this is going to be a good DYSTOPIA book." i was wrong. it is a little dystpia. with the run and how people are classed but it just remind me of 50 shades of grey. A knock of version. --Grey in 50 shades of grey--Dare in Run.
They were very similar in many things. Came from a bad background which lead to their life as it is now. Wanting one girl. Not taking no for an answer. The one girl (____Anastasia-Ana in 50 shades of grey_) Aya in Run. Both sighed up for something they didn't want.
But soon came to realize the loved the man. Even their names are similar. This was like a B movie- to a really good book. It was an ok read but i just couldn't stop comparing the two books together.
Would i recommend this. Maybe.

I bought this book because the heroine was supposed to be strong and what happens? After the hero (and I use that term losely since he was a complete jerk) ruined her life and almost had her uncle killed, he kisses her and she enjoys it. Where is her spirit and her fight? It made me so angry to read because I had expected some fight - not this doormat push-over.

I skipped pages and even chapters the last 2/3 of the book because it turned so boring when the heroine stopped fighting. And the hero's turn-around? That has to be the least believable I've ever read.

I had high hopes for this book, I'd hoped the heroine would teach the hero a real lesson. This was just silly. Oh, and if you read it for the sex - that part was very boring too!

This book is completely different from the other books that I have read by Eve Vaughn. I immediately fell in love with Aya because she's a heroine that we typically don't see. With, dark skin and a shaven head Aya already defies the normal standard of beauty. She's a young independent woman in a dystopian society where women are rare commidoty, and independence is not needed, wanted or appreciated. She is fiercely loyal and will do anything for the uncle that raised her and the only family she has remaining.
Dare is the egotioscal arrogant, devilishly handsome, hero who owns just about everything in their society. And in the true fashion of the rich, he pretty much feels entitle to whatever he want, So it was no surprised that when he first lays eyes on Aya that he wants her instantly. Too bad for him Aya isn't just going to sit around and be taken. Using all the tools in his power, Dare sets it up so that Aya has no choice but to enter the Run which goes against everything she stands for. However Aya never backs down from a challenge, especially when her uncle's life is dependant on it. Although she hates Dare with a passion, it doesn't stop her body from igniting at his every will and her hate fuels their passasion to a point where its almost destructive.
This book reminds me of the Hunger Game, but with mind blowing, knock down orgasms and I loved it.

Any human being subjected to this situation would absolutely never, ever react the way the h did. I want to kinda believe, at least a bit, yahoo know?

I have read quite a few fantasy books and this one just does not pull you in. No dimension to the characters, the run lasted a few moments and then... Really sorry but it was a pretty big fail.

Don't waste your money.

What lengths would you go to save the people that you love?

For Aya Smith, these lengths find her reluctantly entering herself into the annual “Run” where her biggest nightmares become reality.

Thrown into a dog eat dog world where weakness is not tolerated nor appreciated, Aya quickly learns that in order to survive here is to succumb herself to the monastic rule of a sinister force that has taken a fancy to her.

Who is he you may ask? Why is he is Dare O’Shaughnessy, the most dangerous and powerful man in this ominous world and owner of "The Run."

A man who, has his eyes on taming this defiant spitfire and bending her to his will...COMPLETELY and IRREVOCABLY...

Welcome to the world of The Run ladies and gentlemen, where the Elite rule and all those below them are disposable pawns at their bidding!!

A great start to this compelling series from author Eve Vaughn!! I will be staying on for bk 2, The Auction!! Sounds like even more trouble is brewing and it's up to our cast of lovelies to take down the big baddies!!

It's with a very heavy heart that I write this review because I'm a fan of Eve Vaughn. My favorite romances are the ones that have a kick butt, take-no-prisoners heroine; a heroine that refuses to bow down or be disrespected. And I am ALL about my Alpha males - yes!!!! A guy that wouldn't think twice about getting dirty or playing dirty but knows how to treat his lady! And I sooooo thought that I was going to get all those things with this story; however, I was so very wrong. I should have known to walk away from this book the moment I read the summary and was already irked by the heroine before it even concluded. Anytime there's a disconnect with the heroine right off the bat, the story is over for me.......unless it the hero is just that great that it makes me overlook her defaults. With all that said, I really didn't like this story.

