Typical Sandford action, by which I mean it is exciting, etc. However, this book revolved around a sadomasochistic killer and I personally found some of the descriptive passages hard to take. A decent representative of the genre nonetheless.

A very twisted sick mind is well developed by Sancord. I have read all his books in chronological order. There were only two that were somewhat disappointing. He is my favorite suspense mystery , thriller writer. When Robert Parker died I found John Sanford.

Wow! Best from Sanford in years. Hard to beleive that this was the 16th in the Davenport/Prey series. Characters and story line very fresh. Stand alone serial killer story first rate even if you aren't a fan of the series(yet). Many plot twists and miss directions that actually work this time. Props to Camp/Sanford for hitting a home run. He and Michael Connelly (Harry Bosch) are the best of the genre

I absolutely LOVE the "prey" series. My favorite was Winter Prey. This one, like the last was to predictable for me. I figured out what was what in the first few chapters. BUT, Sandford is really great at adding some other dimensions that contribute to the mystery. Still I pray (pun intended) for the "old school" PREY books. More for the imagination, not so predictable.
