Jane, a New Orleans Homicide detective, discovers that there's supernaturals in her city when a guy named Aidan keeps trying to "seduce" her into forgetting the details of a dead woman's case. When Aidan realizes that Jane is immune to his glamour he decides she's a Super Special supe that must be protected at all costs but she's hellbent on finding the killer on her most recent case.
I remember reading (or trying to read) a couple books by this author years ago and even back then her stuff struck me as being a little too tired and derivative. She seems to have potential as an author but every book i've tried by her seems to be the same old story and nothing is ever added to it (or its characters) to make it stand out in the already crowded genre of PNR/UF. I always feel like i've already read the story before i've actually read the story. This is yet another vampire and werewolf PNR with a cop on the hunt for a killer.
Jane and Aidan are such standard PNR characters that the only thing that stands out about either of them is their complete lack of chemistry. Jane is obsessed with solving her case and catching the killer to the point of stupidity; she knows the killer is a supe but has no idea how to deal with supes--she also knows she's being targeted by this supernatural killer and yet she still insists on going after him and she often insists on doing it alone!
Jane also isn't at all convincing as a homicide detective because she takes her cases so personally that you'd think every homicide victim she encounters was a close friend or family member! The death of a random stranger hits her that hard. A homicide detective like this would burnout within a week in NO. Aiden wasn't much better; he's such a forgettable cliche that i won't even bother describing him suffice to say he's one of those "alpha" males whose sole existence becomes to protect his mate. I felt like he was attracted to Jane for no real reason and vice versa. This author isn't a terrible writer but she desperately needs new material! Maybe if she switched to a different genre she'd be able to break out of this rut but i don't know...

Bite The Dust, Blood And Moonlight Book 1, Cynthia Eden
Review from Jeannie Zelos book reviews
Genre: Romance, Fantasy and Paranormal
I’ve really enjoyed some of Cynthia's suspense reads, been five star crackers for me, but the couple of paranormals I’ve read have been good, but not great. Sadly this book too fell into that category.
I love the whole shapeshifter/vampire world, and each author puts their own spin on it. For first books that means as well as a good story the author has to introduce characters, types and world settings. A tough task, and why I’ll usually try second books even if the first doesn’t seem that great. I’ve come to love some series where I wasn’t convinced by book one, but on rereading after more of the series was out I’ve felt differently about it.That may eb the case with this book, I enjoyed the world setting but the characters and the mystery seemed a bit simplistic. .
I really wasn’t convinced of the romance between Aiden and Jane. Sometimes that instant attraction works, sometimes it doesn’t, and for me here I wasn’t feeling it. Jane’s new to the area, and its full of surprises, but she’s has some experience in the past of the paranormal although no-one believed her, so when she finds out more about what’s really going on it doesn’t take too much for Aiden to convince her. They still have a few head to heads though when she’s determined to do it her way and he says He’s The Law there! I didn’t really feel I was in New Orleans either – maybe later in the series.
The story itself is fairly simple and it wasn’t that hard to guess what was going on – and even who was behind some of the things that happened. It made for a fun, one off read and I’ll try book two, but I’m not wholly convinced its a series I’m going to love.
Stars: Stars: Three, a slow start but still a fun read.

When New Orleans Detective Jane Hart gets the call to the investigation of her first official homicide case she's unprepared for what she finds. A gruesome murder has happened and a strange man is talking to her as if she'll forget everything. Next thing Jane knows it's morning and she's receiving a call to investigate another case but it's the same victim but only she seems to remember the first call.
Werewolf Aidan Locke is the alpha in charge of New Orleans. It's Aidan's job to protect the city and keep the vampires out but when a Master Vampire comes to town it's the beginning of a war. And now Aidan finds himself attracted to this detective that has something different about her but so is the vampires and Aidan vows to protect Jane at all costs.
Bite the Dust is a good solid read that some are sure to love. Well written and with likable characters I did enjoy the read for the most part but some part of me was just wanting a bit more or something a bit different to happen. With so many books, movies and television shows out there with vampires and werewolves I kind of felt that there was just nothing new added to make this one stand out more to me.
Jane is the tough, independent heroine that insists she doesn't need the man protecting her and Aiden the hot and sexy alpha that insists he protects her. The two of course have an instant attraction coming to find with something different about Jane that her smell attracts the alpha wolf with a bit of back and forth between the two then becoming a steamy relationship.
The story includes the war between werewolves and vampires, vampire being evil blood obsessed monsters while the wolves protectors. The story keeps the suspense going between the species and a bit of betrayal involved in the plot. Everything you'd expect from this type of read.
Overall, 3.5 stars, well written werewolf/vampire paranormal read which I did like but just wanted a bit more to really love.
I received a copy from the publisher via NetGalley in exchange for an honest review.

