My husband Greg got me hooked on science fiction years ago, but I like a good love story too. This has it all! Saxon has a great imagination, from the powers the main characters have, to the spectacular space battles. I'm hooked. Greg has moved all the Annihilation series to my Kindle so I can read them one after another. What an enjoyable, entertaining read.

this book was geared more towards a teenager than a adult. this book reminded me of the old B movies. i just could not get into this book and i read 3 chapters then just put it down. this book really did not make me want to read more. i would pass on this series, i know i will.

There are some very interesting concepts in this novel - but I feel it is marred by an amount of naïveté.

The exposition is very 'expositional' (is that a word?) - and the dialogue is somewhat forced. When I got to "will you marry me so we can spend the rest of our lives together" - I had to put the book down.

I notice that this book was written some time ago - maybe the writer has matured a little since then... I'll take a look at some other works to see!

This book is just stupid!

**Spoiler**
Here is our "hero", a normal guy, well, with mental powers, chased by the goverment that want to execute him. And when the finally catch him the want to make him leader of the world - just like that....
And on the moon, in a cave (ofc. in a cave...) he tumble over an ancient spaceship - which is in hibernation and he wakes it - fair enough :)
But the ship, just out of nothing, grant him a shield so nothing, i mean nothing, can harm him and a gun that can kill everything and everybody, everytime, everywhere....

The earth is attacked by the mighty evil alliance - suddenly our hero is a strategically mastermind with a lot of military knowledge - only the author know from where, becouse he dont tell us... He have friend that is leading the newborn marines, becouse the human race have been peacefull for several centuries and that friend is fighting a loosing battle, with hes leg broken 4 places etc. etc., but refuses to get treatment, tell the medic to, ohh crap, you know the rest.....

Suddenly our "hero" see they are loosing the battle, and he arrives on the scene, take the full barrage from the 4000 enemy solider and there heavy artillery, but he have hes SHIELD! so no damage, at all, whatsoever. And he fire hes magic gun (which is a part of hes hand, when he think "gun"...) and kill most of the alien army..

For some stupid reason i actually bought book 2 - and i feel ashamed...
In book two the are taking the battle to the enemy (ohh, i forgot, the human fleet also have super-shield, gee, surprise!) and at the first talk, the enemy, which have killed MANY human, suddenly is an trusted ally - i mean, the talk like 5 min, come on!!

I have read a *lot* of Sci-Fi books, i have also read a lot of them that is a little off, but i really cant remember anything as bad this is.
Its a shame, becouse the first part of the book actually were allright - but the last part of the book ruined EVERYTHING - and book 2 is the same crap.

And last, sorry for my english - my main language is danish.

Last, go read Omega Force ;)

I was captivated by the initial chapter and absolutely enthralled to the series upon completion of the last chapter. A hard yard stick to measure other space opera genre stories by; but hard to argue with simple old fashion story telling.

I had never heard of this author before Thanksgiving when I had a chance to meet and talk to him. I ordered book 1 of the series and couldn't put it down. I was drawn right into the action. I just ordered books 1&2 and can't wait to get into the action once again.

I read the first two books in the creation series by Saxon Andrew and became a Saxon Andres fan. I wish I had read this series first because of the way the time line flows but I still very much enjoyed the Creation series and look forward to more. And I have also enjoyed this series I am currently on the last book and will be sad when I run out of Saxon Andrew's books to read.

I kept hearing good things about this series, but I rarely read SF and the name, Annihilation, scared me away. I'm a closet Trekkie, but hate those futuristic movies where civilization is gone and they are only producing 15 watt light bulbs and faulty plumbing. But when the book went free, I took the opportunity to try it.

I'm so glad I did. I enjoyed the characters, especially Tag, immensely. I like the way the book begins at almost an elementary level, where we meet Tag as a child, and then builds in complexity as he grows. It never gets pedantic, though, always just telling the story. And what a story - a classic fairy tale. I can see why readers are always impatient for the next book in the series to see what happened next.

This first book of the seven book series is excellent. The subsequent books just get progressively redundant as the shift to psychic abilities becomes the main theme. This in and of itself becomes boring and predictable.

After reading the first few pages of book seven I returned it for a refund. enough was enough, "once again double the psychic ability". This ongoing theme becomes all encompassing.

The series itself loses credibility with me when individuals create new universes, star ships have offspring, etc.

As mentioned this first book is very good, the rest well they get just too ridiculous.

There are a couple of interesting ideas, granted, but the style is really that of a school primer, the characters are so shallow that qualifying them as two-dimensional would suggest too much depth. It is time the store clearly labelled children's literature for what it is; doing so would spare authors mortifying comments and customers a waste of good money.

