Really enjoy the Longmire series. Like the way Graig Johnson intertwines Indian mysticism into the story line. Overall excellent plots in all of the stories I have read. Excellent interaction between characters, going from humerus to serious.

Why? Because the scene with Vic being dangled by Walt and Henry down a park privy to save an owl while a huge bear is considering when to attack will have you in stitches!
You will have to laugh out loud, chortle, snort, ..a big guffaw!
Enjoy!

Craig Johnson has given us twelve more exciting stories featuring the characters we have grown to love through his Walt Longmire novels and television show. Not since Louis L'Amour has an author created such an enjoyable ensemble and entertaining story lines.

Mr. Johnson's short stories were like a visit with an old friend. Walt told several stories on himself "warts and all". The reader got a chance to laugh, hold your breath and philosophize at various times in each story.

I had previously read most of the story stories, however, really enjoyed re-reading them and picking up audible points I missed the first time. I can't wait until the next book in this series comes out in May 2015.

These were quick reads, as is expected in short fiction. However, I found the stories, including the novella Divorce Horse, lacking in depth and in some cases there really wasn't a plot line. I prefer Mr. Johnson's novel-length Longmire books.

ANYTHING LONGMIRE! I love the way Craig Johnson writes and you just get to know Walt and all the characters and feel the story with them. These are great little peeks into the life and times of a dedicated sheriff.

The author shows, tho his preference is for the novel, he is equally skilled at this medium. Some quirky, humorous tales. Many of the holiday season. Bad guys work year round. And Walt is always thinking.

Great comtemporary western; it makes you laugh out loud; profanity present.
I love this series of books & stories from Longmire. I hope someone picks up the series on TV. We need a Season 4, 5, & 6.

This was a truly delightful collection of short stories, each of which showcase the wonderful main character and his many cherished relationships. I appreciate the authors reverence for nature, the respect he shows to different ethnic cultures and practices, and his keen sense of humour.

Craig Johnson is a treasure, and everything he writes is replete with humanity, humor, and a fine insight into human nature. I'm a Montanan, so I particularly appreciate the cultural insights he provides.

Even though I've read many of these Longmire shorts, I never tire of reading them. Even though I love getting Craig Johnson's email post its with new Longmire stories, I'm glad to have them all in one collection!

Each short story provided a fresh, seemingly unrelated story line. Yet, there was some thread that bound them together - namely the Longmire philosophy and how the West differs from the big city atmosphere. A big plus to these twelve tales by incredible author Craig Johnson is you may find yourself going back and rereading them at some point. They don't get old. If Mr. Johnson could write more of these stories, I'd be one happy reader.

Excellent! Short stories of my favorite characters being so typically 'themselves'. Funny, thoughtful, and the dialogue rings true. Even in short stories, I got a great sense of each minor character's personality and quirks as well.

I will read anything Craig Johnson writes. I didn't have a lot of hope with a collection of short stories, but I was pleasantly surprised with how enjoyable the shorter stories were and how efficiently Waltmire and crew solved the mini-mysteries with just the right balance of story-telling and "gotcha." Can't wait for the next full-length Waltmire novel.