First, the female irked me to no end. If you live in a world that is so divided between halves and halves not, and you know the enforcement system is beyond corrupt, AND you know that you and your family are just barely hanging on, why would you do such stupid things?????? Why??? And if you're going to sell yourself to help your family, why would you not ask for proof that said family is indeed okay, esp since it's the core reason that you're selling yourself? Why would you just accept the word of a man that you despise? A man that you don't trust? A man that did everything in his power to destroy you and your family until you had no choice but to submit to him??? Again, why would you take such a man at his word?

And I only have one word for the the male (I refuse to call him the "hero"): Rape. That was the first word that popped into my head over his actions. He was no alpha male: he was an outright freaking monster. You cannot tell me that the scene in the hotel room at the ball was not rape - she said no and she meant it. And her actions after it happened tells you that she meant it. He's lucky that Eve Vaughn wrote this story, because if it was me doing the writing, I would have made the heroine aim that gun at his head, and she wouldn't stop firing until every gun in that room was empty.

I'm sorry, but I just couldn't with this story. I was really expecting more - much more, esp after reading all the five star reviews. It's a complete letdown. The reason I'm giving this book a 3 star instead of anything lower is because Ms. Vaughn can certainly weave a story, and the writing is practically flawless. With that said, for only the second time in my entire review history, I'm going to tell you - the person reading this review- to take my review with a very small grain of salt. If 100 plus people gave this book 5 stars, I'm going to blame myself for not being able to spot the greatness and end it at that. Thanks.

A delicious dark read

This book took me by surprise. When I first started this book I did not know what I was really getting into. Once I started The Run it was really hard for me to put it down. It keep me invested in the story from the first page to the last. I wanted to know what was going to happen.
Aya is a great and strong heroine. She is very independent and loyal to her uncle who has raised her. She will do anything to help him out. She has grown up in a society where women are rare because of a drug that was supposed to prevent Breast Cancer but it ended up killing the people it was given to.
Dare is a character that you love to hate. He is an awesome alpha male. He does some really messed up things in the book that make you want to scream and yell while reading it. He thinks that everything should go his way. If you say no to him he will make sure that you are punished. He doesn’t take things well but you learn why he does things the way he does. Towards the end of the book I found myself liking him more and more.
Eve Vaughn did such a wonderful job with this story. I really liked all of the characters and the way to book was written. As I said before I could not put this book down it really blew me away. I enjoy darker books and this one was darker. Go and enter the Run and pick this book up. I highly recommend it.

MY REVIEW

Wow! I didn't know what to expect from this futuristic dystopian read and I was absolutely floored. This is a dark and erotic read that takes place in a bleak and grim future where everything is divided between the haves and the have nots. Dare is the biggest have at all. This is an sexy alpha man with power beyond imaginging. He is not afraid to use that power to get anything he wants. And he wants Aya. He is obsessed with the idea of having Aya in his bed and at his mercy. He is at times cruel and merciless but at the same time, Aya makes him feel as no other woman has ever. Aya is a have not, a "dreg" and she doesn't mix with the other half. Dare and Aya have a dark and twisted love/ hate relationship that is filled with sexual chemistry.

In this future world, 2/3 of all women have died from a breast cancer vaccine. Aya is desparate. She has nothing and needs to not only survive but to help her family. She signs up for the Run, which is a competition where the 'lower classes' are hunted down like animals. And once again Aya must do everything she can to survive while at the same time try to fight her attraction to Dare.

This is definitely not your normal hearts and flowers romance. This is a high octane read that will leave you breathless and shocked. A real page turner. I loved every minute of this unique and addictive read and constantly wondered where the author would take me next. Dare was so dominant and domineering but there was something very enigmatic about him. Something that drew you to his character. Aya- she was a no holds barred, take no prisoners kind of girl. Strong, brave, and smart. I loved this girl. And I loved the dark chemistry between her and Dare.

This is easily one of the most unusual books that I have read in quite a while. It was fascinating and I can't wait till the next book in this series.

5 out of 5 stars.