"No one should die that way." - Jane
Homicide detective Jane Hart is investigating a murder outside of Hell...Hell's Gate that is, a club owned by the mysterious Aidan Locke. She senses the predator underneath his public face, feels something else when she looks at him too, but she can't put a label on that one yet.
"I own Hell." - Aidan
Aidan, the Pack alpha, knows everything that goes on in his city, and if he doesn't, he'll know soon. As is always the case with certain "special" cases, the ME knows exactly what to say to cover certain aspects that only a select few are allowed to know, those instructions are per Aidan.
"What am I supposed to do with you?" - Aidan
But Aidan knows that Jane isn't going to stop looking and she can't be persuaded to forget. Aidan has tried, literally. It's a power he has that does not work on Jane. Hmm...that's very interesting. What could it mean? What does it mean that Aidan is so intrigued with her, with her scent?
"Anyone going near her will deal with me." - Aidan
As she continues asking questions, Aidan does the only thing he can to protect her, thankfully it's something he wants to do anyway, he claims her. It isn't long before Aidan saves her, proving that she needs his protection.
"No, sweetheart, it's the beginning." - Aidan
The question though is who is after Jane and why? Is it the same person that's started a killing spree in the city? How does Jane's heartbreaking past impact her present, her future? It seems Jane is human, and yet, she's not. What does that mean for her? How does this effect(?) Aidan? A war is coming and both Aidan and Jane will be in the middle of it. Can they protect each other? What about the connection that continues to grow between them? What does that mean for them? How far will Aidan go to keep her?

3.5 stars---BITE THE DUST is the first installment in Cynthia Eden’s adult, contemporary BLOOD AND MOONLIGHT paranormal, romance series focusing on Alpha Werewolf / Nightclub owner Aidan Locke, and human/ NOLA police detective Jane Hart.
Told from several third person perspectives BITE THE DUST follows New Orleans detective Jane Hart as she investigates a series of murders where the victim or corpses continue to disappear. Enter Aidan Locke-New Orleans werewolf Alpha, and the legal authority for all things paranormal. Keeping their identity a secret is difficult when Detective Jane is determined to uncover the truth behind the brutal murders, the missing bodies, and the return of those once considered dead and in the morgue. What ensues is Jane’s search for those responsible, and Aidan’s need to protect the woman that calls to his heart-but there is a bigger problem facing Aidan and Jane-Jane has been targeted by the paranormal world because she is slated for something bigger –of a supernatural kind.
Aidan Locke is a power unto himself-one of the few remaining pure werewolf shifters and with it comes power and control. Detective Mary Jane Hart is a woman that stirs Aidan’s heart, his soul, and his need to take a mate but Jane is determined to put herself in harm’s way as she investigates the increasing number of homicides that all resemble vampire killings. Jane has known for years that monsters exist and her fate is in the hands of the very thing that could destroy her life.
The relationship between Jane and Aidan is one of immediate attraction but Jane tries to keep her distance believing Aidan knows more about the killings then he is willing to reveal. Aidan knows that Jane is his fated mate, but his first duty is protect the woman who could bring death and destruction to everyone he knows.
The world building focuses on the supernatural element of New Orleans, and the upcoming war between the vampires and the werewolves. Werewolves are the guardians of the city, and vampires must be destroyed before they destroy what’s left of the human population, and the woman Aidan loves.
BITE THE DUST is a busy introductory story line that looks at the vampire/werewolf battle for control; an Alpha who has found his fated mate; a betrayal within the Pack; and a community of supernatural beings who have targeted Detective Mary Jane Hart for extermination-and herein lies the bigger question-what is our heroine’s role within the paranormal world? We have only been given some background information that hints at a dark and dangerous future for Mary Jane Hart. The premise is dramatic; the characters are animated; the romance is a slow build between a dangerous combination but saying that I did not feel the heat or chemistry; their relationship felt like a business arrangement without the spark of want and need.
Aidan and Jane’s story continues in BETTER OFF UNDEAD (January 2016)

