Informative book with medical details and a view on the expectant father's emotions during a pregnancy. Great way for a partner to feel more engaged in a pregnancy. Not condescending or gimmicky like other"bro" books.

Husband hated this book. We were looking for a competent book from a father's perspective about pregnancy and birth and this was not it for my husband. He did not appreciate the tone of the author or approach to the topics.

Some good tips and very good research. It does help you in giving you advice and prepare for what's to come.
On the other hand, gives a lot of advice that most probably won't apply to you. I skipped probably around 30% of the book, which covers subjects like adoption.

Bought this for my husband in our first trimester. This is a pretty helpful book, I've been reading it too! I was happy to find something that was taking the whole "going to be a dad" thing serious and not as if it was a big joke.

I am giving this 5 stars without really reading as it is exciting to see something written for men. Gave it to my son who is expecting his first born in 2019. I will update review if he shares any dissatisfaction.

Useless and quite disconcerting advice, contradicting a lot of the Mayo Clinic’s and Obstetrician’s pregnancy recommendations. The only thing that book was good for... calming hubby’s nerves - Therefore 2 stars instead of the 1 it deserves

I thought this was a wonderful book. This book kept me informed and made me feel as prepared as I could while also being entertaining. Armin A. Brott did a wonderful job of balancing information, humor, and advice.

This felt more comprehensive than other books I've read. I already purchased the next book in the series to prep me for the 1st year. My wife is due next week, so I finished this just in time... now, onto the next book. Thanks!

This book has provided a wealth of knowledge for me preparing to be a first time dad. Like many pregnancy books it is laid out in chapters corresponding to different time periods of a pregnancy, in chronological order of course. My favorite part about this book is the straightforward approach the author takes and it feels like "real" information, not just what experts agree on. Sometimes you just need to know what's going on, what to expect, and what works without all of the scientific jargon and medical advice that may not always be practical. But this book is definitely practical.

Each chapter starts with sections like "What's going on with your partner" and "What's going on with the baby" which are very helpful. They are basically letting you know what symptoms (physical and emotional) that your spouse may be going through at that time as well as where the baby should be developmentally. It then has a section "What's going on with you" before going into other areas like nutrition or finances or estate planning. This book does spend a decent (but not extensive) time talking about fertility treatments, adopting, and military dads in special boxes throughout some chapters. While none of these applied to me I think it's great to see that the book covers "non-traditional" topics that can often be overlooked in other books.

I really liked the style of the book and am looking forward to reading the next one in the series dealing with the baby's first year.

This book sucks unless you're a deadbeat dad that didn't want your kid in the first place...at least from what I've read. Also, you probably need to love the marines, because this guy keeps on flashing back to his 3-year your he did in the Peace-time Marines as a cook, which is pretty ridiculous and a waste of time.

I learned nothing from this book. If you don't have common sense, it might help in a few spots, but I'd still recommend you look elsewhere.
