I really liked Child 44 therefore I am determined to read all 3 books in this trilogy. The Secret Speech is even better. It started a little slow for me but this author really delivers. Momentum builds quickly and this becomes a real page turner. Tom Rob Smith is an amazing author and this is most definately a 5 star read. Can't wait to read the 3rd book.

Although not as fast paced as "Child 44" - The Secret Speech focuses more on character development and is definitely worth the read as a sequel to Child 44. Can't wait to read the third book in this trilogy!

Good story following the trilogy in the timeline. Gets a little more surreal but still takes place among world events. Interesting, suspenseful, and very dark read. Definitely would recommend to most anyone interesting in suspense novels.

Learning history is boring but when described by Tom Rob Smith amidst a tale within the historical background - everything comes alive and best of all the repercussions of a change in power from Stalin and Khrushchev becomes so much clearer. It reveals the extent of how regimes go to keep their power and that is why I gave this book 5 stars.

This series was so interesting and well written I read each one as quickly as possible. The characters, especially the flawed Leo, became so real to me I thought about them throughout my day. I definitely want to read more by Mr. Smith.

I have read the whole Child 44 Trilogy, each book was excellent in its own right and it is interesting to follow the lives of families particularly, especially through difficult times as they were portrayed in this book and the other two books.

A continuation from Child 44, a little bit fanciful in stages but gripping none the less. Has piqued my interest in the Stalin years and have downloaded the Gulag Achipelego as a consequence. What a horrifying society that must have been.
