Oh man, life just got more interesting . I love this story set in the world of the Others. It talks about Vicki and how she and the people around her deal with the interest the Others have in humans and their inability to be honest in business. Always trying to get something for nothing .

This welcomed addition to The World of the Others is brilliant. The right blend of connection to the previous books while spinning a new story that adds to the depth and colour of this 'verse. Anne has also achieved a balance between humour and drama as well as new Earth Natives to add to this fascinating world she has spun.

Excellent!! Another OTHER story about a totally new lead character in the same time as Meg. I hope Anne writes more of these. I loved it when Vicki yelled "I have an Elder Helps ME card!" while running for her life. I actually laughed out loud.
The Invisible Ring (Black Jewels, Book 4) :: The Shadow Queen (Black Jewels) :: Shalador's Lady (Black Jewels) :: Marked In Flesh (A Novel of the Others) :: Heir to the Shadows (Black Jewels, Book 2)

I loved Simon, Meg, and Tess. It’s obvious that Vicki is Anne when the Lady of the Lake takes a picture with her. Vicki is a bit disappointing in the sense that she is so normal. Julian makes it interesting and so do the Sproingers. I was hoping that I would see what happened to Sierra and the girls. A good read but not as good as the original series.

This book is seriously fantastic. It’s everybit as good as the first 5 books in the series. I was hesitant because of the new characters and setting but am I glad I took the chance. I cannot say enough good things about it. I need the next in the series like now!

I loved this book. Anne Bishop is wonderful at story telling and her world of the Others is compelling and addictive. While this book doesn't center around the Courtyard with Meg and Simon; the new additions of humans and terra indigene is a winner. I look forward to more of the Others.

I thought the book would have the previous characters. It didn't but I really love the new ones. The characters were well developed and very engaging. I enjoyed the story -- reading it twice to catch all the nuances. I highly recommend the book as well as the series.

I loved the main character, not the usual " just a pretty face" Very different world belonging to very different beings, with humans being typically selfish, abusive and thoughtless. I appreciate that the abusive, selfishthoughtless humans get what they deserve.

The Others continue on in another story that completely takes the reader into their world!
Different people from the previous books, mostly, but just as fascinating and just as well done.
Only complaint......didn't want it to end!
Looking forward to the next!!!!

This is a wonderful new setting in the others land. I was cautious at first as I wanted more of the courtyard, especially Meg and Simon. But Bishop’s writing captured my heart and imagination again. You will love these new characters and be sucked into the story.

This is well-written and inventive series. Anne Bishops crafts an amazingly original fantasy world and then tells compelling stories about its inhabitants. I always finish one of her books with the hope the next one will be out soon. Love this series.

As with Written In Red and the other four previous books about the World of the Others, Ms. Bishop delivers a winner! It transports you to their world with fascinating characters: shifters, vampires, elementals, and humans too! Highly Recommended!

Stories of the Others are always great, and this book shines. Good guys win, though there is always enough strife and action to make the reader worry about who the good guys really are and which ones will survive the teeth and claws of the Elders

Although I missed the Lakeside characters, the Jumble and surrounding inhabitants didn’t disappoint. I enjoyed this new village and its characters and am hoping they’ll appear in other stories. I want to hear about the Meg, though, too.

An amazing story, with amazing characters set in world that is so very different than every other story out there. I didn’t think it was possible for a spin off to be as good as the original, this is as addictive and I can’t wait for the next one!

Anne Bishop has been one of my favorite writers since I first Read her Dark Jewels Trilogy. I like her ability to create non-human species and make them equally terrifying and yet sympathetic as well. I pre-ordered Lake Silence and read it through the first evening it popped up on my Kindle. Then I reread it for the subtleties I missed the first time. The Sanguineti are my favorite species, overly clever vampires. I highly recommend it to those who enjoy Tanya Huff or Seanan McGuire

I love the Others and Lake Silence. This book introduces a few more tolerable humans while pointing out the worst humanity has to offer. The suspense keeps you holding on to the book with white knuckles while you're hoping the others and good humans win. Hope too have more to read of this world, I missed meg and the wolfgard but fell in love with the folks of sproing as soon as I turned the 1st page.