First let me say I love the premise of this book. When I read the synopsis I thought this is going to be something similar to the Hunger Games. You know a futuristic place and someone mainly women are chosen if not often forced to participate in a game of survival. Accept in this book Run would be more adult since the ultimate hunt is to use women for sex. And honestly this book is about that and so much more. We are introduced to Aya the main lead who is highly opinionated, and doesn't think much of herself. She is described as "exotic" i.e. dark features, doe like eyes, and a shaved head. I am thinking maybe having someone of a darker variety is a rarity in this town of a 3:1 ratio of men to women. But I digress. Aya disrespects one of the Elites in town but really is defending herself which leads her into a spiral of why she has to participate in the "Run." I will not give too much of the story a way but I will say that Aya being in the situation she is in doesn't help matters. I understand her being a strong character but there is a difference between strong and silly. Her mouth would get herself into situations and she is presented as so tough and in the same scene she gets misty eyed and wants to cry. This was so frustrating for her to be presented as someone who is unlike others and then seem so basic especially in her decision making processes. Dare the hero and main lead is the man who is the responsible for Aya's world falling apart around her. He is the strong, I don't take "no" for an answer and will destroy you type. But something about Aya pulls on Dare's humanity. Although Aya has no family and is destitute her body still sings the tune Dare plays. Good premise right? And it actually is but this story was so frustrating and inconsistent. Aya was very annoying and with all that happened to her family I don't understand how even though sex is a bodily function could give herself to Dare. Although Aya did reach her breaking point regarding her family issues and Dare that scene just wrapped up way to quickly and her anger died down as quickly as it came. As I was reading I was wondering how the author would make this a love story? Because let's face it Dare is a pompous jerk. I still didn't get the love aspect although the author did try to offer redemption but it just felt forced. I don't understand how women were a rareity in this book bit are treated as less than, murdered, and abuse. How does this help repopulate the society when the women are killed off or are cast off? There was limited transition from the "run" to the characters themselves. For instance Aya mentions that she doesn't know why she feels for Dare the way she does. As a reader I don't understand why she loves him either. There should have been a better set up for the couple's relationship instead of the old faithful cosmetic pull that characters seem to have on each other. The author does offer so break out characters like Macy and Forrester whose stories I wouldn't mind knowing more about. Although this story had a good premise the execution for me was not there. This story was just a 2.5 for me it lacked something and couldn't hold my interest. Just because this book wasn't my cup of tea doesn't mean that others will not enjoy it. Please judge this book for yourself and not based on this one review.

Eve is one of my favourite authors. Whatever He Wants was my favourite story by her because the hero James Rothschild was such a flawed man. However Dare in Run has moved to the number 1 spot for me!!!

This is Dare O’Shaughnessy and Aya Smith story. (BW/WM) Dare is a very flawed man with lots of issues and he has his sights set on Aya. Dare stops at nothing to get Aya in his life. He is totally ruthless in getting and dominating Aya. Aya has a temper and a lot to say for herself which ignites Dare passions! Dare mission is to break Aya. The story takes us on this journey of finding out what happens when Dare succeeds in his mission. When he finally reaches his goal the results are devastating to him and then love brings about his redemption!

I absolutely love, love this story! Every single page of it kept me on the edge of my seat to see what would happen between this couple. I found the story engrossing and a real page turner. Definitely a 5 star read. I would highly recommend this read! I cannot wait for the next book Auction to come out!

Run best described was gritty, intriguing and raw. Eve Vaughn has wrote a one of a kind plot that will suck you in till the last word. The synopsis is written well. However it does not give enough justice to describe how intense each character is.

They live in a time that each person would fear being a woman. All rights have went out the door. Middle class is non existent. The only people that matter are the upper class. The Dred's live in such poverty that each one is barely surviving.

The question is, can the upper class change and stop seeing the lower class as unnecessary group of things?

Aya and Dare will test that theory and despite all the vile things that occur, I can't imagine any reader would want the existing life style to continue till the end of the book. I wished for a change in how each characters life was before the beginning of the story.

I imagine the same for you.

Must read. My rating is a 4.5.