This is a good, action packed filled paranormal read I really did enjoy.....until the ending.
I liked this book....We had a strong female lead in Mary Jane Hart, a newly appointed, New Orleans detective who's not only believed monsters are real, she's known it.....and a to die for alpha male in Aiden Locke, the undisputed leader of not just the werewolves, but the city itself.
In paranormal romance, everything is here. Suspense, romance, excitement and mystery. There's vampires and werewolves magic users and unknown....in most cases, hands down this gets a five star rating...except...the ending.
As far as I am concerned, the continuation storyline needs to stop. I read Jane and Aidan's book. To me, they're done now.....but yet, there's just no way Ms Eden isn't bringing them back, personally I don't want to continue on with the same couple, I read their book, I wouldn't been pleased to move on.
That being said, just because I don't want to read book two doesn't mean A, others wouldn't mind the same couple again, B. It should take away from what's here. A good, unique spin on paranormal romance. I'd give five stars if this had a more concise ending, but since I didn't care for the slight cliffhanger, I'll give it a four.

Bite the Dust is book one in a brand new Cynthia Eden Series. Full of monsters and things that go bump in the night, Ms. Eden doesn't fail us. She also still manages to keep us in suspense as the story unfolds.
Detective Mary Jane Hart has spent most of her life knowing that there are things that go bump in the night. Orphaned at a young age, Jane watched her parents die at the hands of a sadistic Vampire. Living in her own personal hell because no one believed her, Jane forced herself to go on. Now she's the newest detective on the New Orleans Police Force. But it seems that there is so much more to Ms. Hart even she knows. And when a homicide victim goes missing Ms. Hart enters into a world she already knew existed..
Alpha Aidan Locke has run New Orleans for a very long time. One of the things he has ensured was no Vamps in his city! But suddenly he's up to his armpits in them and the new police detective won't cooperate by forgetting. It seems he can't make her forget..hmmmm, what's going on? Now Aidan has a mystery to solve who is this woman who is consuming his mind and his heart??
I am still not sure if I liked this book. There was a lot going on and some of the characters were spectacular. The plot was leading us into darkness and we know that even though this book had it's required HEA, this is not the end. Of course not it's the beginning of the series.
Ms. Eden does suspense like no one's business and i was thrilled to see that edge in her paranormal work. I would hate to see the beauty that is Ms. Eden's twisted mind go missing.
The thing about this book, I kept thinking I had read it before, if not it then a later book in the series but it says this is a new series so I am a bit confused. I can't quite put my finger on it and that irked me throughout the book.
As I have said many times I am not a huge vampire book lover and the reason I went ahead and got this one was because it's hero was a werewolf as opposed to a vamp and the vamps were appropriately evil. BUT, Ms. Eden is setting us up, I know it.. There are gonna be some twists and turns in this series and we need to totally watch out for them.
As ambivalent as I am about this book, I know I am sunk and will continue on with the series. Why? Because Ms. Eden hooked me.. I want to know more.. Based on that I am going to give it a four star.. It has kept me thinking and that's never a bad thing.

