Anyone who loves Shakespeare will love this book. It has all the bawdy and the complexity of the Bard's plays. It is totally contemporary in its outlook, language and politics so you can enjoy it even if you have never heard of Shakespeare. The sequel, The Serpent Of Venice, is also funny with the Fool in total control of Othello, Shylock and Portia.

First, I listened to this book in audio form from the library. I liked it so much, I bought a copy. The writing is clever and filled with nuances. Great humor and shock value as well. What I consider a perfect read.

I loved "Lamb", but "Fool", not so much. The type of humor is similar, and can be funny, though in "Fool" it seemed to be piled on constantly, which is, I suppose, the job of a fool. I'm quite familiar with "Lear", but the characters seemed to be just excuses for the incessant gags, and it got to be tiresome.

I finally set it aside about 2/3 of the way through. I may still finish it.

Smart, hysterical, fascinating, and just a great way to spend some down time. Love all his books... They're like Hiassen but on crack. This one is not a vampire sequel. It truly takes the classic Lear story and completely screws with it. It's also a bit of a mashup of many Shakespeare plays. Stop reading this review and just download the damn thing and read it. And if you haven't read"Lamb,"get that one too. Comic brilliance with a brain.

If you've read any previous Christopher Moore novel, and enjoyed it, you'll enjoy this one. Quick turn of wit, and interesting perspective in sweeping events are what he does. This novel does little to change up his usual formula, but the occasional use of old english conventions does just enough to keep it all feeling new.

Christopher Moore has the most warped sense of humor of any writer out there today, and fans won't be disappointed with Fool. Although not one of my favorite books by him (nothing will ever outshine Lamb), this was a very entertaining tale that made me laugh all the way through.

I rarely write reviews yet this book was screaming for one.
If you are an avid C. Moore reader you will enjoy this immensely, if you've never heard of him you will get hooked. True, it's a parody on a Shakespearean drama. True, it's funny as hell.
Many nights I stayed up reading while my husband slept only to be awakened by me as I was LMAO! I even took it to the gym with me, it made a simple workout much more fun. And it leaves me craving for more of Mr Moore 's work. I can only hope it won't take him too long to publish a new book.

I thoroughly enjoyed this book. I really hated to see it end. This author truly has an enormous imagination. This is my third book of his I have read, and all of them have been wonderfully entertaining. I must admit, usually I'm not much of a fiction fan, but this fellow is certainly worth a read.

Just ordered this book to reread it as "Serpeant of Venice" was due to come out. Fool was the first book I read by Moore and I laughed out loud all the way through just like the first read. Moore is a genius.

I have read just about every Christopher Moore book out there and this one does not disappoint. Bloody hilarious and slightly perverse, just the way I like my Moore. If you are a fan of the bard however, you should know that this book is merely inspired by his King Lear and contains a slew of other Shakespeare characters not related to the play.

This is the first book of by Christopher Moore that introduces "Pocket" in. Pocket is a mischievous court jester who cannot keep himself out of trouble. This is great book it is definitely a must read.

Moore says that he alternates between doing easier, lighter fare and harder books, ones more challenging to write. This one is in the latter category. It is cruder, rougher and ruder than the predecessors but no less satisfying for the reader as long as you realize the is Moore trying to channel the world of Shakespeare's time, so much more uncouth than our own genteel world of book reading America.

A wonderful re-imagining of one of the bards most complex and dramatic tales, now cast as a whimsical farce. One of Moore's most interesting ribald characters yet takes center stage to guide you through the tale. Just as in Lear, the fool provides the most interesting character and the most insightful moments.

I love absurdist novels by good writers; they make me laugh and keep me immersed. I love all Christopher Moore novels, but this is one of his from his top tier. It is hilarious, but still thought provoking. I wouldn't mind the Fool chillin with me during the MIddle Ages.

I found it almost impossible to think another book could have me laughing aloud with the frequency of Moore's 'Lamb'. Alas, I was wrong. Fool is an absolute joy to read and the witty dialogue is second to none.
