The author is an obvious strict vegetarian & vegan. My wife & i are healthy & fit omnivores, so we don't usually take side on what people put on their plate. That said, it was almost offensive how the author shoves her organic idealism in your face through her words.
If you want a good read about food backed by science, history, & peers, then check out "Death by Food Pyramid: How Shoddy Science, Sketchy Politics and Shady Special Interests Have Ruined Our Health" by Denise Minger.
Also, check out Showtime's Penn & Teller: BS! - Season 7, Episode 6 "Organic Food" for some humorous yet hard hitting jabs aimed at the organic food industry.

This is one of most important and interesting books for pregnant women to read to assure a healthy pregnancy, birth and baby. It is easy to read and has many delicious, nutritious recipes that I've been enjoying. I recommend this book to all the Moms in my HypnoBirthing Childbirth class and anyone wanting to be healthier in general. Alisha Tamburri, Childbirth Educator/Birth Doula, hypnotherapist

Eating healthy while growing a human is extremely difficult. We loved all the recipes we tried out of here, and my wife really appreciated the additional pregnancy information, particularly the milestone parts. It also gave great snack ideas since my wife didn't really eat meals once she hit about 20 weeks and just did a lot of snacking.

This book is absolutely full of information. I tend to prefer a lighter tone, maybe some humor. This book doesn't have that, BUT I find I'm using it a ton. The first half is full of information on vitamins and minerals, nutritional needs and tips like breastmilk supply and FDA labeling. Sounds boring...but actually I'm SO glad to have this! It's overwhelming how much information there is out there for healthy eating when pregnant. Don't eat this, do eat that..and it always changes. I feel like this book does a great job of giving you the basics. The relevant information you need, so you can make your own decisions and read labels or make food decisions based on the knowledge you now have. Super excited about the recipes and food for milk production too! The second half is all recipes! Super simple and delicious recipes!! This would be an awesome gift for a pregnant friend or family member. Really though, if you are expecting or hope to be..this is an awesome book to start eating right and learning about healthy eating for baby.

Eating healthy is important at any time but most important when you are pregnant.

This book seems to be a great resource with information and recipes for each trimester of your pregnancy.

I received a copy from the publisher.

Recipes are great.... book is best suited for those who are not big meat eaters and concerned with mitigating weight gain. While I find a lot of the information helpful, not everything in it is realistic for some women and those who read it should consider that it’s one persons perspective. If you can’t afford to eat organic everything and don’t want to beat yourself up for eating gluten .. this book is not for you.

I found this book misleading and not factually correct scientifically. An MD should be ashamed of herself for spreading lies that GMO foods are not safe. There is no evidence to suggest GMO foods cause harm to anyone.

I have my PhD in an area within biology. This book lost my interest when I saw the author promoted only non-GMOs and when there weren’t very many recipes to begin with to support changing nutritional needs throughout pregnancy. Stick with a regular cookbook or a crockpot cookbook instead. You’ll find more recipes there.

I searched for a vegan pregnancy book and this book came up first. I wish I’d noticed it was the “sponsored” book. More than half of the entrees have meat or fish. There are some good plant-based recipes but this is not a supportive book for someone looking to eat a plant-based vegan diet.