Wow, this book did not disappoint!!! There is murder, mystery, betrayal, action, hot men and sexy scenes, so what more could you want, right? Oh, yeah, I know! A second book that continues the crazy journey of Jane and Aidan!!! And you know what, that's exactly what this amazingly talented author makes happen! Heck yeah!!!!
Many know that I love paranormal books, that have a kicka** heroine, loyal hot hero and, above all, a plot that leaves you craving for more. And that's what this book is all about. I'm so happy I got to read it, otherwise I'd never know how good this story really is. I know some might see it differently, since we all have can't have the same book taste, but for me it was quite the enjoyable read.
As said in the blurb, Jane Hart is a young but fierce cop and at the time of her first murder case, she had no bloody idea into what she really stumbled. Heck no! Because after meeting Aidan, the world she though to knew, became a hell of a scarier place to live in. After all, who believed vampires and werewolfs were real, right? Well, she did now... Unfortunately her gained knowledge came with a price that just might end her life.
And as for Aidan, lets just say there is more to him than meets the eye. So much more. ;)
I loved his character. He's all secretive, alpha and sexy as hell, but he does wear his heart on his sleeve. And although he knows what danger Jane represents, he simply can't help but slowly fall for her personality. And when he finally convinces Jane to give in to their attraction, well, I had a great time reading about those parts.
There were some plot twist that I didn't see coming and that made me like their story even more. Both try to do the right things, even when their ways to get there are far from alike. But in the end, it all plays out the way it should. As already said above, it left me craving for more. Thankfully the second book is already out, so that's exactly what I'm going to do next!
Safety-gang: Safe.

4 - "You can't control other people's crazy." Stars!
No one writes paranormal romantic suspense quite like Cynthia Eden, and I think the first book in her new Blood and Moonlight. series, highlights exactly why. Bite the Dust introduces us to the underworld of New Orleans, not to mention the wealth of creatures and characters that live in it, as well as giving us a kick-ass Heroine and a sexy dominant Alpha as our lead characters.
Detective Jane Hart, is on her first case for the NOPD, a brutally murdered woman, left in an alley outside of a local nightspot, drained of blood with her throat slit. Although you never expect a murder to be cut and dried in its investigation, the fact that the victim disappears from the morgue, and all of her colleagues have no memory of the crime even being committed the following day, leaves Jane wondering just exactly what is going on in the deep, dark, depths of the New Orleans underworld.
Handsome faces could hide horrible monsters…
Local business owner, and Alpha of the town’s werewolf population Aidan Locke, knows more than Jane thinks he is telling her. And it was extremely entertaining to read this couple butt heads over pretty much everything from then on in, with Jane attempting to investigate the weird and wicked crimes being committed, whilst apparently the target of an unknown entity herself.
”Are you sniffing me?
…Because that is some weird serial killer shirt if you’re doing that. Don’t make me go for my gun again.”
The banter between this couple was hilarious at points, as well as the chemistry which was more than a little steamy. Cynthia gave great depth to the back stories of this pair as well, which seeing as it’s the start of the series is what I would expect from her.
”I don’t know what scares me more. You… or the vampires out there.”
Bite the Dust hits the ground running with its story-line, and the author brings in a great cast of characters as the plot progresses. Nothing is quite as it would seem in New Orleans, and I figure that as the series moves along we will be given more and more insight into the werewolf and vampire populations, as well as delving deeper into the pasts of Jane and Aidan.
”The end… It never looks the way we expect, does it.”
Better off Undead was released early January, and I cannot wait to get back to this series.

I loved this authors Purgatory series with uber hot paranormal characters so was very excited to see this new series appear when checking Goodreads. I will be honest and say I'm so over stories that feature New Orleans as its terribly over used as a setting in paranormal romance stories but a friend read this and said it was more character lead so I decided to give it a go.
Jane is our leading lady here and right from the start it's obvious she has secrets of her own. A newly promoted detective but she's a woman with a past and when a body disappears and then reappears its not the first time Jane has had to face monsters. This time though the monsters are much more attractive and bossy but Jane can handle that, can't she?
Aidan runs his city the same way he runs his Pack, might is right. So what does he do when the infuriating new Detective keeps getting mixed up in his business? Janes bright, persistent and unfortunately just might be a very real danger to Aidans Pack! Vampires are attacking his city and searching for prey but it looks like there is something planned and Jane is slap bang in the middle of it!
Another entertaining story from this author but I'm left wanting more. Yes it's the first in the series so characters to introduce and world building to create but as a reader I wanted a few more answers about Jane. Upon checking I notice the next book is also about Aidan and Jane so clearly that's why some secrets were not revealed. Ok I can cope with that as clearly Ms Eden has a plan to broaden this world she has created. So my final thoughts are I enjoyed it, it's an interesting take on vampires particularly as we see what it really means to turn into a bloodthirsty monster. This couple are both passionate and stubborn so bound to have lots of ups and downs. I'm not sure what might happen next but I'm sufficiently intrigued to want to find out
I was gifted a copy in exchange for an honest review

