The title is misleading. The stories, if read aloud, feel like an eternity...my just turned three year old gets bored of them after 5 minutes, and we are not through with the story. Also, the pictures on the cover don't match up with the pictures in the story so that's frustrating when your child wants you to read "that one," referring to a picture.

I bought this book for my 4 year old granddaughter for Easter. We have read many of the stories. But the great thing is that my 9 year old granddaughter can also read stories to her and enjoys them as well.

This is a great book for children. The cover is nice and soft, the book is the perfect side - big enough to have lots of detail, but not too large that children can't hold it. The pictures are vibrant and colorful, and the stories are the perfect length for a small children - they won't get distracted while listening as they would with a longer story.

I love the large size of the book, the number of the stories it contains and the quality of the material itself. The little girl I gave it to was very excited to receive this and I'm going to buy a copy for my own niece.

I bought this and another Disney 5 minute book to familiarize my kids with some more Disney characters before our trip to WDW this coming summer. For that purpose, this book is great. The stories aren't super interesting. They are about 5 minutes each, as the title suggests. I would have liked to see the stories be a shorter version of the movies, but it is allowing my kids to get to know more Disney characters before the big trip, so it is not all bad!

I ordered this book because my twin daughters had outgrown their old books. This book looks great on the outside and inside. The pages are made from sturdy paper that does not rip easily. The stories and illustrations are great too. I would highly recommend this book to anyone with little girls.

My three year granddaughter LOVES this book. It has multiple short stories about Disney Princesses, but I never got to read just one at a time. In two days we read the whole book, and then started to read her favorites again! Great illustrations, very nice paper quality. A must buy for little girls!

My daughter loves this book. She adores the princesses and anything to do with them. The stories do take about 5 minutes to read each. BUT . . .
... my husband and I cannot stand this book. The stories are so poorly written and boring. They are needlessly wordy. There are numerous inconsistencies between the movies of the princesses and the stories. They do not tell the movie stories (with the exception of Rapunzel). Instead they are like sequel or prequel stories. Also, each princess does not have the same number of stories. Some have more like Cinderella and Belle. Others only have 1, like Snow White.
Overall, a tedious read. We try to steer our daughter to almost any other book she has at reading time.

Good quality binding with a nice cushy hard cover. Quality printing, just as you would expect from anything with the Disney name on it. The stories are relavent for kids and to the characters. Got this as a gift for my friend's 5yr old girl and she really enjoys me reading it to herr when I babysit.

So many Disney Princess stories to choose from! Perfect for bedtime stories. We also break out the princess book while watching the movie in our house so we can follow along in the book. It helps bring the story to life at bedtime.

I bought this because of the pretty glitter and the princesses. I am trying to teach my daughter to read, so we try to read this together at bedtime. The book is nicely made, I just don't like the actual stories. They're really boring. My kid likes it though.

I have a number of these books and the 5 minute books are great. Disney has a number of them. The stories run about 5 minutes or less and allows for an easy bedtime routine of a quick story. I would recommend any of the books. It makes a great gift.

Excellent book for bedtime stories. My daughter is in love with all of the Disney princesses ... all of them. And so she was delighted when I opened the the store box and it was a collection of stories from characters she knew. Good buy.

I bought this as a gift for a 2-year-old "princess" -- bedtime stories her mom could read to her. I should have looked at it more carefully before purchasing, because it's definitely not for a child so young. The phrase "5 minutes" threw me off, and I thought it would be a picture book with a few words or lines of text on each page. But the stories are text-heavy and will surely have the child turning the page way before the story is finished. It's a pretty book, but not for a toddler.

This book was a piece of junk. This isn't a Disney publication, it is a knockoff. This was supposed to be a brand new product but the cover was damaged and pages had been torn. Don't waste your money.

Good stories... but take a closer look at the cover and you might think twice. Haha I don’t really mind because my Toddler has no idea, but really Disney?! The stories aren’t really real stories except the tangled story, they are just stories using the princess characters. They usually take longer than 5 minutes but my daughter likes the pictures and the cover is quality and the pages are thick and quality.

My 2.5 year old daughter is obsessed with this book. Its me, mom, that isn't a fan. I feel a good amount of the stories show the princesses needing the approval or help of the males in their lives to achieve anything (prince, father, friends...) some stories are 'worse' than others in this aspect. Since she can't read I find myself changing the words or entire story line as I read it. Trying to switch over to the 5-minute girl power stories book but my girl just loves her princesses. I wish I could merge the two books together!?

My daughter loves it. The illustrations are good.
Unfortunately, the stories are pretty shallow, and they are written in a way that is fatiguing to read aloud. Lots of explicit dialogue with "..., she said." "...she exclaimed," which makes the reading a chore. I usually skip those words.
Finally, some storybooks have a blank page that separates the stories. This one does not; the next story begins on the very next page. That doesn't give a parent the breather s/he needs. It's too easy for the kid to ask for the next story when you only promised three! :)
But as I said, my daughter loves it, which I suppose is all that really matters.

