Love the characters and the action. I see a lot of Bible in the authors background, but instead of this being a hindrance it lends an air of authenticity. Have thoroughly enjoyed this trip into fantasy.

Writing style was excellent, now the author just needs to work on being original in his ideas. Seemed like nothing more than taking ideas and barely changing them to put them in. I could trace almost everything back to games, and books I have already read. Weapons and backstory from Dante's Inferno game. Characters and imagery from Diablo. Story ideas from all kinds of places, even the bible. Has the premise to be a great author if handed original ideas to write about. This was an easily thrown together compilation of mediocrity.

Great fun with an interesting story and enjoyable, if generally superficial characters. Some dialogue used by the characters is distractingly out of place from the Norse medieval setting like "Mr-Fancy-Pants" and "Dagnabit," but generally a good writing style that I think improves with later books. I took the bait line and sinker for this free hook, purchasing the later books in the series. I would recommend it to anyone interested in a good fantasy story.

It took me a couple of chapters to get into the series but once I did I thoroughly enjoyed it. The second book in the series was very brief, more of a novella. The third book ended with a cliff hanger. I am tired of series that go on and on. I prefer a conclusion after three or four books. Failing that, individual books that are complete in themselves but linked together by common characters, e.g. the old Edgar Rice Boroughs "Tarzan" series that I read decades ago.

It started out okay and then I was annoyed by the Christian eschatology that the author seemed to be ripping off. BUT, if you keep reading it becomes apparent that there is a significant twist. Which personally kind of blew my mind. The writing is good and the action and story move along nicely.

I wasn't thrilled by the read. What started out as a interesting and thoughtful piece in the first book faded with the subsequent books with more of the same. Virtually no variety and seriously one dimensional characters. Why would I like some of these people?

This is the set that conjures its own world. It is fun, interesting, captivating and surprising. One is drawn into the plot and the characters become real in your mind. This is a model of what a good sword and sorcery book should be. In every volume. It's a must read for those who like to see good conquering evil.

Three Book Bundle - extremely detailed descriptions bog down the story, making it a slow read and the overuse of the character's favorite cuss word "dagnabbit" makes them sound like a bunch of hillbillies. Other terms such as Mr. Know it All, Mr. Fancy Pants, and lazy bugger make the characters sound like adolescents in a school yard.

This is a hard one for me to critique. I loved the story and the charactors, but this writer tends to go on and on about trivial things. I think he was trying to flesh them out and give them personallity, but it kind of drags on. I do want to get the next few books and finish this series but I really hope the editing is better.

Thater weaves a creative and vivid fantasy/mythology series. I'm mid-way through the 6th book and don't regret purchasing the later copies, though I'm not happy he hasn't wrapped up his yarn yet. Great heroes, monsters, not-so-subtle political intrigue, and overall a fun read.

That's the good part. On the other side, this series has some of the worst editing I've experienced in 5 years of reading e-books. Spelling errors, punctuation errors (learn how to write dialogue), repeated words, and dismal grammar. Bespeckled does not equal bespectacled, too doesn't equal to, and on and on. It doesn't impede comprehension, but very sloppy stuff.

To find something a bit more effective, see some work by Stephen R. Donaldson "Mirror of Her Dreams", or some Joe Abercrombe stuff.

I enjoyed the story but one has to wonder which came first this story of Game of Thrones. Very similar characters and type of adventures. This is supposed to be based on some ancient heroic tales just wonder if Game of Thrones was based on the same history or one copied the other.

The first chapter had my attention. However, the next chapter was very hard for me to read. I actually went and read another 5 books before coming back to it. Having nothing else to read I tried again. The story got more engaging as I read and the 3rd book was the best. As of right now I do not know if I will get the rest of the books. It is good but a bit outside my usual story choices. Wanted to try something different. A good story none the less.

I ignored the bad reviews, I did. For once the "1 star" reviews nailed it, they did.

Writing like that makes my teeth hurt, I tried to read the book but just couldn't make it through due to the writing style and lack of character strength.

What happened to the guy, I think his name was Donnilen who was hauled off after the father was killed. Two knights from the investigating party was supposed to be following wagon tracks. The story never resolved that story line. Most of the characters seem to be fodder or filler. Lots of action though. Nice use of the Bible story line but, apparently, it offended some people.

The first book was pretty fast moving and intriguing. But it doesn't take long to figure out that this is a take on Lucifer and the fallen angels changing into the good guys. Not sure if I"m going to purchase the books. It's just not that good.

These three books in one binding are actually only the beginning of a much longer series. The writing is quite good and the tale is engaging. Be prepared, though, as the third volume leaves you at a critical moment and you will probably have to buy the remaining volumes to relieve your anxiety about your favorite characters fates!

The book's we're very good reading and hard to put down for the subject matter is that of my heritage. I love that you can get lost in the world of the theatin history. Great job. Only some small grammar problems in the book's publication which could be from the translation.

Initial read starts a little slow and predictable but as you get into the post-story lines of initial events the characters start to develop a lot more. So plan on getting over the hump first (About a quarter of first book) and you will enjoy the read of the next two for sure.

