A typical Picket story with the well known characters, but this time the writing doesn't flow as it used to. The characters and their thoughts and actions are not quite as believable as in earlier works. Enjoyable, but not his best book.

Love who-done-its, first time reading this author and it won't be my last! I loaded several other books by him. Love CJ Box's easy writing style, great character development, keeps your hanging until the very end! Read him!

Great book. I have read all eighteen Joe Picket books and the Highway series. I almost gave this a four star but I just couldn't. Probably not as intriguing as the others but still very good. C J Box needs to write faster.

Enjoyed the book. It followed a true to life story line. I felt it ended a bit suddenly, and could have used a few pages to at least speak to the former Governor's plan for Joe's lawyer, and either a defense strategy, or a dismissal of any charge.

I have not missed reading a single Joe Pickett novel. This one continues in the well-written style of C. J. Box and I recommend it highly to fans of the modern-day western. I look forward to reading the next one. Each book can stand on its own, but reading them in order allows one to follow the maturation of the Pickett family over the years. This is a great read!

Easy to follow. Likable characters. Very entertaining without knowing what comes next. Highly recommend the whole series without needing to read the previous to follow what’s going on in each individual book.

Enjoyable story and strong writing as the previous series but the plot came together too quickly. Half expecting Sheridan to be immersed in her own adventure with her adventure. Always good description of Wyoming and her people and the cancerous governments plaguing the west.

Another fantastic story by C.J. Could not put the book down and really have not one complaint: g poo r me the story did not end. I can hardly wait to find out how Joe ends up; with a promotion of just his same job back, holding all the cards. Next book please.

Another great story in a long line of Joe Pickett stories. Looking forward to the next one. One suggestion: Box could leave out political comments. Putting in negative comments about the President adds nothing to the story and actually takes away from it. Joe Pickett is not a political character. Box should leave it there.

Love Joe Pickett and his adventures!! As always, this novel does a great job of describing the setting and characters. Lots of interesting characters and plot twists. Have read all of CJ Box's novels and can't wait for the next one!!

When reading an author for the first time, and then be blown away with the quality of their storytelling, makes one wonder why it took so long to discover this author. C.J. Box is the author of 25 novels; 18 of which are from the Joe Pickett series, and for this reader, his latest “The Disappeared” was simply incredible.
Joe Pickett is a Wyoming game warden, and perhaps that is not so exciting by itself, but when requested by the governor to investigate a crisis or situation, evidently those situations can become explosive and yet Joe has a way of accomplishing big things. The new governor of Wyoming requests, no demands that Joe locate a wealthy missing British woman who was staying at an upscale guest/dude ranch for a week and then turns up missing when she heads back to the Denver for her return flight to London.
At the same time, Joe’s buddy ex-Special Forces officer Nate Romanowski, who is a falconer, asks Joe to request from the governor, licensing, to allow Nate and others to hunt with both falcons and bald eagles. Two completely different situations and yet at the story progresses the two cases comes together.
Having spent some summers in Jackson Hole as a child and later on Wyoming road-trips as an adult, there is something magical about Wyoming. Still, “The Disappeared” takes place in the heart of the winter, with a lot of snow, and extreme cold, and while enjoyable to read about, life in the winter in Arizona is much easier.
In this story, this reader liked the relationship between Joe, his wife and their daughters, and evidently the family is much apart of his other novels. As I now look at my bookshelves, there needs to be some rearranging, because hopefully soon there will be 24 other C.J. novels needing a home.
Great book and evidently a great series!