Cynthia Eden’s books are always amazing. The storytelling, the paranormal, the creation of worlds, and the sexy romance, they all create fantastic stories. Whenever I crave paranormal, I run to this author’s books. BITE THE DUST was unputdownable until the very finish. And now, even though I’ve finished, I’m heading straight to the next book in the series.
When Jane begins to investigate her first homicide case, it’s immediate that she realizes something isn’t quite right. And in realizing that, she’s seeing that Aidan isn’t quite who he says he is either. For one, her victim’s aren’t staying dead. And for two, Aidan isn’t being truthful about it. Forcing her way in, the alpha werewolf has to fold her into the hidden paranormal world of New Orleans, and somehow do it will still protecting her. Because she’s more than knows, and what she is could bring destruction to everyone in the city.
Ms. Eden has a way with creating the perfect male character, because he’s just the right amount of alpha (no pun intended), and the perfect amount of vulnerable. Jane and Aidan have an intense, instant connection that fuels the story and it gets better as the story progresses. The added mystery/suspense element just ratchets that up higher. And Jane, well, she’s the perfect amount of strong and fierce. She isn’t willing to be safely protected if she can be out there fighting, and she takes her job seriously in wanting to save everyone she can, even if its to her own detriment. I am so glad the next book is out because I can’t get enough!

Superb book about Jane, and Aidan. Jane is human with a bit of a twist, and Aidan is an Alpha wolf. They have quite an adventure together, fighting enemies, falling in love, and dealing with betrayal.
Jane is no sniveling, weak, scaredy cat. She is strong, self-confidence, and a little hell cat. She does not stand down from anything, she is also a homicide detective, with a past, and a possible not so good future.
Aidan is a sexy predator, but on the good side. Also self-confidence, strong, smart, and protective. He tries to keep the city safe, often in a very different way, but it works for the most part. His kind have one natural enemy, whom they are always fighting, and needing to deal with. He is also trying to protect Jane from a possible bad future.
Jane, and Aidan are in love, but things are not easy. There is a book after this one, and I think they are going to find out things about each other. Things that might make more complications.
This book was full of fighting, and action. It had a great story line to it, and was well written. I am definitely going to read the next book, and I certainly recommend this one. Of course if you're into paranormal romance type books. I would also say this would be considered an adult book. It has a little profanity, some sex although not a lot of detail till the end, then of course the killing. I didn't think it was much at all, but I wouldn't let my 12 year old niece or nephew read it.

New Orleans
Jane Hart is a detective in New Orleans. As she investigates her first official homicide case her world is torn apart by that very investigation. Jane is caught in an eternal battle between vampires and werewolves because her murder case is a part of that deadly war. It is also a battle that can’t end well.
Aidan Locke is a werewolf who for years has been running New Orleans. His job is to keep the vamps out of the city. It is now time for Aidan to fight with all the fury of his pack when a Master Vampire comes to town determined to unleash hell. It is beast versus vamp until the very last breath. Then he meets Jane.
Aiden knows Jane is much more than she seems with just one taste and one look. Even she doesn’t know how much more she truly is. She is very important to the paranormal war. She is a queen to be won not a pawn to be used. Jane Hart will become something deadlier not just a fierce cop or guardian if Aiden can’t stop the darkness from descending on the town or keep her at his side. Aidan is determined to fight heaven and hell to change her fate. He must become more than just a predator to change their fate.
This is another amazing book by an author that continues to writes books that prove to be addictive. Readers will not want to put this one down until the very last page and they will want the next book right now. The characters are complex and intriguing and make for a story that moves at a very fast pace. The action starts right at the beginning and doesn’t stop until the very end. With all the twist and turns this story takes reader will never be completely sure just where this one will end up at and how it will get there. Readers that enjoy paranormal books and enjoy vampires and werewolves will find this is a must read.

