I really enjoyed reading about the Maribel sisters in the Dominican Republic. I led the book discussion for my monthly book club on this book so I had to do a little research for it after I finished reading it which made me appreciate it even more. It was fun learning a little about the history of the Dominican Republic. I recommend to anyone who loves historical fiction.

The story of the Mirabal sisters during the time of the Trujillo regime in the Dominican Republic, this is a fictionalized tale of their daily lives with some historical content woven in. The sisters spoke out against the dictator's policies and three of the four women were imprisoned and ultimately paid with their lives.

This is an excellent piece of literature! I enjoyed every aspect of it. I am currently rereading and listining to the audiobook. It was in excellent condition and arrived promptly after it was ordered.

It's amazing that the central events of the story are really true. I can't even imagine their bravery. Couldn't put the book down once I started reading it. And afterward, I spent several days looking up the Mirabals, Trujillo, the geography of the Dominican Republic, etc. on the web. If I could give the book 4 1/2 stars, I would.

The first time I heard about the Maribal sisters, I wanted to know more. The women should go down in history as the heroes they were. This book is a novel, based on real life events. I wished the author had focused entirely on the facts. I would recommended as a nice read.

Heartful and heartbreaking, but a great book for learning about the terrible Trujillo dictatorship in Dominican Republic. I loved the intimacy of learning about each Miribal sister through their point of view.

The tapes were adequate, but language was somewhat slow. The storage case appeared very much used. Since this is only available audio format without subscribing to Audible, I would purchase it again if I had to.
