The Awful Mess: A Love Story

Though parts of the story are frightening this love story leaves you with bated breath as you turn the pages and stay up way too latte to read another chapter. Gut wrest aching excitement and a message of faith in hometown. People.

Hutchison has created main characters who are thoroughly relatable and likeable, people who are all too human, while, at the same time, give off sparks of the divine. I read the book almost straight through and enjoyed it immensely. Maybe if I tell you that I read part of the book while visiting the E.R. for an illness, you'll be convinced that this is an un-put-downable read! Loved it, and can't wait for the next one!

Sometimes it was repetitive with descriptions of the main characters feelings. I got tired of her second guessing everything anyone tired to do for her or help her. Finally started skipping over parts of it.

This love story has several turns that many can identify with. Disappointments, excitement and human vulnerability--some very real and some more idealistic. A very well written novel. You will enjoy it.

I enjoyed this story immensely. I loved the characters and the way they interacted in such a believable way. I would recommend this book to anyone who is tired of the typical love story and would like to read a book with a fresh approach.

I almost put it down after the first few chapters as the story was a little slow developing. Then there was one significant moment (I won't tell) that brought the story to life and I finished it in one sitting. It was a surprisingly good read. I will definitely read more books from this author.

I enjoyed the book. I almost stopped reading it when Mary slept with the married priest, but kept on and enjoyed the book. I especially liked the character Winslow. I'm looking forward to your next book!
