I love this trilogy. Nothing can compare to the first, "Child 44", but Tom Rob Smith has created characters in whose lives I feel vested throughout all three novels. Full of intrigue, adventure and moral dilemmas that make me angry one moment and in awe of the strength of character the next. Could there be a 4th I n the story? A girl can hope!

This final book in the trilogy seemed to meander in the middle of the novel. The story line played out in Afghanistan was interesting to me but could have been a separate story. I think I was expecting more clarity and closure by the end.

Tom Rob Smith's style captivates you from the beginning so that all you can think of is finishing the book. I was relieved that he provides a sense of closure in the end; Leo's situation is far from happy but at least he uncovers the truth in his journey.

When one of our bookstores was closing, I picked up Child 44 for a we dollars, and was instantly a fan of Tom Rob Smith. This is my third book by him with the same character, and the writing just keeps on getting better

Great book! Definitely one of the better historical fiction about the USSR. I love that the series doesn't just focus on Stalinism and proceed through out the cold war. I also loves the take from a Soviet officer who originally supported the regime instead of the usual protagonist character who opposes communism and the state.

Liked Child 44 the best, the first in the trilogy, the second one, Secret Speech, not too much, but Agent 6 I liked the least. Each book started back in prior years, when what you were expecting was to know how the characters are now since the last book.

Unfortunately the last in the trilogy. Not the best of the 3 but needs to be read. This book takes you outside the Soviet Union to Soviet invaded Afghanistan and then to the US but the grip of the Soviet machinery never subsides.

Smith's portrail of the times and conditions through the years of the Leo Demidov's challanges pulls at the strings of my heart. His down fall and rise of his life at the climax brought tears to my eyes!

I loved this book - and the series! I just happened to stumble on it on the store when browsing through the daily deals. It is a little slow going at first - lots of character development - but once it gets going watch out. I found the backdrop of 1950's Russia to be extremely fascinating.

Wonderful writer! Books are darker than ones I normally read, but I devoured all three of them! I would recommend if the reader can tolerate certain parts of the story. Download a sample, and you will probably be hooked!