To begin with, the cover of this book is absolutely beautiful! The color is a gorgeous shade of pink, with writing in a glitter covered mauve-pink. Furthermore, the pictures of the princesses are a perfect replica of the way they appear in the movies. As for the stories themselves, they are all original--meaning they are stories about the princesses from the Disney movies, but are not a retelling of the events that occur in the movies--except for Tangled: Rapunzel's Story, which is the story of the events that occur in the Tangled movie.
The book is comprised of twelve stories, which are as follows: Cinderella: The Lost Mice; The Little Mermaid: A Special Song; Beauty and the Beast: Belle and the Castle Puppy; The Princess and the Frog: A Surprise Guest; Aladdin: The Desert Race; Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs: A Big Surprise; Sleeping Beauty: Buttercup the Brave; Beauty and the Beast: A Friend for Phillipe; Cinderella: A Royal Friend; Tangled: Rapunzel's Story; Sleeping Beauty: Aurora and the Helpful Dragon; and The Little Mermaid: Ariel to the Rescue. Most of the stories are around sixteen pages long, and each pretty much takes just about five minutes to read. Each story is well written and beautifully illustrated.
As with the pictures on the cover, the characters portrayed in the book look exactly the same as they appear in the various movies. My 6 year old daughter loves this book. It is one of her favorites, and for a kid that owns tons of books that's saying something. This is a great collection for any little princess, whether or not they are familiar with the Disney movies entailed.

These are my husband's favorite books to read at bedtime to my daughter. They are short and sweet with all the princesses my daughter loves. I love that each book we buy in the series as different stories. We have a little collection of them now.

The papers and the printing of this book are very nice. The book is much thicker than I expected. My daughter likes all princesses' stories. The stories in this book are related to the princesses but are not those familiar ones. My daughter turns back to her old princess books after finding this out. I would give this book five stars if it can include the traditional princess stories as well.

It's nice to have shorter stories to read to your little ones. The girls love this book the most and say it's a very good book. Nice to have a book of stories that will last for awhile and easier to put on bookshelf with one book rather than lots of smaller books I've noticed. Great stories to read together especially for quality time together before bedtime. A great book and one that you can enjoy for years to come and that will last for generations. Enjoy this great princess book.

This book is proof you can sell anything, as long as there are Disney princess pictures on it. The stories are mindless and lame: the princesses go play with puppies, ride horses, try on dresses, take care of baby dragons, and generally do princess things. But there's no plot, nothing special about the writing, and absolutely no literary merit to this book. With so many great, high-quality children's books out there, it is a shame to waste even 5 minutes on these princess stories.
The only exception (and the one story I will read) is Tangled: Rapunzel's Story. It is a good summary of the story from the movie, and as such has a plot, characters, and more substance than any of the other stories in the book.

Every night I read to my 3 small children. I love this book because it delivers a 5 minute story and at the conclusion my daughter knows that the next story is for the next night. She absolutely loves this book and the stories. She looks forward to it each night and because the stories are short I have enough time at the end of the night to read it to her after I have read to her brothers. I am growing a bit tired of the same stories so I am looking for more book just like this one. Truly this is a wonderful book for parents to read to their small children. I am sure she will be reading it in a few years when she can read on her own. A true keeper.

Let's face it, this is not an award winning title but there is nothing particularly offensive here either. I tend to be pretty picky about my children's book collection but I let this one slip through when my daughter saw it on the shelf at Target. The stories lack any real depth, and do not offer much extension of the original plots as other posters have mentioned before. The book does have two redeeming qualities though; the artwork is quite nice and the stories are relatively short. The downside is that you'll be bored to death after repeat readings while your 3-5 year old hangs on every word and begs for 'just one more' until 5 minutes turns into an hour and you've read the whole darn thing. If you're lucky, you'll both be asleep before you get there :)

Bought this for a little girl who is learning how to read! It's beautiful in a soft-cover binding. It has quite a few of the Disney princesses-including the new ones; like Tiana and Rapunzel-which I knew she would love! Buy this for your own little girl or one you know who loves the Disney princesses..whether she's reading it, or you want quick bedtime stories. It's a great book. :-)

Cute, short Princess stories. My 3 year old daughter likes them, and some of them continue the stories of the princesses, which I like. Why 3 stars? Some are good, others are "meh" and still others are repetes.

To be perfectly honest, I hate this book. But my kids enjoy it at bedtime, which is the only reason it gets more than one star.
Good: the material is appropriate for age 5 and up, though some things may go over kids' heads at that age. As promised, the stories are short, so they are perfect for bedtime.
Bad: the message these stories teach kids are horrible. Don't believe me? I'll give you the plot points of one: girls in an orphanage are thrilled because now-famous Princess Cinderella is coming to visit and bring them free stuff. The Princess arranges for the girls to come eat a picnic on her lawn, which is supposed to be a special treat, I guess.
One girl sneaks into the castle and insinuates herself into Cinderella's entourage of seamstresses. She gets to spend the day learning how unglamorous a princess's life really is: poor Cinderella spends her time boxing up unwanted gowns for charity and supervising her many household staff as they carry out her philanthropic endeavors. She makes the girl Princess for a day and gives her a gown to take back to the orphanage.
The message seems to be that it sucks to be poor, but If you are lucky, one day a generous princess will come and deem to talk to you and give you some of her used clothes.
I had a chat with my daughter about how this isn't what real princesses are like and that monarchies are dying and outmoded political systems, which was the most redeeming part of reading this book.

I thought this book would be great to read to my Granddaughter at bed time. This was not the case. This book was way to deep and serious for a 4 1/2 yr. old and the stories are not 5 minutes. The book now remains in the closet. Was not a good purchase for me.