I absolutely cannot stop reading this series. It is, by far, the best epic fantasy I have read. The characters are vivid; the story flows smoothly, and the action is non-stop. Starting book 4 now and have already bought books 5 & 6.

Nothing fancy, decent characters, interesting action, smooth writing. Enjoyed reading but wasn't overly excited to read it everyday. A map would be nice as the story moves out into the bigger world.

Some books are just hard to get interested in and this is one such book. The amount of time spent on descriptions I could just about tolerate but the amount of time wasted on bickering and pointless conversation is just ridiculous. I've read lots of books based on Norse mythology and liked most of them but this one I found boring.
There are a few spelling and grammatical errors but very few. The story could have been good if it wasn't so long winded.

The similarities between Korgonn and Christ, or Azathoth and God are too numerous to be a coincidence. Therefore the author should be ashamed of his hostility towards Christianity, not to mention his lack of creativity.

So far so good. This series has been a solid performer for me and I am glad for the chance to read them all.

My first review posted baove gave the author a 4 star review. I have changed it to a 1 star review after purchasing and reading the first three books.

Glenn Thater thinks he is clever but this book is just another religious bashing diatribe. More Social Justice Warrior ism done poorly. if you are a Jew, Christian, or Muslim (as I am) and enjoy having tenants of your faith attacked and ridiculed using weak straw man arguments than these book are for you!

This book had so much potential but turned out to be more bigoted hatred passing off as fantasy.

As I read, I started to notice more and more of the background storyline reflecting Biblical stories but in reverse. The main character, touted by the author as a Norse hero, draws more than just a few similarities to Satan, the fallen angel in the Bible. Am I supposed to be cheering on Satan?? I had to put it down once I realized this. Wishing I had read the one-star reviews before purchasing.

Save your money. The book feels like it was written by a 12 year old. The author has the technical skills to write, but there are major plot holes, contradictions and it was just poorly written. The action sequences were decent but everything else was not. I really wanted to like this series...but didn't.

Honestly, I'm not sure what to say. It was a good attempt with bad personal idiosyncrasies. It seems as tho he tried to make a good stand alone epic but bled some of his personal beliefs and anger into it. Azathoth the demon seems to be a mirror image of Old Testament God. It's a decent read but I almost felt like I was being preached to about how horrible God is. Read it, since it was decently done but form your own views.

Not a bad grouping of stories. Only, been-there-done-that. Sorry 'bout that kids. I enjoyed some of the stories, but I just couldn't quite get into that simple as pie "I'm bad" attitude. Oh well, all yours group.

The writer of this book shows promise as an author. I would have given three or four stars except that part of the reason I wanted to read the book appears to be untrue. The author claims basis on, from what I can tell, non-existent ancient translations from non-existent scholars. Maybe this was supposed to be obvious from the start. If so, color me stupid. In addition the author bring in references to occurrences in the Old Testament that to be honest, I agree with the point of view, but they were unnecessary to the story. These references are to actions of God (AKA Azathoth, which is a direct ripoff from H. P. Lovecraft) that seem evil, such as killing children and destroying cities. Again, if the author had been upfront about it I would have been OK with it. Perhaps something in the description or forward to provide a bit of warning.

Spoilers.

The first book was super slow. You're over half way through the book before you even partially know what's wrong. The second book basically rips of Bible stories and portrays God as evil and Theta as the good rebellious angel. Very unoriginal.

The author's style is some sort of mixture of want-to-be-Lovecraft and 16 year old snark. When he can't think of a way to describe something well, he falls into poorly written Lovecraftian vagueness. When he wants to insert humor, it's all done through Ob and is pretty childish and seems out of character with the rest of the book. The characters are all pretty one dimensional. The fight scenes are all pretty mechanical. There are no real plot twists or surprises, everything follows a pretty slow, plodding, linear path.

Don't waste your time.

Not enough character or world development in the beginning. It took me till almost the end of the first volume to grasp the characters. I couldn’t follow what was going on until things really started happening. I changed my rating because during the temple chapters the environment really came to life and invoked some pretty vivid internal imagery. I think this would make an excellent animated series.

absolutely love this series. the only thing I would say bad about it is the books are too short. I am not a fast reader but it only takes me 5 or 6 hours to read one of these books. regular books take me twice that long.

At first I thought I got the wrong book but as I continued to read I loved the stories and the characters. I liked Theta a mysterious man that was immortal and filled with wisdom. The House of Eotrus was a great family of knights, each brother with his own skills. They meet beasts that came from he'll after their father fails to return. The fight scenes are well described. The story continues as the group tries to find these beasts. I would recommend these books.

I got this ebook bundle free from storycartel.com for my honest opinion.

These are the first three books in an epic fantasy. I got pulled into it quite quickly. Do not get too attached to characters, because you never know who is going to die next. It is an adventure of good and evil, which I really enjoyed. I am anticipating reading some more in this fantasy.

The second book rather blatantly compares the God of the Bible with an evil god namely Azaroth who has his followers kill and drink the blood of innocents. If you are not Jewish or Christian this book is decent but for anyone of those faiths you will most likely find the book rather offensive as I did. other than that though the book was pretty decent. Not much in the way of character development and it reads, as is probably the intent, as more of an epic akim to beowulf than to a modern novel.