When I first saw Run being advertised a little while ago I knew that I had to read this one and Eve Vaughn delivered even more than I expected. Alasdair (Dare) O'Shauhnessay is an outrageously wealthy Elite who wants nothing less than the total domination of everyone and everything around him. With the amount of money and power he has acquired Dare definitely has the means to achieve almost anything that he wants. In a world where women are commodities and the divide between the wealthy Elite and the poor and struggling Dregs is near impossible to cross Dare and Aya are on very different ends of the socio-economc spectrum. Dare is able to literally dare anything he wants. Dare is able to have anything or anyone he wants and what he wants is Aya; by any means necessary.

Aya is a young woman who helps to run a modest bar with her uncle in the center of her Dreg community. Aya's intelligence, compassion, and passion has made her a proud member of her community, but her quick temper and minimal self control proves to be her downfall. Through a series of unfortunate encounters Aya is now on Dare's radar, A hasty and rash decision made in a moment of anger has now cost her everything that she holds dear. To save her uncle she is now forced to participate in the Run. The Run is the monthly hunt put on by a group of Elites where they are able to "hunt" women who have volunteered to be prey to the Elite who will then hold them as sex slaves for as long as they desire. Being tagged by a hunter means that you no longer have any say in how you are treated for an indefinite period of time. Each woman comes to the Run solely to be able to earn enough credits to take of themselves and their families. In the world created by Vaughn women no longer have a true means of supporting themselves financially and have to depend on men for their safety and well being.

I will admit that I couldn't see how Vaughn was going to bring me around to Dare's side, every move he made was cruel and selfish. I couldn't see any redeeming qualities in him at all. However, Vaughn managed to transform a cruel, arrogant, despicable man into someone that I wanted to get his happily ever after.Vaughn was able to reveal Dare's reasons for being who he is in a way that felt completely plausible. Taking Dare's character right to the edge of being unredeemable and then drawing the reader into his past was engrossing and I loved it! Making Aya strong but also flawed in her own right was another thing that made me enjoy this book so much. Some of Aya's decisions weren't the smartest at times, but she fought to maintain her compassion, dignity and self worth in even the most dire of circumstances.

Run has plenty of very descriptive sex as well. I think it is worth mentioning that there is a sex scene with breath play. Breath play is a bit outside of my comfort zone and I wasn't sure where the story was going from there, but it wasn't necessarily gratuitous and did make sense to the scene that it played out in. However if you are squeamish about that type of sexual encounter at least you have been properly warned. The relationship between Aya and Dare is not a courtship. Their relationship is based on coerced consent so don't expect romance or even seduction between Dare and Aya, In Run Vaughn created an engrossing world populated with interesting and complex characters. There is definitely some social commentary being stated in this one, but since I pretty much agree with what's being pointed out, I was more than okay with that. I won't go into what it is, it's pretty obvious and it can't be missed. I am very much looking forward to reading book 2, The Auction, that will be coming out in 2015.

Now this is an interesting book. Imagine, if you can, a cross between Hunger Games and Fifty Shades of Grey, and you might come close to something like Run in your mind.

I loved it! It takes place in a dystopian future where 2/3 of the women in the world had been killed by an untested breast cancer vaccination. Since then the world has been split, even more than it is now, by those who have and those who have not. Those who have, like Dare O'Shaughnessy, look down on those who don't, such as Aya Smith. They see them as "dregs", beneath their notice.

The "dregs" have to do what they can to survive, and sometimes that includes having their women "volunteering" for a competition called The Run, where the women are paid to be hunted down like animals, and captured by those who have. They are then used however they want by their captors, until they tire of them and are discarded, possibly to "volunteer" for another chance in The Run.

Now if this sounds rather dark, that's because it is. However, in the midst of this terrible world scenario, could a relationship bloom between Dare and Aya, something Dare can hardly contemplate as a possibility. How could he possibly care for a "dreg" like Aya? Especially after he destroys everything she holds dear?

But how long can Aya deny the way this evil man makes her passions soar, even as she hates him for everything he's done to her and those she cares about?

This is not your normal erotic romance, but if you want something a bit different, and if you're not afraid of a little dark in your stories, then this might be right up your alley. This is definitely an over 18 book, as the sex scenes are very graphic, and very adult themes are covered, such as sexual slavery and rape.