New Orleans homicide detective Jane Hart is finding police work in the Big Easy to be more, oh, let’s say, more supernatural than her experience in other cities. Her first murdered corpse returns within hours as a vampire and is killed again, that’s twice in one night. Add to that the unexplained appearances and disappearances by an imposing restaurateur called Locke and, if Jane were a cop with less courage, she might begin to feel out of her depth.
Author Cynthia Eden has populated her well-crafted New Orleans world with a clever and often unexpected cast of characters. The French Quarter, Jackson Square, blues bands, and beignets share the spotlight with vampires, werewolves, voodoo priestesses, and – the greatest mystery – Jane herself, who is not totally human. The conflicts escalate as opposing supernatural factions vie for ownership of nothing less than Detective Jane Hart. Unfortunately, only one of those factions intends to allow Jane to remain among the living.
This is a fast, fun read with fascinating characters and legendary locales. (Parents, be advised that the novel is intended for mature readers and contains some bad language and a few fairly explicit sexual encounters.) It is difficult for an author to find something original to say in the vastly-populated genre of werewolf/vampire novels, but Cynthia Eden has happily succeeded.

New Orleans Detective Jane Hart is new to her job and ready to save the world one life at a time. This is her first case and she jumps in ready to find the murderer and there is one man she suspects is up to no good....Aidan Locke
Aidan Locke is a werewolf who also happens to be in charge of keeping all things supernatural hidden from the outside world. But what's a guy to do when all his tactics that usually works like magic to keep the humans safe does not seem to work on the sexy/smart detective Hart? Read and find out!
I received this book as an ARC from Net Galley for my honest review
This book was really good. I loved that Cynthia Eden did a great job making this book different than any other paranormal romance. It had that Underworld feel where it was vamps against werewolves and romance being found where it should not be found and lives at risk and steamy love scenes and... oh boy I can go on and on!
I loved that both Aidan and Jane were both strong and ready for anything the world threw at them. It was actually very refreshing, no simpering human that was hiding behind her alpha man...no Jane was right next to Aidan with her gun or fists raised fighting a battle she did not even know if she could win.
Great job Cynthia, I highly recommend this book.

Who doesn't love sexy wolves? Detective Jane Hart is on a new case something doesn't add up as the victim has her throat ripped out and no one saw anything even though that it took place outside a club that is owned by the serious Adrian Locke.
Jane needs answers from him and she will get them but will she be happy with the answers? Adrian knows that there is something special about Jane and he fears that she will be his worst nightmare as he will have to take care of her even though his mind is saying no, his wolf is saying yes.
The more that Jane learns the more she knows that she will have her revenge at long last and she will be able to stop the monsters for good.
Can Adrian protect her from his pack or will they take her away forever?
They will need to work together to fight the vamps and to save Jane in the process.
What a great story, it has everything that you want in a supernatural book, wolves & vampires and their human counterparts. Happy to recommend to all my friends as it was so easy to read. I received a copy in exchange for an honest review via Netgalley.

Shadows and secrets and danger all come together in this book to make for one really exciting read.
Cynthia Eden is without a doubt the Queen of the Paranormal.
Her cast of characters drive the suspense up as well as our heart rates.
In this book, Jane is just a homicide detective and she takes her job very seriously. She likes to help people. It soothes her soul.
Except there's something lurking out there in the night. In the dark shadows.
Jane is more than what she thinks. Only trouble is...she doesn't know.
Aiden is every girls fantasy. He's tall, dark, handsome and very dominate. And he's completely fascinated with Jane.
Danger is everywhere as Aiden and Jane struggle to stay alive against something that is more powerful than either one knows.
Death, Betrayal and hot steamy times fill the pages of this book.
It's also kind of a cliff hanger. Though not one that makes you want to throw your reader across the room.
I'm looking forward to more from Aiden and Jane.

