Excellent read! As usual John Sanford's books are full of suspense and very hard to put down. I would highly recommend this to anyone who likes a good mystery that keeps you interested until the last page.

The Prey books just keep getting better and better and more intense. All the Prey books are must reads! If you like to be kept at the edge of your seat, if you like books you can't put down! then Sandford Prey books are just what you need!

One of the best writers of detective fiction. Thrilling, keeps my interest, very vivid descriptions and always twists and turns. I live in the area he talks about so all the roads, streets, and places are familiar.

As always, John Sandford does it again. I have every book he has ever written and it's been great reading the progression of his life. I love Weather and I know she's the biggest challenge he's faced so far. She refuses to be pushed around, she's brilliant and will always be her own person.

I do miss Rosemary. I loved her smart-mouth responses and the banter between she and Lucas.

I give this book a review of 100%, an excellent read.

Love love love John Sanford. His characters always make me want to know more about them and their lives. Every time I read one of his books I feel as though I am visiting with friends. He is eminently readable and his plots are imaginative and keep the story flowing. I have no complaints with any of this author's works.

As others have mentioned - I also consider myself a Prey fan. However, I realize that my enjoyment of these stories is based on Sandford's earlier books. These last few have been very poor.

Storm Prey is a mess. There is really no central theme or focused mystery. All parts of the story meander aimlessly with no fixed direction. Even the 'side story' of Weather's surgery goes from "It's on" to "No, it's off" to "It's on" to "Well, we just don't know".

The initial murder is not an case for Davenport. But as with most things in this book, that changes also and he gets involved. For most of the book, the police have no clear idea of who they are looking for. They think that 'this guy' committed the murder, but then they think it might be his brother or maybe his father is involved or maybe their friends or maybe a woman who is involved with both brothers, etc. There is a medical person connected with the crime - it could be this doctor or it could be a nurse or a another hospital employee. Instead of feeling that the crime(s) have a lot of possible solutions, their detective work just seems to be fumbling and stumbling as they go from one wrong idea to the next.

The bodies pile up and the plot feels like a pin ball machine with the possible perps, police, doctors and associates bouncing all around with no direction. This is one of the least interesting mystery novels I have read in a long time. The book was so poorly written and plotted that it could not hold my attention nor keep me interested.

ever since Lucas got married the series has become pedestrian and predictable. gone are the smart alec comments, the sexual tension, the beat donw tough guy cop we all loved and ow is a boring office cop amrried with kids. the character of weather is awful and i can not express how much i dislike her. she adds nothing to the series but whiny bitching and complaining. i want the old lucas back. i will stop buying these and go to library for now on. this story line in particular was simply boring, predictable and not what we have come to expect from sandford.

AS USUAL, SANDFORD DID IT AGAIN. THIS WAS A GIFT FOR MY
HUSBAND, AND IT DIDN'T TAKE TOO MUCH TIME TO READ IT.
HE LOVED IT. WE'RE FROM MINNESOTA ORIGINALLY SO HIS
STORY LINES ARE OF INTEREST.

I enjoy reading anything by this author. I have read most of his series of books and have enjoyed them all. I'm currently reading another of his series and so far I have enjoyed all of them as well.

I bought these books for my husband. He has read several of John Sandford books on John Davenport series. He has enjoyed them all and would recommend them to anyone who likes mysteries. He plans on ordering and reading all 24 of them.

I absolutely love the prey series and hope to read many more. I got so hooked on them that I read all 22 of them in order and can't wait until the next one comes on the market which will be soon. Love the story line and all his charters.

I love all of the John Sandford novels especially the Prey series. This one, however, was not quite as enjoyable as most of the rest. I have read all of the Prey novels and they have kept me engrossed not wanting to put it down. Storm prey started off seeming like it would be really exciting, but it just never got to the action until the end and Lucas never did too much. It is still worth reading but not a 5 star like most Sandford books. I am still a big fan, and will quickly purchase any future Prey novels.

Sanford fills with action for the chase, worry about weather and the intricate operation she is involved with, multiple story lines running through, meshes well what Lucas, Virgil are thinking, weather and the bad guys. Great Juggling of story lines.Keeps you thinking what these guys are going to do and you know in the end Davenport will get them and go to any length to protect his family. Good read, couldn't wait to get to the end to see how Davenport got the bad guys.