Run feels like a complete novel, not much of a cliffhanger here, but there is a sequel coming out in 2015 called The Auction which sounds really good. The background for it was setup in Run. I don't really know what The Auction is all about, but I bet rat-face is involved somehow. I can't wait to find out.

Get this book!

This book is a very dark, dystopian society that has some very messed up ideas on how to treat different classes of individuals. It is very much a world where if you have money you can have anything you want and if you don’t have money then you are no better than dirt.
Dare O’Shaughnessy is a perfect example of a man with money, who does not believe in the word NO!!! If he wants something than he gets it, no questions asked. He has met his match in Aya.
Aya has led a difficult life with losing her mother, but her Uncle Arthur does everything in his power to keep her safe and away from men like Dare O’Shaughnessy. But the day Dare sets his eyes on Aya is the day that a plan is set into place that is going to change everyone’s life forever.
Aya is a strong minded independent girl that loves with all her heart. It is amazing the strength and determination that she shows even when she is at her lowest point. Even when they are trying to break her spirit she is still able to hold on to a piece of herself deep within that no one can touch.
This book has some very dark tones to it that at times can be very emotionally hard to read. But the overall theme of the book is one of love and being able to find forgiveness.
Eve you have written a story that captures its reader with the dark and disturbing story of what it takes to survive in this messed up society. We are shown and reminded that anyone can make a difference and cause a change, it doesn’t matter what class you are from because when it comes down to it we are all from the same human race.

I really liked the setting of this book. It was different and the men were all kinda cavemen type. This was my first book by book author but her writing was good and the characters had good depth. Aya was a tough cookie and I loved her fight. Dare was a huge jerk but you can't help but admire him.

There was some Parts where I felt all the inner dialogue was too drawn out but it didn't take away from the whole experience. This book isn't going to be for everyone but I love darker reads so I really liked it. I plan to read more from this author. 4 stars #2OCCJD

WOW! This book was surprising and mind blowing.....I love dark romances and this is one of the most interesting ones I have read. Aya is a woman who is trying to survive in a futuristic world where women have lost most of their rights and have become a commodity to be sold. Aya is unfortunate to have caught the attention of Dare, a rich and powerful man who is feared by most of his social circle, Dare wants Aya and stops at nothing to get her. I loved Aya sense of right and wrong, how she will fight for what she believes in and will do anything for the people she loves. Dare was a rude, inconsiderate man who does not care about anything or anyone. The chemistry between these two totally opposite characters was off-the-charts amazing! I found myself drawn into Aya's journey from page one and traveled with her on her roller coaster journey of saving herself and her family. I loved how the author slowly revealed the story of why Dare is the cold man that he is. I am now really looking forward to the next book in this futuristic world. A warning: there are some very intense scenes in this romance that could disturb some readers but this is a very good book that I am sure most will love!

Captivating, intriguing, never a dull moment… yes, using all those words does describe this book. However, it goes deeper than the average "buzzwords." In many ways it shows you the depravity of humans and how well we treat one another and I use the word "well" loosely. This book is not for someone who is looking for their basic love story. If you don't mind a story with a lot of edge, then this is the book for you. Enjoy!

I really wanted to like this story, really, really did but I just couldn’t connect to it. I struggled writing this review because I don’t want to come across like I hated or even disliked the story, it just wasn’t for me.

This book had me slightly boggled despite its creative plotline it just didn’t all make sense to me. So the story takes place in a dystopian future where the men outnumber the women. In a very cavemen like fashion; men have resulted to a game called the Run in which women of lower standings, almost always from the class known as the Dregs “volunteer” to participate in a hunting game of sorts in which they are stark naked and avoiding capture by one of a number of “suitors”. You may be wondering about the quotations, well the women don’t really volunteer they almost don’t have a choice. Being from the lower class; food, shelter, and funds are scarce and in order to provide for their families they have to sacrifice themselves to the Run. And the so-called suitors are really elite a-holes who mainly like to dominate, torture and enslave the women they capture until they are bored with them.

