This is one of the better Pete the Cat storylines. And my son LOVES robots. The stickers are really nice. The only negative is that I wish they would have put shapes on the pages for where to put the stickers. My son who is almost 5 would love that and would enjoy finding and matching the stickers. As it is, with stickers that you can just put anywhere, he just sticks them one on top of the other which makes a "stack" of stickers on one page - he doesn't really "get" how to use stickers free-form.

The kids loved this book... just like they love all Pete the Cat books. It's a little longer than I would have liked for the age that I was reading to (3 and 5)... but they did well with it. The story is a little different than most kids books so perhaps that's why the kids liked it. We have a huge collection of books and for some reason the kids like the Pete the Cat ones so we have almost all of them now. This is one that is worth buying!

The story seems like just a bunch of random stuff thrown into a children's book. Ther is no linear story line to follow. The illustrations are average at best, and the random events don't add up to the moral of the story about spending time with friends. This is not our first Pete the Cat book, but it is definitely the most disappointing one.

When Pete the Cat books first came out, we absolutely fell in love with them. They were clever, original, cute, funny and endearing. After the first 4 or 5 large, hardcover books the Pete the Cat franchise went downhill. We've tried reading them, and to be honest we bought quite a few, but none of the newer books have the same charm and character of the original large hardcovers.

In this book Pete wants to play with his friends but they're all busy. He decides to build a robot so he can have someone to play with whenever he wants. The problem is, the robot is better, faster and smarter at everything they try to do. In the end he goes back to his friends because they're more fun.

The problem with this book is the problem I have with so many of the newer Pete books - they're not clever or funny. They feel rushed and unexciting...like they want to publish it as quickly as possibly to sell copies.

I love love love the original Pete. But the latest books are not up to that standard.
