That effin' Flowers is simply a joy to read. Sandford writes books that are too short. They are over too soon. Then I have to wait until the next one, usually with great impatience.I recommend this series to anyone who enjoys being entertained. Sandford is like a super cold beer on a really hot summers day. It goes down easy.

Sandford may be my favorite fiction author. I don't know how he can write so many serial killer stories and keep them individual, but he does. Too bad Hollywood hasn't grabbed a hold. This would sell.

I did not like Virgil's sexual relationship in the book or the child abuse subject of the book. And after we know the outcome it went on and on. It was a hard read. The other Virgil Flowers books (now reading and love Shock Wave) were much better.
Outrage (The Singular Menace, 2) :: Winter Prey (A Prey Novel) :: Storm Prey (A Prey Novel) :: The Hanged Man's Song (Kidd Book 4) :: The Empress File (Kidd Book 2)

Every Virgil Flowers novel gets 5 stars from me. See my review of Rough Country for reasons (I didn't review the first two on the store because they were given to me). I will read all the Virgil that Sanford will give me and whine for more :)

I really enjoyed it, held my interest. The only reason I did not give it a 5 star is because Lucas Davenport is not the main character. I am so hooked on 'Lucas', someone else just does not seem right. Having said that, I would, however, get another 'Virgil' book.

John Sandford continues his winning series based on Virgil Flowers who has grown from a minor role in Sandford's "Prey" series with Lucas Davenport to main protagonist role in this series. In the latest effort, Bad Blood, Flowers gets called by a small-town sheriff to help with the investigation of the death of a murder suspect. The story, however, quickly gets more complicated as Flowers begins to unravel a truly heinous conspiracy. The plot, though distressing and disturbing, is thoroughly believable and moves forward with pace. The pages just flew by. Simply put, Bad Blood is a great addition to this series, which keeps getting better with each installment.

First, let me preface this comment by saying that this novel is a good light read, and John Sandford does a good job delving into a very dark subject. I would recommend the book on this alone.
But the Product Placements! Every third page holds a blatant commercial. Now I'm all for Free Enterprise and Capitalism and the American Way, but how about a word for Full Disclosure. Knowing about the placements would not be sufficient reason for me not to purchase this book, but I find it a bit annoying to spend my money to acquire someone else's bald faced commercials.
Yes, I like Diet Coke and Lean Cuisine, but I get enough of that on network television. It annoys me to run into the same thing in a book that I actually have to pay for.

Always a pleasure to read a John Sandford book. I enjoy the Virgil Flower's character. His passive-aggressive nature makes it interesting how others relate to him. I enjoyed reading this book and watching the characters develop in the story. I intend to read all of the series.

We have ALL of Sandford's books, either on audiobooks or hardback. He's one of our top favorite authors. This one's his best Virgil to date and one of his top three in our opinion. The plot is excellent. The characters are so well developed that at the end of the book you feel revolted by the 'villains' and have to remind yourself that it's fiction. We heartily recommend this book.

A snowballing murder/manhunt story that has a believable feel about it.The plot, characterisations and language usage hold up well. Sandford either knows that part of the country well, or does good research, because it has n authenic feel about it. Of course, the "flawed detective" is not exactly a unique literary construct, but Sandford's Virgil is a good example.

Sandford like Berenson has developed a unique character for this mystery genre. Flowers is like Deeks in NCIS LA. and this series could easily be developed into a TV series much as many of Robert Parker's novels.

As usual, John Sandford has created a masterful web of secrets that Virgii Flowers must untangle. This is a fast moving, clever story and Flowers ranks among some of the most interesting lawmen in fiction.

Virgil Flowers is a offshoot of the Lucas Davenport character that has pleased us for many years. In this the 3rd Flowers novel he touches on a subject that John Sandford has never encountered before; sexual slavery by religion. Virgil comes to town to investigate a terrible murder which grows into a triple murder and spins into the dark world of sexual slavery with tones on incest and everything else you can do to your children and others. A John Sandford book always pleases and the price is nothing to quibble about. A quality book is a rare treat in todays world.

All JOHN SANDFORD novels concerning the "BCA" organization and its Boss Lucas and his fascinating members is exciting and a first class reading experience. Virgil Flowers uses unorthodox methods to become a go-to investigator.

Excellent story telling and exceedingly fun to read! Sanford brings the Minnesota countryside and her people to life. This is only the second of Flower series novels I have read but will continue to work my way through the rest of this series.

Virgil Flowers is one of my favorite main characters. He has morals, is sort of a Christian, and is true to life. I think I have read every one of Virgil's stories and look forward to more in the future.
