Stone Barrington novels were once among my favorites. Unfortunately, I just don't have the sense that Woods' heart is in it anymore. The last two or three in the series have not lived up to earlier books and this one is just plain bad. The story lines are weak, Herbie's character is not believable and Barrington is a bit player in this one. This is likely the last Woods' book for me.

Great writer--easy flow and easy read.

His last several (8?) books have just been "mailed in"--dull, predictable and uninspiring. The only interest he seems to have are his hobbies: flying; fine dining; and clothes.

Again, great writer, just not a great effort.

I have read every Stone Barrington book Stuart Woods has written. I order them even before they are released and collect them because I have loved each one except for this one. This book was not about Stone Barrington, it was about Herbie Fisher whom I have NO interest in. I was very disappointed! I do hope this trend does not continue. The earlier ones were much better, I hope he gets his grove back. We want Stone Barrington!!!

Love the life and situations Stone gets into. Cast of characters are always interesting
The negative is he gets more woman and more inheritances than James Bond.
Hoe does Stone stay in shape for sex with no mention of exercise and lots of eating and drinking....

Put this on the bottom. A truly bad read. Stuart Woods should have left this one on the computer. This one is far below his ability. Next time I look at a new offering from Mr. Woods, I will read the reviews before I buy.

This "novel" is extremely trite. Definitely not up to the standards and quality of Stuart Woods' prior books. I struggled to get through this only out of loyalty. However, if the next novel does not improve dramatically, it will be my last. Makes mw wonder if he's farmed out the story line and writing!

I am very disappointed. Woods' books used to be enjoyable reads, but not any longer. This book had little to do with Stone Barrington or anything resembling a genuine plot. Why is Herbie Fisher the central character? I think I'll spend discretionary funds elsewhere in the future.

Don't understand all the would-be book critics who are always complaining that Woods is no longer writing the quality he once did. I'm not reading a novel to critique it or to determine whether a creative writing prof would consider it properly done. I have enjoyed all of Woods' books and this one is one of his best, in my opinion.