In this book we are introduced to Dare our male lead who is also the owner/head of the Run enterprise and a very wealthy member of the Elite Class. He is the man you don’t say no to, EVER. Our female protagonist is Aya. A feisty, tough, little rocket who doesn’t take crap from anyone no matter how high up and almighty they think they are. When Dare sets his sights on Aya he does everything in his power to destroy her life and make her desperate enough to join the Run. And she does which puts her right in Dare’s possessive predatory hands. But when Dare finally has Aya what he thought would be another conquest ends up changing both his mind and his heart. Sounds awesome so far right? I thought so too, but it didn’t work out as I hoped. Here is why.

1.If the world is in dire straits; men outnumbering women where is the concern in procreating, there is no mention of this in the book and though it may not be important to the actually plot, it would kind of make sense to at least mention. Are all the Dreg women just going to be beat, killed, or just die of ill-health. What happens then?
2.Dare is a straight up jack-a$$ for most of the novel and I think it was overkill. I disliked him so much during the majority of the novel that when his heart changed and he attempted acts of redemption I couldn’t feel any sympathy for him. I think Vaughn almost did too good of a job making him a villain that it was hard to like him later on. I understood how Dare had a brutal childhood but I just couldn’t get past the degrading acts he imposed on Aya and the lack of empathy he had for anyone.
3.Aya was my heroine for the first part of the novel, she gave me someone to root for but then when Dare changed, she did as well. I felt she almost broke or succumbed too easy. For being such a spitfire I wanted more fight from her.
4.Dare and Aya, there was not enough good relationship building between them. Everything remotely positive was involving there intense and steamy sex life. Which is definitely hot and spicy but that’s it. They barely speak to each other on an emotional level or learn much about each other which makes their falling in love kind of hard to believe. Everything seems purely physical between them.
5.Foster! I loved Foster, we needed more of him. He was the better man in the story. He was the complicated character that participated in his Elite class practices but deep down despised it.

Overall this was not a bad read, the story is creative and different. The writing flows well. It has a little of everything; sci-fi, suspense, drama, romance, and some heavy erotic flare that will satisfy the genre taste buds of many readers. The problem for me was connecting to the characters, the story and just believing in it. I believe Vaughn has an immense imagination with the world she created in this book and a tenacity to make you cringe while you are reading but still maintain being hooked to the story. This book had a lot of potential and despite my qualms with the story I still found myself interested enough to want to read it till the end.

I read quite a few different genres but this is a completely different read for me. Before reading this the word dystopian would have put me off as it's not a genre I'd choose to read. However I jumped into this blind and shocked the pants off myself.

I was going to give a quick synopsis but I'm not going to. The description of the book is enough to whet your appetite. If you like dark, gritty and erotic then this is the read for you.

I really loved this story. It was hard to put down and as soon as I got up this morning I was reading the last few chapters.

I'm now gonna go process what I've read and then coax my book buddy to one click this book. Should be interesting as her taste in books is like mine:) then I'm off to look at other dark dystopian reads.... Did I really write that? Never thought I'd see the day lol
Thank you Eve for corrupting me and broadening my reading:)

RUN is latest release from Eve Vaughn. This book is a departure from her normal stories as it has more of a dark edge but it doesn't go too far.

RUN is set in a post-apocalyptic world so for sci-fi/futuristic fans like me, the setting was perfect. Here you will find the Elites and the Dregs. These two sets of people don’t mix so well, especially if a Dreg is somewhere they don't belong. This is what happens to the heroine, Aya. This event sets in motion a chain of events where she has all of her choices except one removed. I can’t really say more without giving it away. You’ll have to read it.

Aya is the heroine. She is strong, proud, loyal, generous, beautiful and a Dreg.
Dare is the hero/anti-hero. He is strong, proud, self-absorbed, entitled, handsome and an Elite.

What do you get when you put these two together? FIRE! I really enjoyed this book and recommend it to you.

Congratulations Ms. Vaughn on your well written, well thought out book!