I was very disappointed by this book. The characters are poorly developed and unbelievable on just about any level. The dialog is like it was written for someone, and by someone, still in middle school. I'll never consider another Saxon Andrew novel.

I have to agree with the other reviewers that gave 3 stars or less. The overall story idea is good, however the writing could use alot of polish. I felt it read like fan fiction written by a middle school student for their webpage. I've read the first two books and just started the third. In the first two books it was constantly the Humans win, oh the Humans win again. The tables were never turned, the Alliance never was able to deal a reversal to the Humans. I understood that the technology was of alien origin and in advance of the "enemy" but it seemed like there was always a new superweapon every few chapters. It was also difficult to follow the story at times because the paragraphs seemed to run into one another. You would be reading about the Human side of the story and then in the next paragraph you flipped to the Alliance side with no apparent break. Now I have the Kindle editions so I don't know if this is how the books were printed or something went awry when they downloaded them to the Kindle system. There also was alot of, what seemed to me to be, unnecessary or awkward writing. Why use 10 words when 5 will do? It didn't seem accurate to the way people would actually speak. Author needs a thesaursus. Again overall a good story but the author needs, in additon to more writing experience, a better editor and proofreader.

The first book reads rather well. Why the most recent reviews are all one star and negative... Well, some folks are just jerks. Also, they're all part of the same little club and hate the author for some reason. Regardless of personal motives on the part of some children, the first book is well written. Especially if it's the first book he's written.

Yes, Asimov was better, but this book has a good story and is easily and clearly readable. Don't let the kids fool you; it's definitely worth the read.

There will always be idiots that want to attack the success of others. To them, I say this, "Grow up."

This is a good, fast pacing book with several unexpected twists. Some may say that the author uses too much "deus ex machina" solutions, or that the main character is too much naive and not very sophisticated, but it goes well with the story. I am thinking about purchasing the sequel once I finish other books I am reading now...

I enjoyed this entire series (7 books). I agree the story does get close to "jumping the shark" but it is fun. It's good clean fun--someting I can share with my teenagers as a fun romp. The book and series is lite reading, but I found I couldn't put them down.

The books become predictable, but that is part of the fun. Good guys win, plans always work, and family is important.

I enjoyed them.

Best of all, these books represent what I like about the Kindle. It offers the ability for normal folks to write thoe story they've always wanted to read. Is it Isaac Asimov? No. Is it Jerry Pournelle? No. Fun? Yes.

I was just scrolling through various sic-fi titles when I came across the book. It kept me engrossed from start to finish with it's very relaxed style. If I have one complaint it's that paragraphs run into each other, one of the reasons I rated this a 4 rather than a 5. I look forward to reading the next instalment in the series

I would have enjoyed this series more, if it were not for the misspellings, poor word choices, bad grammar, poor construction, and abrupt changes in POV. It is jarring, and annoying to have to stop and re-read a sentence several times, to understand it correctly.

Every work needs an editor. I am not the only one who thinks that yours does. Listen to us, please!

At first I thought this author would be recognized enough for such a wonderful series that yet another review wasn't needed. I see a few that are less than stellar and don't give the full import of this book and the series that follow it.

I found this and the books that followed one the most incredible series I've read in decades.

When I stumbled across your first book last fall I had nearly given up finding a good book series to read. Everyone had such bleak futures, or stunted ones, where they took the technology only so far, ignoring it when it wasn't needed to solve a plot point.

Here I found big ideas, a scale that goes from planetary to eventually universes, and I do mean that in the plural, along with a wonderful message of brighter futures that the majority of science fiction lack.

It is true a story needs conflict and that's provided, but its not an anchor weighing the setting down. A problem arises and there are some pretty big and seemingly hopeless ones that come up, however once overcome (and not necessarily without struggle) its not default back to where they were in the beginning, the author takes it up another notch. The quality of life in the universe improves.

By the end of this series whole universes are journeyed to. Planet destroying weapons are flung about nearly as standard arms, teleportation is from one galaxy to another is common place, yet in all of that, the message that each life is valued comes through strongly.

Granted, when something wrong needs to be taken care of, it is. Evil, or 'just' the bad guys aren't just given a slap on the wrist and told behave. When 'grump', as the heroes say, needs kicking, its kicked and hard.

The cast of characters grows as the series grows not just from friends and allies to begin with, and sometime its a case of enemies who become friends. This aspect reminded me of the promise of the 60s and 70s, where we were just coming to grips with racial tensions and learning to get along. Where 'I have a Dream' floated before us as a desirable future.