Thoughts: Needless to say, I was excited about this first book in a new series by Cynthia Eden. It really had the potential to wind up being one of my favorite series (or so I thought as I read the blurb). My excitement was a little dampened, however, as I finished it. I really liked the book, but it just didn’t grab me and reel me into this series completely. At least not quite yet. The characters were ok, the storyline was ok….overall, it was just ok for me. I liked Jane, but she seemed like a pain sometimes and I just didn’t find myself really admiring her character, or feeling a great attachment to any of them really.
However, I am reminding myself that this is the first in the series – the characters have plenty of room to grow in the future. The characters and the world itself has plenty of time to find its footing. I’m looking forward to seeing how the next book goes.
So for the current time, I am still holding out hope for this new series….:)

Nothing is ever what it seems. Detective Jane Hart is figuring this out a lot lately. Not only is her past coming back to haunt her, the life she knew is changing. She is now dealing with werewolves and vampires in the city of New Orleans, and there is a monster out to get her. Aidan Locke is a werewolf alpha who has lived in New Orleans for years and now he has a Master Vampire to go up against. Plus it seems his own life is changing, and one women is constantly on his mind.
This book was thrilling and entertaining from cover to end. A book you would want to sink your teeth into. The storyline was easy to follow and it was something I wanted to keep reading. Bite the Dust is a supernatural romance thriller a person can get hooked on. Each chapter had something exciting and you don’t see a lot of what happens coming. Jane Hart is one tough cookie, while Aidan is tough and sexy as any werewolf could be.

Fast-paced with lots of excitement to keep the story fleshed out, Bite The Dust is a great beginning to what promises to be an enjoyable paranormal trio by Cynthia Eden. In this first installment, the protagonists, Jane and Aidan spend their time trying to solve murders and build budding relationship. Are they successful with either, or both? It becomes a treat finding out as the reader discovers what lengths their adversary will go to to keep them apart, and to get what he wants - Jane.

I loved it! Jane is one tough heroine. I really liked how she didn't let Aidan get away with any alpha bossy crap with her ;). She's a homicide detective in New Orleans and with her first case she encounters Aidan. The victim is a woman dead in front of his club. Jane picks Aidan off as dangerous right from the first look, and he is.
I won't say much but Aidan is an alpha werewolf who kind of polices New Orleans. The first victim was killed by a vampire and Aidan covers it up. He thinks he can make Jane forget what she has seen but he has no control over her. That means she's special and not in a good way.
That's all I'll give you so as not to ruin this great read. Enjoy, I sure did :).

AWWW I have to read the rest of the series.
I've loved all of Cynthia's books that I've gotten to read.
I was totally absorbed by Jane and Aidan's story. This series has alpha wolves, blood sucking vampires and a girl who could be the biggest danger of all. I so enjoyed this tale of love because with in it it has everything that keeps you reading...mystery, suspense, betrayal and so much more.

Detective Jane had no idea that New Orleans had paranormal elements, but her first case puts her right in the middle of it.
Aidan is used to taking care of the cops when it's needed, but this new detective isn't susceptible to his powers. He's not really ready for what this means for them, and Jane is really not, either.
When an old enemy returns, both Jane and Aidan are in for a fight for their lives.
PNR, action and smutty fluff in a great combo, and a new world I want more from!

Reading a Cynthia Eden book is not a relaxing experience. Her novels are never what you would call “cozy” or “sweet.” While reading her stories, I usually end up white-knuckling my Kindle and reading at a frenzied pace, unblinking. The action is unrelenting, the subject matter dark and engrossing. BITE THE DUST, the first in a new series from this New York Times and USA Today bestselling author, is no exception.
But while her novels tend to raise my blood pressure and keep me awake at night, I keep reading them. Why? Because Ms. Eden has an unparalleled ability to write perfect alpha males and the strong, feisty women who love them. Aidan and Jane were a perfect match: strong, determined, and utterly devoted to one another.
Long-story-short, I loved this book, just like I’ve loved all of Ms. Eden’s other books. So I need blood pressure meds after years of reading them…so what? Totally. Worth. It.

I really like this story. It's main characters are well thought out with strengths and weaknesses. We are not told exactly what Jane is yet, although hints are given. Overall, a great story. On a side note, there are some grammatical errors that missed the edits. This is one of my pet peeves as they jolt you out of the story's world for just a moment. By no means do they ruin the story, but I never understand how they end up in final versions. With that being said, this is a really good beginning to what will be an exciting series.