Oh my gosh I could not get enough of Dare. He was freaking hot dominant and amazing. Aya is our sexy self conscious heroine who takes no bull from anyone so when she crosses Dare. It is like two worlds collide. Dare tries his hardest to break her will, while At a does her best to maintain her sanity and keep herself from falling for this man. The sex is scorching ,flaming hot you will love every minute of this book. Dare maybe a complete ass but you will l love to hate him. This is the first book I have read from eve vaughn and I hope to read more in this similar fashion. This book is a cross of sci-fi with sexy dark themes. Yummy

Loved it! Dare wants what he wants and he wanted Aya. Strong alpha male that had a horrible childhood that lead to him being almost crazy to a point. Aya was strong and stubborn and had no intentions of letting anyone break her spirit, but she would do anything to make sure her Uncle who had raised her not lose his business. Unfortunately she had no options but to do the Run, since Dare took their livelihood from them.

Loved the futuristic setting and the characters. Eve did a wonderful job with this story, I strongly recommend it!!

This was an odd story, the circumstances made it a very unlikely setting to fall in love. The problem for me is that the characters were underdeveloped. The MCs had very little interaction beyond the bedroom so it is not clear why they fall in love--especially on the female's end. The man destroyed her life, hurt her only family and isolated and tortured her. Plus he was cold, absent, hard to everyone in his life and carried some heavy mentally/emotionally damage. It seemed the MC forgot and forgave all that because he 'put it on her'. That is weak to me. I was not impressed or intrigued by him and he downed Aya's flame. This story just not...not..appetizing.

This book was absolutely amazing! I loved every single part of it. Dare is a great anti-hero. I mean you really hate this guy and I thought there was no way that Eve Vaughn could possibly make you root for him. But amazingly, SHE DOES!! His background was brutal and I know we're all adults and make our own choices, but you could clearly see how the relationship with his father negatively affected his life. Aya is the heroine that you love. She is strong, likeable and has a good heart. She does everything to help support her Uncle Arthur who has taken care of her since the death of her mother. She would do anything to escape a life of poverty and having to participate in The Run Eve Vaughn shows us a world that isn't so hard to imagine considering the economic disparity in this country today. I could totally see this society and that made me anxious. So kudos to her for even taking me there emotionally. I know there is a sequel coming for this and I can't wait. This book is dark, so if you're not willing to go there emotionally, it might be hard to take. But if you like big risks with BIG REWARD then BUY THIS BOOK IMMEDIATELY. You won't regret it.

Thank you Ms Vaughn for continuing to restore my faith in the multicultural genre.Talk about CREATIVITY !!! WOW !!! I was perusing the list of books that I wanted to purchase in the Multicultural genre and unfortunately all the storylines seemed the same im; , sex, sex and more sex without any plots....SMH .....even worse books of 50-80 pages that are really prevalent. What ever happened to FULL LENGTHS BOOKS ? End of little rant lol.
Anyways, imagine my delight when I stumbled across this book ? I would also like to add that Mrs Vaughn is ONE of the BEST authors in this genre and I am glad that she didn't lose her touch. I have read MOST of her books and they all rank as some of the best I have read in this genre.
Anyways, this book was really interesting and creative imo; They are a couple of scenes that may offend some people (I have seen some reviews ) but I think that given the context of the story it/the time frame, those scenes were fitting. I also appreciate the fact that she spends her time developing her characters . There was one scene towards the end that broke my heart and where I got a bit emotional....I wont reveal which one but all I am going to say is that give a chance on this book and I promise you that you will be in for a rollercoaster full of emotions.

Enjoyable read.
Be warned, dubious consent in this story, but the characters mature at a believable pace for all that takes place.
There are editing errors and while slightly distracting, the story is engaging enough to carry you through.
I am looking forward to the next book (although this story is stand alone).

Aya is from some time in the future when women have few rights and society has fractured into the haves and the have notes. Though she and her uncle are definitely from the latter, they get by pretty well running a well respected bar. All that comes crashing down when Dare, one of the richest men in the country, sets his sights on her. She turns his arrogant advances down an he responds by methodically destroying her life and forcing her into his waiting arms.
This story is somewhat dark, in that it portrays a society where women have few choices and often end up in situations of abuse. Aya is a strong, intelligent heroine and Dare, though he starts the story being completely hateful, his growing love for Aya brings his behavior full circle to being truly loving and reformed.
