I loved Matheson's Duel. King and Hill pay perfect homage to a masterpiece of terror. A great story that burned by my eyes in a trail of gasoline and smoke. I'd tell you to read it, but with the reputations involved that seems pointless.

A nice quick read, nothing overly original or groundbreaking but enjoyable nonetheless. As expected from Stephen King everything it described in great detail and even though its a short story you can still empathize with the characters by the end. This would be a great graphic novel.

Having owned and driven a 1969 Triumph Tiger 650, single carb version of the Bonneville, this story got my attention and held it throughout. Well written, great plot, exciting to experience. We want more from Joe.

This was a pleasantly quick read. King's brilliant story-telling shone through, though I'm not familair enough with Hill to know how much was due to his ability. Also, I wished it was a longer read, but it was rivetting.

As an avid Stephen King Constant Reader since I was 8 years old (now 36), I have a high expectation, and this short story certainly lived up to it. It amazes me how much suspense and a full gammet of emotions can be crammed into such a short read. It was like taking a ride on a roller coaster. I love seeing S.K. collaborating with his son.

Throttle is a Kindle Single by Stephen King and his son Joseph Hillstrom King (Joe Hill). The two writers collaborated on this work inspired by the short story, Duel, by Richard Matheson originally published in Playboy in 1971. Both the original short story and this Single tell the tale of road rage involving the driver of a semi-truck pursuing other motorists on winding back roads. In this story, an oil tanker driver relentlessly pursues outlaw bikers after he overhears them talking about murdering two meth dealers. The leader of the small "tribe" of outlaws, Vince, is a Vietnam War combat veteran. His son Race rides with the group and is a combat veteran of the Iraq War. The major difference between the two vets is that Vince was honorably discharged while his son's discharge from the military was dishonorable. Race had driven away from his fellow soldiers in combat to save himself. The love-hate relationship between the two men is a major theme of the story. The cat and mouse pursuit and ensuing mayhem are exciting and the surprise ending is predictable but satisfying. The final resolution of tension in the father-son relationship is poignant and will produce a visceral reaction in readers. This is a good work of fiction well worth the low price.

This thing is short. Good.
Its about bikers in the desert. Good.
Its about revenge. Good.
Its got a mysterious trucker, a meth dealer & his girlfriend, diner food & weapons. Good.
But mostly its got Stephen King, a dad, and Joe Hill,a son. Good father & son stuff.

...but lacking in real surprise and tension. This shorts lacks the taut, truly fear-inducing action of, say, Heart-Shaped Box, despite the carnage. Still, like the best of King and Hill's work, the focus is really on human relationships, and subtle, sorrowful complexities shine. Worth the .79 price for a good short read.

Gripping, with the 'King" mystic and the wish to see it end better than it did. A look at what might actually go down in a tribe of bikers, with an insight into the motivation to belong to this kind of brotherhood.

"Throttle" by Joe Hill and Stephen King is a Novella that is very similar to "The Duel" but with a killer 18 wheeler pursuing and killing ex military bikers. The subplost involves a father and son at odds with each other. Violent, dark, and intense, this is just a so-so effort by two very good writers...

A minimum of words in this novella by Stephen King and his son, Joe Hill, but it's jam packed full of action, blood and guts. "Throttle" takes me back to the good old days when King wrote more short fiction. He is a master at wringing every little morsel of emotion out of the least amount of words and it seems Hill inherited at least some of his writing chops from dear old Dad.
There are definitely echoes of Richard Matheson's book Duel, later made into a movie by Steven Spielberg Duel (Collector's Edition) in this homage to Matheson. But this story is masterful in its own right. Read about Vince, his troubled son Race, and the rest of the Tribe as they fight for their lives in the Nevada desert. Just know you won't be feeling too sorry for them.
Also, great color illustrations are scattered throughout the story.

Love the collaboration between Hill and King. A great story of a father and son who have grown apart, and the one chance they have to reconcile is taken away by morals.
I look forward to more books by these two master storytellers.

Joe Hill has a new fan! His father, Stephen King, with his oevre, and his mother,Tabitha King, with her also immensly talented writing, have evidently shared their writing genes to great use in the son. This is my first reading of Joe Hill and I am an instant fan, as I was of his parents! I have since purchased more of his work and enjoyed every word of it.

As always, I was thoroughly engrossed in the book. Stephen King has a way of writing
that puts you in the action. You read, and become part of the action. I have never been
disappointed in Mr. King's books.

What a ride! This father son collaboration is short, sweet, and brutally fun! I won't go into plot because this is a short story and with all short stories it's best to let yourself discover the plot, but rest assured you will not be disappointed. This one packs a whallop!

This seemed more like the seed for a longer story - I thought the end was a bit too abrupt and could have been stretched out a bit with the protragonist getting some more payback. The bikers were not sympathetic characters at all. It was tough to wrap a story around them.

The story was much shorter than I thought, but otherwise it was fun to read. I love reading both Stephen King and his son Joe Hill, so I had to purchase this when I saw it. Didn't take long to read and I was disappointed when it ended, because it just kind of ended. I thought I had more left!

A decent enough story, but not riveting by any means. This is the first I've read of Hill, though I don't know which parts were written by which. Can be read in one sitting, but it didn't hold me that long, so I took a couple of days.

This was a very interesting book, very well written by co-authors Joe Hill and Steven King. If you want suspense, here it is. For me this turned out to be one of those books that when you get started it was hard to put it down until I finished.

I enjoyed this story, but there is one passage that had a rider twisting their left hand throttle. I can't get it out of my mind. Getting minor details wrong can be a big distraction.
"Vince twisted the left handgrip and the Vulcan took off."

A decent short story by Stephen King and his son. It lacks some of the supernatural elements that often define Stephen King's books.
Overall, it's a short decent read. Take it to the beach (or on an airplane).

I loved this short. It was really really well written. And, as someone else said, for a short story it packed a lot of story in, a lot of backstory, and a lot of development of both the story and the characters. Really loved it.
