This book was a fun, scary, suspenseful, can't put down till you're done book! I loved it! It wasn't full of unnecessary sex or raunchy language. It was a true thriller and I thoroughly enjoyed it!

From start to finish this story was intensely rich with the promise of horror and delivered as expected. I read several times in bed and kept having this feeling of someone watching me and this electrical charge surge through my hairs. I found this to be the best of Darcy's books so far. I enjoyed the twists and the evil it brought to the table to create the right type of horrific atmosphere. I recommend to all who enjoy suspense, mystery, supernatural, and intense reads that you will not want to put this book down even after you're done reading.

So, I liked the story fine but the actual physical book was the problem. As I was trying to read it 4 pages came out. It was like they weren't attached at all. I've never had this problem before so I don't think it was me.

This was a great mystery. It had me turning pages quickly. I liked the characters ... a strong brave female lead attracted to a handsome even tempered, logical kind, thoughtful fellow, a talented carpenter who caused her heart to quicken whenever he smiled or touched her tenderly with his strong calloused hard working hands. Mara and Neil were very different yet completely in love with each other. Mara bought an ancient run-down house that was on the market for over 25 years that intrigued her. Her boyfriend, Neil, disapproved of the sale after hearing of the horrible history and the rumors of the house being haunted. Many tragedies have taken place there. It was lived in by three different families over the years, each family coming to a horrific ending. Not frightened, Mara was further intrigued and eager to refinish this, in her opinion, lovely old home. And that is what this story is about ... mysterious hauntings, the romance of two very different lovers, how they dealt with their unusual problems ... It is about seances, ghosts, murders. There is much to keep one awake and interested ... A little scared. While reading, it makes one breathe a little shallower, the heart beat a little faster, lights burn a little bit brighter, someone to hold your your hand a little tighter, cuddle a little closer. It is a winner. Enjoy! CLB

Exciting reading. Couldn't put it down. Although the beginning was predictable, there are many unexpected twists and turns. I would recommend it to anyone. Also I liked that it didn't contain lots of foul language?

I liked the book. I thought that the characterization of Mara was a little repetitive at the beginning. However, liked the idea that Mara was confident. At times I wondered why Neil didn't run for the hills. I would bet that every woman would love to hookup with a guy like Neil. The ending was great. Looking forward to reading your next book !

Really enjoyable book, the main character was so stubborn that she was almost impossible to understand. Otherwise it was well written and somewhat scary. I will probably look for more works by this author.

Mara was house shopping for a nice old Victorian fixer-upper in the country. She was shown this one that was about 200 years old and needed a lot of work. Mara fell in love with it at first sight, but the realtor told her even though she would love to sell her the home she had to tell her the house had been vacant for the past 20 years. When Mara ask why she was told a searial killer had lived there and had hung himself from the banister. Even though it was quiet a distance from the nearest town, she had no electricity, no car and her cell phone no signal, Mara said she would buy it, for she didn't' care about it's past. After living there for a few days she soon realized she
was not alone. This is where the story captures your interest and will not turn you a loose. I enjoy stories about old haunted houses even though I do not believe in ghost myself like her. I recommend this book to all except the young, because there is violence in the story.