Bright setting, great message, exciting action from personal to ship-to-ship and fleet-to-fleet as well as an incredible scale of the setting has made this a book series I've ready over and over again since I first found it in the fall and even now take a break to read a chapter or two like revisiting old friends or feel-good scenes (some of them some great action ones too).

This is a series I will be re-reading for years to come.

Saxon Andrew has created an entertaining and action packed universe that is spread over a series that refuses to stop. The battles are massive and the back-plot just keeps increasing in details and complexity. If you're unsure whether to buy simply download the free sample and see what you think. The book is well written, a decent length and contains a plethora of believable characters. How can you argue about a series with Annihilation in the title?

Aliens, psychic powers and epic battles that take place throughout the stars. Go get it!

My first Kindle book and I picked a winner. This was a fantastic Sci-Fi story! I have not read many Sci-Fi books but this one has hooked me. The story line is brilliant, vivid and interesting. As I read it, I found myself imaging that I was part of the story. I loved always being just one step ahead of the bad guys. Just finished this one and have bought the next 2 books. A most enjoyable read!

As a sucker for space operas, the concept of this series intrigues me. Huge alien alliance. Dystopian Earth. Character with superhuman abilities. I fall for it every time. However, I just could not get past the dialog, particularly the interior monologues.

Using quotations for a character's thought is not only annoying but entirely unnecessary. The book is already written in 3rd person and seems to be omniscient, knowing the thoughts and feelings of everyone. Nearly all of the internal thought "bubbles" in this book could easily be taken care of by simple narrative. In fact, many of these quoted thoughts are redundant as the narrative already helps the reader reach the conclusion the quote is making. The only thing the quotes do is add confusion (is this dialog or a thought?) and pull me out of the current paragraph.

I highly recommend the author not use quotes for thoughts and perhaps even go back and edit these books. I think he will find the quoted thoughts superfluous.

Secondly, the dialog overall is not really how people speak. It conveys too much information that characters would already know and probably would not say to each other.

Horrible, horrible dialog. Star Trek type aliens that act human, except for the extra arm or two. A plot that actually depends on deus ex machina. Space battles that read like mathmematical word problems. Sketchy, sketchy science. I can't remember reading a worse book.

I gave it two stars only because most of the words are spelled correctly.

Danger Will Robinson! Well, maybe not. Will would probably like it because he's the right demographic for it - preadolescent. I gave it two stars solely because there is actually an audience for this juvenile fairy tale. If you're older than 10, don't buy it.

First off congratulations to the author for having the ambition to write and finish a book. Now for the bad part.
Good dialog paints a verbal image of place and mood and helps portray the motivation and attitudes of the characters in the story. Unfortunately all of the dialog in the book is stiff, artificial and sadly amateurish. As an aside, the author should have a conversation with an actual seven year old child to get a better understanding of the way children speak.
The plot suffers from the same malady, amateurish and ultimately not even slightly believable. Boy develops super powers and then finds the remains of the super aliens and uses those super powers and super alien tech to defeat the super evil aliens out to destroy earth. How sad.
I gave it two stars for the effort only, but I won't be purchasing the other books in the series.

I like "B" movies. I love cheesy, stupid dialogue. I like the low-budget movies where you can see the strings on the puppet monsters and the wheels underneath them to push them around. I'm a sucker for really dumb movies and books. So when I purchased this book, I knew what I was in for. Come on. Read the prologue. "Totally destroying"...??? Tells you everything you need to know about this author's writing skill.

I mean, even the title is completely absurd. Total annihilation: love conquers all...?!? I think total annihilation would conquer love every time....

So lets just admit, he's a terrible writer and the book is cheesy. If you like that, buy it and have a great laugh.

So I knew what I was in for when I bought this, but still couldn't finish it. The writing just kept making me dumber.

However, I chose to give this book 1 star because it is obvious there is a campaign afoot with this book to squash honest reviews and elevate it with false reviews.

In other words, instead of the author taking objective criticism and learning to be a better writer, he is bent (instead) of squashing anyone who would hurt the sales of his terrible book by recruiting others (family? Friends?) to game the reviews and post ridiculous 5 star reviews.

True authors love their craft, not their sales. Money comes from a well crafted novel, not from manipulation of reviews.

So now you know. Lets see how many people try to squash this review. Happy reading.

I really wanted to like this book. It starts with a good premise and ideas, but the author just fails horribly. The dialogue is painful. It jumps from character narration without a break between chapters or even paragraphs. I know it's supposed to be "fast paced" but the storyline gaps and holes are so huge I sunk in them.

While reading the sometimes repetitive descriptions I kept wondering if this was a Junior High Sci Fi story. In addition, there was stereotypical teen romance theme, a universe full of blue meanies and not a lot of substance.
