The book examines key scripture passages to reveal the type of life needed to satisfy the scripture and achieve its definition of love. An unattached, nonjudgmental, courageous open awareness toward all life without regard to protected ego programming which delivers anxiety and tension instead of the safety it promises. This requires an unflinching, scientific eye toward examining your behaviors and that of others so that you see the effect of filtering beliefs and programmed thought. Suggested exercises help direct this awareness. When self improvement formulas and techniques have lead to disappointment and heart ache, you will be ready to take the courageous step to honest awareness that will cause great ego pain but will eventually produce the happiness you seek.

This book is simply written. Actually it's a "how to" book to help you put God first. Some of what he has written, I have experienced and know it's true. Some of his advice I am using right now and know it will help. Don't just read it, follow it.

A practical guide to divinity. It helps you search your soul and become aware of the way you have been programmed to respond to life. It creates a longing within you to untie the knots that have bound you and made you a slave to the next Endeavour to achieve.

Anthony de Mello has provided us with an insight, not only into our own personalities, but also in to others who surround us. Why do we react to others the way we do? Is it truly their actions or is it our own conditioning from our parents. His insights are truly awakening to our reactions towards others.

This tiny book is chocked full of wise spiritual and life lessons from Fr. de Mello. This Jesuit priest shares some excellent commentary on detachment, letting go of prior programming, and how to go about life with a full, open heart and mind for all those you meet. I would recommend this book for anyone who has a mature spirituality or personality and is looking to deepen the way you interact with the earth and all the people on it. I recently bought two copies, one for my brother who's graduating from high school and one for an older friend (60+), and I truly believe this book can provide fruit to both of them.

Pretty simple for a complicated world where values are often misleading or priorities get mixed up. Happiness comes from within to be expressed outwardly in the minutest way. This one is a timeless keeper to be read over and over.

anthony shares his revelations from having had his own spiritual awakening...his revelations will be 'teachings' to those not having yet had their own experience....but verification and collaboration to those having had theirs.

a no nonsense 'primer'

So inspiring, it has really changed my outlook on things. When I need a little lift or just a different perspective I can pick this up. I really love the way it blends Eastern thought with Christianity. No dogma here! Maybe a little dharma though ;)