It is helpful if you read The Others series first but not necessary. The tension building throughout the book made me stay up late reading. Sometimes I wish there was a representative of the Earth like in these books.

I'm enjoying the ongoing glimpses into the way the "others" minds work. Friendly but not friends was an excellent line. Please keep them coming. An update on Meg the courtyard and how it's evolving with it's extended network of humans would be appreciated.

I read everything Anne Bishop writes. I love her characters and the compassion that comes through her writing as well as the justice. I tried so hard to make this book last but could not help myself I read it straight through. Now I wait for the next book. If you loved The Others you will like this one ( sorry no wolves).

This was a really good addition to The Others series. The only reason I am not giving 5 stars is that I did not feel that the characters were as interesting as the ones in the first five books of the series. The world is really interesting and I plan on purchasing the next one in the series.

A wonderful continuation of the “Other” books. I will usually only pay what I did for this book if I receive a hard back book in return. As it stands, I’m a sucker for an Anne Bishop “Other” book. Try it, you’ll like it!

The Others are probably the most fascinating non-humans I have ever met. The protagonists in Bishop’s books are strong survivors. I’d recommend this and all her books to anyone willing to suspend disbelief for about 400 pages. The first three, true to every great work of fiction, will get you.

My favorite author of all time writes another book that pleases me in a hundred ways. The writing, the characters, the location, this is pure pleasure for me and thank you Anne for writing a keeper for me to treasure.

I have really enjoyed Anne Bishops "Other Series" and this story is just as good. It introduces new and likeable characters with different struggles. I consider both series as must reads. Can't wait for the next one.

I love this series, I love the characters and the story and I wish we had "Elders" and "Others" in this world we live in to control the excesses of humans and their destructive behavior! I cannot wait for the next book to come out. (",)

I appreciate Anne Bishop as an author. All of her stories are well written, and her series addictive. The world of the Others just got more expansive with this title. I hope she continues to tell us more.

I really enjoyed learning about the community of Lake Silence and getting to see a slightly different view of the interactions between humans and Others. Hated to finish, could have kept reading for quite a bit longer.

I enjoyed this. Less soul searching than others in the series and for an old dog like me, I could predict it. But for once, romance wasnt the end all be all which was refreshing. I will read this again happily.

This latest installment in the World of the Others series is an engrossing thriller told in the voice of each character as it unfolds. No spoilers from me here, read the sample and then see for yourself. Thanks Anne, you did it again!

I read the three book series about The Others and enjoyed them so much. I was disappointed when the series ended! Now out of the blue a new book about The Others has arrived. I loved it. I hope there will be many, many more.

Anne Bishop is an amazing talent who will draw you into these tales of the Elders and Others! Slightly quirky and definitely not your usual tales of humans vs others. I love that she does not try to make them more like us but let’s them be different, much more primal. Read two of the tales, I think you will be hooked like me! I can’t wait for the next one!!

Ms. Bishop continues The Others in a very different way, but I found it very intriguing. I liked that she kept this book similar to the others in the series, but have it more than enough differences to make it special. I especially like how the new characters were different and special. In the next book, I would really love to have a female character that is strong to begin with and doesn't have to find herself, but could find a place to exist peacefully with The Others.

I don’t often reread books or rewatch movies but there are a special few that I never get tired of and Anne Bishop is one of those talents whose books are better every time you read them. I enjoyed Lake Silence very much and sincerely hope that there are more books of The Others in the future. I only wish she wrote a little faster because a year is a long time to wait.

I absolutely love the stories based in this other world. It's gripping from the first chapter to the end. The humour throughout is balanced by each thrilling twist that you weren't expecting. The diversity of species making up the others and the powerful elders make it a page turner that I can't put down and I want more and more so going to sleep before I finish the book is not easy . I hope it not the last story of the others.

So very different from the first books of The Others but just as good! I can't wait for a sequel or to see what happens next! I think this may have been a better choice in between book 4 and 5 but that's my unimportant opinion. You should read it.

I look forward to more people, places, and events on this world. I would like more inter actions with the humans and the others that we already know as well as new areas and events. Ms. Bishop is a very good story teller. She has a good sense of humor that makes her stories fun to read. The characters are very believable.
